Stability of steady nonisothermal flow in a vertical layer with permeable boundaries in the microconvection model

The problem of the stability of steady convective viscous incompressible fluid flow in a vertical layer with boundaries at different temperatures is considered in the presence of transverse blowing through the layer. The complete spectral problem is solved for a silicon melt. The neutral curve is constructed and the critical Grashof number is found. The numerical calculations show that the presence of transverse blowing significantly affects the flow stability. As compared with the Oberbeck-Boussinesq model, in the microconvection model the instability develops at lower wavenumbers.

Equisingular Deformations of Sandwiched Singularities

We relate the equisingular deformation theory of plane curve singularities and sandwiched surface singularities. We show the existence of a smooth map between the two corresponding deformation functors and study the kernel of this map. In particular we show that the map is an isomorphism when a certain invariant is large enough.     

Computing Zeta Functions of Kummer Curves via Multiplicative Characters

We present a practical polynomial-time algorithm for computing the zeta function of a Kummer curve over a finite field of small characteristic. Such algorithms have recently been obtained using a method of Kedlaya based upon Monsky–Washnitzer cohomology, and are of interest in cryptography. We take a different approach. The problem is reduced to that of computing the L-function of a multiplicative character sum. This latter task is achieved via a cohomological formula based upon the work of Dwork and Reich. We show, however, that our method and that of Kedlaya are very closely related.Dedicated to the memory of Gian-Carlo Rota

A numerical study of time-dependent schr?dinger equation for multiphoton vibrational interaction of NO molecule, modelled as Morse oscillator, with intense far-infrared femtosecond lasers

For the NO molecule, modelled as a Morse oscillator, time-dependent (TD) nuclear Schr?dinger equation has been numerically solved for the multiphoton vibrational dynamics of the molecule under a far-infrared laser of wavelength 10503 nm, and four different intensities,I = 1 × 10⁸, 1 × 10¹³, 5 × 10¹⁶, and 5 × 10¹⁸ W cm⁻² respectively. Starting from the vibrational ground state at zero time, various TD quantities such as the norm, dissociation probability, potential energy curve and dipole moment are examined. Rich high-harmonics generation (HHG) spectra and above-threshold dissociation (ATD) spectra, due to the multiphoton interaction of vibrational motions with the laser field, and consequent elevation to the vibrational continuum, have been obtained and analysed. Isomorphisms of fiber spaces over Teichmüller spaces

We will be mainly concerned with some important fiber spaces over Teichmuller spaces, including the Bers fiber space and Teichmuller curve, establishing an isomorphism theorem between "punctured" Teichmuller curves and determining the biholomorphic isomorphisms of these fiber spaces.
