This paper which is a continuation of [2], is essentially expository in nature, although some new results are presented. LetK be a local field with finite residue class fieldK k. We first define (cf. Definition 2.4) the conductorf(E/K) of an arbitrary finite Galois extensionE/K in the sense of non-abelian local class field theory as wheren G is the break in the upper ramification filtration ofG = Gal(E/K) defined by . Next, we study the basic properties of the idealf(E/K) inO k in caseE/K is a metabelian extension utilizing Koch-de Shalit metabelian local class field theory (cf. [8]). After reviewing the Artin charactera G : G → ℂ ofG := Gal(E/K) and Artin representationsA g G → G →GL(V) corresponding toa G : G → ℂ, we prove that (Proposition 3.2 and Corollary 3.5) where Χgr : G → ℂ is the character associated to an irreducible representation ρ: G → GL(V) ofG (over ℂ). The first main result (Theorem 1.2) of the paper states that, if in particular,ρ : G → GL(V) is an irreducible representation ofG(over ℂ) with metabelian image, then where Gal(Eker(ρ)/Eker(ρ)•) is any maximal abelian normal subgroup of Gal(Eker(ρ)/K) containing Gal(Eker(ρ) /K)′, and the break nG/ker(ρ) in the upper ramification filtration of G/ker(ρ) can be computed and located by metabelian local class field theory. The proof utilizes Basmaji’s theory on the structure of irreducible faithful representations of finite metabelian groups (cf. [1]) and on metabelian local class field theory (cf. [8]). We then discuss the application of Theorem 1.2 on a problem posed by Weil on the construction of a ‘natural’A G ofG over ℂ (Problem 1.3). More precisely, we prove in Theorem 1.4 that ifE/K is a metabelian extension with Galois group G, then Kazim İlhan ikeda whereN runs over all normal subgroups of G, and for such anN, V n denotes the collection of all ∼-equivalence classes [ω]∼, where ‘∼’ denotes the equivalence relation on the set of all representations ω : (G/N) → ℂΧ satisfying the conditions Inert(ω) = {δ ∈ G/N : ℂδ} = ω =(G/N) and where δ runs over R((G/N)/(G/N)), a fixed given complete system of representatives of (G/N)/(G/N), by declaring that ω1 ∼ ω2 if and only if ω1 = ω 2,δ for some δ ∈ R((G/N)/(G/N)). Finally, we conclude our paper with certain remarks on Problem 1.1 and Problem 1.3.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the injective cover of theR-moduleE(R/B)/R/B for a prime ideal B ofR is the direct sum of copies ofE(R/B) for prime ideals D ⊃ B, and if B is maximal, the injective cover is a finite sum of copies ofE(R/B). For a finitely generatedR-moduleM withn generators andG an injectiveR-module, we argue that the natural mapG nG n/Hom R (M, G) is an injective precover if Ext R 1 (M, R) = 0, and that the converse holds ifG is an injective cogenerator ofR. Consequently, for a maximal ideal R ofR, depthR R ≧ 2 if and only if the natural mapE(R/R) →E(R/R)/R/R is an injective cover and depthR R > 0.  相似文献

Let G be a p-adic Lie group. Then G is a locally compact, totally disconnected group, to which Willis [14] associates its scale function G : G→ℕ. We show that s can be computed on the Lie algebra level. The image of s consists of powers of p. If G is a linear algebraic group over ℚ p , s(x)=s(h) is determined by the semisimple part h of xG. For every finite extension K of ℚ p , the scale functions of G and H:=G(K) are related by s H G =s G [ K :ℚ p ]. More generally, we clarify the relations between the scale function of a p-adic Lie group and the scale functions of its closed subgroups and Hausdorff quotients. The closed neighborhood NG[e] of an edge e in a graph G is the set consisting of e and of all edges having an end-vertex in common with e. Let f be a function on E(G), the edge set of G, into the set {−1, 1}. If for each eE(G), then f is called a signed edge dominating function of G. The signed edge domination number γs(G) of G is defined as . Recently, Xu proved that γs(G) ≥ |V(G)| − |E(G)| for all graphs G without isolated vertices. In this paper we first characterize all simple connected graphs G for which γs(G) = |V(G)| − |E(G)|. This answers Problem 4.2 of [4]. Then we classify all simple connected graphs G with precisely k cycles and γs(G) = 1 − k, 2 − k. A. Khodkar: Research supported by a Faculty Research Grant, University of West Georgia. A Roman dominating function on a graph G is a function f : V(G) → {0, 1, 2} satisfying the condition that every vertex u for which f (u) = 0 is adjacent to at least one vertex v for which f (v) = 2. The weight of a Roman dominating function is the value f (V(G)) = ?u ? V(G) f (u){f (V(G)) = \sum_{u\in V(G)} f (u)}. The Roman domination number, γ R (G), of G is the minimum weight of a Roman dominating function on G. The Roman bondage number b R (G) of a graph G with maximum degree at least two is the minimum cardinality of all sets E í E(G){E^{\prime} \subseteq E(G)} for which γ R (GE′) > γ R (G). In this paper we present different bounds on the Roman bondage number of planar graphs.  相似文献

A lower bound on the total signed domination numbers of graphs   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Let G be a finite connected simple graph with a vertex set V(G)and an edge set E(G). A total signed domination function of G is a function f:V(G)∪E(G)→{-1,1}.The weight of f is W(f)=∑_(x∈V)(G)∪E(G))f(X).For an element x∈V(G)∪E(G),we define f[x]=∑_(y∈NT[x])f(y).A total signed domination function of G is a function f:V(G)∪E(G)→{-1,1} such that f[x]≥1 for all x∈V(G)∪E(G).The total signed domination numberγ_s~*(G)of G is the minimum weight of a total signed domination function on G. In this paper,we obtain some lower bounds for the total signed domination number of a graph G and compute the exact values ofγ_s~*(G)when G is C_n and P_n.  相似文献

LetG denote either of the groupsGL 2(q) or SL2(q). Then θ :GG given by θ(A) = (A t)t, whereA t denotes the transpose of the matrixA, is an automorphism ofG. Therefore we may form the groupG.θ> which is the split extension of the groupG by the cyclic group θ of order 2. Our aim in this paper is to find the complex irreducible character table ofG. θ.  相似文献

Summary We study minimal and totally geodesic submanifolds in Lie groups and related problems. We show that: (1) The imbedding of the Grassmann manifold GF(n,N) in the Lie group GF(N) defined naturally makes GF(n,N) a totally geodesic submanifold; (2) The imbedding S7SO(8) defined by octonians makes S7a totally geodesic submanifold inSO(8); (3) The natural inclusion of the Lie group GF(N) in the sphere ScN^2-1(√N) of gl(N,F)is minimal. Therefore the natural imbedding GF(N)<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Lucida Sans Unicode"'>→gl(N,F)is formed by the eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on GF(N).  相似文献

For a fibre preserving map ϕ: EE on a fibration (E, π, B), we construct a grading preserving map T(ϕ, π) between H*(E) and H*(B) that generalizes the Lefschetz number. If T(ϕ, π) is an isomorphism between H 0(E) and H 0(B), then π restricts to a surjective local diffeomorphism on each connected component of the fixed point set of ϕ under a transversality condition. This yields a characterization for the bundle HGG/H to be trivial when π 1 (G/H) = 0.  相似文献

Letf: (M,g)→(N,g′) be a differentiable map between the riemannian manifoldsM andN, M being compact.K. Uhlenbeck pointed out a functionalE m(f), related to the energy density off, that depends only on the conformal structure ofM. In this paper we prove thatE m(f) is stationary with respect to deformations of the riemannian metric ofM if and only iff is weakly conformal; in this casef provides a local minimum ofE m.  相似文献

Let E Aff(Γ,G, m) be the set of affine equivalence classes of m-dimensional complete flat manifolds with a fixed fundamental group Γ and a fixed holonomy group G. Let n be the dimension of a closed flat manifold whose fundamental group is isomorphic to Γ. We describe E Aff(Γ,G, m) in terms of equivalence classes of pairs (ε, ρ), consisting of epimorphisms of Γ onto G and representations of G in ℝ m-n . As an application we give some estimates of card E Aff(Γ,G, m).  相似文献

We prove the existence and the uniqueness of a solutionu of−Lu+h|u| α-1u=f in some open domain ℝd, whereL is a strongly elliptic operator,f a nonnegative function, and α>1, under the assumption that ∂G is aC 2 compact hypersurface, lim x→∂G (dist(x, ∂G))2α/(α-1) f(x)=0, and lim x→∂G u(x)=∞.  相似文献

Let G =(V, E) be a connected simple graph. A labeling f : V → Z2 induces an edge labeling f* : E → Z2 defined by f*(xy) = f(x) +f(y) for each xy ∈ E. For i ∈ Z2, let vf(i) = |f^-1(i)| and ef(i) = |f*^-1(i)|. A labeling f is called friendly if |vf(1) - vf(0)| ≤ 1. For a friendly labeling f of a graph G, we define the friendly index of G under f by if(G) = e(1) - el(0). The set [if(G) | f is a friendly labeling of G} is called the full friendly index set of G, denoted by FFI(G). In this paper, we will determine the full friendly index set of every Cartesian product of two cycles.  相似文献

In 1980, M. Hasson raised a conjecture as follows: Let N≥1, then there exists a function f0(x)∈C [−1,1] 2N , for N+1≤k≤2N, such that p n (k) (f0,1)→f 0 (k) (1), n→∞, where pn(f,x) is the algebraic polynomial of best approximation of degree ≤n to f(x). In this paper, a, positive answer to this conjecture is given.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph with n vertices. For any v ? V(G){v \in V(G)} , let N(v)={u ? V(G): uv ? E(G)}{N(v)=\{u \in V(G): uv \in E(G)\}} , NC(G) = min{|N(u) èN(v)|: u, v ? V(G){NC(G)= \min \{|N(u) \cup N(v)|: u, v \in V(G)} and uv \not ? E(G)}{uv \not \in E(G)\}} , and NC2(G) = min{|N(u) èN(v)|: u, v ? V(G){NC_2(G)= \min\{|N(u) \cup N(v)|: u, v \in V(G)} and u and v has distance 2 in E(G)}. Let l ≥ 1 be an integer. A graph G on nl vertices is [l, n]-pan-connected if for any u, v ? V(G){u, v \in V(G)} , and any integer m with lmn, G has a (u, v)-path of length m. In 1998, Wei and Zhu (Graphs Combinatorics 14:263–274, 1998) proved that for a three-connected graph on n ≥ 7 vertices, if NC(G) ≥ n − δ(G) + 1, then G is [6, n]-pan-connected. They conjectured that such graphs should be [5, n]-pan-connected. In this paper, we prove that for a three-connected graph on n ≥ 7 vertices, if NC 2(G) ≥ n − δ(G) + 1, then G is [5, n]-pan-connected. Consequently, the conjecture of Wei and Zhu is proved as NC 2(G) ≥ NC(G). Furthermore, we show that the lower bound is best possible and characterize all 2-connected graphs with NC 2(G) ≥ n − δ(G) + 1 which are not [4, n]-pan-connected.  相似文献

LetG be a unimodular Lie group, Γ a co-compact discrete subgroup ofG and ‘a’ a semisimple element ofG. LetT a be the mapgΓ →ag Γ:G/Γ →G/Γ. The following statements are pairwise equivalent: (1) (T a, G/Γ,θ) is weak-mixing. (2) (T a, G/Γ) is topologically weak-mixing. (3) (G u, G/Γ) is uniquely ergodic. (4) (G u, G/Γ,θ) is ergodic. (5) (G u, G/Γ) is point transitive. (6) (G u, G/Γ) is minimal. If in additionG is semisimple with finite center and no compact factors, then the statement “(T a, G/Γ,θ) is ergodic” may be added to the above list. We define and study a class of summable processes, called additive summable processes, that is larger than the class used by Dinculeanu and Brooks [D-B]. We relax the definition of a summable processesX:Ω×ℝ+EL(F, G) by asking for the associated measureI X to have just an additive extension to the predictableσ-algebra ℘, such that each of the measures (I X) z , forz∈(L G p )*, beingσ-additive, rather than having aσ-additive extension. We define a stochastic integral with respect to such a process and we prove several properties of the integral. After that we show that this class of summable processes contains all processesX:Ω×ℝ+EL(F, G) with integrable semivariation ifc 0G.  相似文献

Let G be a finite p-group with subgroup H and k a field of characteristic p. We study the endomorphism algebra E = EndkG(kHG), showing that it is a split extension of a nilpotent ideal by the group algebra kNG(H)/H. We identify the space of endomorphisms that factor through a projective kG-module and hence the endomorphism ring of kHG in the stable module category, and determine the Loewy structure of E when G has nilpotency class 2 and [G, H] is cyclic.  Let X be one of the Banach spaces c 0 , ℓ p , 1≤p<∞; Ω⊂X pseudoconvex open, a holomorphic Banach vector bundle with a Banach Lie group G * for structure group. We show that a suitable Runge-type approximation hypothesis on X, G * (which we also prove for G * a solvable Lie group) implies the vanishing of the sheaf cohomology groups H q (Ω, 𝒪 E ), q≥1, with coefficients in the sheaf of germs of holomorphic sections of E. Further, letting 𝒪Γ (𝒞Γ) be the sheaf of germs of holomorphic (continuous) sections of a Banach Lie group bundle Γ→Ω with Banach Lie groups G, G * for fiber group and structure group, we show that a suitable Runge-type approximation hypothesis on X, G, G * (which we prove again for G, G * solvable Lie groups) implies the injectivity (and for X=ℓ1 also the surjectivity) of the Grauert–Oka map H 1 (Ω, 𝒪Γ)→H 1 (Ω, 𝒞Γ) of multiplicative cohomology sets.
