The structural, electronic and optical properties for fluoro-perovskite NaXF3 (X?=?Ca and Sr) compounds have calculated by WIEN2k code based on full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) approach within density functional theory (DFT). To perform the total energy calculations, exchange-correlation energy/potential functional has been utilized into generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and local density approximation (LDA). Our evaluated results like equilibrium lattice constants, bulk moduli, and their pressure derivatives are in agreement with the available data. The electronic band structure calculation has revealed an indirect band-gap nature of NaCaF3, while NaSrF3 has direct band gap. Total and partial densities of states confirm the degree of localized electrons in different bands. The optical transitions in NaCaF3 and NaSrF3 compounds were identified by assigning corresponding peaks obtained from the dispersion relation for the imaginary part of the dielectric function. The thermodynamic properties were calculated using quasi-harmonic Debye model to account lattice vibrations. In addition, the influence of temperature and pressure effects was analyzed on bulk modulus, lattice constant, heat capacities and Debye temperature.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations of structural, electronic, elastic, and phonon properties of TiRu3 and TiOs3 compounds have been studied using the density functional theory (DFT) within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The basic structural properties such as lattice constants, bulk modulus and pressure derivative of bulk modulus of these compounds were studied and compared with the previous theoretical data. Electronic band structures and partial densities of states for TiRu3 and TiOs3 compounds were computed and analyzed. The electronic band calculations showed that the TiRu3 and TiOs3 compounds have metallic nature. Phonon spectra, their total and projected densities of states for these compounds were computed by using a linear-response method in the framework of the density functional perturbation theory. The specific heat capacities at a constant volume CV and Debye temperature of TiCr3 and TiOs3 compounds were also calculated and discussed.  相似文献

Recently, Cota et al. gave an improved crystal structure of lithium peroxide. For the sake of investigation of the thermal properties for this structure of Li2O2, the Debye model is adopted in our work. This model combines with the ab initio calculations within local density approximation (LDA) using pseudopotentials and a planewave basis in the framework of density functional theory (DFT), and it takes into account the phononic effects within the quasi-harmonic approximation. We find that our calculated lattice constant using this model is in excellent agreement with the data from Cota et al. Based on the first principles study and the Debye model, the thermal properties including the equation of state, the Debye temperature, the heat capacity and the thermal expansion are obtained in the whole pressure range from 0 to 10 GPa and temperature range from 0 to 500 K.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, electronic and thermal properties of M2SbP (M = Ti, Zr and Hf) were studied by means of a pseudo-potential plane-wave method based on the density functional theory within both the local density approximation and the generalised gradient approximation. The optimised zero-pressure geometrical parameters, i.e. the two unit cell lengths (a, c) and the internal coordinate (z), were in good agreement with available experimental and theoretical data. The effect of high pressure, up to 20 GPa, on the lattice constants shows that the contractions along the a-axis were higher than along c-axis. The anisotropic independent elastic constants were calculated using the static finite strain technique. Numerical estimations of the bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, average sound velocity and Debye temperature for ideal polycrystalline M2SbP aggregates were performed in the framework of the Voigt–Reuss–Hill approximation. The calculated band structures show that all studied materials are electrical conductors. Analysis of the atomic site projected densities showed that the bonding is of covalent–ionic nature with the presence of metallic character. The density of states at the Fermi level is dictated by the transition metal d–d bands; the Sb element has little effect. Thermal effects on some macroscopic properties of M2SbP were predicted using the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the lattice vibrations are taken into account. The variations of the volume expansion coefficient, heat capacity and Debye temperature with pressure and temperature in the ranges 0–50 GPa and 0–2000 K were obtained successfully.  相似文献

Using the first-principles full-potential linear muffin-tin orbital method within the local density approximation, we have studied the structural, elastic, thermodynamic, and electronic properties of the ideal-cubic perovskite BiGaO3. It is found that this compound has an indirect band gap. The valence band maximum (VBM) is located at Γ-point, whereas the conduction band minimum (CBM) is located at X-point. The pressure and volume dependences of the energy band gaps have been calculated. The elastic constants at equilibrium are also determined. We derived the bulk and shear moduli, Young’s modulus, and Poisson’s ratio. The thermodynamic properties are predicted through the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the lattice vibrations are taken into account. The variation of the bulk modulus, heat capacities, and Debye temperature with pressure and temperature are successfully obtained.  相似文献

We have investigated the structural, elastic, electronic, optical and thermal properties of c-SiGe2N4 by using the ultrasoft pseudopotential density functional method within the generalized gradient approximation. The calculated structural parameters, including the lattice constant, the internal free parameter, the bulk modulus and its pressure derivative are in agreement with the available data. The independent elastic constants and their pressure dependence, calculated using the static finite strain technique, satisfy the requirement of mechanical stability, indicating that c-SiGe2N4 compound could be stable. We derive the shear modulus, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio and Lamé’s coefficients for ideal polycrystalline c-SiGe2N4 aggregate in the framework of the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximation. We estimate the Debye temperature of this compound from the average sound velocity. Band structure, density of states, Mulliken charge populations and pressure coefficients of energy band gaps are investigated. Furthermore, in order to understand the optical properties of c-SiGe2N4, the dielectric function, refractive index, extinction coefficient, optical reflectivity and electron energy loss are calculated for radiation up to 40 eV. Thermal effects on some macroscopic properties of c-SiGe2N4 are predicted using the quasi-harmonic Debye model in which the lattice vibrations are taken into account. We have obtained successfully the variations of the primitive cell volume, volume expansion coefficient, heat capacities and Debye temperature with pressure and temperature in the ranges of 0–40 GPa and 0–2000 K. For the first time, the numerical estimates of the elastic constants and related parameters, and the thermal properties are performed for c-SiGe2N4.  相似文献

Ab-initio calculations of thermal properties of rutile (TiO2) have been performed by using the projector augmented-wave (PAW) method within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). Both pressure- and temperature-dependent thermodynamic properties such as the bulk modulus, thermal expansion, thermal expansion coefficient, heat capacity at constant volume and constant pressure were calculated using two different models based on the quasiharmonic approximation (QHA): the Debye–Slater and Debye–Grüneisen model with Dugdale–MacDonald (DM) approximation. Also, the empirical energy corrections were applied to the results to correct the systematic errors introduced by the functional. It is found that the Debye–Grüneisen model provides more accurate estimates than the Debye-Slater models, especially after empirical energy correction.  相似文献

The effect of high pressure, up to 40 GPa, on the lattice constants shows that the contractions along the c-axis were higher than those along the a-axis. The elastic constants Cij and elastic wave velocities are calculated for monocrystal Nb2SiC. Numerical estimations of the bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, average sound velocity and Debye temperature for ideal polycrystalline Nb2SiC aggregates are performed in the framework of the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximation. The band structure shows that Nb2SiC is an electrical conductor. The analysis of the atomic site projected densities and the charge density distribution shows that the bonding is of covalent-ionic nature with the presence of metallic character. We have investigated the structural, elastic and electronic properties of the anti-perovskite TlNCa3 using ab initio calculations within the generalized gradient approximation and the local density approximation for the exchange–correlation potential. The lattice constant, bulk modulus, elastic constants and their pressure dependence, energy band structures, density of states and charge density distribution are calculated and analyzed in comparison with the available experimental and theoretical data. The bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, Lamé’s coefficients, average sound velocity and Debye temperature are numerically estimated for ideal polycrystalline TlNCa3 aggregates in the framework of the Voigt–Reuss–Hill approximation. This is the first theoretical prediction of the elastic constants and their related properties for TlNCa3 that requires experimental confirmation.  相似文献

The elastic, electronic and thermodynamic properties of fluoro-perovskite KZnF3 have been calculated using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method. The exchange-correlation potential is treated with the generalized gradient approximation of Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (GGA-PBE). Also, we have used the Engel and Vosko GGA formalism (GGA-EV) to improve the electronic band structure calculations. The calculated structural properties are in good agreement with available experimental and theoretical data. The elastic constants C ij are calculated using the total energy variation with strain technique. The shear modulus, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio and the Lamé coefficients for polycrystalline KZnF3 aggregates are estimated in the framework of the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximations. The ductility behavior of this compound is interpreted via the calculated elastic constants C ij . Electronic and bonding properties are discussed from the calculations of band structure, density of states and electron charge density. The thermodynamic properties are predicted through the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the lattice vibrations are taken into account. The variation of bulk modulus, lattice constant, heat capacities and the Debye temperature with pressure and temperature are successfully obtained.  相似文献

The structural and lattice dynamical properties of TmX (X=As, P) compounds were investigated using normconserving pseudopotentials within the generalized gradient approximation correction (GGA) of Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof (PBE) in the framework of density functional theory (DFT). The structural parameters (a0, B, B′, Ecoh) were determined through total energy and interatomic force minimization and the overall agreement was found to be good. The pressure dependence of the ratios of normalized lattice parameters a/a0, normalized volume V/V0, bulk modulus, elastic constants, Zener anisotropy factor, Poisson's ratio, Young's modulus, shear modulus, and the brittleness were presented and discussed. The thermodynamical properties such as thermal expansion, heat capacity, Debye temperature, and Grüneisen parameter were calculated employing the quasi-harmonic Debye model at different temperatures (0–1000 K) and pressures (0–30 GPa). The phonon dispersion curves and corresponding density of states (DOS) of TmX (X=As, P) were also obtained, and the salient results were interpreted.  相似文献

The electronic structures, optical and thermodynamic properties of orthorhombic UCoGe are investigated using the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) formalism in the framework of the density functional theory (DFT). The obtained lattice parameters, bulk modulus B and its pressure derivative B′ of UCoGe are in agreement with the available experimental data. From the analysis of band structure and density of states coming out from our calculations, we can see that UCoGe in the ground state belongs to a typical metallic alloy. Various optical properties, including the dielectric function and absorption coefficient as functions of the photon energy are calculated. The thermodynamic properties of UCoGe are predicted using the quasi-harmonic Debye model for the first time. The Debye temperature, the Grüneisen parameter, the heat capacity and the thermal expansion coefficient are obtained at high pressures and temperatures.  相似文献

Abstract

The nodal-line semimetals are new and very promising materials for technological applications. To understand their structural, mechanical, lattice dynamical and thermal properties in detail, we have investigated theoretical study of ZrXY (X = Si,Ge; Y = S,Se) using Density Functional Theory for the first time. Obtained lattice parameters are in excellent agreement with previous experimental data. These nodal-line semimetals obey the mechanical stability conditions for tetragonal structure. We obtain Bulk modulus, Shear modulus, Poisson’s ratio, Pugh ratio, sound velocities and thermal conductivity using elastic constant. All the materials behave in brittle manner. Poisson’s ratio data and Bader charge analysis results indicate that the ionic bonding characters are dominant. Next, the lattice dynamical properties are calculated. Phonon density of states shows that nodal-line semimetals ZrXY are also dynamically stable in the tetragonal structure. Raman and IR active phonon modes are determined. Highest optical mode at gamma point corresponds to A2u (IR active) and Eg (Raman active) modes for ZrXSe and ZrXS, respectively. Based on phonon density of states, thermal properties such as Helmholtz free energy, entropy, heat capacity at constant volume and Debye temperature are also presented and discussed.  相似文献

Structural, electronic and thermal properties of Zn1?x Mg x S ternary alloys are studied by using the full potential-linearized augmented plane wave method (FP-LAPW) within the density functional theory (DFT). The Wu-Cohen generalized gradient approximation (WC-GGA) is used in this approach for the exchangecorrelation potential. Moreover, the modified Becke-Johnson approximation (mBJ) is adopted for band structure calculations. The dependence of the lattice constant, bulk modulus and band gap on the composition x showed that the first exhibits a small deviation from the Vegard’s law, whereas, a marginal deviation of the second from linear concentration dependence (LCD). The bowing of the fundamental gap versus composition predicted by our calculations agrees well with the available theoretical data. The microscopic origins of the gap bowing are explained by using the approach of Zunger and co-workers. Thermal effects on some macroscopic properties of Zn1?x Mg x S alloys are also investigated using the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the phononic effects are considered. As, this is the first quantitative theoretical prediction of the thermal properties of Zn1?x Mg x S alloys, no other calculated results and furthermore no experimental studies are available for comparison.  相似文献

Using pseudo-potential plane-wave method based on the density functional theory in conjunction with the generalized gradient approximation, structural parameters, electronic structures, elastic stiffness and thermal properties of M2PC, with M=V, Nb, Ta, were studied. The optimized zero pressure geometrical parameters are in good agreement with the available results. Pressure effect, up to 20 GPa, on the lattice parameters was investigated. Electronic properties are studied throughout the calculation of densities of states and band structures. The elastic constants and their pressure dependence were predicted using the static finite strain technique. We performed numerical estimations of the bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio and average sound velocity for ideal polycrystalline M2PC aggregates in framework of the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximation. We estimated the Debye temperature and the theoretical minimum thermal conductivity of M2PC.  相似文献

The structural, elastic and thermal properties of four transition metal monocarbides ScC, YC (group III), VC and NbC (group V) have been investigated using full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method within generalized gradient approximation (GGA) both at ambient and high pressure. We predict a B1 to B2 structural phase transition at 127.8 and 80.4 GPa for ScC and YC along with the volume collapse percentage of 7.6 and 8.4%, respectively. No phase transition is observed in case of VC and NbC up to pressure 400 and 360 GPa, respectively. The ground state properties such as equilibrium lattice constant (a0), bulk modulus (B) and its pressure derivative (B′) are determined and compared with available data. We have computed the elastic moduli and Debye temperature and report their variation as a function of pressure.  相似文献

The electronic and thermodynamic properties of B2-FeSi have been investigated using the first-principles method based on the plane-wave basis set. The calculated equilibrium lattice constant is in good agreement with available experimental and theoretical data. Our results have shown that B2-FeSi was a narrow gap semiconductor of above 0.055 eV and exhibited metallic characteristics. The density of states (DOS) can also describe orbital mixing. Using the quasi-harmonic Debye model, the thermodynamic properties of B2-FeSi have been analyzed. Variations of the Debye temperature ΘD, thermal expansion α, heat capacity Cv, entropy S and the Grüneisen parameter γ on temperature T and pressure P were obtained successfully in the ranges of 0-2400 K and 0-140 GPa.  相似文献

First-principles calculations, by means of the full-potential augmented plane wave method using the LSDA+U approach (local spin density approximation with Hubbard-U corrections), have been carried out for the electronic structure of the Al0.75Er0.25N. The LSDA+U method is applied to the rare-earth 4? states. We have investigated the electronic and magnetic properties. The Al0.75Er0.25N is shown to be a semiconductor, where the filled ? states are located in the valence bands and the empty ones above the conduction band edge. The magnetic interaction of the rare-earth ion with the host states at the valence and conduction band edges has been investigated and discussed.  相似文献

The structural parameters with stability upon Si incorporation and elastic, electronic, thermodynamic and optical properties of Ti3Al1−xSixC2 (0≤x≤1) are investigated systematically by the plane wave pseudopotential method based on the density functional theory (DFT). The increase of some elastic parameters with increasing Si-content renders the alloys to possess higher compressive and tensile strength. The Vickers hardness value obtained with the help of Mulliken population analysis increases as x is increased from 0 to 1. The solid solutions considered are all metallic with valence and conduction bands, which have a mainly Ti 3d character, crossing the Fermi level. The temperature and pressure dependences of bulk modulus, normalized volume, specific heats, thermal expansion coefficient, and Debye temperature are all obtained through the quasi-harmonic Debye model with phononic effects for T=0−1000 K and P=0−50 GPa. The obtained results are compared with other results available. Further an analysis of optical functions for two polarization vectors reveals that the reflectivity is high in the visible–ultraviolet region up to ∼10.5 eV region showing promise as a good coating material.  相似文献
