In an optically pumped far-infrared laser (OPFIRL) system, the infrared (IR) pumping laser with collision broadening which was closer to the practice was considered. A more precise mathematical model was set up. When the IR pumping laser line had the Lorentz function structure, by solving the semi-classic density matrix equations, the generalized form of FIR signal gain Gs and IR pumping signal absorption coefficient Gp were obtained.  相似文献

The two or multi-mode optically pumped NH3 FIR laser had been studied theoretically. The NH3 molecular gas was assumed to be a three-level system and obeyed the time-dependent behavior of the density matrix equations. Considering the situation of playing the two or multi-mode optical pumping and the FIR laser field were same polarized. The gain coefficient and the output FIR power of the system could be calculated by using the iteration method.It had been predicted that the two or multiple longitudinal mode optically pumped NH3 FIR laser could have a greater output power or higher lasing efficiency than single mode pumped FIR laser under suitable selected operating parameters of laser.Supported by The Education Foundation of PRC.  相似文献

By means of iteration method and also taking into account Doppler broadening and pressure braodening effect of IR pumping laser, the output power density of optically pumped NH3 molecules FIR laser is calculated by solving density matrix equations of three-level system. The results of theoretical calculation shows that, in comparison with the FIR laser under the assumption of ideal monochromatic IR pumping, the output power density of FIR laser in the case of Doppler broadening and pressure broadening IR pumping decreases much more. Meanwhile, via the revision of Doppler broadening and pressure broadening effect, the theoretical value of optimum operating gas pressure reduces, which is in better agreement with the experimental value. Further study shows that the revision of Doppler broadening effect is more fit for the conventional FIR laser with a 2m sample tuble and the revision of pressure broadening effect is much more suitable for the miniature FIR laser with a short sample tube of 5 to 20cm in length.Supported by the National Natural Sciences Foundation of P.R.China and the NSF of Guangdong Province.  相似文献

By means of solving the density matrix equations, base on the mechanism model of buffer gas, the output intensity of FIR and the FIR signal gain coefficient Gs and IR pumping signal absorption coefficient Gp were calculated, energy exchanged process of superradiant OPFIRL with buffer gas was analyzed. It was found that after adding buffer gas into the laser medium, the FIR output could be increased, and the active region of a FIR laser was lengthened.  相似文献

Based on the semi-classical density matrix equation theory, the gain and tuning characteristics of infrared-microwave pumped NH3 FIR laser were studied. It was shown that quasi-continuously tuning could be obtained by the tuning of microwave frequency and the efficiency of the laser could be enhanced by electric dipole transition enhancement effect, but compromise should be made between FIR laser output and frequency tuning range.  相似文献

By means of an iteration method and taking into account the broadening of the infrared pumping laser, the spectrum of a miniature, optically pumped, superradiant NH3 submillimeter-wave(SMMW) gas laser pumped by CO2-10R(8) has been calculated and studied by solving density matrix equations. Experimentally, the interferogram of miniature SMMW laser pumped by a TEA-CO2 laser with 10R(8) line is measured. 从半经典密度矩阵理论出发,采用三能级系统模型对光泵重水气体产生太赫兹激光进行了理论分析,求解得到了脉冲光泵重水气体分子产生太赫兹激光过程中激光信号增益系数Gs和抽运光信号被吸收系数Gp的表达式,通过迭代法对太赫兹激光信号的输出光强进行了数值计算,理论计算得到的频谱特性曲线完全符合受激Raman辐射的频谱特性,即频谱宽度较大、输出光强随抽运失谐量的改变而变化明显等特征.在脉冲激光抽运受激Raman辐射过程中,工作介质D2O气体分子的偶极矩由于受到抽运脉冲光场的扰动发生变化,在频谱特性曲线中表现为受激辐射THz信号的谱线发生了分裂.理论计算结果与已报道的实验结果能较好地相符.  相似文献

A mathematical model describing the dynamic emission of the ruby laser as a pumping source of a distributed feedback dye laser (DFDL) has been adapted. The suggested model allows the temporal behavior investigation of the ruby laser and the DFDL on mode characteristics and, moreover, investigating the affect of laser input parameters on the output laser pulses in the ruby laser and in the DFDL.The numerical solutions of a coupled nonlinear rate equations system of the adapted model that predict the generation of picoseconds pulses, with neglecting the effect of refractive index variation, are discussed (feedback process is achieved only by optical gain). The model estimates the density of the emitted radiation, energy density of the first excited state, and the output power of the DFDL. The adapted mathematical model is in good agreement with the available experimental data.  相似文献

Based on the quantum mechanics theory of density matrix and the principle of multiple-beam interference, the tuning characteristics of optically pumped NH3 FIR lasers were studied. A series of metallic mesh Fabry-Perot cavity lasers with sample tubes of 10cm, 20cm and 100cm in length were constructed and operated successfully, and the FIR laser spectra of the NH3 cavity lasers pumped by a TEA-CO2 laser were measured. We report fifty seven CW FIR emissions observed in NH3, by resonant pumping with a CO2 laser. Exact coincidences between IR absorption lines of the gas and emission lines of the CO2 laser have been carried out by Stark tuning. IR frequency shifts, up to 30 GHz, have allowed the pumping of forty three NH3 transitions.These FIR emissions correspond to thirty one different wavelengths in the 50–400 m range; eighteen ones of them are new emitted wavelengths by pumping with the CO2 laser.  相似文献

A very short OPFIR superradiant laser was studied theoretically and experimentally. The density matrix equations of a three-level quantum system for NH3 gas was solved for the gains of the FIR signal and the IR signal in the very short OPFIRL system. The output characteristics of the OPFIR superradiant laser were calculated numercally. A curve showing the relation between the length of the sampe tube of the OFFIRL and the corresponding optimum pressure was obtained. In our experiment, a 10cm OPFIRL and a 5cm OPFIRL were constructed and operated successfully. The output characteristics were meassured and the calculated results were verified.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of DMAPrP have been investigated in different solvents. DMAPrP dye exhibits a large change in dipole-moment upon excitation due to an intramolecular charge transfer interaction. A crystalline solid of DMAPrP give an excimer like emission at 546 nm. The ground and excited state protonation constants of DMAPrP are calculated. DMAPrP acts as good laser dye upon pumping with nitrogen laser in some organic solvents. The laser parameters such as the tuning range, gain coefficient (α), emission cross section (σe) and half-life energy (E1/2) are also calculated. The photoreactivity and net photochemical quantum yield of DMAPrP in chloromethane solvents are also studied.  相似文献

Based on the semi-classical density matrix equations and numerical iteration calculation, the gain coefficient of nine-energy-level NH3 molecular system was figured out. Energy exchange process in two-longitudinal-mode optically pumped submillimeter wave laser was studied in detail. Laser output intensity was calculated and discussed in case of different operating parameters such as operating gas pressure, length of laser cavity. 分析了影响激光二极管抽运Yb:YAG激光器调Q效率的参量,推导了激光二极管端面脉冲抽运Yb:YAG晶体的速率方程,解出了双程抽运情况下的净抽运量子产率。利用数值计算方法,模拟了净抽运量子产率与晶体长度,抽运光脉冲宽度等关系,得出晶体长度的优化可以提高Yb:YAG激光器输出效率。计算了词Q Yb:YAG激光器的最大增益、最大储能,分析了放大自发辐射对于Yb:YAG能量存储的影响。同时给出了激光二极管端面抽运调Q Yb:YAG优化设计方法。这些分析和计算为实际器件的研制提供参考。  相似文献

By means of the iteration method, the output power density of the miniature optically pumped NH3 submillimeter wave (SMMW) laser was calculated based on the density matrix equations of a quantum system. Optimization of operating parameters including operating gas pressure, reflection coefficients of input and output meshes of the laser were studied systematically. In the paper, the concepts of the average activated length and the synthetical optimum value were defined, and some rules of the optimization were explained successfully. Experimentally, a cavity NH3 SMMW laser that was composed of a pair of inductive metallic meshes and pumped by TEA-CO2 10R(8) line was used. In this paper, the density matrix equation of three-level system for far-infrared (FIR) Raman transition in vibrational ground state was solved. By means of iteration method and numerical calculation, the spectral characteristics of NH3 molecules FIR laser with TEA CO2-10R(14) laser pumping was studied theoretically. The relations between the output power of optically pumped FIR laser and the pumping power were studied theoretically by solving the density matrix equation of four-level system by means of the matrix signal flow graph method. The output power density of FIR laser was calculated by iteration method. A set of curves of output FIR power density against pumping power has been obtained. It has found that every of each curve has a maximum point of which the position is different for different pumping detuning. According the these results we predicted that there would exist an optimum pumping power density for an optically pumped FIR laser with certain pumping detuning. This theoretical results would help us to design the optically pumped FIR lasers.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a theoretical model for the gain competition in dual-wavelength dye lasers. For this purpose the rate equations under the steady-state conditions have been used. The degree of the gain competition is shown to depend on the polarization of the two laser beams. The dependence of the gain competition on various working parameters such as pumping power, dye concentration and the reorientation rate of the molecules or solvent viscosity is studied for two different cases of parallel and orthogonal polarizations. The results of our model show dramatically different behaviors in the two proposed cases.  相似文献

A broadband external cavity tunable laser is realized by using a broad-emitting spectral InAs/GaAs quantum dot (QD) gain device. A tuning range of 69 nm with a central wavelength of 1056 nm, is achieved at a bias of 1.25 kA/cm2 only by utilizing the light emission from the ground state of QDs. This large tunable range only covers the QD ground-state emission and is related to the inhomogeneous size distribution of QDs. No excited state contributes to the tuning bandwidth. The application of the QD gain device to the external cavity tunable laser shows its immense potential in broadening the tuning bandwidth. By the external cavity feedback, the threshold current density can be reduced remarkably compared with the free-running QD gain device.  相似文献
