Let 1≤N<M with N and M coprime and square-free. Through classical analytic methods we estimate the first moment of central L-values $L(\frac{1}{2},f\times g)$ where $f\in\mathcal{S}^{*}_{k}(N)$ runs over primitive holomorphic forms of level N and trivial nebentypus and g is a given form of level M. As a result, we recover the bound $L(\frac{1}{2},f\times g) \ll_{\varepsilon}(N + \sqrt{M}) N^{\varepsilon}M^{\varepsilon}$ when g is dihedral. The first moment method also applies to the special derivative $L'(\frac{1}{2},f\times g)$ under the assumption that it is non-negative for all $f\in\mathcal{S}^{*}_{k}(N)$ .  相似文献

Let S j : (Ω, P) → S 1 ? ? be an i.i.d. sequence of Steinhaus random variables, i.e. variables which are uniformly distributed on the circle S 1. We determine the best constants a p in the Khintchine-type inequality $${a_p}{\left\| x \right\|_2} \leqslant {\left( {{\text{E}}{{\left| {\sum\limits_{j = 1}^n {{x_j}{S_j}} } \right|}^p}} \right)^{1/p}} \leqslant {\left\| x \right\|_2};{\text{ }}x = ({x_j})_{j = 1}^n \in {{\Bbb C}^n}$$ for 0 < p < 1, verifying a conjecture of U. Haagerup that $${a_p} = \min \left( {\Gamma {{\left( {\frac{p}{2} + 1} \right)}^{1/p}},\sqrt 2 {{\left( {{{\Gamma \left( {\frac{{p + 1}}{2}} \right)} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\Gamma \left( {\frac{{p + 1}}{2}} \right)} {\left[ {\Gamma \left( {\frac{p}{2} + 1} \right)\sqrt \pi } \right]}}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {\left[ {\Gamma \left( {\frac{p}{2} + 1} \right)\sqrt \pi } \right]}}} \right)}^{1/p}}} \right)$$ . Both expressions are equal for p = p 0 }~ 0.4756. For p ≥ 1 the best constants a p have been known for some time. The result implies for a norm 1 sequence x ∈ ? n , ‖x2 = 1, that $${\text{E}}\ln \left| {\frac{{{S_1} + {S_2}}}{{\sqrt 2 }}} \right| \leqslant {\text{E}}\ln \left| {\sum\limits_{j = 1}^n {{x_j}{S_j}} } \right|$$ , answering a question of A. We investigate the question of the regularized sums of part of the eigenvalues zn (lying along a direction) of a Sturm-Liouville operator. The first regularized sum is $$\sum\nolimits_{n = 1}^\infty {(z_n - n - \frac{{c_1 }}{n} + \frac{2}{\pi } \cdot z_n arctg \frac{1}{{z_n }} - \frac{2}{\pi }) = \frac{{B_2 }}{2} - c_1 \cdot \gamma + \int_1^\infty {\left[ {R(z) - \frac{{l_0 }}{{\sqrt z }} - \frac{{l_1 }}{z} - \frac{{l_2 }}{{z\sqrt z }}} \right]} } \sqrt z dz,$$ where the zn are eigenvalues lying along the positive semi-axis, z n 2 n, $$l_0 = \frac{\pi }{2}, l_1 = - \frac{1}{2}, l_2 = - \frac{1}{4}\int_0^\pi {q(x) dx,} c_1 = - \frac{2}{\pi }l_2 ,$$ , B2 is a Bernoulli number, γ is Euler's constant, and \(R(z)\) is the trace of the resolvent of a Sturm-Liouville operator.  相似文献

Suppose that $${g\left( n \right)}$$ is an additive real-valued function, W(N) = 4+ $$\mathop {\min }\limits_\lambda $$ ( λ2 + $$\sum\limits_{p < N} {\frac{1}{2}} $$ min (1, ( g(p) - λlog p)2), E(N) = 4+1 $$\sum\limits_{\mathop {p < N,}\limits_{g(p) \ne 0} } {\frac{1}{p}.} $$ In this paper, we prove the existence of constants C1, C2 such that the following inequalities hold: $\mathop {\sup }\limits_a \geqslant \left| {\left\{ {n, m, k: m, k \in \mathbb{Z},n \in \mathbb{N},n + m^2 + k^2 } \right.} \right. = \left. {\left. {N,{\text{ }}g(n) \in [a,a + 1)} \right\}} \right| \leqslant \frac{{C_1 N}}{{\sqrt {W\left( N \right)} }},$ $\mathop {\sup }\limits_a \geqslant \left| {\left\{ {n, m, k: m, k \in \mathbb{Z},n \in \mathbb{N},n + m^2 + k^2 } \right.} \right. = \left. {\left. {N,{\text{ }}g(n) = a} \right\}} \right| \leqslant \frac{{C_2 N}}{{\sqrt {E\left( N \right)} }},$ . The obtained estimates are order-sharp.  相似文献

The preservation of stability under the convolution is shown to be related with the zero set of the Fourier transform of inducing stable function. For example, let φ be in the class Λ0 of all stable functions ψ such that $\widehat\psi \left( 0 \right) \ne 0{\text{ and }}\widehat\psi$ as well as $E_\psi : = \sum {\left| {\widehat\psi \left( {w + 2{\pi }k} \right)} \right|} ^2$ is continuous. Then Λ0 is preserved under the convolution by φ if and only if the zero set $Z\left( {\widehat\varphi } \right)$ is contained in 2πZ\{0}. The condition can be transformed into the zero set of the inducing mask trigonometric polynomial in the class Λ# of compactly supported refinable functions in Λ0. For example, our result shows that such φ must have its mask of the form $$m_\varphi \left( w \right) = \left( {\frac{{1 + {\text{e}}^{{\text{ - i2}}w} }}{2}} \right)^N \left( {\frac{{1 + {\text{e}}^{{\text{ - i}}w} + {\text{e}}^{{\text{ - i2}}w} }}{3}} \right)^M Q\left( w \right),$$ where integers N≥1 and M≥0, and Q(w) has no real zeros.  相似文献

We present various inequalities for the harmonic numbers defined by ${H_n=1+1/2 +\ldots +1/n\,(n\in{\bf N})}$ . One of our results states that we have for all integers n ???2: $$\alpha \, \frac{\log(\log{n}+\gamma)}{n^2} \leq H_n^{1/n} -H_{n+1}^{1/(n+1)} < \beta \, \frac{\log(\log{n}+\gamma)}{n^2}$$ with the best possible constant factors $$\alpha= \frac{6 \sqrt{6}-2 \sqrt[3]{396}}{3 \log(\log{2}+\gamma)}=0.0140\ldots \quad\mbox{and} \quad\beta=1.$$ Here, ?? denotes Euler??s constant.  相似文献

Let fC[?1, 1]. Let the approximation rate of Lagrange interpolation polynomial of f based on the nodes $ \left\{ {\cos \frac{{2k - 1}} {{2n}}\pi } \right\} \cup \{ - 1,1\} $ be Δ n + 2(f, x). In this paper we study the estimate of Δ n + 2(f,x), that keeps the interpolation property. As a result we prove that $$ \Delta _{n + 2} (f,x) = \mathcal{O}(1)\left\{ {\omega \left( {f,\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {n}} \right)\left| {T_n (x)} \right|\ln (n + 1) + \omega \left( {f,\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {n}\left| {T_n (x)} \right|} \right)} \right\}, $$ where T n (x) = cos (n arccos x) is the Chebeyshev polynomial of first kind. Also, if fC r [?1, 1] with r ≧ 1, then $$ \Delta _{n + 2} (f,x) = \mathcal{O}(1)\left\{ {\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {{n^r }}\left| {T_n (x)} \right|\omega \left( {f^{(r)} ,\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {n}} \right)\left( {\left( {\sqrt {1 - x^2 } + \frac{1} {n}} \right)^{r - 1} \ln (n + 1) + 1} \right)} \right\}. $$   相似文献

Let {X, Xn ; n ≥ 0} be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables, taking values in a separable Banach space (B,||·||) with topological dual B* . Considering the geometrically weighted series ξ(β) =∑∞n=0βnXn for 0 β 1, and a sequence of positive constants {h(n), n ≥ 1}, which is monotonically approaching infinity and not asymptotically equivalent to log log n, a limit result for(1-β2)1/2||ξ(β)||/(2h(1/(1-β2)))1/2 is achieved.  相似文献

Let ${\mathfrak{a}}$ be an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring R and M a finitely generated R-module. It is shown that ${{\rm Ann}_R(H_{\mathfrak{a}}^{{\rm dim} M}(M))= {\rm Ann}_R(M/T_R(\mathfrak{a}, M))}$ , where ${T_R(\mathfrak{a}, M)}$ is the largest submodule of M such that ${{\rm cd}(\mathfrak{a}, T_R(\mathfrak{a}, M)) < {\rm cd}(\mathfrak{a}, M)}$ . Several applications of this result are given. Among other things, it is shown that there exists an ideal ${\mathfrak{b}}$ of R such that ${{\rm Ann}_R(H_{\mathfrak{a}}^{{\rm dim} M}(M))={\rm Ann}_R(M/H_{\mathfrak{b}}^{0}(M))}$ . Using this, we show that if ${ H_{\mathfrak{a}}^{{\rm dim} R}(R)=0}$ , then ${{{\rm Att}_R} H^{{\rm dim} R-1}_{\mathfrak a}(R)= \{\mathfrak{p} \in {\rm Spec} R | \,{\rm cd}(\mathfrak{a}, R/\mathfrak{p}) = {\rm dim} R-1\}.}$ These generalize the main results of Bahmanpour et al. (see [2, Theorem 2.6]), Hellus (see [7, Theorem 2.3]), and Lynch (see [10, Theorem 2.4]).  相似文献

Given a function $\mathbb{L}_2 $ (?), its Fourier transform $g(x) = \hat f(x) = F[f](x) = \frac{1} {{\sqrt {2\pi } }}\int\limits_{ - \infty }^{ + \infty } {f(x)e^{ - ixt} dt} ,f(t) = F^{ - 1} [g](t) = \frac{1} {{\sqrt {2\pi } }}\int\limits_{ - \infty }^{ + \infty } {g(x)e^{ - ixt} dx} $ and the inverse Fourier transform are considered in the space f ε $\mathbb{L}_2 $ (?). New estimates are presented for the integral $\int\limits_{|t| \geqslant N} {|g(t)|^2 dt} = \int\limits_{|t| \geqslant N} {|\hat f(t)|^2 dt} ,N \geqslant 1,$ in the vase of f ε $\mathbb{L}_2 $ (?) characterized by the generalized modulus of continuity of the kth order constructed with the help of the Steklov function. Some other estimates associated with this integral are proved.  相似文献

We consider the question of evaluating the normalizing multiplier $$\gamma _{n,k} = \frac{1}{\pi }\int_{ - \pi }^\pi {\left( {\frac{{sin\tfrac{{nt}}{2}}}{{sin\tfrac{t}{2}}}} \right)^{2k} dt} $$ for the generalized Jackson kernel J n,k (t). We obtain the explicit formula $$\gamma _{n,k} = 2\sum\limits_{p = 0}^{\left[ {k - \tfrac{k}{n}} \right]} {( - 1)\left( {\begin{array}{*{20}c} {2k} \\ p \\ \end{array} } \right)\left( {\begin{array}{*{20}c} {k(n + 1) - np - 1} \\ {k(n - 1) - np} \\ \end{array} } \right)} $$ and the representation $$\gamma _{n,k} = \sqrt {\frac{{24}}{\pi }} \cdot \frac{{(n - 1)^{2k - 1} }}{{\sqrt {2k - 1} }}\left[ {1\frac{1}{8} \cdot \frac{1}{{2k - 1}} + \omega (n,k)} \right],$$ , where $$\left| {\omega (n,k)} \right| < \frac{4}{{(2k - 1)\sqrt {ln(2k - 1)} }} + \sqrt {12\pi } \cdot \frac{{k^{\tfrac{3}{2}} }}{{n - 1}}\left( {1 + \frac{1}{{n - 1}}} \right)^{2k - 2} .$$ .  相似文献

We study Sobolev-type metrics of fractional order s ≥ 0 on the group Diff c (M) of compactly supported diffeomorphisms of a manifold M. We show that for the important special case M = S 1, the geodesic distance on Diff c (S 1) vanishes if and only if ${s\leq\frac12}$ . For other manifolds, we obtain a partial characterization: the geodesic distance on Diff c (M) vanishes for ${M=\mathbb{R}\times N, s < \frac12}$ and for ${M=S^1\times N, s\leq\frac12}$ , with N being a compact Riemannian manifold. On the other hand, the geodesic distance on Diff c (M) is positive for ${{\rm dim}(M)=1, s > \frac12}$ and dim(M) ≥ 2, s ≥ 1. For ${M=\mathbb{R}^n}$ , we discuss the geodesic equations for these metrics. For n = 1, we obtain some well-known PDEs of hydrodynamics: Burgers’ equation for s = 0, the modified Constantin–Lax–Majda equation for ${s=\frac12}$ , and the Camassa–Holm equation for s = 1.  相似文献

The following theorem is proved. If $$f(x) = \frac{{\alpha _0 }}{2} + \sum\nolimits_k^\infty \alpha _k \cos 2\pi kx + b_k \sin 2\pi kx,$$ wherea k ↓ 0 and bk ↓ 0, then $$\mathop {\lim }\limits_{n \to \infty } \frac{1}{n}\sum\nolimits_{s = 0}^{n - 1} {f\left( {x + \frac{s}{n}} \right) = \frac{{\alpha _0 }}{2}} $$ on (0, 1) in the sense of convergence in measure. If in additionf(x) ε L2 (0, 1), then this relation holds for almost all x.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy problem for the pth order nonlinear Schrödinger equation in one space dimension $$\left\{\begin{array}{ll}iu_{t} + \frac{1}{2} u_{xx} = |u|^{p}, x \in {\bf R}, \, t > 0, \\ \qquad u(0, x) = u_{0} (x), \; x \in {\bf R},\end{array}\right.$$ where \({p > p_{s} = \frac{3 + \sqrt{17}}{2}}\) . We reveal that p = 4 is a new critical exponent with respect to the large time asymptotic behavior of solutions. We prove that if p s p < 4, then the large time asymptotics of solutions essentially differs from that for the linear case, whereas it has a quasilinear character for the case of p > 4.  相似文献

We consider four-point subdivision schemes of the form $$ (Sf)_{2i} = f_i,\qquad (Sf)_{2i+1} = \frac{f_i+f_{i+1}}{2} - \frac{1}{{8}}M\!\left(\strut \Delta^2f_{i-1}, \Delta^2f_i\right) $$ with any M that is originally defined as a positive-valued function for positive arguments and is extended to the whole of ?2 by setting $M(x,y):=- M(\left|x\right|,\left|y\right|)$ if x?<?0, y?<?0 and M(x, y)?:?=?0 if xy????0. For these schemes, we study analytic properties, such as convexity preservation, convergence, smoothness of the limit function, stability and approximation order, in terms of simple and easily verifiable conditions on M. Fourth-order approximation on intervals of strict convexity is also investigated. All the results known for the most frequently used schemes, the PPH scheme and the power-p schemes, are included as special cases or improved, and extended to more general situations. The various statements are illustrated by two examples and tested by numerial experiments.  相似文献

Given three mutually tangent circles with bends (related to the reciprocal of the radius) a, b and c respectively, an important quantity associated with the triple is the value ${\langle a,b,c \rangle:=ab+ac+bc}$ . In this note we show in the case when a central circle with bend b 0 is “surrounded” by four circles, i.e., a flower with four petals, with bends b 1, b 2, b 3,b 4 that either $$\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{1},b_{2} \rangle}+\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{3},b_{4} \rangle}=\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{2},b_{3} \rangle}+\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{4},b_{1} \rangle}$$ or $$\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{1},b_{2} \rangle}=\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{2},b_{3} \rangle}+\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{3},b_{4} \rangle}+\sqrt{\langle b_{0},b_{4},b_{1} \rangle}$$ (where ${\langle b_{0},b_{1},b_{2} \rangle}$ is chosen to be maximal). As an application we give a sufficient condition for the alternating sum of the ${\sqrt{\langle a,b,c\rangle}}$ of a packing in standard position to be 0. (A packing is in standard position when we have two circles with bend 0, i.e., parallel lines, and the remaining circles are packed in between.)  相似文献

For ωf (x) ≤ Mx, the inequality \(\left\| {{t_{n,N}}\left( {f;x} \right) - f\left( x \right)} \right\| \leqslant \frac{{\pi M}}{{n + 1}}\). is established. As a consequence, an elementary derivation of an asymptotically sharp estimate of the Kolmogorov width of a compact set of functions satisfying the Lipschitz condition is obtained.  相似文献
