The present work investigates the degradation of 4-chloro 2-aminophenol (4C2AP), a highly toxic organic compound, using ultrasonic reactors and combination of ultrasound with photolysis and ozonation for the first time. Two types of ultrasonic reactors viz. ultrasonic horn and ultrasonic bath operating at frequency of 20 kHz and 36 kHz respectively have been used in the work. The effect of initial pH, temperature and power dissipation of the ultrasonic horn on the degradation rate has been investigated. The established optimum parameters of initial pH as 6 (natural pH of the aqueous solution) and temperature as 30 ± 2 °C were then used in the degradation studies using the combined approaches. Kinetic study revealed that degradation of 4C2AP followed first order kinetics for all the treatment approaches investigated in the present work. It has been established that US + UV + O3 combined process was the most promising method giving maximum degradation of 4C2AP in both ultrasonic horn (complete removal) and bath (89.9%) with synergistic index as 1.98 and 1.29 respectively. The cavitational yield of ultrasonic bath was found to be eighteen times higher as compared to ultrasonic horn implying that configurations with higher overall areas of transducers would be better selection for large scale treatment. Overall, the work has clearly demonstrated that combined approaches could synergistically remove the toxic pollutant (4C2AP).  相似文献

In this study, hemp seed oil (HSO) emulsions stabilized with hemp seed protein (HPI) were prepared and treated with high intensity ultrasonic (HIU). The effects of different treatment powers (0, 150, 300, 450, 600 W) on the properties, microstructure and stability of emulsions were investigated. HIU-treated emulsions showed improved emulsifying activity index and emulsifying stability index, reduced particle size, and increased absolute values of ζ-potential, with the extreme points of these indices occurring at a treatment power of 450 W. Here, the emulsion showed the best dispersion and the smallest particle size in fluorescence microscopy observation, with the highest adsorbed protein content (30.12%), and the highest tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) retention rate (87.64%). The best thermal and oxidative stability of the emulsions were obtained under HIU treatment with a power of 450 W. The D43 and the peroxide values (POV) values after 30 d storage were the smallest at 985.74 ± 64.89 nm and 4.6 μmol/L, respectively. Therefore, 450 W was optimal HIU power to effectively improve the properties of HPI-stabilized HSO emulsion and promote the application of HSO and its derivatives in food processing production.  相似文献

Delignification of sawdust was studied using ultrasound assisted alkali peroxide approach using longitudinal horn for the first time and the efficacy compared with more commonly used configurations of ultrasonic reactors. Comparison with the conventional approach based on stirring has also been presented to establish the process intensification benefits. Effect of different operating parameters such as sodium carbonate concentration (0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25 M), hydrogen peroxide concentration (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1 M) and biomass loading (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 wt%), on the efficacy of lignin extraction has been investigated for different ultrasonic reactors. The optimum conditions for probe type ultrasonic horn were established as 150 W, 50% duty cycle and 80% amplitude with optimum process conditions as Na2CO3 concentration as 0.2 M, H2O2 concentration as 1 M, biomass loading of 10 wt% and operating time of 70 min. Longitudinal horn resulted in best efficacy (both in terms of yield and energy requirements) followed by ultrasonic horn and ultrasonic bath whereas the conventional approach was least effective. The obtained lignin was also analyzed using different characterization techniques. The presence of peaks at wavelength range of 875–817, 1123–1110, and at 1599 cm−1 for the extracted sample confirmed the presence of lignin. Increase in the crystallinity index of the processed sample (maximum for longitudinal horn) also confirmed the lignin removal as lignin is amorphous in nature. Overall it has been concluded that ultrasound can be effectively used for delignification with longitudinal horn as best configuration.  相似文献

The primary motive of the current work is to achieve smaller mean particle size with narrow size distribution that can enhance the bioavailability of azithromycin (ARZ), an essential requirement due to its poor water solubility. Recrystallization of ARZ was evaluated using cooling as well as antisolvent crystallization approaches in the presence of ultrasonic irradiation with detailed study into effect of different parameters such as ultrasonic power, time and temperature. Ultrasound assisted antisolvent crystallization at low temperatures (<10℃) yielded best size reduction up to 80% with narrower distribution and also gave better yield of the product, that too within 5 min of sonication. With scale up considerations, recirculation mode of operation was also evaluated which offered promising results for the size reduction. Images captured using optical microscope and SEM revealed a nearly uniform rod/plate-shaped geometry. Increase in amorphous nature of ARZ was confirmed based on XRD analysis. FTIR analysis showed no significant changes in the functional groups when compared to the original sample. Overall, the work demonstrated an improved reprocessing approach based on the use of ultrasound with insights into effect of operating parameters and effect of ultrasound on various characteristics.  相似文献

High power ultrasonic equipment is now commonplace in biological, chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories. These devices are being used for a variety of purposes including emulsification, dispersion, extraction and cell disruption. The average researcher has little basis for comparing the relative energy output of various ultrasonic probes at different power settings and he has neither the interest nor the time to determine their relative heat production. This research was designed to prepare a series of relative power indices and temperature profiles for several ultrasonic cell disruptors. Even though there are variations among equipment bearing the same model number it was considered worthwhile to make available relative cavitational and temperature data.  相似文献

In the present work, the current status of the hydrodynamic cavitation reactors has been reviewed discussing the bubble dynamics analysis, optimum design considerations, design correlations for cavitational intensity (in terms of collapse pressure)/cavitational yield and different successful chemical synthesis applications clearly illustrating the utility of these types of reactors. The theoretical discussion based on the modeling of the bubble dynamics equations aims at understanding the design information related to the dependency of the cavitational intensity on the operating parameters and recommendations have been made for the choice of the optimized conditions of operating parameters. The design information based on the theoretical analysis has also been supported with some experimental illustrations concentrating on the chemical synthesis applications. Assessment of the hydrodynamic cavitation reactors and comparison with the sonochemical reactors has been done by citing the different industrially important reactions (oxidation of toluene, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene, mesitylene, o-nitrotoluene, p-nitrotoluene, m-nitrotoluene, o-chlorotoluene and p-chlorotoulene, and trans-esterification reaction i.e., synthesis of bio-diesel). Some recommendations have also been made for the future work to be carried out as well as the choice of the operating conditions for realizing the dream of industrial scale applications of the cavitational reactors.  相似文献

TiO2 catalyst was synthesized in the presence of ultrasound (ultrasonic horn at 20 kHz frequency and 70% duty cycle) at different power (80 W to 120 W) and durations as well as surfactant concentration with an objective of establishing best conditions for achieving lowest particle size of the photocatalyst. Detailed characterization in terms of crystal phase, crystallinity, functional groups and morphology of the photocatalyst has been performed using SEM, XRD and FTIR analysis. It was demonstrated that sonication significantly reduced the particle size with high degree of sphericity and homogeneity as compared to conventionally synthesized TiO2 with similar crystallinity in both cases. The catalytic performance was subsequently evaluated for the deep desulfurization of thiophene. Different desulfurization approaches including individual US (ultrasonic horn at 20 kHz frequency, 110 W power and 70% duty cycle) and UV irradiations, US/UV, US/UV/H2O2, US/UV/TiO2 and US/UV/H2O2/TiO2 were applied to evaluate the catalytic activity. The best approach was demonstrated as US/UV/H2O2/TiO2 and also activity of catalyst synthesized using ultrasound was much better compared to conventionally synthesized catalyst. The studies related to different model solvents demonstrated lowest reactivity for toluene whereas n-hexane and n-octane resulted in complete desulfurization in 60 min and 50 min treatment respectively. The desulfurization followed pseudo first order reaction kinetics irrespective of the solvent used. Overall the work clearly demonstrated the efficacy of ultrasound in improving the catalyst synthesis as well as desulfurization of thiophene.  相似文献

Ultrasonic atomization is used to produce fine liquid mists with diameter ranges below 100 nm. We investigated the effect of the frequency on the size distribution of ultrasonic mist. A bimodal distribution was obtained for the mist generated by ultrasonic atomization with a wide-range particle spectrometer. The peak diameter decreased with increasing frequency, and the number concentration of the mist increased in the smaller range. We determined the relation between the size distribution of the mist and the ultrasonic frequency, and we proposed a generation mechanism for the ultrasonic nanosized mist based on the amount of water vapor around the liquid column. Increasing the power intensity and density by changing the surface diameter of the ultrasonic oscillator affected the number concentration and size distribution of the nanosized mist. Using this technique, the diameter of the mist can be controlled by changing the frequency of the ultrasonic transducer.  相似文献

High intensity low frequency ultrasound was used to process dairy ingredients to improve functional properties. Based on a number of lab-scale experiments, several experimental parameters were optimised for processing large volumes of whey and casein-based dairy systems in pilot scale ultrasonic reactors. A continuous sonication process at 20 kHz capable of delivering up to 4 kW of power with a flow-through reactor design was used to treat dairy ingredients at flow rates ranging from 200 to 6000 mL/min. Dairy ingredients treated by ultrasound included reconstituted whey protein concentrate (WPC), whey protein and milk protein retentates and calcium caseinate. The sonication of solutions with a contact time of less than 1 min and up to 2.4 min led to a significant reduction in the viscosity of materials containing 18% to 54% (w/w) solids. The viscosity of aqueous dairy ingredients treated with ultrasound was reduced by between 6% and 50% depending greatly on the composition, processing history, acoustic power and contact time. A notable improvement in the gel strength of sonicated and heat coagulated dairy systems was also observed. When sonication was combined with a pre-heat treatment of 80 °C for 1 min or 85 °C for 30 s, the heat stability of the dairy ingredients containing whey proteins was significantly improved. The effect of sonication was attributed mainly to physical forces generated through acoustic cavitation as supported by particle size reduction in response to sonication. As a result, the gelling properties and heat stability aspects of sonicated dairy ingredients were maintained after spray drying and reconstitution. Overall, the sonication procedure for processing dairy systems may be used to improve process efficiency, improve throughput and develop value added ingredients with the potential to deliver economical benefits to the dairy industry.  相似文献

The aim of the paper was to investigate the effect of ultrasonic emulsification treatment on the fabrication mechanism and stability of the emulsion. The covalent conjugate made with rice bran protein hydrolysate (RBPH) and ferulic acid (FA) was used as the emulsifier. The effects of high intensity ultrasound (HIU) power with different level (0 W, 150 W, 300 W, 450 W and 600 W) on the stability of emulsion were evaluated. The results showed that ultrasonic emulsification can significantly improve the stability of the emulsions (p < 0.05). The emulsion gained better stability and emulsifying property at 300 W. It was able to fabricate emulsion with smaller particle size, more uniform distribution and higher interfacial protein content. It was confirmed by fluorescent microscopy and cryo-scanning electron microscopy (cryo-SEM) furtherly. And it was also proved that the emulsion treated by proper HIU treatment at 300 W had better storage stability. Excessive HIU treatment (450 W, 600 W) had negative effects on the stability of emulsion. The stability of emulsion (300 W) against different environmental stresses was further explored, which established a theoretical basis for the industrial application of emulsion in food industry.  相似文献

Micro electroforming is widely used for fabricating micro metal devices in Micro Electro Mechanism System (MEMS). However, there is the problem of poor adhesion strength between micro electroforming layer and substrate. This dramatically influences the dimensional accuracy of the device. To solve this problem, ultrasonic agitation method is applied during the micro electroforming process. To explore the effect of the ultrasonic agitation on the adhesion strength, micro electroforming experiments were carried out under different ultrasonic power (0 W, 100 W, 150 W, 200 W, 250 W) and different ultrasonic frequencies (0 kHz, 40 kHz, 80 kHz, 120 kHz, 200 kHz). The effects of the ultrasonic power and the ultrasonic frequency on the micro electroforming process were investigated by polarization method and alternating current (a.c.) impedance method. The adhesion strength between the electroforming layer and the substrate was measured by scratch test. The compressive stress of the electroforming layer was measured by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) method. The crystallite size of the electroforming layer was measured by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) method. The internal contact surface area of the electroforming layer was measured by cyclic voltammetry (CV) method. The experimental results indicate that the ultrasonic agitation can decrease the polarization overpotential and increase the charge transfer process. Generally, the internal contact surface area is increased and the compressive stress is reduced. And then the adhesion strength is enhanced. Due to the different depolarization effects of the ultrasonic power and the ultrasonic frequency, the effects on strengthening the adhesion strength are different. When the ultrasonic agitation is 200 W and 40 kHz, the effect on strengthening the adhesion strength is the best. In order to prove the effect which the ultrasonic agitation can improve the adhesion strength of the micro devices, micro pillar arrays were fabricated under ultrasonic agitation (200 W, 40 kHz). The experimental results show that the residual rate of the micro pillar arrays is increased about 17% by ultrasonic agitation method. This work contributes to fabricating the electroforming layer with large adhesion strength.  相似文献

Ultrasonic-assisted ultrafiltration (UAU) removing bacterial endotoxin from diammonium glycyrrhizinate, was firstly applied to surfactant separation. Separation efficiency was related with four variables, including ultrafiltration molecular weight cut off (MWCO), ultrasonic power, concentration and pH. The SCQ-9200E ultrasonic system was provided for the study with adjustable ultrasonic power 80 W to 800 W, and the ultrasonic frequency was 40 KHz. On the basis of response surface methodology (RSM), the optimal separation conditions were determined to be the ultrafiltration MWCO as 10 kDa, the ultrasonic power as 570 W, diammonium glycyrrhizinate concentration as 150.00 μg/mL and the pH as 4.70. The experimental rejection of bacterial endotoxin was 94.08%, meanwhile the transmittance of diammonium glycyrrhizinate was 93.65%. Based on the ultrasonic power, solution volume, and ultrasonic container size, the experiments with UAU at different power intensities showed that ultrasonic at a power intensity of 57 W/L and the power density of 0.32 W/cm2 could solve the separation contradiction between diammonium glycyrrhizinate and bacterial endotoxin. This study indicated that UAU could be an innovation in ultrasonic separation fields, and had a vast range of prospects for making use in pharmaceutical preparation area.  相似文献

In this work, extraction of flavonoids from peanut shells has been studied in the presence of ultrasound and the results are compared with Soxhlet and heat reflux extraction for establishing the process intensification benefits. The process optimization for understanding the effects of operating parameters, such as ethanol concentration, particle size, solvent to solid ratio, extraction temperature, ultrasonic power and ultrasonic frequency, on the extraction of flavonoids has been investigated in details. The highest extraction yield (9.263 mg/g) of flavonoids was achieved in 80 min at optimum operating parameters of particle size of 0.285 mm, solvent to solid ratio of 40 ml/g, extraction temperature of 55 °C, ultrasonic power of 120 W and ultrasonic frequency of 45 kHz with 70% ethanol as the solvent. Two kinetic models (i.e. phenomenological model and Peleg’s model) have been introduced to describe the extraction kinetic of flavonoids by fitting experimental data and predict kinetic parameters. Good performance with slight loss of goodness of fit of two models was found by comparing their coefficient of determination (R2), root mean square error (RMSE) and/or mean percentage error (MPE) values. This work would provide the reduction of degradation and the economic evaluation for the extraction processes of flavonoids from peanut shells, as well as give a better explanation for the mechanism of ultrasound.  相似文献

The present review emphasizes the role of hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) and acoustic cavitation in clean and green technologies for selected fuels (of hydrocarbon origins such as gasoline, naphtha, diesel, heavy oil, and crude oil) processing applications including biodiesel production. Herein, the role of cavitation reactors, their geometrical parameters, physicochemical properties of liquid media, liquid oxidants, catalyst loading, reactive oxygen species, and different types of emulsification and formation of radicals, formation as well as extraction of formed by-products are systematically reviewed. Among all types of HC reactors, vortex diode and single hole orifices revealed more than 95 % desulfurization yield and a 20 % viscosity reduction in heavy oil upgrading, while multi-hole orifice (100 holes) and slit Venturi allowed obtaining the best biodiesel production processes in terms of high (%) yield, low cost of treatment, and short processing time (5 min; 99 % biodiesel; 4.80 USD/m3). On the other hand, the acoustic cavitation devices are likely to be the most effective in biodiesel production based on ultrasonic bath (90 min; 95 %; 6.7 $/m3) and desulfurization treatment based on ultrasonic transducers (15 min; 98.3 % desulfurization; 10.8 $/m3). The implementation of HC-based processes reveals to be the most cost-effective method over acoustic cavitation-based devices. Finally, by reviewing the ongoing applications and development works, the limitations and challenges for further research are addressed emphasizing the cleaner production and guidelines for future scientists to assure obtaining comprehensive data useful for the research community.  相似文献

Curcumin, a dietary phytochemical, has been extracted from rhizomes of Curcuma amada using ultrasound assisted extraction (UAE) and the results compared with the conventional extraction approach to establish the process intensification benefits. The effect of operating parameters such as type of solvent, extraction time, extraction temperature, solid to solvent ratio, particle size and ultrasonic power on the extraction yield have been investigated in details for the approach UAE. The maximum extraction yield as 72% was obtained in 1 h under optimized conditions of 35 °C temperature, solid to solvent ratio of 1:25, particle size of 0.09 mm, ultrasonic power of 250 W and ultrasound frequency of 22 kHz with ethanol as the solvent. The obtained yield was significantly higher as compared to the batch extraction where only about 62% yield was achieved in 8 h of treatment. Peleg’s model was used to describe the kinetics of UAE and the model showed a good agreement with the experimental results. Overall, ultrasound has been established to be a green process for extraction of curcumin with benefits of reduction in time as compared to batch extraction and the operating temperature as compared to Soxhlet extraction.  相似文献

The effects of ultrasound on corn slurry saccharification yield and particle size distribution was studied in both batch and continuous-flow ultrasonic systems operating at a frequency of 20 kHz. Ground corn slurry (28% w/v) was prepared and sonicated in batches at various amplitudes (192–320 μmpeak-to-peak (p–p)) for 20 or 40 s using a catenoidal horn. Continuous flow experiments were conducted by pumping corn slurry at various flow rates (10–28 l/min) through an ultrasonic reactor at constant amplitude of 12 μmp–p. The reactor was equipped with a donut shaped horn. After ultrasonic treatment, commercial alpha- and gluco-amylases (STARGENTM 001) were added to the samples, and liquefaction and saccharification proceeded for 3 h. The sonicated samples were found to yield 2–3 times more reducing sugars than unsonicated controls. Although the continuous flow treatments released less reducing sugar compared to the batch systems, the continuous flow process was more energy efficient. The reduction of particle size due to sonication was approximately proportional to the dissipated ultrasonic energy regardless of the type of system used. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images were also used to observe the disruption of corn particles after sonication. Overall, the study suggests that both batch and continuous ultrasonication enhanced saccharification yields and reduced the particle size of corn slurry. However, due to the large volume involve in full scale processes, an ultrasonic continuous system is recommended.  相似文献

Lotus seed starch nanoparticles were prepared by ultrasonic (ultrasonic power: 200 W, 600 W, 1000 W; time: 5 min, 15 min, 25 min; liquid ratio (starch: buffer solution): 1%, 3%, 5%) assisted enzymatic hydrolysis (LS-SNPs represent lotus seed starch nanoparticles prepared by enzymatic hydrolysis and U-LS-SNPs represent lotus seed starch nanoparticles prepared by high pressure homogenization-assisted enzymatic hydrolysis). The structure and physicochemical properties of U-LS-SNPs were studied by laser particle size analysis, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance and gel permeation chromatography system. The results of scanning electron microscopy showed that the surface of U-LS-SNPs was cracked and uneven after ultrasonic-assisted enzymolysis, and there was no significant difference from LS-SNPs. The results of particle size analysis and gel permeation chromatography showed that the particle size of U-LS-SNPs (except 5% treatment group) was smaller than that of LS-SNPs. With the increase of ultrasonic power and time, the weight average molecular gradually decreased. The results of X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy showed that ultrasonic waves first acted on the amorphous region of starch granules. With the increase of ultrasonic power and time, the relative crystallinity of U-LS-SNPs increased first and then decreased. The group (600 W, 15 min, 3%) had the highest relative crystallinity. The results of nuclear magnetic resonance studies showed that the hydrogen bond and double helix structure of starch were destroyed by ultrasound, and the double helix structure strength of U-LS-SNPs was weakened compared with LS-SNPs. In summary, U-LS-SNPs with the small-sized and the highest crystallinity can be prepared under the conditions of ultrasonic power of 600 W, time of 15 min and material-liquid ratio of 3%.  相似文献

The electrochemical mechanism of Fe-Ni electrodeposition under ultrasonic was investigated by electrochemistry methods. Linear scanning voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry were used to show that the deposition process changed from the diffusion control under static conditions to an electrochemical control under ultrasonic conditions. Chronoamperometry curves showed that the Fe-Ni deposit occurred by a mechanism that instantaneous nucleation is followed by three-dimensional growth under charge transfer control. Chronopotentiogram indicated that because of the intensity of the ultrasound stripping effect, high ultrasonic power is unsuitable for electroforming Fe-Ni alloy, and a high current density is also not appropriate. Thus, the optimum parameters for Fe-Ni electrodeposition under ultrasonic conditions are ultrasonic power between 80 and 100 W (power density 0.28–0.35 W/cm2), and a current density lower than 10 mA/cm2 with temperature 323 K and pH 3. Experiments were performed to verify that the Fe-Ni masks prepared by ultrasonic-assisted electroforming had a good surface quality. The increase in ultrasonic power can obtain a larger grain size, thus got a low thermal expansion coefficient and a high hardness. Therefore, ultrasonic-assisted electrodeposition technology provides an effective and practically feasible manufacturing method for OLED Fe-Ni mask preparation.  相似文献

Palm oil mill effluent (POME) is a highly contaminating wastewater due to its high chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). Conventional treatment methods require longer residence time (10–15 days) and higher operating cost. Owing to this, finding a suitable and efficient method for the treatment of POME is crucial. In this investigation, ultrasound cavitation technology has been used as an alternative technique to treat POME. Cavitation is the phenomenon of formation, growth and collapse of bubbles in a liquid. The end process of collapse leads to intense conditions of temperature and pressure and shock waves which assist various physical and chemical transformations. Two different ultrasound systems i.e. ultrasonic bath (37 kHz) and a hexagonal triple frequency ultrasonic reactor (28, 40 and 70 kHz) of 15 L have been used. The results showed a fluctuating COD pattern (in between 45,000 and 60,000 mg/L) while using ultrasound bath alone, whereas a non-fluctuating COD pattern with a final COD of 27,000 mg/L was achieved when hydrogen peroxide was introduced. Similarly for the triple frequency ultrasound reactor, coupling all the three frequencies resulted into a final COD of 41,300 mg/L compared to any other individual or combination of two frequencies. With the possibility of larger and continuous ultrasonic cavitational reactors, it is believed that this could be a promising and a fruitful green process engineering technique for the treatment of POME.  相似文献

The present work deals with application of sonochemical reactors for the treatment of imidacloprid containing wastewaters either individually or in combination with other advanced oxidation processes. Experiments have been performed using two different configurations of sonochemical reactors viz. ultrasonic horn (20 kHz frequency and rated power of 240 W) and ultrasonic bath equipped with radially vibrating horn (25 kHz frequency and 1 kW rated power). The work also investigates the effect of addition of process intensifying agents such as H2O2 and CuO, which can enhance the production of free radicals in the system. The combination studies with advanced oxidation process involve the advanced Fenton process and combination of ultrasound with UV based oxidation. The extent of degradation obtained using combination of US and H2O2 at optimum loading of H2O2 was found to be 92.7% whereas 96.5% degradation of imidacloprid was achieved using the combination of US and advanced Fenton process. The process involving the combination of US, UV and H2O2 was found to be the best treatment approach where complete degradation of imidacloprid was obtained with 79% TOC removal. It has been established that the use of cavitation in combination with different oxidation processes can be effectively used for the treatment of imidacloprid containing wastewater.  相似文献
