In this paper, we examine the method of characteristic-mixed finite element for the approximation of convex optimal control problem governed by time-dependent convection-diffusion equations with control constraints. For the discretization of the state equation, the characteristic finite element is used for the approximation of the material derivative term (i.e., the time derivative term plus the convection term), and the lowest-order Raviart-Thomas mixed element is applied for the approximation of the diffusion term. We derive some a priori error estimates for both the state and control approximations.  相似文献

This article studies a posteriori error analysis of fully discrete finite element approximations for semilinear parabolic optimal control problems. Based on elliptic reconstruction approach introduced earlier by Makridakis and Nochetto [25], a residual based a posteriori error estimators for the state, co-state and control variables are derived. The space discretization of the state and co-state variables is done by using the piecewise linear and continuous finite elements, whereas the piecewise constant functions are employed for the control variable. The temporal discretization is based on the backward Euler method. We derive a posteriori error estimates for the state, co-state and control variables in the $L^\infty(0,T;L^2(\Omega))$-norm. Finally, a numerical experiment is performed to illustrate the performance of the derived estimators.  相似文献

In this article, we shall give a brief review on the fully discrete mixed finite element method for general optimal control problems governed by parabolic equations. The state and the co-state are approximated by the lowest order Raviart–Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control is approximated by piecewise constant elements. Furthermore, we derive a posteriori error estimates for the finite element approximation solutions of optimal control problems. Some numerical examples are given to demonstrate our theoretical results.  相似文献

In this article, we analyse a posteriori error estimates of mixed finite element discretizations for linear parabolic equations. The space discretization is done using the order λ?≥?1 Raviart–Thomas mixed finite elements, whereas the time discretization is based on discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods (r?≥?1). Using the duality argument, we derive a posteriori l (L 2) error estimates for the scalar function, assuming that only the underlying mesh is static.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a fully discrete local discontinuous Galerkin approximation of a non-linear non-Fickian diffusion model in viscoelastic polymers. For the spatial discretization, we adopt local discontinuous Galerkin finite element method and for the time discretization we use backward Euler method. We derive the stability estimate and a priori error estimate for the discrete scheme. Numerical examples are given to verify the theoretical findings.  相似文献

In this paper, we will investigate the error estimates and the superconvergence property of mixed finite element methods for a semilinear elliptic control problem with an integral constraint on control. The state and co-state are approximated by the lowest order Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We derive some superconvergence properties for the control variable and the state variables. Moreover, we derive $L^∞$- and $H^{-1}$-error estimates both for the control variable and the state variables. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

A sparse grid stochastic collocation method combined with discontinuous Galerkin method is developed for solving convection dominated diffusion optimal control problem with random coefficients. By the optimal control theory, an optimality system is obtained for the problem, which consists of a state equation, a co-state equation and an inequality. Based on finite dimensional noise assumption of random field, the random coefficients are assumed to have finite term expansions depending on a finite number of mutually independent random variables in the probability space. An approximation scheme is established by using a discontinuous Galerkin method for the physical space and a sparse grid stochastic collocation method based on the Smolyak construction for the probability space, which leads to the solution of uncoupled deterministic problems. A priori error estimates are derived for the state, co-state and control variables. Numerical experiments are presented to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

The goal of this paper is to study a mixed finite element approximation of the general convex optimal control problems governed by quasilinear elliptic partial differential equations. The state and co-state are approximated by the lowest order Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We derive a priori error estimates both for the state variables and the control variable. Finally, some numerical examples are given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze a characteristic finite element approximation of convex optimal control problems governed by linear convection-dominated diffusion equations with pointwise inequality constraints on the control variable, where the state and co-state variables are discretized by piecewise linear continuous functions and the control variable is approximated by either piecewise constant functions or piecewise linear discontinuous functions. A priori error estimates are derived for the state, co-state and the control. Numerical examples are given to show the efficiency of the characteristic finite element method.  相似文献

The Ciarlet–Raviart mixed finite element approximation is constructed to solve the constrained optimal control problem governed by the first bi-harmonic equation. The optimality conditions consisting of the state and the co-state equations is derived. Also, the a priori error estimates are analyzed. In the analysis of the a priori error estimates, the improved convergent rate of the higher order than existed results is proved. Some numerical experiments are performed to confirm the theoretical analysis for the a priori error estimate.  相似文献

In this paper a priori error analysis for the finite element discretization of an optimal control problem governed by an elliptic state equation is considered. The control variable enters the state equation as a coefficient and is subject to pointwise inequality constraints. We derive a priori error estimates for the discretization error in the control variable and confirm our theoretical results by numerical examples.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the a posteriori error analysis of discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods for the steady and nonsteady first order hyperbolic problems with inflow boundary conditions. We establish several residual-based a posteriori error estimators which provide global upper bounds and a local lower bound on the error. Further, for nonsteady problem, we construct a fully discrete discontinuous finite element scheme and derive the a posteriori error estimators which yield global upper bound on the error in time and space. Our a posteriori error analysis is based on the mesh-dependent a priori estimates for the first order hyperbolic problems. These a posteriori error analysis results can be applied to develop the adaptive discontinuous finite element methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a two-grid mixed finite element scheme for distributed optimal control governed by general elliptic equations. –P1 mixed finite elements are used for the discretization of the state and co-state variables, whereas piecewise constant function is used to approximate the control variable. We first use a new approach to obtain the superclose property between the centroid interpolation and the numerical solution of the optimal control u with order h2 under the low regularity. Based on the superclose property, we derive the optimal a priori error estimates. Then, using a postprocessing projection operator, we get a second-order superconvergent result for the control u. Next, we construct a two-grid mixed finite element scheme and analyze a priori error estimates. In the two-grid scheme, the solution of the elliptic optimal control problem on a fine grid is reduced to the solution of the elliptic optimal control problem on a much coarser grid and the solution of a linear algebraic system on the fine grid and the resulting solution still maintains an asymptotically optimal accuracy. Finally, a numerical example is presented to verify the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the a priori and a posteriori error estimates for the discontinuous Galerkin finite element approximation to a regularization version of the variational inequality of the second kind. We show the optimal error estimates in the DG-norm (stronger than the H1 norm) and the L2 norm, respectively. Furthermore, some residual-based a posteriori error estimators are established which provide global upper bounds and local lower bounds on the discretization error. These a posteriori analysis results can be applied to develop the adaptive DG methods.  相似文献

This article discusses a priori and a posteriori error estimates of discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for optimal control problem governed by the transport equation. We use variational discretization concept to discretize the control variable and discontinuous piecewise linear finite elements to approximate the state and costate variable. Based on the error estimates of discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for the transport equation, we get a priori and a posteriori error estimates for the transport equation optimal control problem. Finally, two numerical experiments are carried out to confirm the theoretical analysis.© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 1493–1512, 2017  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the superconvergence property and the $L^{\infty}$-error estimates of mixed finite element methods for a semilinear elliptic control problem with an integral constraint. The state and co-state are approximated by the order one Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element space and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions or piecewise linear functions. We derive some superconvergence results for the control variable and the state variables when the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. Moreover, we derive $L^{\infty}$-error estimates for both the control variable and the state variables when the control is discretized by piecewise linear functions. Finally, some numerical examples are given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the finite element methods for distributed optimal control problems governed by the biharmonic operator. Motivated from reducing the regularity of solution space, we use the decoupled mixed element method which was used to approximate the solution of biharmonic equation to solve the fourth order optimal control problems. Two finite element schemes, i.e., Lagrange conforming element combined with full control discretization and the nonconforming Crouzeix-Raviart element combined with variational control discretization, are used to discretize the decoupled optimal control system. The corresponding a priori error estimates are derived under appropriate norms which are then verified by extensive numerical experiments.  相似文献

In this paper, a priori error estimates are derived for the mixed finite element discretization of optimal control problems governed by fourth order elliptic partial differential equations. The state and co-state are discretized by Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. The error estimates derived for the state variable as well as those for the control variable seem to be new. We illustrate with a numerical example to confirm our theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate a space-time finite element approximation of parabolic optimal control problems. The first order optimality conditions are transformed into an elliptic equation of fourth order in space and second order in time involving only the state or the adjoint state in the space-time domain. We derive a priori and a posteriori error estimates for the time discretization of the state and the adjoint state. (© 2014 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献
