Composite structures on an elastic foundation are being widely used in engineering applications. Bending response of inhomogeneous viscoelastic plate as a composite structure on a two-parameter (Pasternak’s type) elastic foundation is investigated. The formulations are based on sinusoidal shear deformation plate theory. Trigonometric terms are used in the present theory for the displacements in addition to the initial terms of a power series through the thickness. The transverse shear correction factors are not needed because a correct representation of the transverse shear strain is given. The interaction between the plate and the foundation is included in the formulation with a two-parameter Pasternak’s model. The effective moduli and Illyushin’s approximation methods are used to derive the viscoelastic solution. The effects played by foundation stiffness, plate aspect ratio, and other parameters are presented.  相似文献

The thermomechanical bending of an elastic sandwich ring plate with light core on an elastic foundation is considered. To describe the kinematics of the plate that is asymmetric across the thickness, broken-normal hypotheses are accepted. The foundation reaction is described by Winkler's model. A system of equilibrium equations is derived and solved for displacements. A contact problem of an axisymmetrically loaded flexible ring plate lying frictionlessly on an elastic half-space is considered. The plate subsidences are represented as a power series with unknown coefficients, which are determined by the Rayleigh-Ritz method using the minimum condition for the total strain energy of the plate and the elastic foundation. The mixed first-order shear deformation plate theory(MFPT) is employed to study the bending response of simply-supported orthotropic plates.The present plate is subjected to a mechanical load and resting on Pasternak’s model or Winkler’s model of elastic foundation or without any elastic foundation.Several examples are presented to verify the accuracy of the present theory.Numerical results for deflection and stresses are presented.The proposed MFPT is shown simplely to implement and capable of giving satisfactory results for shear deformable plates under static loads and resting on two-parameter elastic foundation.The results presented here show that the characteristics of deflection and stresses are significantly influenced by the elastic foundation stiffness,plate aspect ratio and side-to-thickness ratio.  相似文献

The stability of an infinite viscoelastic plate on an elastic foundation in a viscous incompressible flow is studied. The Navier-Stokes system is linearized for an exponential velocity profile. The problem is reduced by a Fourier-Laplace transform to a system of ordinary differential equations, whose solution is found in the form of convergent series. The roots of the dispersion relation that characterize the stability of the system are found numerically. The effect of the viscosities of the fluid and the plate on the stability of the waves propagating upstream and downstream is studied. Summary  The aim of this contribution is to formulate an engineering theory describing the effect of periodic structure of the elastic foundation on the dynamic behaviour of a plate with geometrical periodical imperfections, Fig. 1. It is shown that the obtained solutions depend on the structure length parameter l of the elastic foundation and the wave length of imperfections. A method based on a perfect rigid-plastic body model is developed to analyze the dynamic behavior of hinged or clamped polygonal plates that have a perfectly rigid insert and rest on a viscoelastic foundation with supports. The plate is subject to an arbitrary blast load of high intensity uniformly distributed over the plate surface. Two cases of plate deformation are examined. In each of the cases, equations of motion are derived and realization conditions are analyzed. Analytic expressions for the deformation time and the maximum residual deflection are derived in the case of an arbitrary load of medium intensity and in the case of high-intensity load described by a rectangular function. Frozen-stress techniques were used to analyze an orthotropic plate on a continuous, nonlinear foundation. A long-range objective of the investigation was to provide experimental results to compare with a future finite-element analysis of the same type problem. Data were presented to illustrate principal stress magnitudes and directions. Close agreement of a static equilibrium check of the nonlinear foundation with the applied load experimentally verified the procedure used for calculation of external pressure on the model-foundation interface. A general formulation is developed for the contact behavior of a finite circular plate with a tensionless elastic foundation. The gap distance between the plate and elastic foundation is incorporated as an important parameter. Unlike the previous models with zero gap distance and large/infinite plate radius, which assumes the lift-off/separation of a flexural plate from its supporting elastic foundation, this study shows that lift-off may not occur. The results show how the contact area varies with the plate radius, boundary conditions and gap distance. When the plate radius becomes large enough and the gap distance is reduced to zero, the converged contact radius close to the previous ones is obtained.  相似文献

This paper deals with vibrations of an infinite plate in contact with an acoustic medium where the plate is subjected to a point excitation by an electric motor of limited power-supply. The whole system is divided into two “exciter - foundation” and “foundation-plate-medium”. In the system “motor-foundation” three classes of steady state regimes are determined: stationary, periodic and chaotic. The vibrations of the plate and the pressure in the acoustic fluid are described for each of these regimes of excitation. For the first class they are periodic functions of time, for the second they are modulated periodic functions, in general with an infinite number of carrying frequencies, the difference between which is constant. For the last class they correspond to chaotic functions. In another mathematical model where the exciter stands directly on an infinite plate (without foundation) it was shown that chaos might occur in the system due to the feedback influence of waves in the infinite hydro-elastic subsystem in the regime of motor shaft rotation. In this case the process of rotation can be approximately described as a solution of the fourth order nonlinear differential equation and may have the same three classes of steady state regimes as the first model. That is the electric motor may generate periodic acoustic waves, modulated waves with an infinite number of frequencies or chaotic acoustic waves in a fluid.  相似文献

On the basis of a numerical solution of the unsteady Navier-Stokes equations, the flow past a finite plate with an upstream-moving surface is investigated. For the Reynolds numbers Re =102−104, the flow past the plate is analyzed as a function of the relative plate surface velocity. On the basis of this analysis a limiting mathematical model of the flow as Re → ∞ is proposed.  相似文献

Summary The aim of the paper is to investigate the dynamic response of thin elastic plates having periodic substructure in planes parallel to the plates midplane and interacting with a Winkler foundation. The main goal of the analysis is to describe the effect of substructure size on the plates dynamics. For this purpose, the method proposed in [4, 5] is used. Two special cases are analysed: a plate band with a constant thickness interacting with a periodically inhomogeneous Winkler foundation, and a plate band with a periodically variable thickness interacting with a homogeneous Winkler foundation. This study compares the shedding behavior around and downstream of a single plate positioned in a flow field alone with the shedding behavior around and downstream of the same plate positioned in an array of identical plates. The shedding frequencies and corresponding Strouhal numbers based on chord [S r (c)] and based on thickness [S r (t)] are obtained using a hot-wire anemometer. In comparison with the plate positioned as a single plate, the same plate placed in a plate array shows increases in S r (c) of up to 55.5% and produces a dominant peak in the power spectra that is wider by a factor of 3.5. In contrast to the single-plate results, which exhibit step changes in S r (c) of about 0.6 at c/t ≈ 6, 8 and 11, the plate positioned in an array shows only one abrupt transition at c/t ≈ 4. A method for studying dynamic deformation of ideal rigid–plastic plates with a complex contour on a viscoelastic foundation is proposed. The method allows one to optimize the process of pulsed forming. The optimization parameters are the amplitude of the pulsed load, viscoelastic damping coefficients of the foundation, the surface density of the plate material, and the shape and supporting conditions of the edges. Numerical examples of simply– and doubly–connected plates are given. It is shown that different combinations of the control parameters of the process can ensure the same final shape of the plate formed.  相似文献

A steady laminar boundary layer flowing along a vertical plate immersed in a Darcy–Brinkman porous medium saturated with water at 4°C is studied. The plate temperature varies sinusoidally along the plate between 0 and 8°C where the density of water varies parabolically and is almost symmetrical at about 4°C. Except for the existence of the buoyancy force, it is assumed that either the plate moves upwards or the ambient water moves upwards (moving stream). The results are obtained with the direct numerical solution of the boundary layer equations taking into account the temperature dependence of water thermophysical properties (ρ, μ and c p). Results are presented for the wall temperature gradient and the wall shear stress along the plate for free convection and mixed convection.  The effect of transverse square grooves on the drag characteristics of a flat plate has been investigated using direct drag measurements in a tow tank. Two flat plates with 2.5 and 5 mm transverse square grooves, with groove spacing (s) to groove width (w) ratio, s/w=10, 20 and 40, were tested at plate length Reynolds numbers in the range 2–10×106. Numerical simulations of unsteady radiative-convective heat transfer in a turbulent flow of a mixture of gases and solid particles past a semi-transparent plate are performed. An ablation process is demonstrated to occur on the plate surface in the case of intense radiative heating of the plate by an external source with emission in a limited spectral range. Temperature fields and distributions of heat fluxes in the boundary layer and in the plate are calculated. It is shown that a fracture in an elastic plate floating on the surface of a shallow liquid layer is a waveguide along which wave energy can be transported. The problem of vibrations of a viscoelastic plate with concentrated masses is studied in a geometrically nonlinear formulation. In the equation of motion of the plate, the action of the concentrated masses is taken into account using Dirac δ-functions. The problem is reduced to solving a system of Volterra type ordinary nonlinear integrodifferential equations using the Bubnov-Galerkin method. The resulting system with a singular Koltunov-Rzhanitsyn kernel is solved using a numerical method based on quadrature formulas. The effect of the viscoelastic properties of the plate material and the location and amount of concentrated masses on the vibration amplitude and frequency characteristics is studied.
