Progress in Novel Materials Design Based on Cyclodextrins

A brief introduction of novel materials based on cyclodextrins is summarized from the following aspects： nanoparticles,gels,fibers,and cyclodextrin polymers.Applications in chemical and pharmaceutical industries and outlook of cyclodextrins are discussed.Nanoparticle materials based on cylodextrins consist of core-shell,copolymerization,complexed inorganic nonmetallic materials and vesicles materials.The gels materials consist of β-cyclodextrin hydrogel and cyclodextrin organogels.Many studies showed that nanoparticle materials based on cylodextrins have the advantages of high surface area and stability as drug carriers and biological materials,and that gels materials based on cyclodextrin have been widely used in biomedical application,especially drugs slow-release system and tissue engineering.Fiber materials based on cyclodextrin widely have been used in the applications of industrial and living fields.In addition,cyclodextrins are one of the most promising materials for adsorbing,separation and flame-resisting materials.
