Two series of WO(x)/TiO(2) catalysts, containing W surface densities up to 4.4 W atoms/nm(2), were prepared by pore volume impregnation of two different supports, titanium oxyhydroxide (amorphous) or titanium oxide (crystallized, 100% anatase). The influence of W surface density and the nature of the support on the surface structure, development of the acidity, and catalytic performances were examined. The texture and structure of the catalysts were investigated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman and infrared spectroscopy. The catalytic activity was tested for 2-propanol dehydration and n-hexane isomerization. For catalysts obtained by impregnation of titanium oxide, XRD and Raman results showed that W was present as a surface phase. Infrared spectra indicated an increase in the degree of polymerization of W species with increasing W surface density. CO and lutidine adsorption, followed by infrared spectroscopy, showed an increase in the strength and abundance of Br?nsted acid sites (measured after lutidine desorption at 573 K) with the W surface density above a threshold of 1.3 W atoms/nm(2). The development of Br?nsted acidity correlated with the evolution of the infrared bands attributed to polymerized W species. A direct relationship was observed between the concentration of Br?nsted acid sites and the catalytic activity for 2-propanol dehydration. Catalytic activity, for n-hexane isomerization, appears to be associated with the presence of highly condensed W species. The catalysts synthesized by impregnation of titanium oxyhydroxide exhibited a comparable behavior. Hence, for a given W surface density, the W surface structure, concentration of Br?nsted acid sites, and catalytic performances were similar. Thus, no significant effect of the initial form of the support (titanium oxyhydroxide versus titanium oxide; 100% anatase) was evidenced.

Surprising catalytic activities have been found for the actinide complexes Cp*(2)ThMe(2) (1), Th(NEtMe)(4) (2), and Me(2)SiCp'(2)Th(C(4)H(9))(2) (3) toward oxygenated substrates. During the catalytic dimerization of benzaldehydes to their corresponding esters, complexes 1 and 2 gave 65 and 85% yield in 48 h, respectively, while the geometry-constrained complex 3 gave 96% yield in 24 h. Exploring the effect of substituents on benzaldehyde, it has been found that, in general, electron-withdrawing groups facilitate the reaction. Kinetic study with complexes 1 and 3 reveals that the rate of the reaction is first order in catalyst and substrate, which suggests the rate equation "rate = k[catalyst](1)[aldehyde](1)". The activation energy of the reaction was found to be 7.16 ± 0.40 and 3.47 ± 0.40 kcal/mol for complexes 1 and 3 respectively, which clearly indicates the advantage of the geometry-constrained complex. Astonishing are the reactivity of the organoactinide complexes with oxygen-containing substrates, and especially the reactivity of complex 3, toward the dimerization of substrates like p-methoxybenzaldehyde, m/p-nitrobenzaldehyde, and furanaldehyde and the reactivity toward the polymerization of terephthalaldehyde. Density functional theory mechanistic study reveals that the catalytic cycle proceeds via an initially four-centered transition state (+6 kcal/mol), followed by the rate-determining six-centered transition state (+13.5 kcal/mol), to yield thermodynamically stable products.

Oxygen activation by copper(I) complexes with tetra- or pentadentate mono- or dinucleating bispidine ligands is known to lead to unusually stable end-on-[{(bispidine)Cu}(2)(O(2))](2+) complexes (bispidines are methyl-2,4-bis(2-pyridin-yl)-3,7-diazabicyclo-[3.3.1]-nonane-9-diol-1,5-dicarboxylates); catecholase activity of these dinuclear Cu(II/I) systems has been demonstrated experimentally, and the mechanism has been thoroughly analyzed. The present density functional theory (DFT) based study provides an analysis of the electronic structure and catalytic activity of [{(bispidine)Cu}(2)(O(2))](2+). As a result of the unique square pyramidal coordination geometry, the d(x(2)-y(2)) ground state leads to an unusual σ/π bonding pattern, responsible for the stability of the peroxo complex and the observed catecholase activity with a unique mechanistic pathway. The oxidation of catechol to ortho-quinone (one molecule per catalytic cycle and concomitant formation of one equivalent of H(2)O(2)) is shown to occur via an associative, stepwise pathway. The unusual stability of the end-on-peroxo-dicopper(II) complex and isomerization to copper(II) complexes with chelating catecholate ligands, which inhibit the catalytic cycle, are shown to be responsible for an only moderate catalytic activity.

The bis(imino)pyridine iron bis(dinitrogen) complex, (iPrPDI)Fe(N2)2 (iPrPDI = 2,6-(2,6-iPr2C6H3NCR)2C5H3N), serves as an efficient precursor for the catalytic [2pi + 2pi] cycloaddition of alpha,omega-dienes to yield the corresponding bicycles. For amine substrates, the rate of catalytic turnover increases with the size of the nitrogen substituents, demonstrating competing heterocycle coordination and product inhibition. In one case, a bis(imino)pyridine iron azobicycloheptane product was characterized by X-ray diffraction. Preliminary mechanistic studies highlight the importance of the redox activity of the bis(imino)pyridine ligand to maintain the ferrous oxidation state throughout the catalytic cycle.

Unraveling the complex interaction between catalysts and reactants under operando conditions is a key step toward gaining fundamental insight in catalysis. We report the evolution of the structure and chemical composition of size-selected micellar Pt nanoparticles (~1 nm) supported on nanocrystalline γ-Al(2)O(3) during the catalytic oxidation of 2-propanol using X-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy. Platinum oxides were found to be the active species for the partial oxidation of 2-propanol (<140 °C), while the complete oxidation (>140 °C) is initially catalyzed by oxygen-covered metallic Pt nanoparticles, which were found to regrow a thin surface oxide layer above 200 °C. The intermediate reaction regime, where the partial and complete oxidation pathways coexist, is characterized by the decomposition of the Pt oxide species due to the production of reducing intermediates and the blocking of O(2) adsorption sites on the nanoparticle surface. The high catalytic activity and low onset reaction temperature displayed by our small Pt particles for the oxidation of 2-propanol is attributed to the large amount of edge and corner sites available, which facilitate the formation of reactive surface oxides. Our findings highlight the decisive role of the nanoparticle structure and chemical state in oxidation catalytic reactions.

In a 0.125 mol/L phosphate (pH 6.6)/2.5 x 10(-4) mol/L 2-iodoacetamide solution, lomefloxacin yields a response of a polarographic catalytic current. The second-order derivative peak current of the catalytic wave of lomefloxacin is proportional to its concentration in the range of 1.0 x 10(-8)-1.0 x 10(-6) mol/L (r = 0.998). The sensitivity of the catalytic wave is 25-times higher than that of the corresponding reduction wave for 5.0 x 10(-7) mol/L lomefloxacin. The proposed method was applied to the determination of lomefloxacin in pharmaceutical preparations. The polarographic reduction wave is ascribed to a one-electron reduction of the C=C bond of lomefloxacin zwitterion accompanied by an acid-base equilibrium. The catalytic wave should be caused by regeneration of the lomefloxacin molecule at electrode surface due to the one-electron reduction product being further oxidized by electroreductive intermediate products of 2-iodoacetamide.

Molybdenum-based catalysts supported on Al2O3 doped with Ni, Cu, or Fe oxide were synthesized and used in ethylbenzene dehydrogenation to produce styrene. The molybdenum oxide was sup-ported using an unconventional route that combined the polymeric precursor method (Pechini) and wet impregnation on commercial alumina. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, temperature-programmed reduction of H2 (H2-TPR), and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. XRD results showed that the added metals were well dis-persed on the alumina support. The addition of the metal oxide (Ni, Cu, or Fe) of 2 wt% by wet im-pregnation did not affect the texture of the support. TPR results indicated a synergistic effect be-tween the dopant and molybdenum oxide. The catalytic tests showed ethylbenzene conversion of 28%–53% and styrene selectivity of 94%–97%, indicating that the addition of the dopant improved the catalytic performance, which was related to the redox mechanism. Molybdenum oxides play a fundamental role in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene by its redox and acid–base properties. The sample containing Cu showed an atypical result with increasing conver-sion during the reaction, which was due to metal reduction. The Ni-containing solid exhibited the highest amount of carbon deposited, shown by TG analysis after the catalytic test, which explained its lower catalytic stability and selectivity.

The synthesis of the components of the dynamic supramolecular hydrogen-bonded catalytic system 2 + 3 is described. The catalytic performance and substrate- and enantioselectivity of Mn(salen) catalyst 2 were investigated in the presence and absence of the Zn(porphyrin) receptor unit 3. The effects of pyridine and pyridine N-oxide donor ligands were also studied. Some aspects on the mechanism of the Jacobsen-Katsuki epoxidation, based on literature observations, are introduced as a means to analyse the behaviour of 2 and its modulation by the formation of macrocycle 1 with 3. A complete association model of the metal-free system 4 + 5 refutes the earlier assumption that macrocycle 1 is the predominant form of catalyst 2 under the standard epoxidation reaction conditions with 2 + 3. Evidence are provided that receptor-binding substrates and nonbinding substrates, respectively, are epoxidised by two different catalytic species, or two distinct distributions of species in competitive epoxidations using catalytic system 2 + 3. The two species are assigned to the endo and exo faces of the Mn(salen) catalyst in macrocycle 1, and to equivalently folded oligomeric structures with monomers 2 and 3 in adjacent positions.

The oxidation of water catalyzed by [Ru(tpy)(bpy)(OH(2))](ClO(4))(2) (1; tpy = 2,2';6',2'-terpyridine; bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) is evaluated in different acidic media at variable oxidant concentrations. The observed rate of dioxygen evolution catalyzed by 1 is found to be highly dependent on pH and the identity of the acid; e.g., d[O(2)]/dt is progressively faster in H(2)SO(4), CF(3)SO(3)H (HOTf), HClO(4), and HNO(3), respectively. This trend does not track with thermodynamic driving force of the electron-transfer reactions between the terminal oxidant, (NH(4))(2)[Ce(NO(3))(6)] (CAN), and Ru catalyst in each of the acids. The particularly high reactivity in HNO(3) is attributed to the NO(3)(-) anion: (i) enabling relatively fast electron-transfer steps; (ii) participating in a base-assisted concerted atom-proton transfer process that circumvents the formation of high energy intermediates during the O-O bond formation process; and (iii) accelerating the liberation of dioxygen from the catalyst. Consequently, the position of the rate-determining step within the catalytic cycle can be affected by the acid medium. These factors collectively contribute to the position of the rate-determining step within the catalytic cycle being affected by the acid medium. This offering also outlines how other experimental issues (e.g., spontaneous decay of the Ce(IV) species in acidic media; CAN/catalyst molar ratio; types of catalytic probes) can affect the Ce(IV)-driven oxidation of water catalyzed by homogeneous molecular complexes.

Treatment of oxo and imido-rhenium(V) complexes Re(X)Cl3(PR3)2 (X = O, NAr, and R = Ph or Cy) (1-2) with Et3SiH affords Re(X)Cl2(H)(PR3)2 in high yields. Cycloaddition of silane across the ReX multiple bonds is not observed. Two rhenium(V) hydrides (X = O and R = Ph, 4a; X = NMes and R = Ph, 5a) have been structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. The kinetics of the reaction of Re(O)Cl3(PPh3)2 (1a) with Et3SiH is characterized by phosphine inhibition and saturation in [Et3SiH]. Hence, formation of Re(O)Cl2(H)(PPh3)2 (4a) proceeds via a sigma-adduct followed by heterolytic cleavage of the Si-H bond and transfer of silylium (Et3Si+) to chloride. Oxo and imido complexes of rhenium(V) (1-2) as well as their nitrido analogues, Re(N)Cl2(PR3)2 (3), catalyze the hydrosilylation of PhCHO under ambient conditions, with the reactivity order imido > oxo > nitrido. The isolable oxorhenium(V) hydride 4a reacts with PhCHO to afford the alkoxide Re(O)Cl2(OCH2Ph)(PPh3)2 (6a) with kinetic dependencies that are consistent with aldehyde coordination followed by aldehyde insertion into the Re-H bond. The latter (6a) regenerates the rhenium hydride upon reaction with Et3SiH. These stoichiometric reactions furnish a possible catalytic cycle. However, quantitative kinetic analysis of the individual stoichiometric steps and their comparison to steady-state kinetics of the catalytic reaction reveal that the observed intermediates do not account for the predominant catalytic pathway. Furthermore, for Re(O)Cl2(H)(PCy3)2 and Re(NMes)Cl2(H)(PPh3)2 aldehyde insertion into the Re-H bond is not observed. Therefore, based on the kinetic dependencies under catalytic conditions, a consensus catalytic pathway is put forth in which silane is activated via sigma-adduct formation cis to the ReX bond followed by heterolytic cleavage at the electrophilic rhenium center. The findings presented here demonstrate the so-called Halpern axiom, the observation of "likely" intermediates in a catalytic cycle, generally, signals a nonproductive pathway.

Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of two organozinc complexes that contain symmetrical phenalenyl (PLY)-based N,N-ligands. The reactions of phenalenyl-based ligands with ZnMe(2) led to the formation of organozinc complexes [N(Me),N(Me)-PLY]ZnMe (1) and [N(iPr),N(iPr)-PLY]ZnMe (2) under the evolution of methane. Both complexes (1 and 2) were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The solid-state structures of complexes 1 and 2 were determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Complexes 1 and 2 were used as catalysts for the intramolecular hydroamination of unactivated primary and secondary aminoalkenes. A combined approach of NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations was utilized to obtain better insight into the mechanistic features of the zinc-catalyzed hydroamination reactions. The progress of the catalysis for primary and secondary aminoalkene substrates with catalyst 2 was investigated by detailed kinetic studies, including kinetic isotope effect measurements. These results suggested pseudo-first-order kinetics for both primary and secondary aminoalkene activation processes. Eyring and Arrhenius analyses for the cyclization of a model secondary aminoalkene substrate afforded ΔH(≠) =11.3?kcal?mol(-1) , ΔS(≠) =-35.75?cal?K(-1) mol(-1) , and E(a) =11.68?kcal?mol(-1) . Complex 2 exhibited much-higher catalytic activity than complex 1 under identical reaction conditions. The in situ NMR experiments supported the formation of a catalytically active zinc cation and the DFT calculations showed that more active catalyst 2 generated a more stable cation. The stability of the catalytically active zinc cation was further supported by an in situ recycling procedure, thereby confirming the retention of catalytic activity of compound 2 for successive catalytic cycles. The DFT calculations showed that the preferred pathway for the zinc-catalyzed hydroamination reactions is alkene activation rather than the alternative amine-activation pathway. A detailed investigation with DFT methods emphasized that the remarkably higher catalytic efficiency of catalyst 2 originated from its superior stability and the facile formation of its cation compared to that derived from catalyst 1.

Dry reforming of methane by CO2 using nickel ferrite as precursor of catalysts was investigated.Nickel ferrite crystalline particles were prepared by coprecipitation of nitrates with NaOH or ammonia followed by calcination,or by hydrothermal synthesis without calcination step. The textural and structural properties were determined by a number of analysis methods, including X-ray diffraction (XRD),Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),among which X-ray diffraction (XRD) was at room and variable temperatures. All synthesized oxides showed the presence of micro or nanoparticles of NiFe2O4 inverse spinel, but Fe2O3 (hematite) was also present when ammonia was used for coprecipitation. The reducibility by hydrogen was studied by temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and in situ XRD,which showed the influence of the preparation method. The surface area (BET),particle size (Rietveld refinement),as well as surface Ni/Fe atomic ratio (XPS) and the behavior upon reduction varied according to the synthesis method. The catalytic reactivity was investigated using isopropanol decomposition to determine the acid/base properties. The catalytic performance of methane reforming with CO2 was measured with and without the pre-treatment of catalysts under H2 in 650-800 C range. The catalytic conversions of methane and CO2 were quite low but they increased when the catalysts were pre-reduced.A significant contribution of reverse water gas shift reaction accounted for the low values of H2 /CO ratio. No coking was observed as shown by the reoxidation step performed after the catalytic reactions. The possible formation of nickel-iron alloy observed during the study of reducibility by hydrogen was invoked to account for the catalytic behavior.

[reaction: see text] A new iridium-catalyzed oxidative cyclization of amino alcohols has been revealed. Indole derivatives are synthesized in good to excellent yields from 2-aminophenethyl alcohols by means of a [CpIrCl(2)](2)/K(2)CO(3) catalytic system. The present catalytic system is also effective for syntheses of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines from 3-(2-aminophenyl)propanols and 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1-benzazepine from 4-(2-aminophenyl)butanol.

Nickel (Ni) nanoparticles were immobilized on the surface of magnetic MgAl layered double hydroxide intercalated 10-molybdo-2-vanadophosphate (Fe–MgAl/Mo10V2–Ni) for the first time. The presence of Ni nanoparticles onthe high-surface area Fe–MgAl LDH structure in the presence of Mo10V2 makes this catalyst an ideal option in terms of efficiency and selectivity for Heck coupling reaction. Synergic effects of Mo10V2 and Ni were investigated by an electrochemical technique. Increasing of the ECSA of the catalyst compared to Fe–Mg–Al–Ni leads to enhancement of the catalytic activity and proves the synergic effect. A new catalytic mechanism was introduced for this kind of reaction. The resulting structure and its catalytic behavior were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, ICP-AES, TEM, SEM, EDX, EBSD, XPS, BET, VSM, CV, LSV and zeta potential analyses. More importantly, Fe–MgAl/Mo10V2–Ni can easily be separated from the reaction mixture using an external magnet and reused for at least four successive runs without any substantial reduction in its catalytic activity.

A new effective catalytic system consisting of [CpRhCl(2)](2)/K(2)CO(3) (Cp = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) for the lactamization of amino alcohols has been developed. As an example, the reaction of 3-(2-aminophenyl)-1-propanol in the presence of [CpRhCl(2)](2) (5.0% Rh) and K(2)CO(3) (10%) in acetone gives 3,4-dihydro-2(1H)-quinolinone in an isolated yield of 80%. A variety of five-, six-, and seven-membered benzo-fused lactams are synthesized by this catalytic system. [reaction: see text]  相似文献

Co-M(M=La,Ce, Fe,Mn, Cu,Cr)复合金属氧化物催化分解N2O   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

The mechanism that controls bond breaking at transition metal surfaces has been studied with sum frequency generation (SFG), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), and catalytic nanodiodes operating under the high-pressure conditions. The combination of these techniques permits us to understand the role of surface defects, surface diffusion, and hot electrons in dynamics of surface catalyzed reactions. Sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy and kinetic measurements were performed under 1.5 Torr of cyclohexene hydrogenation/dehydrogenation in the presence and absence of H(2) and over the temperature range 300-500 K on the Pt(100) and Pt(111) surfaces. The structure specificity of the Pt(100) and Pt(111) surfaces is exhibited by the surface species present during reaction. On Pt(100), pi-allyl c-C6H9, cyclohexyl (C6H11), and 1,4-cyclohexadiene are identified adsorbates, while on the Pt(111) surface, pi-allyl c-C6H9, 1,4-cyclohexadiene, and 1,3-cyclohexadiene are present. A scanning tunneling microscope that can be operated at high pressures and temperatures was used to study the Pt(111) surface during the catalytic hydrogenation/dehydrogenation of cyclohexene and its poisoning with CO. It was found that catalytically active surfaces were always disordered, while ordered surface were always catalytically deactivated. Only in the case of the CO poisoning at 350 K was a surface with a mobile adsorbed monolayer not catalytically active. From these results, a CO-dominated mobile overlayer that prevents reactant adsorption was proposed. By using the catalytic nanodiode, we detected the continuous flow of hot electron currents that is induced by the exothermic catalytic reaction. During the platinum-catalyzed oxidation of carbon monoxide, we monitored the flow of hot electrons over several hours using a metal-semiconductor Schottky diode composed of Pt and TiO2. The thickness of the Pt film used as the catalyst was 5 nm, less than the electron mean free path, resulting in the ballistic transport of hot electrons through the metal. The electron flow was detected as a chemicurrent if the excess electron kinetic energy generated by the exothermic reaction was larger than the effective Schottky barrier formed at the metal-semiconductor interface. The measurement of continuous chemicurrent indicated that chemical energy of exothermic catalytic reaction was directly converted into hot electron flux in the catalytic nanodiode. We found the chemicurrent was well-correlated with the turnover rate of CO oxidation separately measured by gas chromatography.

Hypophosphorous compounds (MOP(O)H(2), M = H, R(3)NH) effectively participate in metal-catalyzed C-P bond-forming reactions with allenes, dienes, and activated allylic electrophiles under mild conditions. The catalytic system Pd(2)dba(3)/xantphos is crucial to avoid or minimize the competitive reductive transfer-hydrogenation pathway available to hypophosphorous acid derivatives. Further investigation into the allylation mechanism provided access to the analogy allylic acetate-allylic phosphinate, which then led to the development of a Pd-catalyzed rearrangement of preformed allylic phosphinates esters and, ultimately, to a catalytic dehydrative allylation of hypophosphorous acid with allylic alcohols. The reactions disclosed herein constitute efficient synthetic approaches, not only to prepare allylic H-phosphinic acids but also their esters via one-pot tandem processes. In addition, the potential of H-phosphinates as useful synthons for the preparation of other organophosphorus compounds is demonstrated.
