Starting with partial wave projections of the Compton scattering invariant amplitudes free of kinematical singularities or zeros, generalized electric and magnetic multipole polarizabilities of spin-0 and spin-12 hadrons are introduced as threshold limits of the non-Born parts of the corresponding electric and magnetic Compton multipoles. These objects, which enter the higher low-energy theorems for elastic γ-hadron scattering, are shown to be acceptable quantum field theoretical generalizations of the usual static multipolar polarizabilities encountered in classical electrodynamics or non-relativistic quantum mechanics. Using the analyticity properties of the amplitudes, sum rules for the generalized electric and magnetic quadrupole polarizabilities of the proton and the pions are written down and evaluated numerically within the two-particle unitarity approximation.  相似文献

Detailed calculations of elastic photon-deuteron scattering cross sections for photon energies up to about the π-production threshold are presented. The scattering amplitude is decomposed into scalar, vector and tensor polarizabilities for the various electric and magnetic multipole combinations. This includes a general multipole expansion of the two-photon operator. The imaginary part of the polarizabilities is determined from the contribution to the total cross section using the optical theorem. The real part is then obtained from dispersion relations. Special emphasis is laid on the discussion of exchange effects for both the resonance and the two-photon amplitude. These affect strongly the resonance amplitude whereas for the two-photon amplitude we find only a small effect beyond the important low-energy limit. Another important result is the large vector polarizability at higher energies related to the optical activity of the deuteron.  相似文献

The spin polarizabilities of the nucleon are fundamental structure constants which describe the response of the nucleon spin to an incident polarized photon. The most model-independent way to measure the nucleon spin polarizabilities is the Compton scattering with polarization degrees of freedom. Three Compton scattering asymmetries on the proton were measured in the Δ(1232) region using a polarized incident photon beam and a polarized (or unpolarized) proton target at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI). These asymmetries are sensitive to values of the spin polarizabilities. Fits to asymmetry data were performed using a dispersion model calculation, and a separation of all four proton spin-polarizabilities in the multipole basis was achieved. The values of the proton spin polarizabilities are presented.  相似文献

We examine manifestations of neutron electromagnetic polarizabilities in coherent Compton scattering from the helium-3 nucleus. We calculate gamma3He elastic scattering observables using chiral perturbation theory to next-to-leading order [O(e2Q)]. We find that the unpolarized differential cross section can be used to measure neutron electric and magnetic polarizabilities, while two double-polarization observables are sensitive to different linear combinations of the four neutron spin polarizabilities.  相似文献

In a previous paper virtual Compton scattering off the nucleon has been investigated in the one-loop approximation of the linear sigma model in order to determine the 3 scalar generalized polarizabilities. We have now extended this work and calculated the 7 vector polarizabilities showing up in the spin-dependent amplitude of virtual Compton scattering. The results fulfill 3 model-independent constraints recently derived. Compared to the constituent quark model there exist enormous differences for some of the vector polarizabilities. At vanishing three-momentum of the virtual photon, the analytical results of the sigma model and of chiral perturbation theory can be related. The influence of the π0 exchange in the t channel has been discussed in some detail. Besides, the vector polarizabilities determine 2 linear combinations of the third order spin-polarizabilities appearing in real Compton scattering.  相似文献

We determine the static values of the scalar and tensor dipole polarizabilities of the ground, 6s6p~3P_0~o, and 6s6p~3P_1~o states of the Yb atom. These results can be useful in many experiments undertaken using this atom. We employed a combined configuration interaction(CI) method and a second-order many-body perturbation theory(MBPT) to evaluate energies and electric dipole(E1) matrix elements of many low-lying excited states of the above atom. These values are compared with the other available theoretical calculations and experimental values. By combining these E1 matrix elements with the experimental excitation energies, we estimate the dominant valence correlation contributions to the dipole polarizabilities of the above states. The core contribution is obtained from the finite field approach. We also compare these values with the other theoretical results as there are no precise experimental values that are available for these properties.  相似文献

<正>The static electric dipole polarizabilities of the ground state and n≤3 excited states of a lithium atom embedded in a weekly coupled plasma environment are investigated as a function of the plasma screening radium.The plasma screening of the Coulomb interaction is described by the Debye-H(u|¨)ckel potential and the interaction between the valence electron and the atomic core is described by a model potential.The electron energies and wave functions for both the bound and continuum states are calculated by solving the Schrodinger equation numerically using the symplectic integrator.The oscillator strengths,partial-wave,and total static dipole polarizabilities of the ground state and n≤3 excited states of the lithium atom are calculated.Comparison of present results with those of other authors, when available,is made.The results for the 2s ground state demonstrated that the oscillator strengths and the static dipole polarizabilities from np orbitals do not always increase or decrease with the plasma screening effect increasing, unlike that for hydrogen-like ions,especially for 2s→3p transition there is a zero value for both the oscillator strength and the static dipole polarizability for screening length D = 10.3106a0,which is associated with the Cooper minima.  相似文献

The static (electric and magnetic) polarizabilities of the proton are known from measurements of low-energy Compton scattering of real photons. However, no experimental data are so far available about its spin polarizabilities, which describe the response of the proton spin to a varying electromagnetic field. These fundamental structure constants can be obtained in the most model-independent way from measurements of double-polarized Compton scattering at energies below the pion threshold using a polarized photon beam and a polarized proton target. An active polarized target based on polystyrene doped with a scintillator allows recoil protons to be detected directly in the target material, background from the coherent Compton effect on heavier nuclei (12C etc.) to be eliminated and precise data on spin polarizabilities to be obtained.  相似文献

Localized surface electromagnetic resonances in spherical nanoparticles with gain are investigated by using the Mie theory. Due to the coupling between the gain and resonances, super scattering phenomenon is raised and the total scattering efficiency is increased by over six orders of magnitude. The dual frequency resonance induced by the electric dipole term of the particle is observed. The distributions of electromagnetic field and the Poynting vector around nanoparticles are provided for better understanding different multipole resonances. Finally, the scattering properties of active spherical nanoparticles are investigated when the sizes of nanoparticles are beyond the quasi-static limit. It is noticed that more highorder multipole resonances can be excited with the increase of the radius. Besides, all resonances dominated by multipole magnetic terms can only appear in dielectric materials.  相似文献

A compact expression is derived for the part of the cross section for light scattering by axisymmetrically polarized atomic systems proportional to the third-rank state multipole. The effect of the second-order orientation determined by this state multipole on the polarization and angular distribution of the scattered light is studied. The polarization of the incident light can be arbitrary and is specified by the Stokes parameters. A number of orientation effects in the scattering process are shown to be induced precisely by the second-order orientation. In particular, when nonpolarized light is scattered by an oriented atom, the scattering intensity in the perpendicular direction depends on the second-order orientation alone. The second-order orientation also preserves circular dichroism in the linear polarization of the forward-and back-scattered light.  相似文献

The effects of Debye potentials on the dynamic multipole polarizabilities of Li and Na atoms are investigated using the symplectic algorithm. Using LCAO-SCF wave functions on the monomers and a non-empirical Unsöld procedure for the second-order properties we have calculated the (2 l ) multipole moments (up to l=6), the (l,l') multipole polarizabilities (up to l + l' = 6) and the related long-range coefficients describing the electrostatic, induction and dispersion interactions for the different azabenzene molecules. The agreement with available experimental data is good, in particular for the dipole polarizabilities. The anisotropy of the long-range interaction potential is dominated by the electrostatic contributions, although the dispersion terms, especially the mixed-pole terms (ll') for even n (C8, C10), also contribute significantly; the induction energy is rather small. The π contributions to the polarizabilities and the dispersion interactions are found to be larger than earlier estimates. Moreover, it is shown by calculating the dipole polarizabilities of some (aza)naphthalenes and (aza)anthracenes, that a bond polarizability model can be applied effectively only if the delocalized π electrons are considered separately from the σ electrons.  相似文献

A general method is suggested for solving problems on the conductivity and other effective characteristics of two-dimensional ternary two-sublattice models with inclusions of arbitrary shape. The complex potential outside of the inclusions is expressed in terms of the Weierstrass zeta function and its derivatives. The electric field induced on a separate inclusion is described using the matrix of multipole polarizabilities, for which the symmetry relation is found. The suggested approach enables one to find exact virial expansions for the basic electrophysical characteristics of such systems.  相似文献

原子碰撞中的取向(orientation)参数的研究为原子碰撞动力学、原子受激态结构提供了丰富的信息.散射靶原子集合可用态多极(state multipole)描述,用它可以表征受激态原子的取向参数.通过取向参数与受激原子态退激的偶极辐射光子的Stokes参数之间的关系,可以进行实验与理论的比较.本文主要研究钠原子受电子散射S→P跃迁中取向参数,根据散射理论的扭曲波近似展开计算得到的散射振幅,带入态多极,然后计算钠原子3P态取向与散射角的关系及不同入射能下受激态取向参数变化特点,并与电子-光子符合散射实验所测数据进行比较.考虑到符合散射实验的测量困难,在误差范围内,理论分析与实验结果符合得比较好. 关键词: 取向参数 态多极 Stokes参数 电子-光子符合测量  相似文献
