Time delay as a key to apoptosis induction in the p53 network

A feedback mechanism that involves the proteins p53 and mdm2, induces cell death as a controlled response to severe DNA damage. A minimal model for this mechanism demonstrates that the response may be dynamic and connected with the time needed to translate the mdm2 protein. The response takes place if the dissociation constant k between p53 and mdm2 varies from its normal value. Although it is widely believed that it is an increase in k that triggers the response, we show that the experimental behaviour is better described by a decrease in the dissociation constant. The response is quite robust upon changes in the parameters of the system, as required by any control mechanism, except for few weak points, which could be connected with the onset of cancer. 着重分析了影响光纤传输能量以及光纤传输中造成能量损耗的因素。这些因素主要包括光纤材料、构造、光纤的折射率分布、光纤的长度和芯径、光纤的数值孔径和热效应以及耦合等。同时 ,结合激光二极管点火的实例 ,分析探讨了其背景和应用价值。结论是 :为了尽可能减少能量损耗、提高光纤输出的激光功率和激光功率密度 ,应当选取合适的激光工作波长、较小的光纤长度、较小的芯径和较小的数值孔径 ,应采用渐变折射率分布光纤 ,应减少弯曲与耦合     

Study of an identity

We solve the word problem of the identity x(yz) = (xy)(yz) by investigating a certain group describing the geometry of that identity. Fiber torsion sensor demodulated by a high-birefringence fiber Bragg grating

A new high-birefringence (Hi-Bi) fiber torsion sensor demodulated by a Hi-Bi fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed in this study. The twisted Hi-Bi fiber sensor characteristics are analyzed using the Jones matrix. The intensity ratio from two reflected Bragg wavelengths is associated with the twist angle of the measured Hi-Bi fiber. It is found that the twist angle resolution is estimated at around 0.3° under ±0.1 dB readout from an optical spectrum analyzer if the polarization state of the light source is stable. The advantages of this new torsion sensor are: (1) insensitivity to intensity variations from the light source, (2) insensitivity to the torsion gauge length, and (3) absolute measurement in the twist angle. However, the polarization state of light in the proposed method needs to be controlled, and any birefringence change in the twisted Hi-Bi fiber needs to be prevented.     

光纤光栅激光器激射波长的研究

一般认为，用光纤光栅作选频元件的光纤激光器，激射波长与光纤光栅中心反射波长一致，本文报道了不同的实验研究结果。通过细致的实验研究，发现光纤光栅激光器激射波长相对于光纤光栅中心反射波长有一定的偏移。激射波长可以出现在光栅中心反射波长的长波端，也可以出现在其短波端。对不同腔结构的掺镱、掺铒光纤光栅激光器的深入研究证明，谐振腔的各向异性对激光器的激射波长偏移起到决定性的作用，波长最大偏移量主要受限于光纤光栅的反射带宽。通过激光腔内的偏振控制器改变谐振腔的各向异性，可以在光纤光栅的反射带宽内控制激射波长的位置。     

Polytetrafluoroethylene and metal structure convective-flow CO laser

A convective flow CO laser composed of polytetrafluoroethylene discharge tubes, nickel–chromium steel components, a cupric heat exchanger and other components is described. Operating in liquid nitrogen condition, output power of 60 W has been obtained from a non-selective cavity.     

Interference of probabilities and number field structure of quantum models

We study the probabilistic consequences of the choice of the basic number field in the quantum formalism. We demonstrate that by choosing a number field for a linear space representation of quantum model it is possible to describe various interference phenomena. We analyse interference of probabilistic alternatives induced by real, complex, hyperbolic (Clifford) and p‐adic representations.
