Part II of the paper (for Part I see Harsanyi (1982)) describes the actual solutions the Harsanyi-Selten solution theory provides for some important classes of bargaining games, such as unanimity games; trade between one seller and several potential buyers; and two-person bargaining games with incomplete information on one side or on both sides. It also discusses some concepts and theorems useful in computing the solution; and explains how our concept of risk dominance enables us to analyze game situations in terms of some intuitively very compelling probabilistic (subjective-probability) considerations disallowed by classical game theory.  相似文献

The “Nash program” initiated by Nash (Econometrica 21:128–140, 1953) is a research agenda aiming at representing every axiomatically determined cooperative solution to a game as a Nash outcome of a reasonable noncooperative bargaining game. The L-Nash solution first defined by Forgó (Interactive Decisions. Lecture Notes in Economics and Mathematical Systems, vol 229. Springer, Berlin, pp 1–15, 1983) is obtained as the limiting point of the Nash bargaining solution when the disagreement point goes to negative infinity in a fixed direction. In Forgó and Szidarovszky (Eur J Oper Res 147:108–116, 2003), the L-Nash solution was related to the solution of multiciteria decision making and two different axiomatizations of the L-Nash solution were also given in this context. In this paper, finite bounds are established for the penalty of disagreement in certain special two-person bargaining problems, making it possible to apply all the implementation models designed for Nash bargaining problems with a finite disagreement point to obtain the L-Nash solution as well. For another set of problems where this method does not work, a version of Rubinstein’s alternative offer game (Econometrica 50:97–109, 1982) is shown to asymptotically implement the L-Nash solution. If penalty is internalized as a decision variable of one of the players, then a modification of Howard’s game (J Econ Theory 56:142–159, 1992) also implements the L-Nash solution.  相似文献

In this paper, we study solutions of strict noncooperative games that are played just once. The players are not allowed to communicate with each other. The main ingredient of our theory is the concept of rationalizing a set of strategies for each player of a game. We state an axiom based on this concept that every solution of a noncooperative game is required to satisfy. Strong Nash solvability is shown to be a sufficient condition for the rationalizing set to exist, but it is not necessary. Also, Nash solvability is neither necessary nor sufficient for the existence of the rationalizing set of a game. For a game with no solution (in our sense), a player is assumed to recourse to a standard of behavior. In this note we provide a characterization of a subclass of bargaining problems for which the Nash solution has the property of disagreement point monotonicity. While the original d-monotonicity axiom and its stronger notion, strong d-monotonicity, were introduced and discussed by Thomson (J Econ Theory, 42: 50–58, 1987), this paper introduces local strong d-monotonicity and derives a necessary and sufficient condition for the Nash solution to be locally strongly d-monotonic. This characterization is given by using the sensitivity matrix of the Nash bargaining solution w.r.t. the disagreement point d. Moverover, we present a sufficient condition for the Nash solution to be strong d-monotonic.  相似文献

We formulate a cooperative game as an extended form game in which each player in turn proposes payoffs to a coalition over M steps. Payoffs at time t are discounted by a penalty function f(t). If all players in a coalition agree to their payoffs, they receive them. Under a convergence hypothesis verified by computer for three players in many cases, we compute the payoffs resulting from a coalition pattern and give necessary conditions for particular patterns. The resulting solution is related to the Nash bargaining solution and the competitive solution.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the computation of Nash equilibria for noncooperative bi-matrix games. The standard method for finding a Nash equilibrium in such a game is the Lemke-Howson method. That method operates by solving a related linear complementarity problem (LCP). However, the method may fail to reach certain equilibria because it can only start from a limited number of strategy vectors. The method we propose here finds an equilibrium by solving a related stationary point problem (SPP). Contrary to the Lemke-Howson method it can start from almost any strategy vector. Besides, the path of vectors along which the equilibrium is reached has an appealing game-theoretic interpretation. An important feature of the algorithm is that it finds a perfect equilibrium when at the start all actions are played with positive probability. 本文考虑具有损失厌恶行为与破裂风险的Rubinstein谈判博弈。首先构建子博弈完美均衡,并证明子博弈完美均衡的存在性及唯一性。然后分析子博弈完美均衡的性质,结果表明:参与人受益于对手的损失厌恶行为,而因自身具有损失厌恶行为遭受损失;谈判破裂概率对均衡结果的影响取决于贴现因子与参与人的损失厌恶系数;当谈判破裂的概率趋于零时,极限均衡结果收敛于经典的Rubinstein谈判博弈结果。最后建立了与非对称Nash谈判解的关系,其中参与人的议价能力与自身的损失厌恶水平呈负相关性,与对手的损失厌恶水平呈正相关性;参与人的议价能力依赖于谈判破裂概率与出价时间间隔的比值。  相似文献

Maschler, Owen and Peleg (1988) constructed a dynamic system for modelling a possible negotiation process for players facing a smooth n-person pure bargaining game, and showed that all paths of this system lead to the Nash point. They also considered the non-convex case, and found in this case that the limiting points of solutions of the dynamic system belong to the Nash set. Here we extend the model to i) general convex pure bargaining games, and to ii) games generated by “divide the cake” problems. In each of these cases we construct a dynamic system consisting of a differential inclusion (generalizing the Maschler-Owen-Peleg system of differential equations), prove existence of solutions, and show that the solutions converge to the Nash point (or Nash set). The main technical point is proving existence, as the system is neither convex valued nor continuous. The intuition underlying the dynamics is the same as (in the convex case) or analogous to (in the division game) that of Maschler, Owen, and Peleg. We prove that for superadditive games a necessary and sufficient condition for the bargaining set to coincide with the core is that the monotonic cover of the excess game induced by a payoff be balanced for each imputation in the bargaining set. We present some new results obtained by verifying this condition for specific classes of games. For N-zero-monotonic games we show that the same condition required at each kernel element is also necessary and sufficient for the kernel to be contained in the core. Nonzero-sum ergodic semi-Markov games with Borel state spaces are studied. An equilibrium theorem is proved in the class of correlated stationary strategies using public randomization. The stability of Nash equilibria against the perturbation of the right-hand side functions of state equations for noncooperative differential games is investigated. By employing the set-valued analysis theory, we show that the differential games whose equilibria are all stable form a dense residual set, and every differential game can be approximated arbitrarily by a sequence of stable differential games, that is, in the sense of Baire’s category most of the differential games are stable.  相似文献

We use a dynamical systems approach to model the origin of bargaining conventions and report the results of a symmetric bargaining game experiment. Our experiment also provides evidence on the psychological salience of symmetry and efficiency. The observed behavior in the experiment was systematic, replicable, and roughly consistent with the dynamical systems approach. For instance, we do observe unequal-division conventions emerging in communities of symmetrically endowed subjects.  相似文献

This paper characterizes the stationary (subgame) perfect equilibria of an n-person noncooperative bargaining model with characteristic functions, and provides strategic foundations of some cooperative solution concepts such as the core, the bargaining set and the kernel. The contribution of this paper is twofold. First, we show that a linear programming formulation successfully characterizes the stationary (subgame) perfect equilibria of our bargaining game. We suggest a linear programming formulation as an algorithm for the stationary (subgame) perfect equilibria of a class of n-person noncooperative games. Second, utilizing the linear programming formulation, we show that stationary (subgame) perfect equilibria of n-person noncooperative games provide strategic foundations for the bargaining set and the kernel.  相似文献

The continuously stable strategy (CSS) concept, originally developed as an intuitive static condition to predict the dynamic stability of a monomorphic population, is shown to be closely related to classical game-theoretic dominance criteria when applied to continuous strategy spaces. Specifically, for symmetric and non symmetric two-player games, a CSS in the interior of the continuous strategy space is equivalent to neighborhood half-superiority which, for a symmetric game, is connected to the half-dominance and/or risk dominance concepts. For non symmetric games where both players have a one-dimensional continuous strategy space, an interior CSS is shown to be given by a local version of dominance solvability (called neighborhood dominance solvable). Finally, the CSS and half-superiority concepts are applied to points in the bargaining set of Nash bargaining problems. R. This paper investigates the impact of relative performance concerns on the longevity risk transfer market. When an insurer concerns about the relative performance in a two-insurer economy, she maximizes the expected utility of her terminal wealth benchmarked against her competitor’s. The problem formulation for a general utility, a general interest rate process and cointegrated mortality rates uses a nonzero sum stochastic differential game approach. Explicit solution of the Nash equilibrium is derived for constant relative risk adverse insurers under the Vasicek-type stochastic interest and mortality rates. Existence and uniqueness of the Nash equilibrium are established for the CIR-type models, which rule out negative interest and mortality rates. While previous studies based on the single-agent approaches have shown a high investment demand in longevity bonds, the launch of it was unsuccessful in reality. Ours supplements that the demand is much lower subject to the relative performance concerns.  相似文献
