Gold nanoparticles were surface modified with an ionizable and pH-sensitive monolayer of thiobarbituric acid (TBA). By variation of the pH value of the solution, nanoparticle aggregates can be produced in a controlled way. The aggregates thus prepared were irradiated with an intense pulsed laser at 532 nm. The products in solution were examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and optical absorption spectroscopy. The TEM images of the products revealed that the nanoparticle aggregates dissociate upon laser irradiation and form much smaller gold nanoparticles. The optical absorption spectra measured simultaneously show the gradual disappearance of the absorbance band of the aggregates at around 680 nm. Additionally, a blue shift (from 534 to 524 nm) of the resonance absorbance corresponding to isolated nanoparticles has been observed. All the observations suggest that the colloidal solution becomes more stable after laser irradiation. Both the reduced nanoparticle size and the stabilizing TBA ligands present on the particle surface contribute to the acquired stability of the colloidal solutions.  相似文献

The kinetics of the formation of gold nanoparticles on the surface of pre-illuminated TiO(2) have been investigated using stopped-flow technique and steady state UV/Vis spectroscopy. Excess electrons were loaded on the employed nanosized titanium dioxide particles by UV-A photolysis in the presence of methanol serving as hole scavenger, stored on them in the absence of oxygen and subsequently used for the reduction of Au(III) ions. The formation of gold nanoparticles with an average diameter of 5 nm was confirmed after mixing of the TiO(2) nanoparticles loaded with electrons with aqueous solution of tetrachloroaureate (HAuCl(4)) by their surface plasmon absorbance band at 530 nm, as well as by XRD and HRTEM measurements. The rate of formation of the gold nanoparticles was found to be a function of the concentration of the gold ions and the concentration of the stored electrons, respectively. The effect of PVA as a stabilizer of the gold nanoclusters was also studied. The observed kinetic behavior suggests that the formation of the gold nanoparticles on the TiO(2) surface is an autocatalytic process comprising of two main steps: 1) Reduction of the gold ions by the stored electrons on TiO(2) forming gold atoms that turn into gold nuclei. 2) Growth of the metal nuclei on the surface of TiO(2) forming the gold particles. Interestingly, at higher TiO(2) electron loading the excess electrons are subsequently transferred to the deposited gold metal particles resulting in "bleaching" of their surface plasmon band. This bleaching in the surface plasmon band is explained by the Fermi level equilibration of the Au/TiO(2) nanocomposites. Finally, the reduction of water resulting in the evolution of molecular hydrogen initiated by the excess electrons that have been transferred to the previously formed gold particles has also been observed. The mechanism of the underlying multistep electron-transfer process has been discussed in detail.  相似文献

Liquid phase gold nanoparticles with different diameters and colors can be prepared using sodium citrate reduction method by controlling the amounts of sodium citrate. The mean diameters of gold nanoparticles are measured by transmission electron microscope (TEM). Gold nanoparticles with different sizes have specific absorption spectra. When the diameters of nanoparticles is between 12 and 41 nm, the maximum absorption peaks locate at 520-530 nm and there are red shifts gradually with the increase of diameters of gold nanoparticles. And when the size of gold nanoparticle is constant, the absorbance is proportional to the concentration of gold. Obvious resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) and the resonance non-linear scattering such as second-order scattering (SOS) and frequency-doubling scattering (FDS) appear at the same time as well, and the maximum scattering peaks are located at 286 nm (RRS), 480 nm (SOS) and 310 nm (FDS), respectively. When the concentration of gold is constant, absorbance and the intensities of RRS, SOS and FDS (I(RRS), I(SOS) and I(FDS)) have linear relationships with the diameters of gold nanoparticles. When the diameter of gold nanoparticle is constant, the absorbance and I(RRS), I(SOS), I(FDS) are directly proportional to the concentrations of gold nanoparticles. Therefore, it is very useful for studying the liquid phase gold nanoparticles by investigating the absorption, RRS, SOS and FDS spectra.  相似文献

The stepwise construction of a novel kind of self-assembled organic/inorganic multilayers based on multivalent supramolecular interactions between guest-functionalized dendrimers and host-modified gold nanoparticles has been developed, yielding supramolecular layer-by-layer assembly. The deposition process was monitored by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy. Further characterization of the multilayer films was performed by means of UV/vis absorption spectroscopy, which showed a linear increase in absorption with the number of bilayers. The growth of the gold nanoparticle plasmon absorption band corresponded to approximately a dense monolayer of gold nanoparticles per bilayer. Ellipsometry and atomic force microscopy (AFM) scratching experiments were used to measure the development of the film thickness with the number of bilayers, confirming linear growth and a thickness increase of approximately 2 nm/bilayer.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) functionalized with aliphatic bifunctional thiols (1,4-butanedithiol, 1,6-hexanedithiol, 1,8-octanedithiol, and 2-aminoethanethiol) through a direct solvent-free procedure. Small gold particles, with a narrow particle size distribution around 1.7 nm, were obtained on 1,6-hexanedithiol-functionalized MWNTs. For MWNTs functionalized with the aminothiol, the average Au particle size was larger, 5.5 nm, apparently due to a coalescence phenomenon. Gatan image filter (GIF) observations show that sulfur is at the nanotube surface with a non-homogeneous distribution. A higher sulfur concentration was observed around the gold nanoparticles' location.  相似文献

A maleated ethylene-propylene copolymer (EP-MAH) was labelled with 1-naphthalene- and/or 1-pyrenemethylamine to yield an EP copolymer bearing succinimide pendants all labelled with a chromophore. The labelled EPs were reacted with LiAlH4 so that the polar succinimide linker group between the EP backbone and the chromophore was converted into apolar pyrrolidine units. The resulting products were purified through a gel permeation chromatography column to remove the cleaved off chromophores. FT-IR spectroscopy revealed that after reduction, the peak assigned to the succinimide carbonyls was strongly diminished. UV-vis absorption and steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence measurements were performed in hexane and THF. The reduction of the succinimide carbonyls was found to have a significant effect on the luminescence properties of the labelled EPs. The polar associations taking place between the succinimide moieties in hexane were found to be dramatically decreased after reduction as shown by UV-vis absorption, steady-state excitation and emission fluorescence, time-resolved fluorescence, and fluorescence resonance energy transfer. These results demonstrate that the presence of pyrene aggregates for EP-MAH labelled with 1-pyrenemethylamine is due primarily to the polar succinimide moieties rather than the aromatic pyrene.  相似文献

The optical switching of coupled plasmons of silver nanoparticles derivatised with a photoisomerisable azobenzene ligand is presented. It is shown that nanoparticle clusters, linked with an azobenzene dithiol molecule, display switchable optical properties. The photoisomerisation of the linker molecule was used to vary the separation between nanoparticles, which was monitored by changes in the UV-Vis-spectra of the plasmon band of adjacent nanoparticles. A red-shift due to the appearance of a coupled longitudinal plasmon band was observed resulting from the formation of nanoparticle clusters. The maximum absorbance wavelength of this secondary plasmon band was altered by isomerisation of the linker and the spectral changes observed were in good agreement with theory and earlier measurements for gold. Evidence of energy transfer between a nanoparticle and an azobenzene terminated monothiol attached to it was also observed in the UV-Vis spectra.  相似文献

We report a novel process to prepare well-dispersed Pt nanoparticles on CNTs. Pt nanoparticles, which were modified by the organic molecule triphenylphosphine, were deposited on multiwalled carbon nanotubes by the organic molecule, which acts as a cross linker. By manipulating the relative ratio of Pt nanoparticles and multiwalled carbon nanotubes in solution, Pt/CNT composites with different Pt content were achieved. The so-prepared Pt/CNT composite materials show higher electrocatalytic activity and better tolerance to poisoning species in methanol oxidation than the commercial E-TEK catalyst, which can be ascribed to the high dispersion of Pt nanoparticles on the multiwalled carbon nanotube surface.  相似文献

A study was carried out on the optical properties of multilayered surface structures obtained by the coordination binding of gold nanoparticles to a silver surface by Zr(IV) ions. Such a system displays high absorption capacity in a broad spectral range (200-2000 nm), which is observed visually as an ultra-black coating. A physical interpretation of this effect is attributed to an interaction between plasmon excitations on the silver surface and the gold nanoparticle film separated by a dielectric bridge structure consisting of d-metal ions.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles having sequential alternating amphiphilic peptide chains, Phe-(Leu-Glu)8, on the surface have been prepared. We describe structural control of the amphiphilic peptide coated gold nanoparticle assembly by a conformational transition of the surface peptides. Under the acidic condition, the conformation of the surface amphiphilic peptide was converted to a beta-sheet structure from an aggregated alpha-helix by incubation. Under this condition, the amphiphilic peptide coated gold nanoparticles formed a nanosheet assembly. The plasmon absorption maximum of the gold nanoparticles shifted to a shorter wavelength with the formation of the beta-sheet assembly of the surface peptide. This suggests that the structure of the peptide coated gold nanoparticle assembly could be controlled by the conformational transition of the surface peptide. Furthermore, the core gold nanoparticle could be fixed in the beta-sheet assembly in the state that stood alone. This system may be useful for novel molecular devices that exhibit quantized properties.  相似文献

We newly synthesized various sized gold nanoparticles covered with photochromic polymers consisting of diarylethenes with various structures to investigate an effect of the gold nanoparticles on the photocycloreversion reaction of the diarylethene chromophores upon irradiation with visible light. The gold nanoparticles covered with the photochromic polymers exhibited reversible changes in localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) absorption along with the photochromic reaction depending on the diameter of the particle, the distance between the gold surface and the chromophore, and the structure of the diarylethene chromophore. The rate of the photocycloreversion reaction of the chromophores around the particle was enhanced by the gold nanoparticles and the degree of the enhancement was affected by the diameter of the particle and the distance from the gold surface, while a structural difference in the diarylethene chromophore had no effect on the degree of the enhancement. The larger enhancement of the photocycloreversion reaction was observed by irradiation at longer wavelength side than visible light corresponding to the LSPR frequency.  相似文献

A colorimetric assay utilizing the formation of gold nanoparticles was developed to detect tetracycline antibiotics in fluidic samples. Tetracycline antibiotics showed the capability of directly reducing aurate salts into atomic gold which form gold nanoparticles spontaneously under proper conditions. The resulted gold nanoparticles showed characteristic plasmon absorbance at 526 nm, which can be visualized by naked eyes or with a spectrophotometer. UV–vis absorbance of the resulted gold nanoparticles is correlated directly with the concentrations of tetracycline antibiotics in the solution, allowing for quantitative colorimetric detection of tetracycline antibiotics. Reaction conditions, such as pH, temperature, reaction time, and ionic strength were optimized. Sensitivity of the colorimetric assay can be enhanced by the addition of gold nanoparticle seeds, a LOD as low as 20 ng mL−1 can be achieved with the help of seed particles. The colorimetric assay showed minimum interference from ethanol, methanol, urea, glucose, and other antibiotics such as sulfonamides, amino glycosides etc. Validity of the method was also evaluated on urine samples spiked with tetracycline antibiotics. The method provides a broad spectrum detection method for rapid and sensitive detection of reductive substances such as tetracycline antibiotics in liquid and biological samples.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles are synthesized by laser ablation of a gold plate in toluene. The nanoparticles do not show their characteristic surface plasmon absorption (SPA) and are found to be included in a graphitic matrix. The absence of this absorption is found to derive from the presence of the matrix which prevents the growth of large nanoparticles and covers them, suppressing the SPA according to the Mie model for core@shell particles. It is possible to recover the nanoparticle SPA by oxidizing the carbon matrix, obtaining, therefore, some control on the activity of this absorption.  相似文献

During recent years investigation on the development of eco-friendly processes for production of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have received much attention due to hazardous effects of chemical compounds used for nanoparticle preparation. In the present study, the purified laccase from Paraconiothyrium variabile was applied for synthesis of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) and the properties of produced nanoparticles were characterized. The UV-vis spectrum of formed AuNPs showed a peak at 530 nm related to surface plasmon absorbance of GNPs represented the formation of gold nanoparticles after 20 min incubation of HAuCl(4) (0.6 mM) in the presence of 73 U laccase at 70°C. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image of AuNPs showed well dispersed nanoparticles in the range of 71-266 nm as determined by the laser light scattering method. The pattern of energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) of the prepared GNPs confirmed the structure of gold nanocrystals.  相似文献

A photochemical reduction of Au3+ with continuous 250-400 nm excitation is studied in ethylene glycol, and poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) is used as a capping material. After the absorption of Au3+ disappears, excitation is stopped. The surface plasmon absorption of gold as well as the thermal reappearance of the Au3+ absorption are found to increase as a function of time. The rates of these changes are studied as a function of the mole fraction of ethylene glycol in water. Experimental results show that a small amount of ethylene glycol increases the formation of gold nanoparticles and decreases the reformation of the Au3+ absorption after irradiation. Increasing the glycol concentration first increases the rate of formation of gold nanoparticles to a maximum at a mole fraction 0.40. As the glycol concentration is further increased, the rate of formation of the gold nanoparticles and the rate of re-formation of Au3+ decrease. A mechanism is proposed that involves the reduction of the excited Au3+ to Au2+ by ethylene glycol. This is followed by the disproportionation of Au2+ to Au3+ and Au1+. Both the reduction of Au1+ by ethylene glycol and its disproportionation lead to the formation of Au0, which upon nucleation and growth form Au nanoparticles.  相似文献

We have developed a colloidal assembly for the study of plasmon–plasmon interactions between gold nanoparticles. Colloidal aggregates of controlled size and interparticle spacing were synthesized on silica nanoparticle substrates. Following the immobilization of isolated gold nanoparticles onto silica nanoparticles, the surfaces of the adsorbed gold nanoparticles were functionalized with 4-aminobenzenethiol. This molecular linker attached additional gold nanoparticles to the ‘parent' gold nanoparticle, forming small nanoparticle aggregates. The optical absorption spectrum of these clusters differed from that of gold colloid in a manner consistent with plasmon–plasmon interactions between the gold nanoparticles.  相似文献

Fluoroalkyl end-capped co-oligomeric nanoparticles, which were prepared by the reaction of fluoroalkanoyl peroxide with 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) and 1-hydroxy-5-adamantylacrylate (Ad-HAc), were applied to the preparation of novel fluorinated co-oligomeric nanocomposite-encapsulated gold nanoparticles. These fluorinated gold nanocomposites were easily prepared by the reductions of gold ions with poly(methylhydrosiloxane) (PMHS) in the presence of the corresponding fluorinated nanoparticles and tri -n-octylamine (TOA) in 1,2-dichloroethane (DE) at room temperature. These fluorinated gold nanoparticles were isolated as wine-red powders and were found to exhibit good dispersibility in a variety of traditional organic solvents such as DE, methanol, and t-butyl alcohol to afford transparent wine-red solutions. The morphology and stability of these fluorinated co-oligomeic nanocomposite-encapsulated gold nanoparticles were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering measurements (DLS), and UV-vis spectroscopy. DLS measurements and UV-vis spectroscopy showed that these particles are nanometer-size-controlled very fine nanoparticles (185-218 nm) that exhibit a plasmon absorption band at around 530 nm. TEM images also showed that gold nanoparticles are tightly encapsulated into fluorinated co-oligomeric nanoparticle cores. Interestingly, these fluorinated co-oligomeric nanocomposites-encapsulated gold nanoparticles were found to afford linear arrays of these fluorinated nanoparticles with increases in the feed amounts of TOA. More interestingly, these fluorinated gold nanoparticles were able to afford the extremely red-shifted plasmon absorption band at around 960 nm.  相似文献

A novel approach to assemble multilayer films of Pt nanoparticle/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNTs) composites on Au substrate has been developed for the purpose of improving the methanol oxidation efficiency by providing high catalytic surface area. MWNTs were firstly functionalized with 4‐mercaptobenzene and then assembled on an Au substrate electrode. Pt nanoparticles were fabricated and attached to the surface of the functionalized MWNTs subsequently. Thus a layer of Pt/MWNT composites were assembled on the Au substrate electrode. Repeating above process can assemble different layers of film of Pt/MWNTs composites on the Au electrode. Cyclic voltammetry shows that the Au electrode modified with two layers of film of Pt/MWNT composites exhibits high catalytic ability and long‐term stability for methanol oxidation. The layer‐by‐layer self‐assembly technique provides an efficient strategy to construct complex nanostructure for improving the methanol oxidation efficiency by providing high catalytic surface area.  相似文献

The effect of network parameters of three-dimensionally crosslinked polyacrylic optically transparent matrices on the generation of surface plasmon resonance of gold nanoparticles forming during irradiation of Au3+ salt solutions in a liquid acrylic composite is studied. During the UV irradiation of a solution, the photoreduction of gold and the photoinitiated polymerization of acrylates proceed simultaneously to form transparent colorless films in which, after subsequent light and/or heat treatment, an absorption band near 550 nm that corresponds to the plasmon resonance of nanosize metal particles is generated. During the photoreduction of gold salt in matrices of oligo(urethane acrylate) composites with similar structures of the oligomeric block, the parameters of the three-dimensional network—the internodal and interchain distances—affect the rate of generation of gold nanoparticles but not the limiting value of optical density for the plasmon-resonance band of nanoparticles. Polyacrylate matrices may serve as a registering medium for optical data recording.  相似文献
