Ni-Co/SiC nanocomposite coatings with various contents of SiC nano-particulates were prepared by electrodeposition in a Ni-Co plating bath containing SiC nano-particulates to be co-deposited. The influences of the nanoparticulates concentration, current density, stirring rate and temperature of the plating bath on the composition of the coatings were investigated. The shape and size of the SiC nano-particulates were observed and determined using a transmission electron microscope. The polarization behavior of the composite plating bath was examined on a PAR-273A potentiostat/galvanostat device. The wear behavior of the Ni-Co/SiC nanocomposite coatings was evaluated on a ball-on-disk UMT-2MT test rig. The worn surface morphologies of the Ni-Co/SiC nanocomposite coatings were observed using a scanning electron microscope. The corrosion behavior of the nanocomposite coatings was evaluated by charting the Tafel curves of the solution of 0.5 mol L−1 NaCl at room temperature. It was found that the cathodic polarization potential of the composite electrolyte increased with increasing SiC concentration in the plating bath. The microhardness and wear and corrosion resistance of the nanocomposite coatings also increased with increasing content of the nano-SiC in the plating bath, and the morphologies of the nanocomposite coatings varied with varying SiC concentration in the plating bath as well. Moreover, the co-deposited SiC nano-particulates were uniformly distributed in the Ni-Co matrix and contributed to greatly increase the microhardness and wear resistance of the Ni-Co alloy coating.  相似文献

Ni-Co/nano TiO2 (Ni-Co-TiO2) composite coatings were prepared under pulse current and pulse reverse current methods using acetate bath. The microstructure and corrosion resistance of the coatings were characterized by means of XRD, SEM and EIS. Both the Ni-Co alloy and composite coatings exhibited single phase of Ni matrix with face centered cubic (fcc) crystal structure. The crystal orientation of the Ni-Co-TiO2 composite coating was transformed from crystal face (2 0 0) to (1 1 1) compared with Ni-Co alloy coatings. The results showed that the microstructure and performances of the coatings were greatly affected by TiO2 content on the deposits prepared by PC and PRC methods. The microhardness and corrosion resistance were enhanced in the optimum percentage of TiO2 composite coatings. The PRC composite coatings were exhibited from compact surface, higher microhardness and good corrosion resistance compared with that of the PC composite coating.  相似文献

Surface interactions of alkylimidazolium ionic liquids (ILs) with aluminium alloy Al 2011 have been studied by immersion tests in seven neat ILs [1-n-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium X (X = BF4; n = 2 (IL1), 6 (IL2), 8 (IL3). X = CF3SO3; n = 2 (IL4). X = (4-CH3C6H4SO3); n = 2 (IL5). X = PF6; n = 6 (IL6)] and 1-butyl-3-methylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (IL7)]. Immersion tests for Al 2011 have also been carried out in 1 wt.% and 5 wt.% solutions of 1-ethyl,3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (IL1) in water. No corrosion of Al 2011 by neat ILs is observed. The highest corrosion rate for Al 2011 in water is observed in the presence of a 5 wt.% IL1 due to hydrolysis of the anion with hydrogen evolution and formation of aluminium fluoride. Erosion-corrosion processes have been studied for three aluminium alloys (Al 2011, Al 6061 and Al 7075) in a 90 wt.% IL1 solution in water in the presence of α-alumina particles. The erosion-corrosion rates are around 0.2 mm/year or lower, and increase with increasing copper content to give a corrosion resistance order of Al 6061 > Al 7075 > Al 2011. Results are discussed on the basis of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) determinations.  相似文献

The Al-Mn alloy coatings were electrodeposited on AZ31B Mg alloy in AlCl3-NaCl-KCl-MnCl2 molten salts at 170 °C aiming to improve the corrosion resistance. However, in order to prevent AZ31B Mg alloy from corrosion during electrodeposition in molten salts and to ensure excellent adhesion of coatings to the substrate, AZ31B Mg alloy should be pre-plated with a thin zinc layer as intermediate layer. Then the microstructure, composition and phase constituents of the coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was indicated that, by adjusting the MnCl2 content in the molten salts from 0.5 wt% to 2 wt%, the Mn content in the alloy coating was increased and the phase constituents were changed from f.c.c Al-Mn solid solution to amorphous phase. The corrosion resistance of the coatings was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization measurements in 3.5% NaCl solution. It was confirmed that the Al-Mn alloy coatings exhibited good corrosion resistance with a chear passive region and significantly reduced corrosion current density at anodic potentiodynamic polarization. The corrosion resistance of the alloy coatings was also related with the microstructure and Mn content of the coatings.  相似文献

The surfaces of fly ash (FA) particles were modified by surfactant, sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and used in fabrication of composite films with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Both unmodified fly ash (FA) and modified fly ash (SLS-FA) samples were examined using a range of analytical tools including X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The distribution patterns of SLS-FA particles were shifted to the higher regions compared to FA by adding 1.2-4.2 μm in the ranges between 2 and 25 μm, whereas the modification process reduced the size of the particles over 25 μm due to grinding during the activation process. The increased 1.2-4.2 μm in average can be considered the thickness of the surfactant on the SLS-FA surface. On the oxides based chemical analysis by XRF, the compositions were almost unchanged. SEM and TEM were visualised the irregular sizes morphology mostly spherical of the particles, although it is impossible to capture the images of exactly same particles in modified and unmodified forms. The composite films reinforced with SLS-FA showed 33% higher strength than those of FA filled films. The enhancement of tensile strength attributed from the level of physical bonding between SLS-FA and PVA surfaces.  相似文献

Corrosion protection of Mg/Al alloys by thermal sprayed aluminium coatings   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The protective features of thermal sprayed Al-coatings applied on AZ31, AZ80 and AZ91D magnesium/aluminium alloys were evaluated in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution by electrochemical and gravimetric measurements. The changes in the morphology and corrosion behaviour of the Al-coatings induced by a cold-pressing post-treatment were also examined. The specimens were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis and low-angle X-ray diffraction. The as-sprayed Al-coatings revealed a high degree of porosity and poor corrosion protection, which resulted in galvanic acceleration of the corrosion of the magnesium substrates. The application of a cold-pressing post-treatment produced more compact Al-coatings with better bonding at the substrate/coating interface and higher corrosion resistance regardless of the nature of the magnesium alloy.  相似文献

The anodic behavior, corrosion resistance and protective ability of Zn and alloyed Zn-Co (∼3 wt.%) nanocomposite coatings were investigated in a model corrosion medium of 5% NaCl solution. The metallic matrix of the layers incorporates core-shell nano-sized stabilized polymeric micelles (SPMs) obtained from poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(propylene oxide)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) block co-polymers. The protective properties of the composite coatings were evaluated using potentiodynamic polarization technique, polarization resistance measurements and powder X-ray diffraction. The sizes and distribution of the stabilized polymeric micelles in the starting electrolytes used as well as in the metal matrices of the layers were investigated using scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The results obtained are compared to those of electrodeposited Zn and Zn-Co (∼3 wt.%) alloy coatings at identical conditions and demonstrate the enhanced protective characteristics of the Zn nanocomposites during the investigating period. The influence of the SPMs on the corrosion resistance of the nanocomposite layers is commented and discussed.  相似文献

Silicon carbide particles reinforced nickel-cobalt-phosphorus matrix composite coatings were prepared by two-step electroless plating process (pre-treatment of sensitizing and subsequent plating) for the application to lightweight microwave absorbers, which were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and vector network analyzer, respectively. The results show that Ni-Co-P deposits are uniform and mixture crystalline of α-Co and Ni3P and exhibit low-specific saturation magnetization and low coercivity. Due to the conductive and ferromagnetic behavior of the Ni-Co thin films, high dielectric constant and magnetic loss can be obtained in the microwave frequencies. The maximum microwave loss of the composite powder less than −32 dB was found at the frequency of 6.30 GHz with a thickness of 2.5 mm when the initial atomic ratio of Ni-Co in the plating bath is 1.5.  相似文献

Metal matrix composites reinforced with nano-sized particles have attracted scientific and technological interest due to the enhanced properties exhibited by these coatings. Ni-SiC composites have gained widespread application for the protection of friction parts in the automobile industry. The influence of variables like SiC content, current density and stirring speed on microhardness of nano-composite coatings has been studied. The improved microhardness was associated with the reduction in crystallite size determined by X-ray diffraction studies. The influence of incorporation of nano-SiC in hardened Ni-Co alloy matrix was also studied. It was observed that for 28 wt.% Co content in the matrix the microhardness was higher compared to 70 wt.% for a given nano-SiC content. This was associated to the crystal phase of Ni-28Co-SiC being fcc compared to hcp phase exhibited by Ni-70Co-SiC. The wear resistance of pure Ni, Co and nano-composite coatings was studied using pin-on-disc wear tester under dry sliding condition. The volumetric wear loss indicated that, the wear resistance of Ni-SiC nano-composite is better than that of pure nickel deposit. The wear resistance of Ni-Co composites was observed to be superior to Ni composite. The wear behaviour of Ni and Ni-28Co composite was in accordance with the Archard's law. However, the superior wear characteristic exhibited by Ni-70Co-SiC composite followed the reverse Archard's behaviour.  相似文献

In this study, Ni-P-CNT composite coating was successfully deposited on the surface of copper by electroless plating. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the coatings. The wear behavior of the coatings was investigated using a pin-on-disk test rig and subsequently friction coefficient data were reported. The corrosion behavior of the Ni-P and Ni-P-CNT coated specimen were evaluated through polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 3.5 wt.% NaCl aqueous solution at the room temperature. The results indicated that the incorporation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the coating improved both tribological behavior and corrosion resistance. These improvements have been attributed to superior mechanical properties, unique topological structure and high chemical stability of nanotubes.  相似文献

To increase the SiC content in Cr-based coatings, Cr-Al2O3/SiC composite coatings were plated in Cr(VI) baths which contained Al2O3-coated SiC powders. The Al2O3-coated SiC composite particles were synthesized by calcining the precursor prepared by heterogeneous deposition method. The transmission electron microscopy analysis of the particles showed that the nano-SiC particle was packaged by alumina. The zeta potential of the particles collected from the bath was up to +23 mV, a favorable condition for the co-deposition of the particles and chromium. Pulse current was used during the electrodeposition. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) indicated that the coating was compact and combined well with the substrate. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis of Cr-Al2O3/SiC coatings demonstrated that the concentration of SiC in the coating reached about 2.5 wt.%. The corrosion behavior of the composite coating was studied by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. The data obtained suggested that the Al2O3/SiC particles significantly enhanced the corrosion resistance of the composite coating in 0.05 M HCl solution.  相似文献

Laser surface alloying of an electroless plating Ni–P coatings on an Al-356 aluminium alloy was carried out using a 1-kW pulsed Nd:YAG laser. The microstructure, chemical composition and phase identification of the alloyed layer were determined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD), respectively. It was shown that laser surface treatment produced a relatively smooth, crack-free and hard surface layer. The hardness of the surface significantly increased due to the formation of the uniformly distributed fine Ni–Al intermetallic phases. The corrosion behaviour of the surface alloyed specimens in 3.5% NaCl solution at 23 °C was also determined by electrochemical techniques. The laser-alloyed surface showed an improved corrosion and pitting potential compared to the substrate as well as the plated Ni–P coating.  相似文献

The Zn and Zn-ZrO2 composite coatings were produced by electrodeposition technique using sulphate bath. ZrO2 particles were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The ZrO2 particle size distribution in the plating bath and Zeta potential and the ZrO2 were measured using dynamic light scattering technique (DLS). The corrosion resistance properties of Zn and Zn-ZrO2 composite coatings were compared by examining the experimental data acquired through polarization, open circuit potential (OCP) and Tafel measurements. The corrosion environment was 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. The variation of amount of ZrO2 in the solution on their % wt inclusion in the composite and on composite microhardness was investigated. XRD patterns were recorded for Zn and Zn-ZrO2 coatings to compare their grain size. The SEM images of coatings before and after corrosion under chemical and electrochemical conditions were presented. The results were analyzed to establish the superiority of Zn-ZrO2 composite over Zn coating.  相似文献

Anodic layer growth on 2024 aluminium alloy at 70 °C, under 40 V, during 60 min, in 50 g L−1 di-sodium tetraborate solution containing di-sodium molybdate from 0.1 to 0.5 M (pH 10) is examined. Anodising behaviours strongly depend on additive concentration. Development of anodic films is favoured with weak molybdate additions (<0.3-0.4 M). The film thicknesses increase and the porosity of anodic layers decreases. Molybdenum (+VI), detected by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, is present in the anodic films and the Mo incorporation, studied by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis, increases with molybdate concentration. However, for high molybdate concentrations (>0.4 M), anodising behaviour becomes complex with the formation of a blue molybdenum oxide at the cathode. The growth of aluminium oxide is hindered. As the anodic layers are thinner, the Mo(+VI) incorporation significantly decreases. These two configurations implicate different corrosion performances in 5% sodium chloride solution at 35 °C. As the alkaline anodic layer formed with 0.3 M molybdate species is the thickest and the Mo incorporation is the more pronounced, its corrosion resistance is the highest. The effect of morphology and composition of anodic films on pitting corrosion is also discussed.  相似文献

Ni-Co/nano-Al2O3 (Ni-Co/Al2O3) composite coatings were prepared under pulse reversal current (PRC) and direct current (dc) methods respectively. The microstructure of coatings was characterized by means of XRD, SEM and TEM. Both the Ni-Co alloy and composite coatings exhibit single phase of Ni matrix with face-centered cubic (fcc) crystal structure, and the crystal orientation of the Ni-Co/Al2O3 composite coating was transformed from crystal face (2 0 0) to (1 1 1) compared with alloy coatings. The hardness, anti-wear property and macro-residual stress were also investigated. The results showed that the microstructure and performance of the coatings were greatly affected by Al2O3 content and the electrodeposition methods. With the increasing of Al2O3 content, the hardness and wear resistance of the composite coatings enhanced. The PRC composite coatings exhibited compact surface, high hardness, better wear resistance and lower macro-residual stress compared with that of the dc composite coatings.  相似文献

The influence of the SiCp proportion and the matrix concentration of four aluminium metal matrix composites (A360/SiC/10p, A360/SiC/20p, A380/SiC/10p, A380/SiC/20p) modified by lanthanum-based conversion or electrolysis coating was evaluated in neutral salt fog according to ASTM B 117. Lanthanum-based conversion coatings were obtained by immersion in 50 °C solution of La(III) salt and lanthanum electrolysis treatments were performed in ethylene glycol mono-butyl ether solution. These treatments preferentially covered cathodic areas such as intermetallic compounds, Si eutectic and SiCp. The kinetic of the corrosion process was studied on the basis of gravimetric tests. Both coating microstructure and nature of corrosion products were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS) and low angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) before and after accelerated testing to determine the influence of microstructural changes on corrosion behaviour during exposure to the corrosive environment. The corrosion process was more influenced by the concentration of alloy elements in the matrix than by the proportion of SiCp reinforcement. Both conversion and electrolysis surface treatments improved the behaviour to salt fog corrosion in comparison with original composites without treatment. Additionally, electrolysis provided a higher degree of protection than the conversion treatment because the coating was more extensive.  相似文献

The work addresses the influence of cementation and electrodeposition of copper coatings on the corrosion resistance of AISI 304 stainless steel immersed in 30 wt.% H2SO4 at temperatures of 25 and 50 °C. Corrosion process was evaluated by gravimetric tests, DC measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The specimen surfaces were analysed by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction. The corrosion performance of AISI 304 stainless steel in sulphuric acid solution was greatly improved by copper coatings. The amount of copper deposited by the cementation process was sufficient to protect the stainless steel of corrosion. A greater amount of copper obtained by electrodeposition treatments does not supply further improvement in the corrosion behaviour. The improved corrosion resistance is related to copper dissolution at the initial stages of immersion tests and the presence of Cu2+ in the solution, which makes the medium more oxidizing, increasing the stability of the passive layer. In addition, the presence of copper at the surface reduces the overpotential of cathodic reaction, enabling the transition from an active region to the passive one.  相似文献

Decorative and protective Ni-P amorphous coatings were electroplated onto NdFeB permanent magnet from an ortho-phosphorous acid contained bath. The influences of the main electroplating technological parameters including current density, bath pH, bath temperature and H3PO3 on the structure and chemical composition of Ni-P coatings were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques in conjunction with X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning transmission electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDX). The optimized amorphous Ni-P coated NdFeB can stand for ca. 180 h against neutral 3.0 wt.% NaCl salt spray without any pitting corrosion. Meanwhile, the results also showed that large phosphorous content is the precondition for Ni-P coatings to possess the amorphous structure, but too much high phosphorous content can damage the amorphous structure due to the separation of superfluous P from Ni2P/Ni3P and the resultant formation of multi-phase coatings (such as Ni2P-P).  相似文献

The molybdenum/lanthanum-based (Mo/La) composite conversion coating on AZ31 magnesium alloy was investigated and the corrosion resistance was evaluated as well. The morphology, composition and corrosion resistance of the coating were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and potentiodynamic polarization analysis, respectively. The results revealed that the conversion coating consisted of spherical nodular particles, which was mainly composed of Mo, La, O and Mg. After conversion treatment the corrosion potential shifts about 500 mV positively, and the corrosion current density decreases two orders of magnitude. The corrosion resistance of AZ31 alloy is remarkably improved by Mo/La composite conversion coating.  相似文献

Chemical nature of phytic acid conversion coating on AZ61 magnesium alloy   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
Phytic acid (PA) conversion coating on AZ61 magnesium alloy was prepared by the method of deposition. The influences of pH, time and PA concentration on the formation process, microstructure and properties of the conversion coating were investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the microstructure. The chemical nature of conversion coating was investigated by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques. The corrosion resistance was examined by means of potentiodynamic polarization method. The adhesive ability was tested by score experiments. The results showed that the growth and microstructure of the conversion coatings were all obviously affected by pH, time and PA concentration. In 0.5 mg/ml PA solution with a pH of 5, an optimization conversion coating formed after 20 min immersion time by deposition of PA on AZ61 magnesium alloy surface through chelating with Al3+. It made the corrosion potential Ecorr of sample shifted positively about 171 mV than that of the untreated sample, and the adhesive ability reached to Grade 1 (in accordance with GB/T 9286).  相似文献
