The activation of carbon dioxide by transition metals is widely recognized as a key step for utilizing this greenhouse gas as a renewable feedstock for the sustainable production of fine chemicals. However, the dynamics of CO2 binding and unbinding to and from the ligand sphere of a metal have never been observed in the time domain. The ferrioxalate anion is used in aqueous solution as a unique model system for these dynamics and femtosecond UV‐pump mid‐infrared‐probe spectroscopy is applied to explore its photoinduced primary processes in a time‐resolved fashion. Following optical excitation, a neutral CO2 molecule is expelled from the complex within about 500 fs to generate a highly intriguing pentacoordinate ferrous dioxalate that carries a bent carbon dioxide radical anion ligand, that is, a reductively activated form of CO2, which is end‐on‐coordinated to the metal center by one of its two oxygen atoms.  相似文献

Gas sensing technologies for smart cities require miniaturization, cost‐effectiveness, low power consumption, and outstanding sensitivity and selectivity. On‐chip, tailorable capacitive sensors integrated with metal–organic framework (MOF) films are presented, in which abundant coordinatively unsaturated metal sites are available for gas detection. The in situ growth of homogeneous Mg‐MOF‐74 films is realized with an appropriate metal‐to‐ligand ratio. The resultant sensors exhibit selective detection for benzene vapor and carbon dioxide (CO2) at room temperature. Postsynthetic modification of Mg‐MOF‐74 films with ethylenediamine decreases sensitivity toward benzene but increases selectivity to CO2. The reduced porosity and blocked open metal sites caused by amine coordination account for a deterioration in the sensing performance for benzene (by ca. 60 %). The enhanced sensitivity for CO2 (by ca. 25 %) stems from a tailored amine–CO2 interaction. This study demonstrates the feasibility of tuning gas sensing properties by adjusting MOF–analyte interactions, thereby offering new perspectives for the development of MOF‐based sensors.  相似文献

Based on the a ligand BDPPZ [(9a,13a‐dihydro‐4,5,9,14‐tetraaza‐benzo[b]triphenylene‐11‐yl)‐phenyl‐methanone] (1) and its polypyridyl hetero‐ and homoleptic Ru(II) metal complexes, [Ru(bpy)2L](PF6)2 (2), [Ru(phen)2L](PF6)2 (3), [Ru(dafo)2L](PF6)2 (4), [Ru(dcbpy)2L](PF6)2 (5) and [RuL3](PF6)2 (6) (where, L = ligand, bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine, phen = 1,10‐phenantroline, dafo = 4,5‐diazafluoren‐9‐one and dcbpy = 3,3′‐dicarboxy‐2,2′‐bipyridine), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, UV–vis, FT‐IR, 1H and 13C‐NMR spectra (for ligand), molar conductivity measurements and X‐ray powder techniques. The electrochemical parameters of the substituted ligand and its polypyridyl hetero‐ and homoleptic Ru(II) metal complexes are reported by cyclic voltammetry. UV–vis spectroscopy is used to compare the differences between the conjugated π systems in this ligand and its Ru(II) metal complexes. The polypyridyl hetero‐ and homoleptic Ru(II) metal complexes also tested as catalysts for the formation of cyclic organic carbonates from carbon dioxide and liquid epoxides which served as both reactant and solvent. The results showed that the [Ru(L)3](PF6)2 (6) complex is more efficient than the other Ru(II) complexes for the formation of cyclic organic carbonates from carbon dioxide. In the reaction of 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium acetate [C2C1Im][OAc] ionic liquid with carbon dioxide at 125 °C and 10 MPa, not only the known N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC)–CO2 adduct I , but also isomeric aNHC‐CO2 adducts II and III were obtained. The abnormal NHC‐CO2 adducts are stabilized by the presence of the polarizing basic acetate anion, according to static DFT calculations and ab initio molecular dynamics studies. A further possible reaction pathway is facilitated by the high basicity of the system, deprotonating the initially formed NHC‐CO2 adduct I , which can then be converted in the presence of the excess of CO2 to the more stable 2‐deprotonated anionic abnormal NHC–CO2 adduct via the anionic imidazolium‐2,4‐dicarboxylate according to DFT calculations on model compounds. This suggests a generalizable pathway to abnormal NHC complex formation.  相似文献

The typical preparation route of carbon‐supported metallic catalyst is complex and uneconomical. Herein, we reported a thiol‐assisted one‐pot method by using 3‐mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) to synthesize carbon‐supported metal nanoparticles catalysts for efficient electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR). We found that the synthesized Au?MPA/C catalyst achieves a maximum CO faradaic efficiency (FE) of 96.2% with its partial current density of ?11.4 mA/cm2, which is much higher than that over Au foil or MPA‐free carbon‐supported Au (Au/C). The performance improvement in CO2RR over the catalyst is probably derived from the good dispersion of Au nanoparticles and the surface modification of the catalyst caused by the specific interaction between Au nanoparticles and MPA. This thiol‐assisted method can be also extended to synthesize Ag?MPA/C with enhanced CO2RR performance.  相似文献

The concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is increasing at an alarming rate resulting in undesirable environmental issues. To mitigate this growing concentration of CO2, selective carbon capture and storage/sequestration (CCS) are being investigated intensively. However, CCS technology is considered as an expensive and energy‐intensive process. In this context, selective carbon capture and utilization (CCU) as a C1 feedstock to synthesize value‐added chemicals and fuels is a promising step towards lowering the concentration of the atmospheric CO2 and for the production of high‐value chemicals. Towards this direction, several strategies have been developed to convert CO2, a Greenhouse gas (GHG) into useful chemicals by forming C?N, C?O, C?C, and C?H bonds. Among the various CO2 functionalization processes known, the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides has gained considerable interest owing to its 100% atom‐economic nature producing cyclic carbonates or polycarbonates in high yield and selectivity. Among the various classes of catalysts studied for cycloaddition of CO2 to cyclic carbonates, porous metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained a special interest due to their modular nature facilitating the introduction of a high density of Lewis acidic (LA) and CO2‐philic Lewis basic (LB) functionalities. However, most of the MOF‐based catalysts reported for cycloaddition of CO2 to respective cyclic carbonates in high yields require additional co‐catalyst, say tetra‐n‐butylammonium bromide (TBAB). On the contrary, the co‐catalyst‐free conversion of CO2 using rationally designed MOFs composed of both LA and LB sites is relatively less studied. In this review, we provide a comprehensive account of the research progress in the design of MOF based catalysts for environment‐friendly, co‐catalyst‐free fixation of CO2 into cyclic carbonates.  相似文献

The title compound, [Cd2(SO3)2(C18H12N6)2]·8H2O, is a dimer built up around a symmetry center, where the sulfite anion displays a so far unreported coordination mode in metal‐organic complexes; the anion binds as a μ2‐sulfite‐κ4O,O′:O′,O′′ ligand to two symmetry‐related seven‐coordinate CdII cations, binding through its three O atoms by way of two chelate bites with an O atom in common, which acts as a bridge. The cation coordination is completed by a 2,4,6‐tri‐2‐pyridyl‐1,3,5‐triazine ligand acting in its usual tridentate mode.  相似文献

A considerable challenge in the conversion of carbon dioxide into useful fuels comes from the activation of CO2 to CO2.? or other intermediates, which often requires precious‐metal catalysts, high overpotentials, and/or electrolyte additives (e.g., ionic liquids). We report a microwave heating strategy for synthesizing a transition‐metal chalcogenide nanostructure that efficiently catalyzes CO2 electroreduction to carbon monoxide (CO). We found that the cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoneedle arrays exhibit an unprecedented current density of 212 mA cm?2 with 95.5±4.0 % CO Faraday efficiency at ?1.2 V versus a reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE; without iR correction). Experimental and computational studies show that the high‐curvature CdS nanostructured catalyst has a pronounced proximity effect which gives rise to large electric field enhancement, which can concentrate alkali‐metal cations resulting in the enhanced CO2 electroreduction efficiency.  相似文献

Designing effective electrocatalysts for the carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR) is an appealing approach to tackling the challenges posed by rising CO2 levels and realizing a closed carbon cycle. However, fundamental understanding of the complicated CO2RR mechanism in CO2 electrocatalysis is still lacking because model systems are limited. We have designed a model nickel single‐atom catalyst (Ni SAC) with a uniform structure and well‐defined Ni‐N4 moiety on a conductive carbon support with which to explore the electrochemical CO2RR. Operando X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and near‐ambient X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, revealed that Ni+ in the Ni SAC was highly active for CO2 activation, and functioned as an authentic catalytically active site for the CO2RR. Furthermore, through combination with a kinetics study, the rate‐determining step of the CO2RR was determined to be *CO2?+H+→*COOH. This study tackles the four challenges faced by the CO2RR; namely, activity, selectivity, stability, and dynamics.  相似文献

Metal‐free systems, including frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) have been shown to bind CO2. By reducing the Lewis acidity and basicity of the ambiphilic system, it is possible to generate active catalysts for the deoxygenative hydroboration of carbon dioxide to methanol derivatives with conversion rates comparable to those of transition‐metal‐based catalysts.  相似文献

The deoxygenative conversion of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide is promoted by the aluminyl anion [Al(NONAr)]? (NONAr=[O(SiMe2NAr)2]2?, Ar=2,6‐iPr2C6H3). The reaction proceeds via the isolable monoalumoxane anion [Al(NONAr)(O)]?, containing a terminal aluminum‐oxygen bond. This species reacts with a second equivalent of carbon dioxide to afford the carbonate [Al(NONAr)(CO3)]?, and with nitrous oxide to generate the hyponitrite anion, [Al(NONAr)(κ2O,O′‐N2O2)]?.  相似文献

Adsorption of carbon dioxide on H‐ZSM‐5 zeolite (Si:Al=11.5:1) was studied by means of variable‐temperature FT‐IR spectroscopy, in the temperature range of 310–365 K. The adsorbed CO2 molecules interact with the zeolite Brønsted‐acid OH groups bringing about a characteristic red‐shift of the O? H stretching band from 3610 cm?1 to 3480 cm?1. Simultaneously, the ν3 mode of adsorbed CO2 is observed at 2345 cm?1. From the variation of integrated intensity of the IR absorption bands at both 3610 and 2345 cm?1, upon changing temperature (and CO2 equilibrium pressure), the standard adsorption enthalpy of CO2 on H‐ZSM‐5 is ΔH0=?31.2(±1) kJ mol?1 and the corresponding entropy change is ΔS0=?140(±10) J mol?1 K?1. These results are discussed in the context of available data for carbon dioxide adsorption on other protonic, and also alkali‐metal exchanged, zeolites.  相似文献

The hydrogenation of carbon dioxide involves the activation of the thermodynamically very stable molecule CO2 and formation of a C−H bond. Herein, we report that HCO2 and CO can be formed in the thermal reaction of CO2 with a diatomic metal hydride species, FeH. The FeH anions were produced by laser ablation, and the reaction with CO2 was analyzed by mass spectrometry and quantum‐chemical calculations. Gas‐phase HCO2 was observed directly as a product, and its formation was predicted to proceed by facile hydride transfer. The mechanism of CO2 hydrogenation in this gas‐phase study parallels similar behavior of a condensed‐phase iron catalyst.  相似文献

Electrocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) has recently received considerable attention as one of the most feasible CO2 utilization techniques. In particular, copper and copper‐derived catalysts have exhibited the ability to produce a number of organic molecules from CO2. Herein, we report a chloride (Cl)‐induced bi‐phasic cuprous oxide (Cu2O) and metallic copper (Cu) electrode (Cu2OCl) as an efficient catalyst for the formation of high‐carbon organic molecules by CO2 conversion, and identify the origin of electroselectivity toward the formation of high‐carbon organic compounds. The Cu2OCl electrocatalyst results in the preferential formation of multi‐carbon fuels, including n‐propanol and n‐butane C3–C4 compounds. We propose that the remarkable electrocatalytic conversion behavior is due to the favorable affinity between the reaction intermediates and the catalytic surface.  相似文献

A one‐step ligand‐free method based on an adsorption–precipitation process was developed to fabricate iridium/cerium oxide (Ir/CeO2) nanocatalysts. Ir species demonstrated a strong metal–support interaction (SMSI) with the CeO2 substrate. The chemical state of Ir could be finely tuned by altering the loading of the metal. In the carbon dioxide (CO2) hydrogenation reaction it was shown that the chemical state of Ir species—induced by a SMSI—has a major impact on the reaction selectivity. Direct evidence is provided indicating that a single‐site catalyst is not a prerequisite for inhibition of methanation and sole production of carbon monoxide (CO) in CO2 hydrogenation. Instead, modulation of the chemical state of metal species by a strong metal–support interaction is more important for regulation of the observed selectivity (metallic Ir particles select for methane while partially oxidized Ir species select for CO production). The study provides insight into heterogeneous catalysts at nano, sub‐nano, and atomic scales.  相似文献

Anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere have had a significant impact on the Earth's carbon cycle. As part of the global effort to reduce climate change, the geological storage of CO2 has been accepted as a method that may provide up to 25 % of the total reduction of emissions, although this figure is still subject to change. In Germany and worldwide, geological storage capacities are expected to be sufficient for several decades. Carbon dioxide can be captured from sources such as large‐scale industrial (energy, steel, cement or chemical) facilities and transported to long‐term storage sites in deep saltwater‐bearing aquifers. Above the porous sandstone reservoirs in which the CO2 is to be stored, an impermeable cap rock is required to provide a barrier for the upward‐migrating gas. In time, a significant quantity of the CO2 can be retained within the reservoir pore space by capillary forces, dissolved in water to form carbonic acid, or deposited as carbonate minerals. The storage site must be free of potential leakage pathways. To this end, extensive monitoring programs need to be carried out. The Ketzin pilot site, an example of such a program, has shown CO2 storage on a research scale to be safe and reliable.  相似文献

The chemoselectivity of the palladium‐catalyzed carbonylation of amines was affected by the addition of MeOH in supercritical carbon dioxide. The results show different selectivity in supercritical carbon dioxide CO2(sc) from that in alcohol. Methyl carbamate and its derivatives were obtained in high yields in CO2(sc).  相似文献

Carbon dioxide is a ubiquitous and inexpensive one‐carbon source for chemical synthesis, and the efficient incorporation of CO2 into organic molecules is of widespread research interest both for economic and ecological reasons. The methodologies to employ carbon dioxide as a single‐carbon unit to construct molecules relevant for agrochemical and pharmaceutical research include many elegant approaches, including asymmetric transformations. Even though remarkable achievements have been made in the field of light‐driven catalysis, especially photoredox catalysis, homogeneous light‐driven catalytic carboxylation by employing CO2 as the key reagent has only become a subject of increasing attention in recent years. Therefore, this concise review will discuss the latest advances in this research area.  相似文献

The development of efficient and low energy‐consumption catalysts for CO2 conversion is desired, yet remains a great challenge. Herein, a class of novel hollow porous carbons (HPC), featuring well dispersed dopants of nitrogen and single Zn atoms, have been fabricated, based on the templated growth of a hollow metal–organic framework precursor, followed by pyrolysis. The optimized HPC‐800 achieves efficient catalytic CO2 cycloaddition with epoxides, under light irradiation, at ambient temperature, by taking advantage of an ultrahigh loading of (11.3 wt %) single‐atom Zn and uniform N active sites, high‐efficiency photothermal conversion as well as the hierarchical pores in the carbon shell. As far as we know, this is the first report on the integration of the photothermal effect of carbon‐based materials with single metal atoms for catalytic CO2 fixation.  相似文献
