We experimentally demonstrate an all-optical 10 Gb/s format conversion from non-return-to-zero (NRZ) on-off-keying (OOK) to return-to-zero (RZ)-OOK with tunable duty cycle in the whole C-band using nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) arising in an semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). The experimental results show that, by tuning the polarizer at the SOA output, an RZ signal with tunable duty cycle from 33% to 66% could be obtained with an extinction ratio(ER) over 10 dB. In addition, we show that the NRZ-to-RZ conversion with duty cycle of 33-66% can be obtained with less than 1 dB power penalty at the bit error ratio (BER) of 10−9. The device can facilitate the cross-connection between optical transmission networks employing different modulation formats.  相似文献

The impact of a post-OTDM-demultiplexing optical filter on the performance of dense on-off keying (OOK) optical time division multiplexing (OTDM)—wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems was studied. For return-to-zero (RZ) modulation, it was found that the additional filter working in a double-tier filter configuration did not offer any significant improvements to performance when the signal pulse width is optimized. Improvements generally increase only when the signal pulse width deviates from its optimal value and only for low spectral densities. For ideal non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation, however, significant improvements of around 1 dB are obtained using the double-tier configuration over a large range of spectral densities.  相似文献

In this paper, the cost effective bi-directional passive optical network architecture with wavelength remodulated scheme is investigated. To realize the cost-effective PON, remodulation scheme is used, in which the downstream optical signal is reused as a carrier for the upstream transmission as it eliminates the need for an extra laser source at optical network units. The performance of proposed passive optical network is analyzed and compared for various modulation formats such as Non Return to Zero (NRZ), Return to Zero (RZ) and On–Off Keying (OOK) with 64 optical networks units (ONUs) at different traffic speed for downlink and uplink, respectively. It has been observed that the most suitable data format for proposed PON network is NRZ. Further the proposed system performance is compared with the current state-of-the-art PON architectures.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a simple and flexible approach to generate vestigial side band modified duobinary return-to-zero (VSB MD-RZ) signals at 10-40 Gb/s, using a dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator and a detuned optical band-pass filter. The performance of the proposed VSB MD-RZ signal is investigated by comparing with double side band MD-RZ (DSB MD-RZ) and conventional VSB MD-RZ. Bit error ratio (BER) measurement at 10 Gb/s shows an error free operation for the generated signal. Good performance is further observed after 100 km of single-mode-fiber transmission at 40 Gb/s.  相似文献

We numerically investigate the performance improvement and its limitations using super-Gaussian filtered incoherent pumping in Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) slow light systems, especially for 2.5-Gb/s return-to-zero (RZ) OOK data streams. As compared to regular Gaussian filtering schemes, super-Gaussian filters can reduce the signal broadening without sacrificing the generated delay. On the other hand, although the figure-of-merits (FOM) in terms of the normalized delay and signal Q-factor products can be improved as well, additional sub-pulses may appear and subsequently the curve of FOM versus slow-light bandwidth exhibits a fluctuated behavior.  相似文献

提出了一种基于光参量放大的高速实时光取样方案. 利用色散介质对光纤锁模激光器产生的窄脉冲源进行色散展宽,从而产生线性啁啾光信号. 将该信号和被取样信号同时送入高非线性光纤,利用高非线性光纤中的参量放大效应,将被取样信号的强度信息调制到线性啁啾光信号上. 在接收端利用不同中心波长的滤波器即可滤出不同时间点的取样信号,从而在光域同时完成了高速实时光取样和取样信号的串-并转换. 是实现高速实时取样技术的一种极具竞争力的实现方案. 实验中,实现了对10 Gb/s非归零码OOK信号的40 GS/s的高速实时取样系统,并转换为4路10 GS/s取样信号输出. 在接收端成功根据4路取样信号恢复出被取样信号波形,验证了该实时光取样方案的可行性. 关键词: 光信号处理 光取样 参量放大 高非线性光纤  相似文献

研究了40Gb/s非归零或归零格式下,差分相移键控和开关键控信号对一阶偏振模色散的影响.比较分析了不同偏振模色散影响下的各种调制格式的眼开度.结果表明:使用非归零和归零格式,在一阶偏振模色散情况下,差分相移键控信号均比开关键控信号有更高的眼开度;与归零差分相移键控格式相比,非归零差分相移键控格式受偏振模色散影响眼开度要小;对于给定的比特率,载波抑制归零差分相移键控格式比归零差分相移键控格式有更好的抗偏振模色散能力.  相似文献

A scheme to achieve ultrahigh speed all-optical format conversion from on-off keying (OOK) to phase-shift keying (PSK) by using the linear filtering in the silicon ring resonators is proposed. It is shown that the OOK-to-PSK conversion can be achieved through a linear signal processing. Simulation results are provided for the 160-Gb/s non-return-to-zero (NRZ)-to-PSK and carrier-suppressed (CS) return-to-zero (RZ)-to-(CS)RZPSK conversions.  相似文献

We propose a novel advanced orthogonal modulation format dark return-to-zero frequency shift keying/differential phase shift keying (DRZ-FSK/DPSK) and its realization scheme. The DRZ-FSK/DPSK is generated by the combination of a 40-Gb/s return-to-zero (RZ) signal and a DRZ signal which is converted from the RZ using a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) based on nonlinear cross polarization rotation (XPR) and then re-modulated by high-bit-rate DPSK at 40 Gb/s. The feasibility of the scheme is exper-imentally demonstrated. Bit error rate (BER) results of the total 80-Gb/s DRZ-FSK/DPSK orthogonal modulation signal with a subsequent 100-km single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission link show its potential for future high-speed long-haul optical communication.  相似文献

采用双波长注入一包含伪随机码发生器与相位调制器的光电振荡器可以同时得到非归零(NRZ)码,归零(RZ)码以及光,电时钟信号输出。该方案使用了光域耦合的双环路结构,在不增加有源器件的条件下实现边模抑制。相位调制器用于反馈调制并同时实现占空比可调的非归零码到归零码的转换。双波长的注入排除了编码信号在振荡器中引入的非时钟频率成分。实验给出了10 Gb/s工作速率下的结果,得到了抖动为637 fs的光信号输出。转换得到的归零码信号占空比约为33%。输出电时钟信号的相位噪声在频偏10 kHz处为-109 dBc/Hz,边模抑制比为58 dB。  相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a 40 Gb/s secure optical communication system with on-off-keying (OOK) modulation format by using a time domain spectral phase en/decoding scheme, which employs a highly dispersive element and high-speed phase modulator for introducing significant symbol overlapping for both the encoded and incorrectly decoded noiselike signals to enhance the information security against eavesdropping using a power detector. The influence of dispersion and chip modulation rate on the symbol overlapping of the incorrectly decoded signal has been analytically investigated and experimentally verified. Security enhancement for 40 Gb/s OOK data using fast reconfigurable 40 Gchip/s optical codes with code lengths of up to 1024 has been demonstrated and compared with a 10 Gb/s system.  相似文献

We have demonstrated a bidirectional reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) based on wavelength division multiplexing ROF network utilizing an offset quadrature differential phase shift keying (OQPSK) signal for down-link and an on-off keying (OOK) signal re-modulated for up-link. A 50 km range colorless WDM-ROF without dispersion compensation was demonstrated for both 1 Gbit/s downstream and upstream signals. The BER performance of our scheme shows that our scheme is a practical solution to meet the data rate and cost-efficient of the optical links simultaneously in tomorrow's ROF access networks.  相似文献

In this paper, the system scheme of on–off keying (OOK) to quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) format conversion is proposed, which is based on two gain-transparent semiconductor optical amplifiers (GT-SOA). GT-SOA is used as a simple all-optical phase modulator, which is no effects of cross gain modulation and four-wave mixing existing in conventional SOA. The assistant light is used to speed up the SOA carrier recovery time. The principles of OOK to QPSK format conversion are expounded. The influences of the assistant light power and signal light power on the conversions are numerically analyzed. The OOK signal can still be exactly converted to the QPSK signal with the power of OOK signal being changed within a certain range.  相似文献

报道了一种利用单只半导体光放大器和光滤波器实现全光归零码到非归零码变换的新技术方案.当探测(Probe)光和数据信号光同时输入到SOA时,基于SOA中的交叉增益调制和交叉相位调制现象,探测光光谱的后沿和前沿将分别产生红移和蓝移.通过调节光滤波器和探测光的中心波长之间的失调量,滤出光谱的特定部分,可以得到转换后的NRZ码光信号.这种新型的全光码型变换器具有结构简单、偏振不敏感、控制参量少和稳定性高的特点.分别采用仿真和实验的方式实现了20 Gbit/s光数据信号从RZ码到NRZ码的全光码型变换,并且仿真结果和实验结果相吻合.  相似文献

偏振模色散已成为当前发展高速长距离光纤传输系统的主要限制因素。理论上分析了光纤一阶偏振膜色散效应对高速伪随机非归零码/归零码光信号偏振度的影响,并利用数值模拟的方法分析了信号不同输入偏振态以及高阶偏振膜色散效应对非归零码光信号偏振度的影响。最后对利用信号偏振度作为反馈控制信号的自适应偏振膜色散补偿系统的补偿性能进行了分析,大量统计分析结果表明对于10Gbit/s的非归零码光纤传输系统,当传输线路的平均偏振膜色散值小于43ps时,利用极大化输出信号偏振度的偏振膜色散补偿系统对信号眼图的补偿概率可以达到99.99%.  相似文献

We theoretically discuss 40 Gb/s semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based wavelength conversion (WC) using a detuning optical bandpass Jilter based on ultrafast dynamic characteristics of SOA. Both the inverted and noninverted WCs are obtained by shifting the filter central wavelength with respect to the probe wavelength when input data signal is in return-to-zero (RZ) format. However, we can obtain format conversion from nonreturn- to-zero (NRZ) to pseudo-return-to-zero (PRZ) and inverted WC when the input signal is in NRZ format.  相似文献
