Abstract:In this paper,Rh 2(OAc) 4 and Rh 6(CO) 16 were used as catalyst for hydroformylation and hydrogenation of 1 heptene to octanol in a high pressure reaction autoclave under favorable conditions.The active species in the Rh/PBu 3/EtOH catalytic system was studied by in situ IR.The aldehyde was seen to form first and increased to amaximum,then decreased to form octanol and disappeared in the end.This reaction sequence of hydroformylation of heptene and hydrogenation of heptyl aldehyde was thus further elucidated.The in situ IR spectra are different from what were determimed in air.
