Solvability of Unilateral Parabolic Problems and Variational Inequalities

Sufficient conditions are given for the existence of solutions of strong parabolic variational inequalities with nonlinear and multi-valued operators. Pseudomonotone operators are used. A new multi-valued analogue of the acute-angle lemma is used for the localization. The theory can be applied to problems with distributed parameters. We also consider conditions for the existence of strong generalized solutions of parabolic equations with unilateral boundary conditions with applications to control problems.__________Translated from Trudy Seminara imeni I. On the Index of Solvability for Variational Inequalities in Banach Spaces

We define the index of solvability, a topological characteristic, whose difference from zero provides the existence of a solution for variational inequalities of Stampacchia’s type with S ⁺-type and pseudo-monotone multimaps on reflexive separable Banach spaces. Some applications to a minimization problem and to a problem of economical dynamics are presented. Global Approximation of Solutions of Time-Dependent Variational Inequalities

We consider a class of parametric variational inequalities where both the operator and the convex set depend on time. This kind of variational inequalities are useful to model many time dependent equilibrium problems. We study the Lipschitz continuity of the solutions with respect to the time parameter and construct approximations for them which minimize the average worst case error. Some improved estimates of the Lipschitz constant for this class of problems are given. In order to illustrate our procedure, we study a classical network equilibrium problem.

On the Local Uniqueness of Solutions of Variational Inequalities Under H-Differentiability

In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions for the local uniqueness of solutions to nonsmooth variational inequalities where the underlying functions are H-differentiable and the underlying set is a closed convex set/polyhedral set/box/polyhedral cone. We show how the solution of a linearized variational inequality is related to the solution of the variational inequality. These results extend/unify various similar results proved for C ¹ and locally Lipschitzian variational inequality problems. When specialized to the nonlinear complementarity problem, our results extend/unify those of C ² and C ¹ nonlinear complementarity problems.     

Global Projection-Type Error Bounds for General Variational Inequalities

In this paper, we provide global projection-type error bounds for general variational inequalities under certain conditions. These error bounds can be viewed as extensions of previously known results.     

The Fréchet Approximate Jacobian and Local Uniqueness in Variational Inequalities

We introduce the concept of Fréchet approximate Jacobian matrices for continuous vector functions and use it to establish some sufficient criteria for the local uniqueness of solutions to a variational inequality problem involving continuous, not necessarily locally Lipschitz functions. Examples are also given to illustrate the usefulness of our approach.     

A Class of Iterative Algorithms and Solvability of Nonlinear Variational Inequalities Involving Multivalued Mappings

The solvability of the following class of nonlinear variational inequality (NVI) problems based on a class of iterative procedures, which possess an equivalence to a class of projection formulas, is presented.Determine an element x ^* K and u ^* T(x ^*) such that u ^*, x – x ^* 0 for all x K where T: K P(H) is a multivalued mapping from a real Hilbert space H into P(H), the power set of H, and K is a nonempty closed convex subset of H. The iterative procedure adopted here is represented by a nonlinear variational inequality: for arbitrarily chosen initial points x ⁰, y ⁰ K, u ⁰ T(y ⁰) and v ⁰ T(x ⁰), we have u ^k + x ^k+1 – y ^k , x – x ^k+1 0, x K, for u ^k T(y ^k ) and for k 0where v ^k + y ^k – x ^k , x – y ^k 0, x K and for v ^k T(x ^k ).

Solvability of Variational Inequality Problems

This paper presents the new concept of exceptional family of elements for the variational inequality problem with a continuous function over a general unbounded closed convex set. We establish a characterization theorem that can be used to derive several new existence and compactness conditions on the solution set. Our findings generalize well-known results for various types of variational inequality problems. For a pseudomonotone variational inequality problem, our new existence conditions are both sufficient and necessary.

含(M)型算子的变分不等式解的存在性及应用

中X是自反Banach空间，K是X的有界、闭、凸子集。研究包含（M）型算子的变分不等式问题：A↑f∈X,求u∈K，使（w-f,v-u)≥0，w∈Tu。其中T是一个有限连续．（M）型、有界集值映射。利用KKM映射和Gwinner定理，我们得到了该变分不等式可解性的结果。最后讨论了这样的变分不等式它的应用。
