Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) oligomers having alkali metal thiolate groups on the chain ends (PEO m -SM+) were prepared as an ion conductive matrix. The molecular weight of the PEO part (m) and the content of the thiolate groups in the molecule were changed to analyze the effect of carrier ion concentration in the bulk. In a series of potassium salt derivatives, PEO350-SK showed the highest ionic conductivity of 6.42 × 10−5 S/cm at 50 °C. In spite of a poor degree of dissociation which was derived from the acidity of the thiolate groups, PEO m -SM showed quite high ionic conductivity among other PEO/salt hybrids. PEO m -SM had glass transition temperatures (T g) 20 °C lower than other PEO/salt hybrids. Lowering the T g was concluded to be effective in providing higher ionic conductivity for PEO-based polymer electrolytes. Received: 30 April 1999 / Accepted: 20 June 1999  相似文献

In the present work effect of 90 MeV O7+ ions with five different fluences on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/Na+-montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites has been investigated. PEO/MMT nanocomposites were synthesized by solution intercalation technique. With the increase in irradiation fluence, gallery spacing of MMT increases in the composite and an exfoliated nanostructure is obtained at the fluence of 5?×?1012 ions/cm2 as revealed by X-ray diffraction results. Highest room temperature ionic conductivity of 4.2?×?10?6?S?cm?1 was found for the fluence 5?×?1012 ions/cm2, while the conductivity for unirradiated polymer electrolyte was found to be 7.5?×?10-8?S?cm?1. The increase in intercalation of PEO chains inside the galleries of MMT results in the increase in interaction between Na+ cation and oxygen heteroatom leading to the increase in ionic conductivity of the composites. Surface morphology and interactions among the various constituents in the nanocomposites at different fluence have been examined by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, respectively. The appearance of peak for each fluence in the loss tangent suggests the presence of relaxing dipoles in the polymer nanocomposite electrolyte films. With the increase in ion fluence the peak shifts towards higher frequency side, suggesting decrease in the relaxation time.  相似文献

Introduction Recently, polymer electrolytes have attracted much attention for their potential use in replacing flammable organic solvent electrolytes currently used in lith-ium-ion batteries, thus improving the safety of re-chargeable lithium batteries. Moreover, the batteries with PE can be made in any shape, which make fully use of the space of electronic devices. PEO is a linear polymer with helix structure, and its structure makes it have much higher dissolution ability for salt even tho…  相似文献

Ionic liquid monomer couples were prepared by the neutralization of 1‐vinylimidazole with vinylsulfonic acid or 3‐sulfopropyl acrylate. These ionic liquid monomer couples were viscous liquid at room temperature and showed low glass transition temperature (Tg) at ?83 °C and ?73 °C, respectively. These monomer couples were copolymerized to prepare ion conductive polymer matrix. Thus prepared ionic liquid copolymers had no carrier ions, and they showed very low ionic conductivity of below 10?9 S cm?1. Equimolar amount of lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) to imidazolium salt unit was then added to generate carrier ions in the ionic liquid copolymers. Poly(vinylimidazolium‐co‐vinylsulfonate) containing equimolar LiTFSI showed the ionic conductivity of 4 × 10?8 S cm?1 at 30 °C. Advanced copolymer, poly(vinylimidazolium‐co‐3‐sulfopropyl acrylate) which has flexible spacer between the anionic charge and polymer main chain, showed the ionic conductivity of about 10?6 S cm?1 at 30 °C, which is 100 times higher than that of copolymer without spacer. Even an excess amount of LiTFSI was added, the ionic conductivity of the copolymer kept this conductivity. This tendency is completely different from the typical polyether systems. A new plasticized nanocomposite polymer electrolyte based on poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO)-LiTf dispersed with ceramic filler (Al2O3) and plasticized with propylene carbonate (PC), ethylene carbonate (EC), and a mixture of EC and PC (EC+PC) have been studied for their ionic conductivity and thermal properties. The incorporation of plasticizers alone will yield polymer electrolytes with enhanced conductivity but with poor mechanical properties. However, mechanical properties can be improved by incorporating ceramic fillers to the plasticized system. Nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte films (200–600 μm) were prepared by common solvent-casting method. In present work, we have shown the ionic conductivity can be substantially enhanced by using the combined effect of the plasticizers as well as the inert filler. It was revealed that the incorporating 15 wt.% Al2O3 filler in to PEO: LiTf polymer electrolyte significantly enhanced the ionic conductivity [σ RT (max)?=?7.8?×?10?6 S cm?1]. It was interesting to observe that the addition of PC, EC, and mixture of EC and PC to the PEO: LiTf: 15 wt.% Al2O3 CPE showed further conductivity enhancement. The conductivity enhancement with EC is higher than PC. However, mixture of plasticizer (EC+PC) showed maximum conductivity enhancement in the temperature range interest, giving the value [σ RT (max)?=?1.2?×?10?4 S cm?1]. It is suggested that the addition of PC, EC, or a mixture of EC and PC leads to a lowering of glass transition temperature and increasing the amorphous phase of PEO and the fraction of PEO-Li+ complex, corresponding to conductivity enhancement. Al2O3 filler would contribute to conductivity enhancement by transient hydrogen bonding of migrating ionic species with O–OH groups at the filler grain surface. The differential scanning calorimetry thermograms points towards the decrease of T g , crystallite melting temperature, and melting enthalpy of PEO: LiTf: Al2O3 CPE after introducing plasticizers. The reduction of crystallinity and the increase in the amorphous phase content of the electrolyte, caused by the filler, also contributes to the observed conductivity enhancement.  相似文献

A novel single lithium‐ion (Li‐ion) conducting polymer electrolyte is presented that is composed of the lithium salt of a polyanion, poly[(4‐styrenesulfonyl)(trifluoromethyl(S‐trifluoromethylsulfonylimino)sulfonyl)imide] (PSsTFSI?), and high‐molecular‐weight poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO). The neat LiPSsTFSI ionomer displays a low glass‐transition temperature (44.3 °C; that is, strongly plasticizing effect). The complex of LiPSsTFSI/PEO exhibits a high Li‐ion transference number (tLi+=0.91) and is thermally stable up to 300 °C. Meanwhile, it exhibits a Li‐ion conductivity as high as 1.35×10?4 S cm?1 at 90 °C, which is comparable to that for the classic ambipolar LiTFSI/PEO SPEs at the same temperature. These outstanding properties of the LiPSsTFSI/PEO blended polymer electrolyte would make it promising as solid polymer electrolytes for Li batteries.  相似文献

A novel hyperbranched poly(glycidol) (HPG) was prepared and characterized. The synthesized HPG was used as a substrate of a polymer electrolyte. The ionic conductivity of a blend of HPG, polyurethane (PU), and salt was studied. The ionic conductivity of HPG/PU/LiClO4 was about 6.6 × 10?6 S · cm?1 at 20 °C and 6.3 × 10?4 S · cm?1 at 60 °C. The results indicated that HPG showed higher solubility for salt than linear polyether when both had the same [O]/[Li+] molar ratio. The main reason was that more cavities and a lower degree of chain entanglement in HPG resulted in a lower glass‐transition temperature and were beneficial for decreasing the aggregation of salt or enhancing the ionic conductivity. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The properties of polymeric materials are dictated not only by their composition but also by their molecular architecture. Here, by employing brush‐first ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), norbornene‐terminated poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) macromonomers ( MM‐n , linear architecture), bottlebrush polymers ( Brush‐n , comb architecture), and brush‐arm star polymers ( BASP‐n , star architecture), where n indicates the average degree of polymerization (DP) of PEO, are synthesized. The impact of architecture on the thermal properties and Li+ conductivities for this series of PEO architectures is investigated. Notably, in polymers bearing PEO with the highest degree of polymerization, irrespective of differences in architecture and molecular weight (~100‐fold differences), electrolytes with lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) as an Li+ source exhibit normalized ionic conductivities (σn) within only 4.9 times difference (σn = 29.8 × 10?5 S cm?1 for MM‐45 and σn = 6.07 × 10?5 S cm?1 for BASP‐45 ) at a concentration of Li+ r = [Li+]/[EO] = 1/12 at 50 °C. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Salt‐containing membranes based on polymethacrylates having poly(ethylene carbonate‐co‐ethylene oxide) side chains, as well as their blends with poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF‐HFP), have been studied. Self‐supportive ion conductive membranes were prepared by casting films of methacrylate functional poly(ethylene carbonate‐co‐ethylene oxide) macromonomers containing lithium bis(trifluorosulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) salt, followed by irradiation with UV‐light to polymerize the methacrylate units in situ. Homogenous electrolyte membranes based on the polymerized macromonomers showed a conductivity of 6.3 × 10?6 S cm?1 at 20 °C. The preparation of polymer blends, by the addition of PVDF‐HFP to the electrolytes, was found to greatly improve the mechanical properties. However, the addition led to an increase of the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the ion conductive phase by ~5 °C. The conductivity of the blend membranes was thus lower in relation to the corresponding homogeneous polymer electrolytes, and 2.5 × 10?6 S cm?1 was recorded for a membrane containing 10 wt % PVDF‐HFP at 20 °C. Increasing the salt concentration in the blend membranes was found to increase the Tg of the ion conductive component and decrease the propensity for the crystallization of the PVDF‐HFP component. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polymer electrolytes provide a visible pathway for the construction of high-safety quasi-solid-state batteries due to their high interface compatibility and processability. Nevertheless, sluggish ion transfer at room temperature seriously limits their applications. Herein, a triangular synergy strategy is proposed to accelerate Na-ion conduction via the cooperation of polymer-salt, ionic liquid, and electron-rich additive. Especially, PVDF-HFP and NaTFSI salt acted as the framework to stably accommodate all the ingredients. An ionic liquid (Emim+-FSI) softened the polymer chains through a weakening molecule force and offered additional liquid pathways for ion transport. Physicochemical characterizations and theoretical calculations demonstrated that electron-rich Nerolin with π-cation interaction facilitated the dissociation of NaTFSI and effectively restrained the competitive migration of large cations from EmimFSI, thus lowering the energy barrier for ion transport. The strategy resulted in a thin F-rich interphase dominated by NaTFSI salt's decomposition, enabling rapid Na+ transmission across the interface. These combined effects resulted in a polymer electrolyte with high ionic conductivity (1.37×10−3 S cm−1) and tNa+ (0.79) at 25 °C. The assembled cells delivered reliable rate capability and stability (200 cycles, 99.2 %, 0.5 C) with a good safety performance.  相似文献

To obtain solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) having high ionic conductivity together with mechanical integrity, we have synthesized polystyrene (PSt)‐polyether (PE) diblock copolymers via one‐pot anionic polymerization. The PSt block is expected to aggregate to act as hard fillers in the SPE to enhance the mechanical property. The PE block consists of random copolymer (P(EO‐r‐MEEGE)) of ethylene oxide (EO) and 2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy) ethyl glycidyl ether (MEEGE) in different molar ratios ([EO]/[MEEGE] = 100/0, 86/14, 75/25, 68/32, and 41/59). The introduction of the MEEGE moiety in PEO reduced the crystallinity of PEO, and the fast motion of the MEEGE side chain caused plasticization of the PE block, thereby contributing to the fast ion transport. SPEs were fabricated by mixing the obtained diblock copolymer (PSEx) and lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) amide (LiTFSA) with [Li]/[O] = 0.05. Ionic conductivity of the obtained SPEs was dependent on the molar ratio of EO in the PE block (x) as well as the weight fraction of PE block (fPE) in the block copolymer. PSE0.86 (fPE = 0.65) exhibited high ionic conductivity (3.3 × 10?5 S cm?1 at 30°C; 1.1 × 10?4 S cm?1 at 60°C) comparable with that of P(EO‐r‐MEEGE) (PE0.85; fPE = 1.00) (9.8 × 10?5 S cm?1 at 30°C; 4.0 × 10?4 S cm?1 at 60°C).  相似文献

A novel combination of dispersed phase polymer nanocomposite electrolyte based on PEO8‐LiClO4+ x wt % nano‐CeO2 has been investigated. A model for ion transport mechanism has been proposed to account for substantial enhancement of its electrical conductivity by ~ 2 orders of magnitude at low volume fraction of the filler reinforcement in the polymer nanocomposite films. The strength of the proposed model is based on unambiguous evidences from FTIR, TEM, and conductivity analysis. The FTIR results provide clear role of nanofiller concentration on ion–ion interaction quantified in terms of the fraction of free anion and ion‐pairs present in the nanocomposite films and its excellent correlation with conductivity versus filler concentration. The presence of asymmetry in the ν4(ClO4?) band observed at 625 cm?1 is attributed to its resolved degeneracy suggesting the presence of both uncoordinated and cation‐coordinated ClO4? anion in the matrix due to ion–ion and ion–filler interactions assisted by Lewis acid–base interaction. The enhancement in conductivity at low concentration is possibly due to direct interaction of nano‐CeO2 with both polymer host and anions resulting in the release of ionic charges. Drastic conductivity reduction at higher concentration is related to charge immobilization because of ion/ion‐pair entrapment by local clusters of filler as evidenced in TEM. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Solid composite polymer electrolytes consisting of polyethylene oxide (PEO), LiClO4, and porous inorganic–organic hybrid poly (cyclotriphosphazene-co-4, 4′-sulfonyldiphenol) (PZS) nanotubes were prepared using the solvent casting method. Differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy were used to determine the characteristics of the composite polymer electrolytes. The ionic conductivity, lithium ion transference number, and electrochemical stability window can be enhanced after the addition of PZS nanotubes. The electrochemical impedance showed that the conductivity was improved significantly. Maximum ionic conductivity values of 1.5 × 10−5 S cm−1 at ambient temperature and 7.8 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 80 °C were obtained with 10 wt.% content of PZS nanotubes, and the lithium ion transference number was 0.35. The good electrochemical properties of the solid-state composite polymer electrolytes suggested that the porous inorganic–organic hybrid polyphosphazene nanotubes had a promising use as fillers in SPEs and the PEO10–LiClO4–PZS nanotube solid composite polymer electrolyte might be used as a candidate material for lithium polymer batteries.  相似文献

All-solid-state polymer lithium-ion batteries are ideal choice for the next generation of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries due to their high energy, safety and flexibility. Among all polymer electrolytes, PEO-based polymer electrolytes have attracted extensive attention because they can dissolve various lithium salts. However, the ionic conductivity of pure PEO-based polymer electrolytes is limited due to high crystallinity and poor segment motion. An inorganic filler SiO2 nanospheres and a plasticizer Succinonitrile (SN) are introduced into the PEO matrix to improve the crystallization of PEO, promote the formation of amorphous region, and thus improve the movement of PEO chain segment. Herein, a PEO18−LiTFSI−5 %SiO2−5 %SN composite solid polymer electrolyte (CSPE) was prepared by solution-casting. The high ionic conductivity of the electrolyte was demonstrated at 60 °C up to 3.3×10−4 S cm−1. Meanwhile, the electrochemical performance of LiFePO4/CSPE/Li all-solid-state battery was tested, with discharge capacity of 157.5 mAh g−1 at 0.5 C, and capacity retention rate of 99 % after 100 cycles at 60 °C. This system provides a feasible strategy for the development of efficient all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries.  相似文献

Composite polymer electrolyte films comprising polyethylene oxide (PEO) as the polymer host, LiClO4 as the dopant, and NiO nanoparticle as the inorganic filler was prepared by solution casting technique. NiO inorganic filler was synthesized via sol-gel method. The effect of NiO filler on the ionic conductivity, structure, and morphology of PEO-LiClO4-based composite polymer electrolyte was investigated by AC impedance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. It was observed that the conductivity of the electrolyte increases with NiO concentration. The highest room temperature conductivity of the electrolyte was 7.4?×?10?4 S cm?1 at 10 wt.% NiO. The observation on structure shows the highest conductivity appears in amorphous phase. This result has been supported by surface morphology analysis showing that the NiO filler are well distributed in the samples. As a conclusion, the addition of NiO nanofiller improves the conductivity of PEO-LiClO4 composite polymer electrolyte.  相似文献

Poly(acetyl ethylene oxide acrylate‐co‐vinyl acetate) (P(AEOA‐VAc)) was synthesized and used as a host for lithium perchlorate to prepare an all solid polymer electrolyte. Introduction of carbonyl groups into the copolymer increased ionic conductivity. All solid polymer electrolytes based on P(AEOA‐VAc) at 14.3 wt% VAc with 12wt% LiClO4 showed conductivity as high as 1.2 × 10?4 S cm?1 at room temperature. The temperature dependence of the ionic conductivity followed the VTF behavior, indicating that the ion transport was related to segmental movement of the polymer. FTIR was used to investigate the effect of the carbonyl group on ionic conductivity. The interaction between the lithium salt and carbonyl groups accelerated the dissociation of the lithium salt and thus resulted in a maximum ionic conductivity at a salt concentration higher than pure PAEO‐salts system. Composite polymer electrolyte (CPE) films consisting of PEO, LiClO4, and Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 with fixed EO/Li = 8 but different relative compositions of the two lithium salts were prepared by the solution casting method. The CPE films were characterized using SEM, DSC, electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and ion transference number measurement. It was found that the incorporation of LiClO4 and Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 into PEO by keeping EO/Li = 8 reduced the crystallinity of PEO from 50.34% to the range of 3.57–15.63% depending upon the relative composition of the two salts. The room temperature impedance spectra of the CPE films all exhibited a shape of depressed semicircle in the high frequency range and inclined line in the low frequency range, but the high temperature ones were mainly inclined lines. The Li+ ionic conductivity of the CPE films mildly increased and then decreased with increasing Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 content, and the maximum conductivities were obtained at Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 content of 15 wt % for all measuring temperatures, for example, 1.378 × 10?3 S/cm at 100 °C and 1.387 × 10?5 S/cm at 25 °C. The temperature dependence of the ionic conductivity of the CPE films follows the Vogel–Tamman–Fulcher (VTF) equation The pseudo activation energies (Ea) were rather low, 0.053–0.062 eV, indicating an easy migration of Li+ in the amorphous phase dominant PEO. The pre‐exponent constant A and ion transference number tLi+ were found to have a similar variation tendency with increasing Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 content and reached their maximums also at Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 content of 15 wt %. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

Poly(2-vinylpyridine) (P2-VP) with uniform polyoxyethylene (PEO) grafts was synthesized using a macromer technique. 2-Vinylpyridine was copolymerized with PEO macromer in solution by using azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator. The effects of the amount of AIBN, the concentrations of 2-vinylpyridine and macromer, the number average molecular weight of macromer, and the charging ratio of macromer to 2-vinylpyridine in the copolymerization were studied. The copolymerization rate of the PEO macromer with 2-vinylpyridine was also investigated. The grafting efficiency reached about 56%. The crude graft copolymer was purified by extraction and precipitation, and it was characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, and Bruss membrane osmometry. The PEO grafts were doped with LiClO4 and showed ionic conductivity around 4.10 × 10?6S°Cm?1 at 25°C whereas the P2-VP main chains were complexed with TCNQ to obtain electronic conductivity around 5.50 × 10?6 S°Cm?1 at 25°C The mixed (ionic and electronic) conductivity of the doped copolymer could reach about 5.40 × 10?5 S°Cm?1 at 25°C and showed a synergistic effect.  相似文献

Optical waveguide spectroscopy was used under non-contact conditions to analyze the visible absorption spectrum of poly(ethylene oxide) (M w = 150) modified cytochrome c (PEO150-cyt.c) adsorbed on an indium tin oxide (ITO) glass electrode. The redox reactions of the adsorbed PEO150-cyt.c were dynamically measured in situ in PEO oligomers (M w = 200). It was confirmed that PEO modification of cyt.c is effective in maintaining the redox activity of the cyt.c after adsorption on the ITO glass electrode. The PEO150-cyt.c adsorbed on the electrode re-dissolved gradually in PEO oligomer. Against this, PEO1000-cyt.c having longer PEO chains (M w = 1000) was found to be adsorbed stably on the electrode. Polyethylene oxide (PEO)-polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) blended Na+ ion conducting solid polymeric membranes: (1?x) [75PEO:25NaPO3] + x PVP, where 0 < x < 12 wt%, are reported. The polymeric blending was done using a solventfree hot-press method. Two orders of conductivity enhancement (σ ca. 1.07 × 10?5 S·cm?1) have been achieved with 3 wt% of PVP (i.e. the composition: [97(75PEO:25NaPO3) + 3PVP]), from that of the pure host: (75PEO:25NaPO3). The conductivity enhancement in PEO-PVP blended solid polymeric membranes have been explained by the ionic conductivity, ionic mobility and mobile ion concentration measurements. Materials characterization and polymer-salt complexation were done with the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) studies. The temperature dependent conductivity studies have also been done to compute the activation energy (E a) values from lg σ1/T Arrhenius plots. A solid state polymeric battery was fabricated by using optimum conducting composition of solid polymer electrolyte (SPE OCC), and some important cell parameters were also calculated from the discharge profile of the cell.  相似文献
