A new multisyringe flow injection system for total inorganic selenium determination by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HGAFS) has been proposed. The flow methodology is based on the simultaneous injection of sample in the acid media (50% HCl), a reducing sodium tetrahydroborate solution (0.18%) and a solution of hydrochloric acid (50%) which are dispensed into a gas-liquid separation cell by using a multisyringe burette coupled with one multiport selection valve. The usage of the time-based injection increases the sample throughput and provides precise known volumes of sample. The hydride of selenium is delivered into the flame of an atomic fluorescence spectrometer by means of an argon flow. A hydrogen flow has been used to support the flame. The technique can be applied over a wide range of concentrations of selenium between 0.1 and 3.5 μg l−1 with good repeatability (relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) values 4.6-7% for 1 μg l−1 of Se). The detection limit of the developed technique (3σb/S) was 0.01 μg l−1. A sample throughput was 28 samples per hour (84 injections). The multisyringe technique has been validated by means of reference solid (sea lettuce) and water (hard drinking water) materials with good agreement with certified values. The analytical features were compared with those obtained by using of the commercial flow injection analysis (FIA) system. The proposed method provides a higher sampling frequency and a significant reduction of reagent and sample consumption in front the flow injection application.  相似文献

An automatic multisyringe flow injection analysis (MSFIA) system coupling a flow-through optical fiber diffuse reflectance sensor with in-line gas-diffusion (GD) separation is proposed for the isolation, preconcentration and determination of traces of volatile and gas-evolving compounds in samples containing suspended solids, with no need for any preliminary batch sample treatment. The flowing methodology overcomes the lost of sensitivity of the in-line separation technique, when performed in a uni-directional continuous-flow mode, through the implementation of disk-based solid-phase extraction schemes. The high selectivity and sensitivity, the low reagent consumption and the miniaturization of the whole assembly are the outstanding features of the automated set-up. The proposed combination of techniques for separation, flow analysis, preconcentration and detection was applied satisfactorily to sulfide determination in environmental complex matrixes. The method based on multicommutation flow analysis involves the stripping of the analyte as hydrogen sulfide from the donor channel of the GD-module into an alkaline receiver segment, whereupon the enriched plug merges with well-defined zones of the chormogenic reagents (viz., N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine (DMPD) and Fe(III)). The in-line generated methylene blue dye is subsequently delivered downstream to the dedicated optrode cell furnished with a C18 disk, while recording continuously the diffuse reflectance spectrum of the pre-concentrated compound. This procedure provides a linear working range of 20-500 μg l−1 sulfide with a relative standard deviation of 2.2% (n = 10) at the 200 μg l−1 level, and a detection limit of 1.3 μg l−1.  相似文献

A selective procedure for the determination of Al3+ in drinking and natural waters is proposed. The analytical procedure is based both on the complex formation between Al3+ and 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid (HQS) and on a fluorimetric detection of the complex. The reaction was carried out in presence of thioglycolic acid as a masking agent. This procedure has been adapted to a sequential injection analysis (SIA) system. Operative conditions both for batch and SIA procedures were investigated including reagent concentration, volumes, pH and wavelengths used for the fluorimetric detection. Batch procedure allows determination of Al3+ at ppb level (LOQ: 2.8 μg l−1) within a working range of 2.2-300 μg l−1. The SIA procedure was successfully employed for the determination of Al3+ in several commercial drinking and tap waters.  相似文献

A software-controlled time-based multisyringe flow-injection system for total inorganic arsenic determination by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HGAFS) has been developed. By using a multisyringe burette coupled with one multiport selection valve, the time-based injection provides precise known volumes of sample, a reducing sodium tetrahydroborate solution and a pre-reducing solution which are dispensed into a gas-liquid separation cell. An argon flow delivers the arsine into the flame of an atomic fluorescence spectrometer. A hydrogen flow has been used to support the flame.Linear calibration graphs for arsenic concentrations between 0.25 and 12 μg l−1 were obtained. The detection limit of the proposed technique (3σb/S) was 0.07 μg l−1. A sample throughput of 36 samples/h (108 injections) has been achieved. The proposed technique has been validated by means of reference solid and water materials with good agreement with the certified values. This method was compared with those reported in previous sequential injection analysis (SIA) and flow-injection analysis (FIA) systems. The proposed method offers a number of advantages in front the usual AFS applications, which are mainly a higher sampling frequency and a significant reduction in reagent consumption.  相似文献

In this study, a new technique by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS) for determination and speciation of inorganic arsenic using multisyringe flow injection analysis (MSFIA) is reported. The hydride (arsine) was generated by injecting precise known volumes of sample, a reducing sodium tetrahydroborate solution (0.2%), hydrochloric acid (6 M) and a pre-reducing solution (potassium iodide 10% and ascorbic acid 0.2%) to the system using a multisyringe burette coupled with one multi-port selection valve. This solution is used to pre-reduce As(V) to As(III), when the task is to speciate As(III) and As(V). As(V) is determined by the difference between total inorganic arsenic and As(III). The reagents are dispensed into a gas-liquid separation cell. An argon flow delivers the arsine into the flame of an atomic fluorescence spectrometer. A hydrogen flow has been used to support the flame. Nitrogen has been employed as a drier gas (Fig. 1).Several variables such as sample and reagents volumes, flow rates and reagent concentrations were investigated in detail. A linear calibration graph was obtained for arsenic determination between 0.1 and 3 μg l−1. The detection limit of the proposed technique (3σb/S) was 0.05 μg l−1. The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) of As at 1 μg l−1 was 4.4 % (n = 15). A sample throughput of 10 samples per hour was achieved. This technique was validated by means of reference solid and water materials with good agreement with the certified values. Satisfactory results for speciation of As(III) and As(V) by means of the developed technique were obtained.  相似文献

A not expensive automatic flow system based on multicommutation and exploiting the liquid-liquid extraction methodology for the determination of lead in plant material is described. The spectrophotometric procedure for lead determination was based on the reaction with dithizone followed by extraction using an organic solvent. The facilities afforded by the multicommutation approach allowed the use of an air stream as carrier, thus contributing to reduce the overall waste generation. The results obtained analysing plant materials compare very well with those obtained employing inductive coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP OES) at 90% confidence level. Others profitable features such as a linear response range between 50 and 200 μg l−1 Pb (r = 0.999); a sampling rate of 15 determination per hour; a relative standard deviation of 1.8% (n = 12) for a typical sample containing 163 μg l−1 Pb; a detection limit of 12 μg l−1; a reagent consumption of 4.5 mg dithizone; and a waste generation of 225 μl organic solvent per determination were also achieved.  相似文献

The operational characteristics of a novel poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) bead material, granular Algoflon®, used for separation and preconcentration of metal ions via adsorption of on-line generated non-charged metal complexes, were evaluated in a sequential injection (SI) system furnished with an external packed column and in a sequential injection lab-on-valve (SI-LOV) system. Employed for the determination of cadmium(II), complexed with diethyldithiophosphate (DDPA), and detection by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS), its performance was compared to that of a previously used material, Aldrich PTFE, which had demonstrated that PTFE was the most promising for solid-state pretreatments. By comparing the two materials, the Algoflon® beads exhibited much higher sensitivity (1.6107 μg l−1 versus 0.2956 μg l−1 per integrated absorbance (s)), and better retention efficiency (82% versus 74%) and enrichment factor (20.8 versus 17.2), although a slightly smaller linear dynamic range (0.05-0.25 μg l−1 versus 0.05-1.00 μg l−1). Moreover, no flow resistance was encountered under the experimental conditions used. The results obtained on three standard reference materials were in good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

A new analytical procedure for determination of inorganic antimony and speciation of antimony(III) and antimony(V) is presented. For this purpose, a software-controlled time-based multisyringe flow injection system, which contains a multisyringe burette provided with a multi-port selection valve, was developed. Hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry was used as a detection technique. A 0.3% (w/v) reducing sodium tetrahydroborate solution, hydrochloric acid (2 M), an antimony solution and a pre-reducing solution of 10% (w/v) KI and 0.3% (w/v) ascorbic acid are dispensed simultaneously into a gas-liquid separation cell with further propulsion of the reaction product into the flame of an atomic fluorescence spectrometer using argon flow. A hydrogen flow was employed to support the flame. The linear range and the detection limit (3sb/S) of the proposed technique were 0.2-5.6 μg l−1 and 0.08 μg l−1, respectively. A sample throughput of 18 samples per hour (corresponding to 80 injections per hour) was achieved. The relative standard deviation for 18 independent measurements was 4.6%. This technique was validated by means of reference solid and water materials with good agreement with the certified values. Satisfactory results for speciation of Sb(III) and Sb(V) by means of the developed technique were obtained.  相似文献

A simple and robust time-based on-line sequential injection system for trace mercury determination via cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS), employing a new integrated gas-liquid separator (GLS), which in parallel operates as reactor, was developed. Sample and reductant are sequentially loaded into the GLS while an argon flow delivers the released mercury vapour through the atomic absorption cell. The proposed method is characterized by the ability of successfully managing variable sample volume up to 30 ml in order to achieve high sensitivity. For 20 ml sample volume, the sampling frequency is 25 h−1. The calibration curve is linear over the concentration range 0.05-5.0 μg l−1 of Hg(II), the detection limit is cL = 0.02 μg l−1, and the relative standard deviation is sr = 2.6% at 1.0 μg l−1 Hg(II) level. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated by analyzing certified reference material and applied to the analysis of natural waters and biological samples.  相似文献

A greener and sensitive procedure for spectrophotometric determination of phenols based on a multicommuted flow system with a 100 cm optical path flow cell is presented. The method exploited the oxidative coupling of phenolic compounds with 4-aminoantipyrine in alkaline medium containing potassium hexacyanoferrate(III). Sensitivity was 80-fold higher than that achieved with a 1 cm flow cell, making feasible the determination of phenols in the 10-100 μg l−1 range with a detection limit estimated as 1 μg l−1 phenol. The sampling rate and the coefficient of variation were estimated as 90 determinations per hour and 0.6% (n=10), respectively. The multicommutation approach allowed a 200-fold reduction of the reagent consumption in comparison with the reference batch method. Moreover, the chloroform extraction for analyte concentration is unnecessary in view of the increase in sensitivity. Recoveries within 93.3 and 106% were achieved for determination of phenol in natural and wastewater samples. Results agreed with the obtained by a reference method at the 95% confidence level.  相似文献

A liquid-liquid extraction flow analysis procedure for the spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum in plants at μg l−1 level is described. The flow network comprised a set of solenoid valves assembled to implement the multicommutation approach under microcomputer control. Radiation source (LED, 475 nm), detector (photodiode) and separation chamber were nested together with the flow cell comprising a compact unit. The consumption of reagents (potassium thiocyanate and stannous chloride) and also extracting solvent (isoamyl alcohol) were optimized to 32 mg and 200 μl per determination, respectively. Accuracy was assessed by comparing results with those obtained with ICP-OES and no significant difference at 95% confidence level was observed. Other favorable characteristics such as a linear response ranging from 25 to 150 μg l−1 molybdenum (r=0.999); detection limit of 4.6 μg l−1 sample throughput of 25 determinations per hour and relative standard deviation of 2.5% (n=10) were also achieved.  相似文献

An automated and versatile sequential injection spectrofluorimetric procedure for the simultaneous determination of multicomponent mixtures in micellar medium without prior separation processes is reported. The methodology is based upon the segmentation of a sample slug between two different buffer zones in order to attain both an improvement of sensitivity and residual minimization for the whole species. Resolution of overlapping fluorescence profiles is achieved using a variable angle scanning technique coupled to multivariate least-squares regression (MLR) algorithms at both sample edges. The potentialities of the described methodology are illustrated with the spectrofluorimetric determination of four widespread pesticides with different acid-base properties; viz. carbaryl (CBL) (1-naphthyl-N-methylcarbamate), fuberidazole (FBZ) (2-(2′-furyl)benzimidazole), thiabendazole (TBZ) (2-(4′-thiazolyl)benzimidazole) and warfarin (W) (3-α-acetonylbenzyl)-4-hydroxycoumarin). Detection limits at the 3σ level were 3.9, 0.02, 0.03 and 10 μg l−1 for CBL, FBZ, TBZ and W, respectively at the maximum sensitivity pH. Dynamic ranges of 13-720 μg l−1 CBL, 0.10-14 μg l−1 FBZ, 0.19-60 μg l−1 TBZ and 0.05-5 mg l−1 W were achieved. Relative standard deviations (n=10) were 0.2% for 100 μg l−1 CBL and 2.4 μg l−1 FBZ, 0.7% for 8 μg l−1 TBZ and 1.0% for 1 mg l−1 W. The proposed automated methodology, which handles 17 samples/h, was validated and applied to spiked real water samples with very satisfactory results.  相似文献

A robust flow injection (FI) on-line liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) preconcentration/separation system associated with a newly designed gravitational phase separator, coupled to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was developed. The performance of the system was illustrated for cadmium determination at the μg l−1 level. The non-charged cadmium complex with ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC) was extracted on-line into isobutyl methyl ketone (IBMK). The organic phase was effectively separated from a large volume of aqueous phase and is led into a 100 μl loop of an injection valve before its introduction into the nebulizer. The system was optimized and offered good performance characteristics with unlimited life time of phase separator, greater flow rate ratios and improved flexibility, as compared with other solvent extraction preconcentration systems. With a sampling frequency of 33 h−1, the enhancement factor was 155, the detection limit was 0.02 μg l−1, the relative standard deviation was 3.2% at 2.0 μg l−1 Cd concentration level and the calibration curve was linear over the concentration range 0.06-6.0 μg l−1. The accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated by analyzing a certified reference material of water and by recovery measurements on spiked samples. Finally, it was successfully applied to the analysis of tapwater, river and seawater samples.  相似文献

In this work, a novel flow-through solid-phase based chemiluminescence (CL) optical sensor is described for the trace determination of orthophosphate in waters exploiting the multisyringe flow injection analysis (MSFIA) concept with multicommutation. The proposed time-based injection flow system relies upon the in-line derivatisation of the analyte with ammonium molybdate in the presence of vanadate, and the transient immobilisation of the resulting heteropolyacid in a N-vinylpyrrolidone/divinylbenzene copolymer packed spiral shape flow-through cell located in front of the window of a photomultiplier tube. The simultaneous injection of well-defined slugs of luminol in alkaline medium and methanol solution towards the packed reactor is afterwards performed by proper switching of the solenoid valves. Then, the light emission from the luminol oxidation by the oxidant species retained onto the sorbent material is readily detected. At the same time, the generated molybdenum-blue compound is eluted by the minute amount of injected methanol, rendering the system prepared for a new measuring cycle. Therefore, the devised sensor enables the integration of the solid-phase CL reaction with elution and detection of the emitted light without the typical drawbacks of the molybdenum-blue based spectrophotometric procedures regarding the excess of molybdate anion, which causes high background signals due to its self-reduction. The noteworthy features of the developed CL-MSFIA system are the feasibility to accommodate reactions with different pH requirements and the ability to determine trace levels of orthophosphate in high silicate content samples (Si/P ratios up to 500). Under the optimised conditions, a dynamic linear range from 5 to 50 μg P l−1 for a 1.8 ml sample, repeatability better than 3.0% and a quantification limit of 4 μg P l−1 were attained. The flowing stream system handles 11 analysis h−1 and has been successfully applied to the determination of trace levels of orthophosphate in environmental samples such as mineral, ground, tap and pond waters as well as samples from a water-steam cycle of an incineration plant. The t-test comparison of the means for the developed optical sensor and the molybdenum-blue spectrophotometric APHA/AWWA/WPCF reference method revealed that there is no evidence of significant differences between the obtained results at the 95% confidence level.  相似文献

A procedure involving bead-injection concept and sequential determination of copper and mercury ions in river-water samples is proposed. The method is based on the solid-phase extraction of both metal ions on the same beads surface (Chelex 100 resin) and in their subsequent reaction with the colorimetric reagents (APDC and Dithizone for copper and mercury ions, respectively). For this task, a resin mini-column is established in the optical path by the selection, introduction and trapping of a defined volume of the Chelex-100 resin beads suspension in the flow system. The passage of the sample solution through the resin mini-column promotes the sorption of Cu(II) ions and, making the APDC colorimetric reagent flows through the beads, the formation of the coloured complex on the solid phase surface occurs. The absorbance of the formed APDC-Cu complex is then monitored at 436 nm and the spent beads are discarded. Packing another resin mini-column in the flow cell and repeating the concentration step it is possible to carried out the mercury determination by using Dithizone as reagent. The absorbance of the Dithizone-Hg complex is monitored at 500 nm. After each measurement, the spent beads are wasted and a new portion of fresh one is trapped in the system, letting it ready for the next measurement. The bead injection system is versatile and can be used to concentrate different sample volumes, which permits the determination of a wide range of copper and mercury ions concentrations. When the sample-selected volumes are 100 and 1000 μl the analytical ranges were 5.0 up to 500.0 μg l−1 and 2.5 up to 30.0 μg l−1 for Cu(II) and Hg(II) ions, respectively. Under these conditions, the detection limit was estimated as 0.63 and 0.25 μg l−1 for copper and mercury ions determination. The system consumes 2 mg of Chelex 100 resin beads, 0.20 mg of APDC or 1.25 mg of Dithizone per determination and the traditional organic solvent extraction methodology, normally used in connection with APDC and Dithizone reagents, is not used here which permits to classify the present method as green.  相似文献

A flow injection method for monitoring xylitol was developed using xylitol oxidase (XYO) immobilized on a VA-Epoxy Biosynth E3-support. The immobilized XYO cartridge had a good operational lifetime (up to 24 h) and storage stability (up to 1 month). The XYO-FIA system with an oxygen electrode was investigated systematically regarding the factors that can affect enzyme activity, such as pH, reaction temperature, carrier solution and sample matrix. In order to attain high activity of the immobilized XYO, potassium phosphate solution (1 M) with 0.5 g l−1 Triton X-100 adjusted to pH 8.5 was used as the carrier solution. Sample matrix effects on the immobilized XYO were also investigated. High concentrations of some components (arabinose, 20 g l−1; xylose, 30 g l−1; NaCl, 30 g l−1) in the sample had significant inhibitory effects on the response of the XYO-FIA system. The performance of the XYO-FIA system was tested by using different sample injection volumes (75-250 μl) and carrier flow rates (0.7-2.0 ml min−1).  相似文献

A fully automated flow-through microcolumn fractionation system with on-line post-extraction derivatization is proposed for monitoring of orthophosphate in solid samples of environmental relevance. The system integrates dynamic sequential extraction using 1.0 mol l−1 NH4Cl, 0.1 mol l−1 NaOH and 0.5 mol l−1 HCl as extractants according to the Hieltjes-Lijklema (HL) scheme for fractionation of phosphorus associated with different geological phases, and on-line processing of the extracts via the Molybdenum Blue (MB) reaction by exploiting multisyringe flow injection as the interface between the solid containing microcolumn and the flow-through detector. The proposed flow assembly, capitalizing on the features of the multicommutation concept, implies several advantages as compared to fractionation analysis in the batch mode in terms of saving of extractants and MB reagents, shortening of the operational times from days to hours, highly temporal resolution of the leaching process and the capability for immediate decision for stopping or proceeding with the ongoing extraction. Very importantly, accurate determination of the various orthophosphate pools is ensured by minimization of the hydrolysis of extracted organic phosphorus and condensed inorganic phosphates within the time frame of the assay. The potential of the novel system for accommodation of the harmonized protocol from the Standards, Measurement and Testing (SMT) Program of the Commission of the European Communities for inorganic phosphorus fractionation was also addressed. Under the optimized conditions, the lowest detectable concentration at the 3σ level was ≤0.02 mg P l−1 for both the HL and SMT schemes regardless of the extracting media. The repeatability of the MB assay was better than 2.5% and the dynamic linear range extended up to 7.0 mg P l−1 in NH4Cl and NaOH media and 15 mg P l−1 whenever HCl is utilized as extractant for both the HL and SMT protocols.  相似文献

A new sequential injection spectrophotometric method was proposed for the determination of metoclopramide and tetracaine hydrochloride. The method was based on the detection of an unstable red intermediate compound resulting from the reaction of metoclopramide or tetracaine hydrochloride with potassium dichromate, in the presence of sodium oxalate, in sulfuric acid solution. The related reaction mechanisms of this new method have been studied. The experimental conditions were optimized for the stopped-flow and continuous-flow sequential injection models. For continuous flow, the linear range for determination of metoclopramide, the detection limit and the sampling frequency were 13-130 μg ml−1, 9.4 μg ml−1 and 40 samples per hour, respectively. For stopped flow, they were 3-42 μg ml−1, 1.0 μg ml−1 and 18 h−1, respectively. Adopting the continuous-flow model for tetracaine hydrochloride, the linear range was 25-300 μg ml−1, and the detection limit was 18.0 μg ml−1 with sampling frequency of 40 h−1. This method has been used to determine metoclopramide and tetracaine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations, and the results are compared with those determined by the pharmacopoeia method. Statistical analysis reveals that there was no evidence of significant difference between the methods.  相似文献

A novel chemiluminescence gas-diffusion flow injection system for the determination of arsenic(III) in aqueous samples is described. The analytical procedure involves injection of arsenic(III) samples and standards into a 0.3 mol L−1 hydrochloric acid carrier stream which is merged with a reagent stream containing 0.2% (w/v) sodium borohydride and 0.015 mol L−1 sodium hydroxide. Arsine, generated in the combined carrier/reagent donor stream, diffuses across the hydrophobic Teflon membrane of the gas-diffusion cell into an argon acceptor stream and then reacts with ozone in the flow-through chemiluminescence measuring cell of the flow system. Under optimal conditions, the method is characterized by a wide linear calibration range from 0.6 μg L−1 to 25 mg L−1, a detection limit of 0.6 μg L−1 and a sample throughput of 300 samples per hour at 25 mg L−1 and 450 samples per hour at 25 μg L−1.  相似文献

Cobalt(II) phthalocyanine [Co(II)Pc] is used as both an ionophore and chromogen for batch and flow injection potentiometric and spectrophotometric determination of anionic surfactants (SDS), respectively. The potentiometric technique involves preparation of a polymeric membrane sensor by dispersing [Co(II)Pc] in a plasticized PVC membrane. Under batch mode of operation, the sensor displays a near-Nernstian slope of −56.5 mV decade−1, wide response linear range of 7.8 × 10−4 to 8.0 × 10−7 mol L−1, lower detection limit of 2.5 × 10−7 mol L−1 and exhibits high selectivity for anionic surfactants in the presence of many common ions. Under hydrodynamic mode of operation (FIA), the slope of the calibration plot, limit of detection, and working linear range are −51.1 mV decade−1, 5.6 × 10−7 and 1.0 × 10−3 to 1.0 × 10−6 mol L−1, respectively. The spectrophotometric method is based on the use of [Co(II)Pc] solution in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as a chromogenic reagent. The maximum absorption of the reagent at 658 nm linearly decreases with the increase of anionic surfactant over the concentration range 2-30 μg mL−1. The lower limit of detection is 1 μg mL−1 and high concentrations of many interfering ions are tolerated. Flow injection spectrophotometric measurements are carried out by injection of the surfactant test solution in a stream of the reagent in DMSO. The sample throughput, working range and lower detection limit are 25-30 samples h−1, 4-60 and 2 μg mL−1, respectively. The potentiometric and spectrophotometric techniques are applied to the batch and flow injection measurements of anionic surfactants in some commercial detergent products. The results agree fairly well with data obtained using the standard methylene blue spectrophotometric method.  相似文献
