A study on the applicability of Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence for the determination of multielements in trace amounts in U3O8 matrix has been made. The calibration of the Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence spectrometer and the validation of the method were done using multielement standards. The trace elements present in U3O8 standards and samples were determined after separating the U matrix by solvent extraction using tri-n-butyl phosphate and trioctyl phosphine oxide as extractants. From the aqueous phase the elements K, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Br, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Pb and Ba, etc., were determined by Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence using Ga as an internal standard. An intercomparison of the Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence determined concentrations of the trace elements specific to nuclear fuel, e.g. Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn in U3O8 standards/samples with certified concentrations for these elements in U3O8 standards and Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy determined concentrations in real U3O8 samples was also made. The method shows a precision and accuracy better than 5% (1σ) for most elements in concentration range of ng/mL with a sample size of 10 μL.  相似文献

The contents of Cl, Ca, K, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Ba and Pb in raw coal fly ash from five Bulgarian power plants were determined by total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF), using gallium as the internal standard. The samples were analysed as in slurry form in Triton? X-114. The experimental parameters, such as grain size, concentrations of fly ash slurry and excitation time were optimised. For validation of the method, the certified reference material BCR-176R fly ash was used. The precision of the results obtained is characterised by a relative standard deviation of approximately 10%. The resulting data confirm the suitability of TXRF for the simultaneous determination of major, minor and trace elements in coal fly ash samples. Further advantages provided by TXRF are easy sample preparation (no sample dissolution) and the small sample amount required for analysis.  相似文献

Neutron activation analysis methods for the determination of impurities in zirconium cladding material and uranium oxide are described. Detection limits for the elements Al, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Hf, Fe, Mn, Ni, W and U in zirconium are below that required by the ASTM B 352-79 standard. The method has been tested on the NIST SRM 360a Zircaloy-2 from which the elements Na, Mg, Al, Ca, V, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Eu and U have been detected. The values for Cr, Fe, Ni and Cu are compared with the certified values. A method for the pre-irradiation separation of the elements Mg, Na, Al, K, Sc, Ca, V, Mn, Cr, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, Rb, Zr, Cd, Cs, REE and Hf from uranium has been developed. A neutron activation analysis method for the determination of those elements in uranium is described. The method is tested by the analysis of the IAEA reference sample SR-54/64. The elements Al, Mn, V, Cu, Cr, Co, Ni and Fe have been detected and the results compared with the certified values.  相似文献

A direct analysis procedure for the determination of trace impurities of Ca, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn and Ga in Al2O3 ceramic powders by total reflection X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (TXRF) is described. The powders were analysed in the form of slurries containing 1–10 mg mL–1 of powder. The use of the procedure in the case of powders with differing grain size and for different slurry concentrations was investigated. Three different quantification possibilities were compared, namely the use of Al as a matrix component, the use of Fe as a trace element contained in the sample or of Co added in concentrations of 200 g g–1 as internal standard. The homogeneity of elemental distributions in sample layers deposited on the TXRF quartz carriers by evaporating 5 L of the 10 mg mL–1 slurries was studied by scanning the 4- to 5-mm-diameter spots of two samples by synchrotron radiation TXRF at Hasylab. For powders with differing graininess but mainly finer than about a few 10 m, no systematic influence of the grain size on the accuracy of the determinations of Ca, V, Fe, Ni, Cu and Zn could be observed. The measurement precision, however, seemed to be limited by inhomogeneous distributions of the trace elements in the samples as testified by the synchrotron radiation TXRF scans. Detection limits of the developed TXRF procedure for Ca, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn and Ga were found to be in the 0.3–7 g g–1 range and were shown to increase slightly with the grain size of the samples. Quantification using Al (matrix) as internal standard led to systematically higher values out of the accuracy required, whereas the other two approaches in all cases led to reliable results.Dedicated to the memory of Wilhelm Fresenius  相似文献

A chelate resin immobilizing carboxymethylated pentaethylenehexamine (CM-PEHA resin) was prepared, and the potential for the separation and preconcentration of trace elements in water samples was evaluated through the adsorption/elution test for 62 elements. The CM-PEHA resin could quantitatively recover various elements, including Ag, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Ti, U, and Zn, and rare earth elements over a wide pH range, and also Mn at pH above 5 and V and Mo at pH below 7. This resin could also effectively remove major elements, such as alkali and alkaline earth elements, under acidic and neutral conditions. Solid phase extraction using the CM-PEHA resin was applicable to the determination of 10 trace elements, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, V, and Zn, in certified reference materials (EnviroMAT EU-L-1 wastewater and ES-L-1 ground water) and treated wastewater and all elements except for Mn in surface seawater using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The detection limits, defined as 3 times the standard deviation for the procedural blank using 500 mL of purified water (50-fold preconcentration, n = 8), ranged from 0.003 μg L−1 (Mn) to 0.28 μg L−1 (Zn) as the concentration in 500 mL of solution.  相似文献

The microwave-assisted acid-digestion for the determination of metals in coal by ICP-AES was investigated, especially focusing on the necessity of adding HF. By testing five certified reference materials, BCR-180, BCR-040, NIST-1632b, NIST-1632c, and SARM-20, it was found that the two-stage digestion without HF (HNO3 + H2O2 was used) was very effective for the pretreatment of ICP-AES measurement. Both major metals (Al, Ca, Fe, and Mg) and minor or trace metals (Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in coal gave good recoveries for their certified or reference values. The possibility of ‘HF-memory effect’ was cancelled by the use of a set of vessels which had been never contacted with HF. Twenty-four Japanese standard coals (SS coals) were analyzed by the present method, and the concentrations of major metals measured by the present method provided very high accordance with those from the authentic JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) method.  相似文献

The multielement determination of trace metals in seawater was carried out by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) with aid of a down-sized chelating resin-packed minicolumn for preconcentration. The down-sized chelating resin-packed minicolumn was constructed with two syringe filters (DISMIC 13HP and Millex-LH) and an iminodiacetate chelating resin (Chelex 100, 200-400 mesh), with which trace metals in 50 mL of original seawater sample were concentrated into 0.50 mL of 2 M nitric acid, and then 100-fold preconcentration of trace metals was achieved. Then, 0.50 mL analysis solution was subjected to the multielement determination by ICP-MS equipped with a MicroMist nebulizer for micro-sampling introduction. The preconcentration and elution parameters such as the sample-loading flow rate, the amount of 1 M ammonium acetate for elimination of matrix elements, and the amount of 2 M nitric acid for eluting trace metals were optimized to obtain good recoveries and analytical detection limits for trace metals. The analytical results for V, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mo, Cd, Pb, and U in three kinds of seawater certified reference materials (CRMs; CASS-3, NASS-4, and NASS-5) agreed well with their certified values. The observed values of rare earth elements (REEs) in the above seawater CRMs were also consistent with the reference values. Therefore, the compiled reference values for the concentrations of REEs in CASS-3, NASS-4, and NASS-5 were proposed based on the observed values and reference data for REEs in these CRMs.  相似文献

A novel adsorbent of thiacalix[4]arene tetracarboxylate derivative modified mesoporous TiO2 was prepared and was used as a packing material for flow injection (FI) micro-column (20 mm × 4.0 mm i.d.) separation/preconcentration on-line coupled to inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) simultaneous determination of trace metals (V, Cu, Pb, Cr) in environmental water samples. The experimental conditions for modified mesoporous TiO2 packed micro-column separation/preconcentration of the target metals were optimized and the interference of commonly coexisting ions was examined. The adsorption capacities of thiacalix[4]arene tetracarboxylate derivative modified mesoporous TiO2 for V, Cu, Pb and Cr were found to be 14.0, 11.7, 17.7 and 14.5 mg g− 1, respectively. The detection limits of the method were 0.09, 0.23, 0.50 and 0.15 µg L− 1 for V, Cu, Pb and Cr, respectively, with a preconcentration factor of 20. The precision of this method were 1.7% (V), 3.9% (Cu), 4.6% (Pb) and 2.9% (Cr) (n = 7, C = 5 µg L− 1), respectively. The developed method was applied to the determination of trace heavy metals in real samples and the recoveries for spiked samples were found to be in the range of 88.7-107.1%. For validation, a certified reference material of GSBZ50009-88 environmental water sample was analyzed and the determined values were in good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

Therapeutically important inorganic elements in Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated genetically transformed hairy root cultures (HRCs) of a pharmaceutically significant herb Boerhaavia diffusa were quantified using proton induced X-ray emission technique. This was compared with that of roots from the naturally grown donor plant. Two macro-elements (Ca & K) and eight different trace elements namely V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu Zn, and Ni were detected and their content was determined. In HRCs of a transformed rhizoclone, calcium and potassium had values which were significantly higher than that of in vivo roots. The concentrations of several trace elements, which are known to have a positive implication in human healthcare, were found to be either comparable (Fe) to that in the natural root samples or higher (Mn, Zn, Cr, Cu, Co) in the transformed rhizoclone. The genetically transformed HRCs can thus serve as a fast-proliferating renewable resource of medicinally useful minerals targeting specific diseases.  相似文献

Semiquantitative analysis with accuracy of ±30 to 50% is a valuable tool for rapid screening of samples prior to quantitative determination of trace metals. In this study semiquantitative analysis software available with commercial inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) instrumentation is applied for rapid multielemental analysis, and the accuracy and precision of this semiquantitative analysis approach is evaluated with biological certified reference materials. Samples were prepared by high-pressure, high-temperature nitric acid vapor-phase digestion. For most elements the measured semiquantitative results are in the range of the certified values. With appropriate analyte solution dilution, the measured concentrations of the major elements (e.g., Ca) also agree with certified values. The accuracy is within ±10% for 28 element determinations that include 16 individual elements (Ag, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Rb, Sb, Sr, Tl, and Zn) and ±20% for 54 element determinations that include three more elements (Mg, V, and U) in eight certified reference materials including water. The method precision is 11 ± 11% (relative standard deviation,n= 65).  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate minor and trace elements in the water during different water purification steps of a deionized water production plant, located at CENA, by total-reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) technique, using Ga as internal standard for elemental quantification. This approach was capable of determining Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ge, As, Se, Br, Rb at concentrations higher than 40–100 μg L−1, and for K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V and Sr at concentrations higher than sub mg L−1 in the water samples. TXRF spectrometer encompasses an X-ray tube with a Mo target with a Zr filter. The elemental characteristic X-rays were recorded by a Si(Li) semiconductor detector and the X-ray spectra deconvoluted by AXIL software.  相似文献

Mesoporous titanium dioxide as a novel solid-phase extraction material for flow injection micro-column preconcentration on-line coupled with ICP-OES determination of trace metals (Co, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, V, Ce, Dy, Eu, La and Yb) in environmental samples was described. Possessing a high adsorption capacity towards the metal ions, mesoporous titanium dioxide has found to be of great potential as an adsorbent for the preconcentration of trace metal ions in samples with complicated matrix. The experimental parameters including pH, sample flow rate, volume, elution and interfering ions on the recovery of the target analytes were investigated, and the optimal experimental conditions were established. Under the optimized operating conditions, a preconcentration time of 90 s and elution time of 18 s with enrichment factor of 10 and sampling frequency of 20 h−1 were obtained. The detection limits of this method for the target elements were between 0.03 and 0.36 μg L−1, and the relative standard deviations (R.S.D.s) were found to be less than 6.0% (n =7, c =5 ng mL−1). The proposed method was validated using a certified reference material, and has been successfully applied for the determination of the afore mentioned trace metals in natural water samples and coal fly ash with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Based on gaseous compound introduction as pyrrolidinecarbodithioate chelates of Cr, Co, Mn and Ni by electrothermal vaporization (ETV) in inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), a novel method for the determination of trace Cr, Co, Mn and Ni was developed. It was found that in the presence of ammonium pyrrolidinecarbodithioate (APDC) the trace amounts of analytes were vaporized at a low temperature of 1500 °C. The main factors affecting the formation and vaporization of analytes chelates were investigated in detail. Thermal gravimetric analysis of Cr-APDC, Co-APDC, Mn-APDC and Ni-APDC chelates and UV-vis analysis of the sample vapor collected in CHCl3 after vaporization of their chelates indicated that the analytes were vaporized and transported into ICP as their chelates. Under the optimized conditions, the limits of detection (LOD) (3σ) and the relative standard deviations (R.S.D.) of Cr, Co, Mn and Ni were 0.36, 0.19, 0.073 and 0.32 ng, and 3.9, 4.9, 3.8 and 3.3% (c = 0.5 μg ml−1, n = 7), respectively. By combination with a solvent extraction step, the proposed method had been successfully applied to analysis of Cr, Co, Mn and Ni in the artificial seawater. To evaluate the accuracy of the developed method, two certified reference materials (human hair GBW 09101 and poplar leaves GBW 07604) were also analyzed, and the determined values obtained were in good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

Summary X-Ray fluorescence analysis with total-reflected exciting beam (TRXF) represents a comparatively new development among the multielement methods. The main application of this method is the analysis of liquid samples. Furthermore, the measurements of suspensions and dust samples are practicable. With regard to sample preparation, execution and results information in various applications is at present available. This report gives a survey of advantages and restrictions of TXRF in soil science. After the digestion of various reference materials in two different ways, measurements were performed by TXRF. The elements Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr, Ba and Pb were taken into consideration.

Hafnium silicate is a so-called high-k material, which is a new key material in the semiconductor field. This material is difficult to analyze by a conventional W-Lβ1TXRF source due to the high background originating from Hf-Lα lines. In this paper, the capability of Ir source TXRF analysis on hafnium silicate films is investigated with intentional contamination of Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni and Cu elements. The spectral fitting is discussed where X-ray resonant Raman scattering and escape peak of Ir-Lα overlap with Ni-Kα peak. The detection limits are estimated to 0.9 × 1010 to 2 × 1010 atoms/cm2 for the transition metals.  相似文献

The epithermal neutron shape factor, α of the inner and outer irradiation sites of the Ghana Research Reactor-1 (GHARR-1) was determined obtaining results of 0.105 for the inner (Channel 1) Irradiation site and 0.020 for the outer (channel 6) irradiation site. The neutron temperatures for the inner and outer irradiation sites were 27 °C and 20 °C, respectively. The α values used in Westcott Formalism k0 INAA was applied to determine multi elements in 13 Ghanaian herbal medicines used by the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine (CSRPM) for the management of various diseases complemented by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. They are namely Mist. Antiaris, Mist. Enterica, Mist. Morazia, Mist. Nibima, Mist. Modium, Mist. Ninger, Mist Sodenia, Mist. Tonica, Chardicca Powder, Fefe Powder, Olax Powder, Sirrapac powder and Lippia Tea. Concentrations of Al, As, Br, K, Cl, Cu, Mg, Mn, Na and V were determined by short and medium irradiations at a thermal neutron flux of 5×1011 ncm−2 s−1. Fe, Cr, Pb, Co, Ni, Sn, Ca, Ba, Li and Sb were determined using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS). Ba, Cu, Li and V were present at trace levels whereas Al, Cl, Na, Ca were present at major levels. K, Br, Mg, Mn, Co, Ni, Fe and Sb were also present at minor levels. Arsenic was not detected in all samples. Standard Reference material, IAEA-V-10 Hay Powder was simultaneously analysed with samples. The precision and accuracy of the method using real samples and standard reference materials were evaluated and within ±10% of the reported value. Multivariate analytical techniques, such as cluster analysis (Q-mode and R-mode CA) and principal component analysis (PCA)/factor analysis (FA), have been applied to evaluate the chemical variations in the herbal medicine dataset. All the 13 samples may be grouped into 2 statistically significant clusters (liquid based and powdered herbal medicines), reflecting the different chemical compositions. R-mode CA and PCA suggest common sources for Co, Mg, Fe, Ca, Cr, Ni, Sn, Li and Sb and Na, V, Cl, Mn, Al, Br and K. The PCA/FA identified 3 dominant factors as responsible for the data structure, explaining 84.5% of the total variance in the dataset.  相似文献

Thiacalix[4]arenetetrasulfonate (TCAS) has been examined as a pre-column chelating reagent for the determination of trace metal ions by kinetic differentiation mode (KD) ion-pair reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with spectrophotometric detection. Among 14 kinds of common metal ions tested here, viz. Al(III), Ca(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Cr(III), Cu(II), Fe(III), Hg(II), Mg(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), V(V), and Zn(II) ion, only Ni(II) ion was detected as the TCAS chelate in the HPLC separation stage in spite of TCAS forming the chelates with various metal ions except for Al(III), Ca(II), and Mg(II) at the pre-column chelation stage. The undetected metal-TCAS chelates seemed to be dissociated on an HPLC column where no added TCAS was present in the mobile phase because of their kinetic unstability. The calibration graph for Ni(II) ion gave a wide linear dynamic range (40-20,000 nM) with the very low detection limit (DL) (3σ base-line fluctuation) to be 5.4 nM (0.32 ng ml−1). The practical applicability of the KD-HPLC method with TCAS was demonstrated with the determination of trace Ni in coal fly ash.  相似文献

This research work aimed at studying the metal content of water and tilapia fish sample, Oreochromis spp., from a wastewater-fed pond around the University of Cape Coast community using instrumental neutron activation analysis. The metals studied were Al, As, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, V and Zn. In the water samples the order of elemental concentrations at sampling point 1, in ??g/g, was K (75.96?±?0.92), Na (18.52?±?0.35), Al (6.00?±?0.89), Mn (3.28?±?0.44), As (3.08?±?0.40), Mg (1.56?±?0.17), Ca (0.70?±?0.08), Cu (0.54?±?0.08) and V (0.04?±?0.01). Co, Cr, Fe and Zn were below detection limits of INAA. The order of elemental concentrations in the water at point 2 was as follows: Na (4.99?±?0.14), K (4.82?±?0.89), Mn (4.40?±?0.53), Mg (2.92?±?0.37), Al (1.98?±?0.21), As (0.69?±?0.10), Ca (0.24?±?0.07) and V (0.23?±?0.06) with Co, Cr, Cu, Fe and Zn falling below the detection limit of INAA. The concentrations recorded for Al, As, Cu and Mn in the water samples were all above WHO permissible limits. The mean levels of heavy metals in the soft tissue of tilapia was of the order: K?>?Mg?>?Fe?>?Ca?>?Na?>?Al?>?Mn?>?Zn?>?V?>?Cu?>?Cr?>?Co. Arsenic was below detection limit. The transfer factor values calculated for the metals Al, Ca, K, Mg, Mn, Na and V were all greater than one indicating movement of metals from the water column to the tilapia species. The hazard index (HI) calculated for Al, Fe, Mn and V suggested possible occurrence of adverse health effects (HI?>?1) where as the HI value obtained for Cr, Cu and Zn (i.e., HI?<?1) suggested unlikely adverse effects occurring.  相似文献

By the use of non-destructive neutron activation analysis (NAA) twenty-four trace (Ag, As, Br, Cd, Ce, Cr, Co, Cu, Eu, Fe, Hf, I, La, Mn, Ni, Rb, Sb, Sc, Se, Sm, Sr, U, V and Zn) and six minor (Ca, Cl, Mg, K, Na and S) elements were determined in a certified marine tissue standard reference material. Four non-destructive methods including thermal, epi-thermal, prompt-gamma ray and delayed neutron counting activation analyses were performed. Results when compared to the certified values showed the reliability of employing these methods in such standards program.  相似文献
