Let U n be an n × n Haar unitary matrix. In this paper, the asymptotic normality and independence of Tr U n , Tr U n 2 ,..., Tr U n k are shown by using elementary methods. More generally, it is shown that the renormalized truncated Haar unitaries converge to a Gaussian random matrix in distribution. Let Um be an m×m Haar unitary matrix and U[m,n] be its n×n truncation. In this paper the large deviation is proven for the empirical eigenvalue density of U[m,n] as m/nλ and n→∞. The rate function and the limit distribution are given explicitly. U[m,n] is the random matrix model of quq, where u is a Haar unitary in a finite von Neumann algebra, q is a certain projection and they are free. The limit distribution coincides with the Brown measure of the operator quq.  相似文献

We show that the mixing times of random walks on compact groups can be used to obtain concentration inequalities for the respective Haar measures. As an application, we derive a concentration inequality for the empirical distribution of eigenvalues of sums of random Hermitian matrices, with possible applications in free probability. The advantage over existing techniques is that the new method can deal with functions that are non-Lipschitz or even discontinuous with respect to the usual metrics.  相似文献

We prove concentration results for ?pn operator norms of rectangular random matrices and eigenvalues of self-adjoint random matrices. The random matrices we consider have bounded entries which are independent, up to a possible self-adjointness constraint. The existence of homeomorphisms establishign an isometry of normalized Haar measures on (metrizable) compact groups is studied. In the case of 0-dimensional groups, a complete answer is given in terms of the indices of open normal subgroups. For example, for the countable powers of the groups ℤ/(m) and ℤ/(n), the answer is affirmative if and only ifm andn have the same prime divisors. In this paper we consider the Haar wavelet on weighted Herz spaces. Our weight class, whose name is Ap-dyadic local, is the one defined by the first author (2007). We shall investigate the class of Ap-dyadic weights in connection with the maximal inequalities. After obtaining the properties of weights in the first half of the present paper, we consider the Haar wavelet on weighted Herz spaces in the latter half. We shall show that the Haar wavelet basis is an unconditional basis. We also show that the Haar wavelet is not greedy except for the trivial case, that is, the Haar wavelet is greedy if and only if the Herz space under consideration is a weighted Lp space.  相似文献

We study the difference of two orthogonal projectors induced by compact groups of linear operators acting on a vector space. An upper bound for the difference is derived using the Haar measures of the groups. A particular attention is paid to finite groups. Some applications are given for complex matrices and unitarily invariant norms. Majorization inequalities of Fan and Hoffmann and of Causey are rediscovered.  相似文献

An exchangeable random matrix is a random matrix with distribution invariant under any permutation of the entries. For such random matrices, we show, as the dimension tends to infinity, that the empirical spectral distribution tends to the uniform law on the unit disc. This is an instance of the universality phenomenon known as the circular law, for a model of random matrices with dependent entries, rows, and columns. It is also a non‐Hermitian counterpart of a result of Chatterjee on the semi‐circular law for random Hermitian matrices with exchangeable entries. The proof relies in particular on a reduction to a simpler model given by a random shuffle of a rigid deterministic matrix, on hermitization, and also on combinatorial concentration of measure and combinatorial Central Limit Theorem. A crucial step is a polynomial bound on the smallest singular value of exchangeable random matrices, which may be of independent interest. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Random Struct. We develop a tool to approximate the entries of a large dimensional complex Jacobi ensemble with independent complex Gaussian random variables. Based on this and the author’s earlier work in this direction, we obtain the Tracy–Widom law of the largest singular values of the Jacobi emsemble. Moreover, the circular law, the Marchenko–Pastur law, the central limit theorem, and the laws of large numbers for the spectral norms are also obtained.  相似文献

The estimation of various matrix integrals as the size of the matrices goes to infinity is motivated by theoretical physics, geometry and free probability questions. On a rigorous ground, only integrals of one matrix or of several matrices with simple quadratic interaction (called AB interaction) could be evaluated so far (see e.g. [19], [17] or [9]). In this article, we follow an idea widely developed in the physics literature, which is based on character expansion, to study more complex interaction. In this context, we derive a large deviation principle for the empirical measure of Young tableaux. We then use it to study a matrix model defined in the spirit of the ‘dually weighted graph model’ introduced in [13], but with a cutoff function such that the matrix integral and its character expansion converge. We prove that the free energy of this model converges as the size of the matrices goes to infinity and study the critical points of the limit.  相似文献

A Large Deviation Principle (LDP) for the free energy of random Gibbs measures is proved in the form of a general LDP for random log-Laplace integrals. The principle is then applied to an extended version of the Random Energy Model (REM). The rate of exponential decay for the classical REM is stronger than the known concentration exponent, and probabilities of negative deviations are super-exponentially small.  相似文献

This paper introduces the application of Haar wavelets to the optimal control synthesis for linear time-varying systems. Based upon some useful properties of Haar wavelets, a special product matrix, a related coefficient matrix, and an operational matrix of backward integration are proposed to solve the adjoint equation of optimization. The results obtained by the proposed Haar approach are almost the same as those obtained by the conventional Riccati method.  相似文献

New transportation cost inequalities are derived by means of elementary large deviation reasonings. Their dual characterization is proved; this provides an extension of a well-known result of S. Bobkov and F. Götze. Their tensorization properties are investigated. Sufficient conditions (and necessary conditions too) for these inequalities are stated in terms of the integrability of the reference measure. Applying these results leads to new deviation results: concentration of measure and deviations of empirical processes.  相似文献
