受激布里渊散射会影响少模光纤传输系统中的信噪比、传输距离与传输容量,是影响传输系统入纤功率提高的重要因素。对阶跃型少模光纤的受激布里渊散射谱的阈值进行了研究,运用了布里渊散射谱、模式联运谱的数学模型对少模光纤散射特性进行了分析,探讨了少模光纤布里渊散射增益谱、阈值增益系数,以及光纤各参量对少模光纤阈值的影响。分析结果表明:SI-10阶跃型少模光纤中存在五种不同的传播模式,不同模式有各自的传输常数以及有效折射率,各模式相互作用导致模式展宽、增益降低,且布里渊散射谱峰值增益系数为3.9×10-11 m·W-1。阈值增益系数受到光纤传感距离的影响,在相对较短距离传输中阈值急速下降,且其趋势随长度增加渐趋平缓,当光纤长度达到22 km时阈值增益系数趋于常数18.1。少模光纤的阈值因光纤长度的递增而递减,且递减趋势渐缓趋于常数20.5 dBm;少模光纤不同模式受激布里渊散射的阈值也因光纤长度的递增而递减最终趋于常数,且不同模式的阈值因模式阶数的递增而递增;少模光纤的阈值随着光纤衰减系数和纤芯半径的递增而递增,且增加趋势缓慢增大。不同衰减系数的光纤其阈值在不同长度趋于常数,衰减系数越大受激布里渊散射阈值越大越容易趋于一常数。 相似文献

A first time O band Brillouin fiber laser is demonstrated and compared with the C band Brillouin fiber laser. By utilizing
a 20 km True wave fiber (TWF), the experiment demonstrated four Brillouin lines generated from the simple set-up of Brillouin
fiber laser. We compared the threshold between the Brillouin pump wavelength at 1310 nm which represent O band region and
1550 nm for C band region. It shows that the Brillouin threshold at O band region is smaller that C band. The channels spacing

We study threshold features of a Brillouin-shifted Stokes comb generated in a distributed fiber Raman amplifier. When the input power of Brillouin pump is linearly increased in high Raman gain, the first Stokes wave grows exponentially at much lower threshold power and then experiences an appreciable power decrease in the vicinity of the Brillouin comb's threshold. This power reduction of the first Brillouin Stokes, which we did not see mentioned in previous reports, was caused by a power transfer to higher-order lines and initiated Brillouin comb generation. Moreover, the effects of Raman pump power and pumping direction on the threshold of a Brillouin comb are investigated. 相似文献

A simple configuration for the reduction of stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold in photonic crystal fiber is presented.
The threshold reduction is contributed by the bidirectional pumping scheme through the reflection of transmitted Brillouin
pump back to the gain medium. The pump recycling scheme has greatly reduced the Brillouin threshold of a 200-m long of photonic

We have developed a theoretical approach to simulate stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) generation in photonic crystal fiber (PCF). The threshold condition for the SBS occurrence has been derived as a function of fiber parameters and input pump power. A particular emphasis is given to the influence of the input pump power and fiber length on the Brillouin gain in the PCF. To assess threshold pump power accurately, the pump depletion effect has been included by employing the 1% criterion. This simulation can anticipate the Brillouin threshold gain value precisely. The threshold gain varies from 14 to 18 depending on the PCF length. 相似文献

We studied an anomalous result in the measured stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold for single-mode optical fibers with different refractive index profiles and effective areas. It was found that, in addition to the optical effective area, the refractive-index-dependent interaction between the optical and the acoustic fields must be considered in order to account for the differences in the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold between fiber types. A detailed analytical formalism describing the acousto-optic interaction was derived to accommodate the influence of the index profile design on Brillouin scattering. 相似文献

Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is a key problem with the increasing power of fiber transmission systems. In this letter, a frequency-modulated fiber laser with an ultra-narrow linewidth is chosen as a light source. The SBS threshold is increased from 4.1 to 6.2 mW at 13-MHz frequency modulation amplitude for a 50-km G652 fiber. We also show that the SBS threshold increases with not only the frequency modulation amplitude, but also the modulation frequency. We demonstrate the passive suppression of stimulated Brillouin scattering in meter-length fiber-ring cavities through careful control of the fiber length. Experimentally we are able to demonstrate an over sixty-times increase in the Brillouin threshold of a 0.4 m fiber ring. This very simple suppression technique greatly simplifies the design of optical parametric devices based on fiber-ring cavities. 相似文献

The localized fluctuating model is used to study the intensity noise caused by the stimulated Brillouin scattering in a single-mode fiber. The phase noise structure is analyzed for an interferometric fiber sensing system, and an unbalanced Michelson interferometer with an optical path difference of 1 m, as well as the phase-generated carrier technique, is used to measure the phase noise. It is found that the phase noise is small when the input power is below the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold, increases dramatically at first and then gradually becomes flat when the input power is above the threshold, which is similar to the variation in relative intensity noise. It can be inferred that the increase in phase noise is mainly due to the broadening of the laser linewidth caused by stimulated Brillouin scattering, which is verified through linewidth measurements in the absence and presence of the stimulated Brillouin scattering. 相似文献

We report the dependence of Brillouin linewidths on the pump power below the threshold of Brillouin lasing in a silica fiber. The Stokes Brillouin shift in a silica fiber is nearly unchanged, and its linewidth decreases with increasing pump power. However, the anti-Stokes Brillouin shift becomes smaller and its linewidth larger with increasing pump power. We explain these experimental results by the distributed fluctuating source model. 相似文献

A high-efficiency Brillouin fiber ring laser is demonstrated using the standard single-mode fiber. The laser exhibits a 3.6-mW threshold. The output power is 22 mW with 40-mW pump power, and the maximum optical-to-optical efficiency is 5570. The output is single wavelength with a 3-dB linewidth of 5 MHz, and the interval of center frequency between the laser and the pump light is 11 GHz (0.088 nm). It is shown that the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold of ring resonator is lower and the energy transfer efficiency is higher than those in fiber. 相似文献

A 50 nm tuning range multiwavelength Brillouin-erbium fiber laser (MWBEFL) with double Brillouin frequency spacing is presented. Two separated gain blocks with symmetrical architecture, consisted by erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) and Brillouin gain media, are used to generate double Brillouin frequency spacing. The wider tuning range is realized by eliminating the self-lasing cavity modes existing in conventional MWBEFLs because of the absence of the physical mirrors at the ends of the linear cavity. The Brillouin pump (BP) is preamplified by the EDFA before entering the single-mode fiber (SMF), which leads to the reduction of threshold power and the generation enhancement of Brillouin Stokes (BS) signals. Four channels with 0.176 nm spacing are achieved at 2 mW BP power and 280 mW 980 nm pump power which can be tuned from 1525 to 1575 nm. 相似文献

A configuration for linear cavity Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) generation is demonstrated using a standard single-mode fiber, two optical circulators, a 3 dB coupler, and a 95/5 coupler to allow high efficiency. With a Brillouin pump (BP) power of 13 dBm, the laser peak power is 12.3 dB higher than a conventional linear cavity BFL at an upshifted wavelength of 0.086 nm from the BP wavelength. In addition, it is revealed that the BFL peak power can be higher than the transmitted BP peak power when the BP power exceeds the second Brillouin Stokes threshold power. 相似文献

Brillouin amplification and lasing are demonstrated in a single-mode As2Se3 chalcogenide fiber. A Brillouin gain of 42 dB was measured in a 4.9 m long fiber for a pump power of 68 mW at a 1.56 mum wavelength. In addition, a compact As2Se3 fiber-based Brillouin laser with a threshold power of 35 mW and a slope efficiency of 38% for nonresonant pumping is demonstrated. 相似文献

We introduce a new figure of merit (FOM) including the input pump power limit associated with stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) for evaluation of the Kerr nonlinearity efficiency of optical fibers. The new FOM is expressed as gammaL(eff)P(SBS) (gamma is a nonlinearity parameter, L(eff) is effective length, and P(SBS) is the SBS threshold), while the conventional FOM is given by gammaL(eff). Using the new FOM, we perform an efficiency comparison among four types of state-of-the-art nonlinear optical fiber: a Bi2O3-based nonlinear fiber, a silica-based holey fiber, a highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber, and a conventional dispersion-shifted fiber. The Bi2O3-based nonlinear fiber is found to have the best Kerr nonlinearity efficiency owing to the superior nonlinear property of the Bi2O3 glass compared with that of the silica. 相似文献
