Composite Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coatings were prepared by simultaneous electroless deposition of Ni–P and nano‐TiO2 on a low carbon steel substrate. The deposition was carried out from stirred solutions containing suspended nano‐TiO2 particles. The Ni–P and Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coatings before and after heat treatment were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. The micro‐structural morphologies of the coatings significantly varied with the nano‐TiO2 content. The corrosion resistance of as‐plated and heat‐treated Ni–P and Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coatings was investigated by anodic polarization, Tafel plots and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) studies in 3.5% NaCl solution. Ni–P/nano‐TiO2 coating exhibited superior corrosion resistance over Ni–P coating. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Nanocomposite Zn–Ag2S/TiO2 and Zn–TiO2 films were prepared by pulsed current electrolysis from acidic zinc sulphate solutions on a titanium substrate. The influence of the nanoparticles' nature on the structural and morphological characteristics of the metallic electrodeposit was also investigated. The electrodeposits were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Using transmission electron microscopy, it was possible to conclude that the chemical treatment applied to the commercial TiO2 particles promotes the formation of Ag2S/TiO2 composite nanoparticles, with Ti, Ag, S and O in its composition. This was also was confirmed by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. These particles absorb visible light radiation which makes them promising materials for photoelectrocatalytic processes. Moreover, the modification in nanoparticle composition plays a remarkable influence on the coating morphology and Zn crystallite size. When TiO2 is added, a change of Zn texture was observed along with a decrease in crystallite size. In contrast, the metal matrix nanocomposites prepared with Ag2S/TiO2 exhibit a spongy Zn morphology with a lower average Zn crystallite size. The nanocomposite films were tested in the photoelectrodegradation of ibuprofen and the best results were obtained for Zn–Ag2S/ TiO2 photoelectrodes.  相似文献

The synthesis of Zn‐doped TiO2 nanoparticles by solgel method was investigated in this study, as well as its modification by H2O2. The catalyst was characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller, UV–visible reflectance spectra and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results indicated that doping Zn into TiO2 nanoparticles could inhibit the transformation from anatase phase to rutile phase. Zn existed as the second valence oxidation state in the Zn‐doped TiO2. Zn‐doped TiO2 that was synthesized by 5% Zn doping at 450°C exhibited the best photocatalytic activity. Then, the H2O2 modification further enhanced the photocatalytic activity. Zn doping and H2O2 modifying narrowed the band gap and efficiently increased the optical absorption in visible region. The optimal degradation rate of tetracycline by Zn‐doped TiO2 and H2O2 modified Zn‐doped TiO2 was 85.27% and 88.14%. Peroxide groups were detected in XPS analysis of H2O2 modified Zn‐doped TiO2, favoring the adsorption of visible light. Furthermore, Zn‐doped TiO2 modified by H2O2 had relatively good reusability, exhibiting a potential practical application for tetracycline's photocatalytic degradation.  相似文献

The present work reports the results obtained for the electrodeposition of composite Zn coatings on steel by using Ti and Ce oxides nanopowders, separately or in mixture, and a TiO2·CeO2 binary oxide. In an attempt to correlate the effects of nanoparticles on corrosion behavior of the composite deposits, the properties of Zn–TiO2·CeO2 layers were compared with those referring to similar coatings prepared by using a simple mixture of the two oxides or individual oxides. Corrosion measurements were performed in 0.2 g?L?1 Na2SO4 solution (pH?=?5). The results of electrochemical measurements (open circuit potential measurements, polarization curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) were corroborated with those obtained by using X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and salt spray tests. The results indicate that the composite Zn–(TiO2?+?CeO2) coatings exhibit the highest corrosion resistance from all investigated Zn coatings.  相似文献

In this study, TiO2–ZnO nanostructured films prepared from different Ti/water mole ratios were deposited on glass plates by a sol–gel dip-coating method. The structural and surface properties, adherence, and photoactivity of synthesized TiO2–ZnO coatings in methylene blue degradation were investigated. Among the as-prepared TiO2–ZnO coatings from sols with different Ti/water mole ratios (1, 0.66, 0.5, and 0.4), the highest sol concentration (Ti/water mole ratio of 1) showed the highest methylene blue photodegradation of almost 80% after 400 min of UV irradiation. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) confirmed that at high sol concentrations (Ti/water mole ratios of 1 and 0.66), a mixed phase of anatase and rutile is formed, whereas at a Ti/water mole ratio of 0.5, just pure rutile is formed. In detail, decreasing the sol concentration increases the cracks, degree of agglomeration, and the thickness of coatings. UV-vis DRS studies also confirm that decreasing the sol concentration in synthesized TiO2–ZnO films leads to a shift in the absorption region of the coating to the UV region. Moreover, decreasing the sol concentration declines the coating adherence onto glass plates. TEM images of the TiO2–ZnO coating synthesized from sol with a Ti/water mole ratio of 1 revealed the formation of ZnO nanorods around a spherical TiO2, which indicates the presence of strong interaction between TiO2 and ZnO nanoparticles. The TiO2–ZnO coating synthesized from sol with a Ti/water mole ratio of 1 was then evaluated at different methylene blue concentrations, pH values, and number of coatings. After five consecutive runs, no significant decrease in the photodegradation efficiency was observed. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) picture of used coating showed a smooth and stable layer without any detachment. Thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and sonication test confirmed thermal and mechanical stabilities of this coating as well.  相似文献

A hollow carbon nanofiber hybrid nanostructure anchored with titanium dioxide (HCNF@TiO2) was prepared as a matrix for effective trapping of sulfur and polysulfides as a cathode material for Li–S batteries. The synthesized composites were characterized and examined by X‐ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption–desorption measurements, field‐emission scanning electron microscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy, and electrochemical methods such as galvanostatic charge/discharge, rate performance, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests. The obtained HCNF@TiO2–S composite showed a clear core–shell structure with TiO2 nanoparticles coating the surface of the HCNF and sulfur homogeneously distributed in the coating layer. The HCNF@TiO2–S composite exhibited much better electrochemical performance than the HCNF–S composite, which delivered an initial discharge capacity of 1040 mA h g?1 and maintained 650 mAh g?1 after 200 cycles at a 0.5 C rate. The improvements of electrochemical performances might be attributed to the unique hybrid nanostructure of HCNF@TiO2 and good dispersion of sulfur in the HCNF@TiO2–S composite.  相似文献

Two kinds of biocompatible coatings were produced in order to improve the corrosion resistance of nickel titanium (NiTi) alloy. A titanium oxide–titanium (TiO2–Ti) composite was coated on NiTi alloy using electrophoretic method. After the coating process, the samples were heat‐treated at 1000 °C in two tube furnaces, the first one in argon atmosphere and the second one in nitrogen atmosphere at 1000 °C. The morphology and phase analysis of coatings were investigated using scanning electron microscopy and X‐ray diffraction analysis, respectively. The electrochemical behavior of the NiTi and coated samples was examined using polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests. Electrochemical tests in simulated body fluid demonstrated a considerable increase in corrosion resistance of composite‐coated NiTi specimens compared to the non‐coated one. The heat‐treated composite coating sample in nitrogen atmosphere had a higher level of corrosion resistance compared to the heat‐treated sample in argon atmosphere, which is mainly due to having nitride phases. Composite nano‐TiO2 with doping Fe3+ and Ag was prepared, and further modified by 3‐methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane. They were characterized by Zetasizer Nano ZS Particle and Zeta Potential Analyzer, X‐ray diffraction, UV–Vis spectrophotometer, FT–IR spectra, and transmission electron microscopy. The modified composite nano‐TiO2 was applied to prepare multifunctional fluorocarbon coatings (FCC). Antibacterial activity of multifunctional FCC containing modified composite nano‐TiO2 was investigated. Its photocatalytic antibacterial activity reached 92%. The influence of doping ingredients, amount of composite nano‐TiO2, different light houses, or surface modification was discussed. The surface of FCC cannot be easily smirched by oiliness, dust or water because of hydrophobic fluorosilicone emulsion. It would be an available modern interior building coating for its remarkable photocatalytic antibacterial property as well as self‐cleaning function. Atomic‐layer deposition (ALD) is a thin‐film growth technology that allows for conformal growth of thin films with atomic‐level control over their thickness. Although ALD is successful in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, its feasibility for nanoparticle coating has been less explored. Herein, the ALD coating of TiO2 layers on ZnO nanoparticles by employing a specialized rotary reactor is demonstrated. The photocatalytic activity and photostability of ZnO nanoparticles coated with TiO2 layers by ALD and chemical methods were examined by the photodegradation of Rhodamine B dye under UV irradiation. Even though the photocatalytic activity of the presynthesized ZnO nanoparticles is higher than that of commercial P25 TiO2 nanoparticles, their activity tends to decline due to severe photocorrosion. The chemically synthesized TiO2 coating layer on ZnO resulted in severely declined photoactivity despite the improved photostability. However, ultrathin and conformal ALD TiO2 coatings (≈0.75–1.5 nm) on ZnO improved its photostability without degradation of photocatalytic activity. Surprisingly, the photostability is comparable to that of pure TiO2, and the photocatalytic activity to that of pure ZnO.  相似文献

Amorphous TiO2-coated ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by the solvothermal synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles in ethanol and the followed by sol-gel coating of TiO2 nanolayer. The analyses of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the resultant ZnO nanoparticles were hexagonal with a wurtzite structure and a mean diameter of about 60 nm. Also, after TiO2 coating, the TEM images clearly indicated the darker ZnO nanoparticles being surrounded by the lighter amorphous TiO2 layers. The zeta potential analysis revealed the pH dependence of zeta potentials for ZnO nanoparticles shifted completely to that for TiO2 nanoparticles after TiO2 coating, confirming the formation of core-shell structure and suggesting the coating of TiO2 was achieved via the adhesion of the hydrolyzed species Ti-O to the positively charged surface of ZnO nanoparticles. Furthermore, the analyses of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectra were also conducted to confirm that amorphous TiO2 were indeed coated on the surface of ZnO nanoparticles. In addition, the analyses of ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) and photoluminescence (PL) spectra revealed that the absorbance of amorphous TiO2-coated ZnO nanoparticles at 375 nm gradually decreased with an increase in the Ti/Zn molar ratio and the time for TiO2 coating, and the emission intensity of ZnO cores could be significantly enhanced by the amorphous TiO2 shell.  相似文献

The effect of the number and arrangement of TiO2‐based photoanode layers on the efficiency of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) was investigated. Compact, mesoporous, and blocking layers of TiO2 were prepared to form monolayer, bilayer, and trilayer photoanodes. Compact and blocking TiO2 layers were prepared using dip‐coating technique, whereas the doctor‐blade method was employed to prepare TiO2 paste layers using nanoparticles prepared by the sol–gel method. The crystalline structure of photoanodes was characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) measurements and their morphology and thickness were characterized by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) technique. The photovoltaic performance of constructed DSSC devices was investigated and the optimum arrangement was identified and explained in terms of dye loading enhancement and recombination reduction at the fluorine‐doped tin oxide (FTO)/electrolyte interface.  相似文献

Electrodeposited zinc–nickel alloy coatings have been widely adopted for surface treatment of automobile body steel sheet for high corrosion resistance. The corrosion behavior of the coatings has been related with the components of nickel, and the zinc–nickel alloy passive coatings have much higher corrosion resistance than that of zinc–nickel alloy coatings. In the present paper, the corrosion resistance behavior of the zinc–nickel alloy coatings obtained by new process and formulation has been studied by means of the electrochemistry test and neutral salt spray test. And it is discovered that the properties of corrosion resistance of zinc–nickel alloy passive coatings were better than that of zinc passive coatings, Cadmium passive coatings and alloys of electrodeposited cadmium–titanium. The components of corrosion productions, in terms of X‐ray diffraction (XRD), are mainly ZnO, ZnCl2 · 4Zn(OH)2 and small quantity of 2ZnCO3· 3Zn(OH)2. The component of zinc–nickel alloy coatings has been investigated with Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectrometry (GDA‐750). And it is found that as the thickness of zinc–nickel alloy coatings increases, the component of zinc increases from beginning to end, but the peak value of nickel appears and an enrichment of nickel in the coatings comes into being. Because the electrodeposited zinc–nickel alloy coatings exhibit different alloy phases as a function of their alloy composition, in this paper, the crystal structure changing with the different component of nickel has been studied in terms of XRD. The result shows that electrodeposited zinc–nickel alloy has different phases: α‐phase, a solid solution of zinc in nickel with an equilibrium solubility of about more than 79% nickel; γ‐phase, an intermediate phase with a composition Ni5Zn21; η‐phase, a solid solution of nickel in zinc with less than 5% nickel; and δ‐phase (Ni3Zn22) appeared from η‐phase to α‐phase with increasing content of nickel. A novel microphase‐inversion method was proposed for the preparation of TiO2–SiO2/poly(methyl methacrylate) core–shell nanocomposite particles. The inorganic–polymer nanocomposites were first synthesized via a free‐radical copolymerization in a tetrahydrofuran solution, and the poor solvent was added slowly to induce the microphase separation of the nanocomposite and result in the formation of nanoparticles. The average particle sizes of the microspheres ranged from 70 to 1000 nm, depending on the reaction conditions. Transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy indicated a core–shell morphology for the obtained microspheres. Thermogravimetric analysis and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements confirmed that the surface of the nanocomposite microspheres was polymer‐rich, and this was consistent with the core–shell morphology. The influence of the synthetic conditions, such as the inorganic composition and the content of the crosslinking monomer, on the particle properties was studied in detail. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Al2O3, Al2O3/Al and Al2O3–Al graded coatings were fabricated on China low activation martensitic steel and silicon substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. The coating composition and cross‐section morphologies were investigated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy and field‐emission scanning electron microscopy. The mechanical properties of the coatings were studied using nanoindentation, wafer‐curvature measurements and microscratch tests. The results show that usable Al2O3–Al graded coatings could be fabricated. With a more continuous compositional gradient, the interface zone was more compact. The hardness and elastic modulus of Al2O3–Al graded coatings were less than those of Al2O3 coatings, but greater than those of Al2O3/Al coatings. After annealing at 773 K for 3 h, the hardness of Al2O3–Al graded coating showed a small increase. The residual stresses in Al2O3–Al graded coatings declined to about 0.3 GPa, compared with the 6.6 GPa for Al2O3 coating. The adhesion of Al2O3 was improved by deposition of Al or Al compositional gradient oxide layers. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Since textiles have a porous and hydrophilic structure, they are ideal substrates for the settlement and growth of pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, fabrication of hydrophobic textiles to reduce their humidity has the potential to inhibit the growth of bacteria. On this basis, we report here an improvement of the antibacterial capability of textiles coated with TiO2–SiO2/chitosan using hydrophobization. Synthesis of TiO2–SiO2 clusters with chitosan was carried out using the sol–gel technique. In addition, hydrophobization of the textiles using hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS) was carried out using a dip‐spin coating method. In addition, their characteristics were examined using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra (UV‐DRS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), water contact angle, and antibacterial activity. XRD, SEM, UV‐DRS, FTIR, and water contact angle confirmed the physical and chemical properties of the modified textiles. In summary, the present work shows that the hydrophobization of textiles using HDTMS can enhance the antibacterial capability of cotton textiles.  相似文献

We demonstrate the multiple plasmonic effect on the photocurrent properties of photoanodes containing Ag or Au nanoparticles (NPs) loaded onto titanium dioxide film (Ag–TiO2 or Au–TiO2) on Au grating surfaces. Ag–TiO2 or Au–TiO2 nanocomposite particles are prepared by a flame spray pyrolysis route. The structures and morphologies of the prepared products are characterized by high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy. The Ag–TiO2 or Au–TiO2 composite NPs are deposited by spin coating onto the Au grating surfaces. The photoanode electrode is a layered structure of blu‐ray disc‐recordable grating substrate/Au/Ag (or Au)–TiO2/dye/electrolyte/indium‐tin oxide. The plasmonic effect is induced when Ag or Au NPs are located within the propagating surface plasmon (SP) field on the Au grating surface. The short‐circuit photocurrent is increased by exciting the grating‐coupled propagating SP on the Au gratings and is further enhanced by positioning the Ag or Au NPs within the grating‐coupled SP field. In this study, the copper sulfide nanoparticles (CuS‐NPs) and the zinc oxide/zinc hydroxide nanoparticles ((ZnO/Zn(OH)2‐NPs) were synthesized by a simple and low‐cost method, and the synthesized nanoparticles were characterized and identified by UV–Vis, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X‐ray diffraction (XRD). The antimicrobial activity of the CuS‐NPs and the ZnO/Zn(OH)2‐NPs were examined by broth dilution to determine the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of antibacterial agent required to inhibit the growth of a pathogen and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) required to kill a particular bacterium. Agar disc diffusion method was used to determine the zone of inhibition. The nanoparticles demonstrated potent antibacterial activity against Klebsiella pneumonia (ATCC 1827), Acinetobacter baumannii (ATCC 150504), Escherichia coli (ATCC 33218) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25293). Antifungal activity against Aspergillus oryzae (PTCC 5164) was also obtained. The data obtained from antimicrobial activities by broth dilution and agar disc diffusion methods exhibited the CuS‐NPs were more effective than the ZnO/Zn(OH)2‐NPs. A good correlation was observed between the data obtained by both methods.  相似文献

This paper reports on a novel processing route for producing ZnO nanoparticles by solid-state thermal decomposition of zinc(II) acetate nanostructures obtained by the sublimation of zinc(II) acetate powder. The sublimation process of the Zn(OAc)2 powder was carried out in the temperature 150 °C for 2 h. In addition, nanoparticles of ZnO were obtained by solid-state thermal decomposition of the synthesized Zn(OAc)2 nanostructures. The synthesized products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The sublimation process of the Zn(OAc)2 powder was carried out within the range of 150–180 °C. The XRD studies indicated the production of pure hexagonal ZnO nanoparticles after thermal decomposition.  相似文献

We report a new, unique process for the design of poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA )‐based hybrid materials, which involves the coating of PHEMA on TiO2 and TiO2 /Ag nanoparticle surface under visible light. New hybrid materials initiated under different conditions were prepared under visible light, which could be used for the theoretical design of nanohybrid materials. The hybrid materials thus prepared were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR ), transmission electron microscopy (TEM ), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA ). The experimental results confirmed the successful synthesis of TiO2–PHEMA hybrid materials. Compared to other methods, the method reported here involving the direct combination of PHEMA on the TiO2 surface was simply catalyzed by visible light without the addition of initiators.  相似文献

New thin film composite (TFC) membrane was prepared via coating of Pebax on PSf‐PES blend membrane as support, and its application in wastewater treatment was investigated. To modify this membrane, hydrophilic TiO2 nanoparticles were coated on its surface at different loadings via dip coating technique. The as‐prepared membrane was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission SEM, and contact angle analysis. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis and surface SEM images indicated that TiO2 was successfully coated on the membrane surface. In addition, the results stated that the hydrophilicity and roughness of membrane surface increased by addition of TiO2 nanoparticles. Performance of TFC and modified TFC membranes was evaluated through humic acid removal from aqueous solution. Maximum permeate flux and humic acid rejection were obtained at 0.03 and 0.01 wt% TiO2 loadings, respectively. Rejection was enhanced from 96.38% to 98.92% by the increase of feed concentration from 10 to 30 ppm. Additionally, membrane antifouling parameters at different pressures and feed concentration were determined. The results indicated that surface modification of membranes could be an effective method for improvement of membrane antifouling property.  相似文献
