Exact boundary observability for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations

By means of a direct and constructive method based on the theory of semi‐global C² solution, the local exact boundary observability and an implicit duality between the exact boundary controllability and the exact boundary observability are shown for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations with various boundary conditions. Titanium nanocarbides: Synthesis and modeling

The present state of research on the production and modeling of nanostructures based on titanium carbide-a typical representative of an extensive class of carbides of d-and f-metals-is reviewed. Methods for the synthesis of various Ti-C nanostructures (molecular clusters, nanocrystallites, nanospheres, nanofibers, nanowires) are examined, and their morphology, atomic structure, and known physicochemical characteristics are described. Theoretical models of the atomic structure and properties of new types of nanostructures in the titanium-carbon system (endo-and exohedral titanofullerenes, “hybrid” structures based on carbon nanotubes, the so-called peapods, nanocables, and a number of others) and the prospects for their application as components of nanoceramics, hydrogen accumulators, materials for spintronics, etc. are discussed. __________ Translated from Teoreticheskaya i éksperimental’naya Khimiya, Vol. 43, No. 1, pp. 1–23, January–February, 2007.     

一类二阶三点边值问题单调正解的存在性

利用范数形式的锥上不动点定理,研究了一类二阶微分方程三点边值问题单调正解的存在性．分别给出了齐次和非齐次边界条件下的三点边值问题单调正解存在的充分条件,确定了解曲线的凹凸性,并且给出了一个应用实例．     

Degradative chain transfer in vinyl acetate polymerizations using toluene as solvent

In this work, we propose that retardation in vinyl acetate polymerization rate in the presence of toluene is due to degradative chain transfer. The transfer constant to toluene (C_trs) determined using the Mayo method is equal to 3.8 × 10^?3, which is remarkably similar to the value calculated from the rate data, assuming degradative chain transfer (2.7 × 10^?3). Simulations, including chain‐length‐dependent termination, were carried out to compare our degradative chain transfer model with experimental results. The conversion–time profiles showed excellent agreement between experiment and simulation. Good agreement was found for the M_n data as a function of conversion. The experimental and simulation data strongly support the postulate that degradative chain transfer is the dominant kinetic mechanism. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 该文考虑两点边值问题[1/q(t)][q(t)y′(t)]′+p(t)f(y(t))= 0,λ_1 y(α)-λ_2y′(α)=0 and y(β)=B非负解的存在性, 其中p(t)可能在t=α或t=β附近具有奇异性, f(0)≥0, lim_(y→+∞)f(y)/y=+∞, 并且存在y>0, 使得f(y)<0.      

脉冲微分方程的上、下解及其在常微分方程上的应用

In this paper, we establish the existence of upper and lower solutions for a periodic boundary value problems (PBVP for short) of impulsive differential equations. which guarantees the existence of at least one solution for the problem. As an application, these results are applied to PBVP of ODE and some examples are given to illustrate our results.

ON THE SINGULAR DIRECTIONS OF VALUE DISTRIBUTION OF HOLOMORPHIC CURVES IN P^n（C）

This article proves the existence of singular directions of value distribution theory for some transcendental holomorphic curves in the n-dimensional complex projective space Pn(C). An example is given to complement these results.     

Fourth-order problems with fully nonlinear boundary conditions

Differential inequality method, bounding function method and topological degree are applied to obtain the existence criterions of at least one solution for the general fourth-order differential equations under nonlinear boundary conditions, and many existing results are complemented.
