This paper presents a study on the postbuckling responses of shear deformable laminated plates resting on a tensionless foundation of the Pasternak-type and subjected to combined axial and thermal loads. Two different postbuckling cases are considered, namely (1) the compressive postbuckling of initially heated plates and (2) the thermal postbuckling of initially compressed plates. The postbuckling analysis of laminated plates is based on the higher order shear deformation plate theory with a von Kármán-type of kinematic non-linearity. It is assumed that the foundation reacts in compression only. The thermal effects are also included and the material properties are assumed to be temperature dependent. The initial geometric imperfection of the plates is taken into account. The analysis uses a two-step perturbation technique to determine the postbuckling response of the plates. An iterative scheme is developed to obtain numerical results without using any assumption on the shape of the contact region. Numerical solutions are presented in tabular and graphical forms to study the postbuckling behavior of antisymmetric angle-ply and symmetric cross-ply laminated plates resting on tensionless elastic foundations of the Pasternak-type, from which results for conventional elastic foundations are obtained as comparators. The results reveal that the unilateral constraint has a significant effect on the postbuckling response of the plates subjected to combined axial and thermal loads when the foundation stiffness is sufficiently large. The results also confirm that the postbuckling responses are significantly influenced by temperature dependency and initial membrane stress as well as initial thermal stress.  相似文献

A thermal postbuckling analysis is presented for a moderately thick rectangular plate subjected to (1) uniform and non-uniform tent-like temperature loading; and (2) combined axial compression and uniform temperature loading. The initial geometrical imperfection of plate is taken into account. The formulations are based on the Reissner-Mindlin plate theory considering the effects of rotary inertia and transverse shear deformation. The analysis uses a deflection-type perturbation technique to determine the thermal buckling loads and postbuckling equilibrium paths. Numerical examples are presented that relate to the performances of perfect and imperfect, moderately thick rectangular plates and are compared with the results predicted by the thin plate theory.  相似文献

A new refined first-order shear-deformation plate theory of the Kármán type is presented for engineering applications and a new version of the generalized Kármán large deflection equations with deflection and stress functions as two unknown variables is formulated for nonlinear analysis of shear-deformable plates of composite material and construction, based on the Mindlin/Reissner theory. In this refined plate theory two rotations that are constrained out in the formulation are imposed upon overall displacements of the plates in an implicit role. Linear and nonlinear investigations may be made by the engineering theory to a class of shear-deformation plates such as moderately thick composite plates, orthotropic sandwich plates, densely stiffened plates, and laminated shear-deformable plates. Reduced forms of the generalized Kármán equations are derived consequently, which are found identical to those existe in the literature. A theoretical framework for analyzing the pre- and postbuckling response of composite laminates and plates with piezoactuators and sensors is presented. The mechanics include nonlinear effects due to large rotations and stress stiffening, and are incorporated into a coupled mixed-field piezoelectric laminate theory. Using the previous mechanics, a nonlinear finite element method and an incremental-iterative solution are formulated for the analysis of nonlinear adaptive plate structures subject to in-plane electromechanical loading. A novel eight-node nonlinear plate finite element is also developed. Evaluation cases predict the buckling and postbuckling response of adaptive composite beams and plates with piezoelectric actuators and sensors. The case of piezoelectric buckling and postbuckling induced by the actuators is addressed and quantified. Finally, the possibility to actively mitigate the mechanical buckling and postbuckling response of adaptive piezocomposite plates is illustrated.  相似文献

In this Part, the extensive parametric studies performed are reported and numerical results are presented for the non-linear vibration, non-linear bending and compressive postbuckling of uniformly distributed and functionally graded fiber reinforced unsymmetric cross-ply and/or antisymmetric angle-ply laminated plates resting on Pasternak elastic foundations under different hygrothermal environmental conditions. The numerical results show that the functionally graded fiber reinforcement has a significant effect on the postbuckling response and load-bending moment curves of plate bending, whereas this effect is less pronounced on the load-deflection curves of plate bending and the linear and non-linear frequencies of the same plate.  相似文献

A postbuckling analysis is presented for a simply supported, shear deformable functionally graded plate with piezoelectric actuators subjected to the combined action of mechanical, electrical and thermal loads. The temperature field considered is assumed to be of uniform distribution over the plate surface and through the plate thickness and the electric field considered only has non-zero-valued component EZ. The material properties of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents, and the material properties of both FGM and piezoelectric layers are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The governing equations are based on a higher order shear deformation plate theory that includes thermo-piezoelectric effects. The initial geometric imperfection of the plate is taken into account. Two cases of the in-plane boundary conditions are considered. A two step perturbation technique is employed to determine buckling loads and postbuckling equilibrium paths. The numerical illustrations concern the postbuckling behavior of perfect and imperfect, geometrically mid-plane symmetric FGM plates with fully covered or embedded piezoelectric actuators under different sets of thermal and electric loading conditions. The effects played by temperature rise, volume fraction distribution, applied voltage, the character of in-plane boundary conditions, as well as initial geometric imperfections are studied.  相似文献

The validity and the range of applicability of the classical plate theory (CPT) and the first-order shear deformation plate theory, also called Mindlin plate theory (MPT), in comparison with three-dimensional (3-D) p-Ritz solution are presented for freely vibrating circular plates on the elastic foundation with different boundary conditions. In order to achieve this purpose, a study of the 3-D elasticity solution is carried out to determine the free vibration frequencies of clamped, simply supported and free circular plates resting on an elastic foundation. The Pasternak model with adding a shear layer to the Winkler model is used for describing the elastic foundation. In addition to being employed the p-Ritz algorithm, the analysis is based on the linear, small strain and 3-D elasticity theory. In this analysis method, a set of orthogonal polynomial series in a cylindrical polar coordinate system is used to arrive eigenvalue equation yielding the natural frequencies for the circular plates. The accuracy of these results is verified by appropriate convergence studies and checked with the available literature and the MPT. Furthermore, the effect of the foundation stiffness parameters, thickness-radius ratio, and different boundary conditions on the ill-conditioning of the mass matrix as well as on the vibration behavior of the circular plates is investigated. Afterwards, the validity and the range of applicability of the results obtained on the basis of the CPT and MPT for a thin and moderately thick circular plate with different values of the foundation stiffness parameters are graphically presented through comparing them with those obtained by the present 3-D p-Ritz solution. Finally, the phenomenon of mode shape switching is investigated in graphical forms for a wide range of the Winkler foundation stiffness parameters.  相似文献

This paper deals with the large amplitude vibration, non-linear bending and postbuckling of fiber reinforced composite laminated plates resting on an elastic foundation in hygrothermal environments. Two kinds of fiber reinforced laminated plates, namely, uniformly distributed and functionally graded reinforcements, are considered. The material properties of fiber reinforced laminated plates are estimated through a micromechanical model and are assumed to be temperature-dependent and moisture-dependent. The motion equations are based on a higher order shear deformation plate theory that includes plate-foundation interaction and the hygrothermal effect. A two-step perturbation technique is employed to determine the non-linear to linear frequency ratios of plate vibration, the load-deflection and load-bending moment curves of plate bending, and postbuckling equilibrium paths of laminated plates.  相似文献

The effect of local geometric imperfections on the buckling and postbuckling of composite laminated cylindrical shells subjected to combined axial compression and uniform temperature loading was investigated. The two cases of compressive postbuckling of initially heated shells and of thermal postbuckling of initially compressed shells are considered. The formulations are based on a boundary layer theory of shell buckling, which includes the effects of the nonlinear prebuckling deformation, the nonlinear large deflection in the postbuckling range and the initial geometric imperfection of the shell. The analysis uses a singular perturbation technique to determine buckling loads and postbuckling equilibrium paths. Numerical examples are presented that relate to the performances of cross-ply laminated cylindrical shells with or without initial local imperfections, from which results for isotropic cylindrical shells follow as a limiting case. Typical results are presented in dimensionless graphical form for different parameters and loading conditions.  相似文献

Free vibration analysis of moderately thick rectangular FG plates on elastic foundation with various combinations of simply supported and clamped boundary conditions are studied. Winkler model is considered to describe the reaction of elastic foundation on the plate. Governing equations of motion are obtained based on the Mindlin plate theory. A semi-analytical solution is presented for the governing equations using the extended Kantorovich method together with infinite power series solution. Results are compared and validated with available results in the literature. Effects of elastic foundation, boundary conditions, material, and geometrical parameters on natural frequencies of the FG plates are investigated.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The flexure under uniform load of clamped rectangular plates resting on elastic foundations is treated via eigenfunction expansions. The expansion coefficients are determined by expanding each of the nonorthogonal eigen-functions in terms of an orthogonal set of real functions. The numerical convergence of the associated eigenfunction expansions for some aspect ratios of the plate and some values of the foundation modulus are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, applying perturbation method to von Kármán-type nonlinear large deflection equations of orthotropic plates by taking deflection as perturbation parameter, thé postbuckling behavior of simply supported rectangular orthotropic plates under inplane compression is investigated. Two types of in-plane boundary conditions are now considered and the effects of initial imperfections are also studied. Numerical results are presented for various cases of orthotropic composite plates having different elastic properties. It is found that the results obtained are in good agreement with those of experiments.  相似文献

This paper presents a study on the postbuckling response of a functionally graded cylindrical shell of finite length embedded in a large outer elastic medium and subjected to internal pressure in thermal environments. The surrounding elastic medium is modeled as a tensionless Pasternak foundation that reacts in compression only. The postbuckling analysis is based on a higher order shear deformation shell theory with von Kármán–Donnell-type of kinematic nonlinearity. The thermal effects due to heat conduction are also included and the material properties of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The nonlinear prebuckling deformations and the initial geometric imperfections of the shell are both taken into account. A singular perturbation technique is employed to determine the postbuckling response of the shells and an iterative scheme is developed to obtain numerical results without using any assumption on the shape of the contact region between the shell and the elastic medium. Numerical solutions are presented in tabular and graphical forms to study the postbuckling behavior of FGM shells surrounded by an elastic medium of tensionless elastic foundation of the Pasternak-type, from which results for conventional elastic foundations are obtained as comparators. The results reveal that the unilateral constraint has a significant effect on the postbuckling response of shells subjected to internal pressure in thermal environments when the foundation stiffness is sufficiently large.  相似文献
