The spatiotemporal patterns and chaotic burst synchronization of a small-world neuronal network are studied in this paper. The synchronization parameter, similarity parameter and order parameter are introduced to investigate the dynamics behaviour of the neurons. Chaotic burst synchronization and nearly complete synchronization can be observed if the link probability and the coupling strength are large enough. It is found that with increasing link probability and the coupling strength chaotic bursts become appreciably synchronous in space and coherent in time, and the maximal spatiotemporal order appears at some particular values of the probability and the coupling strength, respectively. The larger the size of the network, the smaller the probability and the coupling strength are needed for the network to achieve burst synchronization. Moreover, the bursting activity and the spatiotemporal patterns are robust to small noise.  相似文献

We report the emergence of an explosive synchronization transition in the identical oscillators interacting indirectly through a network of dynamical agents. The transition from incoherent state to coherent state and vice–versa in these coupled oscillator exhibits an abrupt as well as irreversible. Such transition depends on the network topology as well as the interaction between the oscillators and dynamical agents rather than degree-frequency correlation in the network of oscillators. The occurrence of explosive synchronization is studied in details by using an appropriate order parameter for limit-cycle oscillators with respect to the different parameters like rewiring probability, average degree, and diffusion rate in dynamical agents.  相似文献

A nonlinear modeling approach is presented for the reconstruction of the synchronization structure in an asymmetric two-mass model from time series data. The asymmetric two-mass model describes a variety of normal and pathological human voices associated with synchronous and desynchronous oscillations of the two asymmetric vocal folds. Our technique recovers the synchronization diagram, which yields the regimes of synchronization as well as desynchronization, which are dependent upon the asymmetry parameter and the subglottal pressure. This allows the prediction of the regime of pathological phonation associated with desynchronization of the vocal folds from a few sets of recorded time series. It is shown that the modeling is quite effective when the time series data are chaotic and if they are taken from a regime of desynchronization. We discuss the applicability of the present approach as a diagnostic tool for voice pathologies.  相似文献

Recently, the explosive synchronization (ES) has attracted great interests. Motivated by the recent dynamic framework of complex network, we focus on the network of mobile oscillators and study synchronization phenomenon. The local synchronous order parameter of the neighbors of the oscillator is used as the controllable variable to adjust the coupling strength of the oscillator. Hence, it can be seen as a kind of adaptive strategy. By numerical simulation, we find that ES can be observed in the dynamic network of mobile oscillators, accompanying with hysteresis loop, as the coupling strength increases gradually. It is found that the critical value of coupling strength and hysteresis loop width is affected by the natural frequency distribution and the number of neighbors the oscillator owning. It can be deduced that ES will be motivated by increasing the number of oscillators in the network. Meanwhile, our results are feasible to different natural frequency distributions, such as Lorentzian, Gaussian power-law, and Rayleigh distribution, whether it is symmetric or not.  相似文献

We investigate how the geographical structure of a complex network affects its network topology, synchronization and the average spatial length of edges. The geographical structure means that the connecting probability of two nodes is related to the spatial distance of the two nodes. Our simulation results show that the geographical structure changes the network topology. The synchronization tendency is enhanced and the average spatial length of edges is enlarged when the node can randomly connect to the further one. Analytic results support our understanding of the phenomena.  相似文献

We employ a spectral decomposition method to analyze synchronization of a non-identical oscillator network. We study the case that a small parameter mismatch of oscillators is characterized by one parameter and phase synchronization is observed. We derive a linearized equation for each eigenmode of the coupling matrix. The parameter mismatch is reflected on inhomogeneous term in the linearized equation. We find that the oscillation of each mode is essentially characterized only by the eigenvalue of the coupling matrix with a suitable normalization. We refer to this property as spectral universality, because it is observed irrespective of network topology. Numerical results in various network topologies show good agreement with those based on linearized equation. This universality is also observed in a system driven by additive independent Gaussian noise.  相似文献

The synchronization and pattern dynamics of coupled logistic maps on a certain type of complex network, constructed by adding random shortcuts to a regular ring, is investigated. For parameters where an isolated map is fully chaotic, the defect turbulence, which is dominant in the regular network, can be tamed into ordered periodic patterns or synchronized chaotic states when random shortcuts are added, and the patterns formed on the complex network can be grouped into two or three branches depending on the coupling strength.  相似文献

We investigate a drive-response system by considering the impacts of noise on generalized synchronization (GS). It is found that a small amount of noise can turn the system from desynchronization to the GS state in the resonant case no matter how noise is injected into the system. In the non-resonant case, noise with intensity in a certain range is helpful in building GS only when the noise is injected to the driving system. The mechanism behind the observed phenomena is discussed.  相似文献

We investigate how the firing activity and the subsequent phase synchronization of neural networks with smallworld topological connections depend on the probability p of adding-links. Network elements are described by two-dimensional map neurons (2DMNs) in a quiescent original state. Neurons burst for a given coupling strength when the topological randomness p increases, which is absent in a regular-lattice neural network. The bursting activity becomes frequent and synchronization of neurons emerges as topological randomness further increases. The maximal firing frequency and phase synchronization appear at a particular value of p. However, if the randomness p further increases, the firing frequency decreases and synchronization is apparently destroyed.  相似文献

The processes of establishing of generalized chaotic synchronization in a network of mutually coupled continuous-time systems are investigated. The nature of interaction between the network elements in transitioning from synchronous to asynchronous behavior while increasing the communication parameter is studied. A synchronization regime, the nearest neighbors method, and calculations of the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents are used to clarify features of the interaction between network elements and the occurrence of a generalized chaotic.  相似文献

We investigate the onset of chaotic phase synchronization of bursting oscillators in a modular neuronal network of small-world subnetworks. A transition to mutual phase synchronization takes place on the bursting time scale of coupled oscillators, while on the spiking time scale, they behave asynchronously. It is shown that this bursting synchronization transition can be induced not only by the variations of inter- and intra-coupling strengths but also by changing the probability of random links between different subnetworks. We also analyze the effect of external chaotic phase synchronization of bursting behavior in this clustered network by an external time-periodic signal applied to a single neuron. Simulation results demonstrate a frequency locking tongue in the driving parameter plane, where bursting synchronization is maintained, even with the external driving. The width of this synchronization region increases with the signal amplitude and the number of driven neurons but decreases rapidly with the network size. Considering that the synchronization of bursting neurons is thought to play a key role in some pathological conditions, the presented results could have important implications for the role of externally applied driving signal in controlling bursting activity in neuronal ensembles.  相似文献

Neuronal networks in the brain exhibit the modular (clustered) property, i.e., they are composed of certain subnetworks with differential internal and external connectivity. We investigate bursting synchronization in a clustered neuronal network. A transition to mutual-phase synchronization takes place on the bursting time scale of coupled neurons, while on the spiking time scale, they behave asynchronously. This synchronization transition can be induced by the variations of inter- and intra- coupling strengths, as well as the probability of random links between different subnetworks. Considering that some pathological conditions are related with the synchronization of bursting neurons in the brain, we analyze the control of bursting synchronization by using a time-periodic external signal in the clustered neuronal network. Simulation results show a frequency locking tongue in the driving parameter plane, where bursting synchronization is maintained, even in the presence of external driving. Hence, effective synchronization suppression can be realized with the driving parameters outside the frequency locking region.  相似文献

Average synchronization and temporal order characterized by the rate of firing are studied in a spatially extended network system with the coupling time delay, which is locally modelled by a two-dimensional Rulkov map neuron. It is shown that there exists an optimal noise level, where average synchronization and temporal order are maximum irrespective of the coupling time delay. Furthermore, it is found that temporal order is weakened when the coupling time delay appears. However, the coupling time delay has a twofold effect on average synchronization, one associated with its increase, the other with its decrease. This clearly manifests that random perturbations and time delay play a complementary role in synchronization and temporal order.  相似文献

We investigate the synchronous dynamics of Kuramoto oscillators and van der Pol oscillators on Watts-Strogatz type small-world networks. The order parameters to characterize macroscopic synchronization are calculated by numerical integration. We focus on the difference between frequency synchronization and phase synchronization. In both oscillator systems, the critical coupling strength of the phase order is larger than that of the frequency order for the small-world networks. The critical coupling strength for the phase and frequency synchronization diverges as the network structure approaches the regular one. For the Kuramoto oscillators, the behavior can be described by a power-law function and the exponents are obtained for the two synchronizations. The separation of the critical point between the phase and frequency synchronizations is found only for small-world networks in the theoretical models studied.

We study Hopfield neural networks with infinite connectivity using signal-to-noise analysis with a formulation of the dynamics in terms of transition probabilities. We focus our study on models where the strongest effects of the feedback correlations appear. We introduce an analysis of the path probability of one neuron in order to obtain the contribution of all feedback correlations to the dynamics of this neuron. In this way, we obtain a complete theory for dynamics with order parameter equations identical to those obtained with general functional analysis for finite temperature. In the first part of this work, we present our method in the fully connected Little-Hopfield neural network. We obtain, in a simple and direct way, the order parameter equations found by general functional analysis. In the second part, the exposed method is applied to the fully connected Ashkin-Teller neural network. It is shown that the retrieval quality is improved by introducing four-spin couplings. Simulation results support our theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The collective synchronization of a system of coupled logistic maps on random community networks is investigated. It is found that the synchronizability of the community network is affected by two factors when the size of the network and the number of connections are fixed. One is the number of communities denoted by the parameter rn, and the other is the ratio σ of the connection probability p of each pair of nodes within each community to the connection probability q of each pair of nodes among different communities. Theoretical analysis and numerical results indicate that larger rn and smaller σ are the key to the enhancement of network synchronizability. We also testify synchronous properties of the system by analysing the largest Lyapunov exponents of the system.  相似文献

We report on chaos synchronization in both unidirectionally and bidirectionally coupled multiple time delay laser diodes with electro-optical feedback. We derive existence and sufficient stability conditions for the synchronization regimes. We calculate the Lyapunov exponents, information dimension, and Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy for a single and double delay time lasers to demonstrate that multiple time delay laser system can offer higher complexity than a single time delay laser. We demonstrate that in coupled multiple time delay lasers additional feedback(s) can play a stabilizing role. We compare the synchronization quality for closed loop and open loop receiver laser configurations and find better synchronization quality for partially open loop receiver (when the receiver laser has only one feedback loop), than the open loop receiver configuration (when the receiver contains no feedback loops). We also study the effect of the feedback phase on the correlation coefficient between the interacting laser systems. Analytical results are fully supported by numerical simulations.  相似文献

For an oscillating circuit or coupled circuits, damage in electric devices such as inductor, resistance, memristor even capacitor can cause breakdown or collapse of the circuits. These damage could be associated with external attack or aging in electric devices, and then the bifurcation parameters could be deformed from normal values. Resonators or signal generators are often synchronized to produce powerful signal series and this problem could be investigated by using synchronization in network. Complete synchronization could be induced by linear coupling in a two-dimensional network of identical oscillators when the coupling intensity is beyond certain threshold. The collective behavior and synchronization state are much dependent on the bifurcation parameters. Any slight fluctuation in parameter and breakdown in bifurcation parameter can cause transition of synchronization even collapse of synchronization in the network. In this paper,a two-dimensional network composed of the resonators coupled with memristors under nearestneighbor connection is designed, and the network can reach complete synchronization by carefully selecting coupling intensity. The network keeps synchronization after certain transient period, then a bifurcation parameter in a resonator is switched from the previous value and the adjacent resonators(oscillators) are affected in random. It is found that the synchronization area could be invaded greatly in a diffusive way. The damage area size is much dependent on the selection of diffusive period of damage and deformation degree in the parameter. Indeed, the synchronization area could keep intact at largest size under intermediate deformation degree and coupling intensity.  相似文献

The emergence of large-scale connectivity and synchronization are crucial to the structure, function and failure of many complex socio-technical networks. Thus, there is great interest in analyzing phase transitions to large-scale connectivity and to global synchronization, including how to enhance or delay the onset. These phenomena are traditionally studied as second-order phase transitions where, at the critical threshold, the order parameter increases rapidly but continuously. In 2009, an extremely abrupt transition was found for a network growth process where links compete for addition in an attempt to delay percolation. This observation of ‘explosive percolation’ was ultimately revealed to be a continuous transition in the thermodynamic limit, yet with very atypical finite-size scaling, and it started a surge of work on explosive phenomena and their consequences. Many related models are now shown to yield discontinuous percolation transitions and even hybrid transitions. Explosive percolation enables many other features such as multiple giant components, modular structures, discrete scale invariance and non-self-averaging, relating to properties found in many real phenomena such as explosive epidemics, electric breakdowns and the emergence of molecular life. Models of explosive synchronization provide an analytic framework for the dynamics of abrupt transitions and reveal the interplay between the distribution in natural frequencies and the network structure, with applications ranging from epileptic seizures to waking from anesthesia. Here we review the vast literature on explosive phenomena in networked systems and synthesize the fundamental connections between models and survey the application areas. We attempt to classify explosive phenomena based on underlying mechanisms and to provide a coherent overview and perspective for future research to address the many vital questions that remained unanswered.  相似文献
