We present a technique for efficient generation of the second-harmonic signal at several points of a nonlinear crystal simultaneously. Multispot operation is performed by using a diffractive optical element that splits the near-infrared light of a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser into an arbitrary array of beams that are transformed into an array of foci at the nonlinear crystal. We show that, for pulse temporal durations under 100 fs, spatiotemporal shaping of the pulse is mandatory to overcome chromatic dispersion effects that spread both in space and time the foci showing a reduced peak intensity that prevents nonlinear phenomena. We experimentally demonstrate arbitrary irradiance patterns for the second-harmonic signal consisting of more than 100 spots with a multipass amplifier delivering 28 fs, 0.8 mJ pulses at 1 kHz repetition rate.  相似文献

A three-dimensional reflectance scanning optical microscope based on the nonlinear optical phenomenon of second-harmonic generation is presented. A mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser producing <90-fs pulses at ~790nm was used, and the images were constructed by scanning of an object, which possessed local second-order nonlinearity, relative to a focused spot from the laser. The second-harmonic light at ~395nm generated by the specimen was separated from the fundamental beam by use of dichroic and interference filters and was detected by a photodiode. The technique was then used to characterize the distribution of second-order nonlinearity and microstructure of the nonlinear material lithium triborate.  相似文献

The quantum-noise properties of single-pass second-harmonic blue-light generation with femtosecond pulses have been measured. A conversion efficiency of as much as 63.5% of second-harmonic generation at 428.8 nm was observed in a KNbO(3) crystal with femtosecond (130-fs) pulses with wavelengths centered at 857.6 nm. The quantum noise on the generated blue light was measured to be 1.0 dB (1.4 dB of squeezing inferred) below the shot-noise limit. The noise reduction was found to be sensitive to the average power and the center wavelength of the input fundamental pulses under the condition of strong pump depletion.  相似文献

We demonstrate a simple method for monitoring all-optical poling in real time. The poling pattern created by the writing beam at the fundamental frequency and the seed beam at the second-harmonic frequency is reconstructed by two-beam second-harmonic generation because of the writing beam and an additional probe beam at the fundamental frequency. When the probe beam is sufficiently weak, it does not distort the poling process. The method provides a significantly stronger signal than monitoring based on a probe beam alone.  相似文献

We demonstrate a novel all-optical scheme for measuring the correlation of spectrally phase-coded ultrashort optical waveforms that uses second-harmonic generation (SHG) in long, periodically poled lithium niobate crystals. The SHG yield can be controlled over a range of ~30 dB, depending on the correlation of the applied phase codes. Such a spectral phase correlator has applications for ultrashort-pulse optical code-division multiple-access networking and could serve as a nonlinear optical but classical analog for certain schemes for coherent quantum control of multiphoton processes.  相似文献

Efficient generation of femtosecond pulses in the wavelength range from 520 to 675 nm by external frequency doubling the signal wave of a non-critically phase-matched picosecond KTP Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO) in a non-critically phase-matched temperature tuned LiB3O5(LBO) crystal is demonstrated. An average power of the second harmonic as high as 310 mW at 575 nm was generated. In the absence of group velocity mismatch of LBO for a wavelength of the OPO at about 1.3 µm the minimum second-harmonic pulse width was 400 fs at 645 nm.  相似文献

We study, both experimentally and theoretically, the process of second-harmonic generation by two noncollinear beams in ferroelectric crystals with a disordered distribution of ferroelectric domains. We show that this parametric process results in generation of second-harmonic wave in the direction transverse to the propagation of the fundamental beam. We demonstrate how this effect can be used for the femtosecond pulse characterization enabling the estimation of both width and chirp of the pulse.  相似文献

We measure the susceptibility components of a poled polymer film by second-harmonic generation with two beams at the fundamental frequency. The technique allows the consistency of experimental data and the validity of the theoretical model used to analyze the results to be addressed. Our results are in agreement with the expected values, provided that the linear optical properties of the sample are properly included.  相似文献

采用钛宝石飞秒脉冲激光对单晶硅在空气中进行辐照,研究了硅表面在不同扫描速度和能量密度下的光致荧光特性。光致荧光谱(PL)测量表明,在样品没有退火处理的情况下,激光扫描区域观察到橙色荧光峰(603 nm)和红色荧光带(680 nm附近)。扫描电子显微镜(SEM)测量显示,在飞秒脉冲激光辐照硅样品的过程中硅表面沉积了大量的纳米颗粒。利用傅里叶变换红外光谱仪(FT-IR)检测到了低值氧化物SiOx(x<2)的存在,并且结合能谱仪(EDS)检测结果发现氧元素在光致发光中起着重要作用。研究表明:603 nm处橙色荧光峰来自微构造硅表面低值氧化物SiOx,680 nm附近红色荧光带来自量子限制效应。同时样品表面硅纳米颗粒的尺寸和氧元素的浓度分别决定了红色荧光带和橙色荧光的强度,通过调节飞秒激光脉冲的扫描速度和能量密度,可以有效地控制样品的荧光强度。  相似文献

We demonstrate the use of an aperiodic quasi-phase-matching (QPM) grating to generate second-harmonic pulses that are stretched or compressed relative to input pulses at the fundamental frequency. We frequency doubled an externally chirped erbium-doped fiber laser generating 17-ps (FWHM) pulses at 1560nm to produce near-transform-limited 110-fs (FWHM) pulses at 780nm by use of a 5-cm-long lithium niobate crystal poled with a QPM grating chirped from an 18.2- to a 19.8-microm period.  相似文献

Third-harmonic generation (THG) from silicon crystals excited by femtosecond pulses has been studied. THG as a function of probe pulse delay from linear and circularly polarized probe pulses was examined. Both polarizations exhibit a fast, 300 fs drop in THG when the Si is pumped by pulses with fluence above the melting threshold. This drop for both polarizations indicates that electronic effects dominate THG in laser-melted Si since structural effects should principally influence THG from linearly polarized probes, suggesting that care needs to be exercised in interpreting THG signal as an ultrafast probe of crystalline structure in semiconductors.  相似文献

Second-harmonic generation in germanosilicate glasses was encoded by coherent superposition of the 810-nm fundamental and the 405-nm second-harmonic light of a femtosecond laser. The difference spectra between the absorption spectra of the glasses before and after preparation were measured. An evident correlation between the induced second-order nonlinearity and the creation of a Ge electron center was observed, suggesting that a band-to-band transition by multiphoton absorption is probably responsible for the photoinduced second-harmonic generation.  相似文献

This paper investigates experimentally high-order harmonic generation(HHG) of neon gas with 5-fs and 25-fs driving laser pulses.It has been demonstrated that the cutoff energy of the harmonic extreme ultraviolet photons is extended to 131 eV and the HHG spectrum near the cutoff region becomes continuum as the driving laser pulse duration is 5 fs;whereas much lower cutoff photon energy and discrete harmonic spectrum near the cutoff region are presented as the laser pulse duration is 25 fs.The results can be explained by the fact that neutral atoms can be exposed to more intense laser field before they are depleted by ionization because of the extremely short rising time of the few-cycle pulse.The 5-fs driving laser pulse paves the way of generation of coherent x-ray in the water window and single attosecond pulse.  相似文献

A surprising phenomenon can be discovered by using femtosecond double-pulse ablation of silicon and germanium in ethanol. The ablation areas present an oscillation increase phenomenon when the pulse delay increases from 200 fs to 1 ps in the fluence range of 0.5–0.6 J∕cm2. In contrast, the ablation areas exhibit an oscillation decrease phenomenon as the pulse delay increases when the laser fluence F 0.5 J∕cm2, which is consistent with the results of the experiment in air. It is considered that the adjustment of the photon–electron coupling efficiency by pulse train technology plays an important role in the ablation process.  相似文献

We demonstrate efficient generation of picosecond narrow-bandwidth pulses by frequency mixing of broadband opposite chirped pulses in a type I doubling crystal. This procedure allows us to produce picosecond pulses that are perfectly synchronized with femtosecond pulses. The experiment shows a decrease of the initial bandwidth by a factor of more than 30, while a high conversion efficiency is maintained.  相似文献

Stable interference between the outputs of two noncollinearly phase-matched optical parametric amplifiers seeded by separate white-light continua has been observed. This means that the tunable visible pulses have a well-defined relative phase and that the temporal jitter between them is less than 1 fs.
