We study the Banach algebra generated by a finite number of Bergman polykernel operators with continuous coefficients that is extended by operators of weighted shift that form a finite group. By using an isometric transformation, we represent the operators of the algebra in the form of a matrix operator formed by a finite number of mutually complementary projectors whose coefficients are Toeplitz matrix functions of finite order. Using properties of Bergman polykernel operators, we obtain an efficient criterion for the operators of the algebra considered to be Fredholm operators.  相似文献

The possibility is studied of approximating pointwise defined operators in a broad class of constructive metric spaces. Various ways of representing operators approximately are presented; uniform approximability, approximability, and weak approximability (see Definitions 3.1, 4.2). It is proved that the class of uniformly approximable operators equals the class of uniformly continuous operators. It is proved that a Lie algebra of compact operators with a non-zero Volterra ideal is reducible (has a nontrivial invariant subspace). A number of other criteria of reducibility for collections of operators is obtained. The results are applied to the structure theory of Lie algebras of compact operators and normed Lie algebras with compact adjoint action.  相似文献

We calculate the number of bound states appearing below the spectrum of a semi—bounded operator in the case of a weak, indefinite perturbation. The abstract result generalizes the Birman—Schwinger principle to this case. We discuss a number of examples, in particular higher order differential operators, critical Schrodinger operators, systems of second order differential operators, Schrodinger type operators with magnetic fields and the Two—dimensional Pauli operator with a localized magnetic field.  相似文献

We develop relative oscillation theory for one-dimensional Dirac operators which, rather than measuring the spectrum of one single operator, measures the difference between the spectra of two different operators. This is done by replacing zeros of solutions of one operator by weighted zeros of Wronskians of solutions of two different operators. In particular, we show that a Sturm-type comparison theorem still holds in this situation and demonstrate how this can be used to investigate the number of eigenvalues in essential spectral gaps. Furthermore, the connection with Krein's spectral shift function is established. As an application we extend a result by K.M. Schmidt on the finiteness/infiniteness of the number of eigenvalues in essential spectral gaps of perturbed periodic Dirac operators.  相似文献

Ellipticity of a manifold with edges and boundary is connected to boundary and edge conditions that complete corresponding operators to Fredholm operators between weighted Sobolev spaces. We study a new parameter-dependent calculus of elliptic operators, where the interior symbols have specific properties on the boundary. We construct elliptic operators with a prescribed number of edge conditions and obtain isomorphisms in the scale of edge Sobolev spaces. This paper deals with the spectra of the Laplace and stability operators of a constant mean curvature surface in the hyperbolic space. In a preceding work, the author described the essential spectra of these operators, assuming that the surface is of finite total curvature. In this paper, we prove that these two operators have a finite number of eigenvalues below their essential spectra.

We introduce a number of notions related to the Lyapunov transformation of linear differential operators with unbounded operator coefficients generated by a family of evolution operators. We prove statements about similar operators related to the Lyapunov transformation and describe their spectral properties. One of the main results of the paper is a similarity theorem for a perturbed differential operator with constant operator coefficient, an operator which is the generator of a bounded group of operators. For the perturbation, we consider the operator ofmultiplication by a summable operator function. The almost periodicity (at infinity) of the solutions of the corresponding homogeneous differential equation is established.  相似文献

In this paper we propose several modified hybrid projection methods for solving common solutions to variational inequality problems involving monotone and Lipschitz continuous operators. Based on differently constructed half-spaces, the proposed methods reduce the number of projections onto feasible sets as well as the number of values of operators needed to be computed. Strong convergence theorems are established under standard assumptions imposed on the operators. An extension of the proposed algorithm to a system of generalized equilibrium problems is considered and numerical experiments are also presented.  相似文献

It is shown that on every finite network with at least one circuit there exist second order differential operators having an infinite number of nonreal eigenvalues. The presence of nonreal eigenvalues implies that these operators cannot be selfadjoint with respect to any metric. These eigenvalues reveal also the existence of oscillatory solutions for the corresponding time-dependent partial differential equations.  相似文献

In many situations, when dealing with several populations with different covariance operators, equality of the operators is assumed. Usually, if this assumption does not hold, one estimates the covariance operator of each group separately, which leads to a large number of parameters. As in the multivariate setting, this is not satisfactory since the covariance operators may exhibit some common structure. In this paper, we discuss the extension to the functional setting of the common principal component model that has been widely studied when dealing with multivariate observations. Moreover, we also consider a proportional model in which the covariance operators are assumed to be equal up to a multiplicative constant. For both models, we present estimators of the unknown parameters and we obtain their asymptotic distribution. A test for equality against proportionality is also considered.  相似文献

Summary We consider the solution of the algebraic system of equations which result from the discretization of second order elliptic equations. A class of multilevel algorithms are studied using the additive Schwarz framework. We establish that the condition number of the iteration operators are bounded independent of mesh sizes and the number of levels. This is an improvement on Dryja and Widlund's result on a multilevel additive Schwarz algorithm, as well as Bramble, Pasciak and Xu's result on the BPX algorithm. Some multiplicative variants of the multilevel methods are also considered. We establish that the energy norms of the corresponding iteration operators are bounded by a constant less than one, which is independent of the number of levels. For a proper ordering, the iteration operators correspond to the error propagation operators of certain V-cycle multigrid methods, using Gauss-Seidel and damped Jacobi methods as smoothers, respectively.This work was supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grants NSF-CCR-8903003 at Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University and NSF-ASC-8958544 at Department of Computer Science, University of Maryland.  相似文献

Strict monotonicity of the spectral radii of bounded, positive, ordered linear operators is investigated. It is well-known that under reasonable assumptions, the spectral radii of two ordered positive operators enjoy a non-strict inequality. It is also well-known that a “strict” inequality between operators does not imply strict monotonicity of the spectral radii in general—some additional structure is required. We present a number of sufficient conditions on both the cone and the operators for such a strict ordering to hold which generalise known results in the literature, and have utility in comparison arguments, ubiquitous in positive systems theory.  相似文献
