The effects of solvent and temperature on the complexation of adamantyl mannoside with β-cyclodextrin and 6-O-monotosyl-6-deoxy-β-cyclodextrin were explored experimentally and by means of molecular dynamics simulations. Efficient binding was observed only in hydrogen-bonded solvents, which indicated solvophobically driven complexation. The stability of the inclusion complex was considerably higher in aqueous media. A pronounced temperature dependence of ΔrH○ and ΔrS○, resulting in perfect enthalpy–entropy compensation, was observed in water. The complexation thermodynamics was in line with classical rationale for the hydrophobic effect at lower temperatures and the nonclassical explanation at higher temperatures. This finding linked cyclodextrin complexation thermodynamics with insights regarding the effect of temperature on the hydration water structure. The complexation enthalpies and entropies were weakly dependent on temperature in organic media. The signs of ΔrH○ and ΔrS○ were in accordance with the nonclassical hydrophobic (solvophobic) effect. The structures of the optimized product corresponded to those deduced spectroscopically, and the calculated and experimentally obtained values of ΔrG○ were in very good agreement. This investigation clearly demonstrated that solvophobically driven formation of cyclodextrin complexes could be anticipated in structured solvents in general. However, unlike in water, adamantane and the host cavity behaved solely as structure breakers in the organic media explored so far. 相似文献

The chiral separation of various analytes (dichlorprop, mecoprop, ibuprofen, and ketoprofen) was demonstrated with different cyclodextrins as mobile phase additives in open-tubular liquid chromatography using a stationary pseudophase semipermanent coating. The stable coating was prepared by a successive multiple ionic layer approach using poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride), polystyrene sulfonate, and didodecyldimethyl ammonium bromide. Increasing concentrations (0–0.2 mM) of various native and derivatized cyclodextrins in 25 mM sodium tetraborate (pH 9.2) were investigated. Chiral separation was achieved for the four test analytes using 0.05–0.1 mM β-cyclodextrin (resolution between 1.11 and 1.34), γ-cyclodextrin (resolution between 0.78 and 1.27), carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (resolution between 1.64 and 2.59), and 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (resolution between 0.71 and 1.76) with the highest resolutions obtained with 0.1 mM carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin. %RSD values were <10%. Thermoresponsive water‐soluble polymers are of great importance since they typically show a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) in aqueous media. In this research, the LCST change in broad temperature ranges of copolymers composed of natural glycyrrhetinic acid (GA)‐based methacrylate and N ,N′ ‐dimethylacrylamides (DMAs) was investigated as a function of the concentration and the content of GA pendants. By complexation of GA pendants with β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD), a side‐chain polypseudorotaxane was obtained, which exhibited a significant increase in the LCST of copolymers. Moreover, the precisely reversible control of the LCST behavior was realized through adding a competing guest molecule, sodium 1‐admantylcarboxylate. This work illustrates a simple and effective approach to endow water‐soluble polymers with broad temperature tunability and helps us further understand the effect of a biocompatible host–guest complementary β‐CD/GA pair on the thermoresponsive process. 相似文献

The β‐cyclodextrin‐assisted aqueous‐exfoliation method was used to prepare transition‐metal dichalcogenide (TMD) nanosheets, in a cheap, highly efficient, scalable and environmentally friendly manner. As study cases, MoS2 and ReS2 nanoflakes were prepared according to this method. Particularly, the effective exfoliation of ReS2 crystals in an aqueous environment was observed for the first time. Moreover, exfoliated nanomaterials can be readily utilized in hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs) as noble‐metal‐free catalysts. This work provides new opportunities for highly efficient exfoliation of TMDs and other 2D nanomaterials into few‐layer nanosheets in aqueous media. Cyclodextrins (CDs) are cyclic oligosaccharides that have found widespread application in numerous fields. CDs have revealed a number of various health benefits, making them potentially useful food supplements and nutraceuticals. In this study, the impact of α-, β-, and γ-CD at different concentrations (up to 8% of the flour weight) on the wheat dough and bread properties were investigated. The impact on dough properties was assessed by alveograph analysis, and it was found that especially β-CD affected the viscoelastic properties. This behavior correlates well with a direct interaction of the CDs with the proteins of the gluten network. The impact on bread volume and bread staling was also assessed. The bread volume was in general not significantly affected by the addition of up to 4% CD, except for 4% α-CD, which slightly increased the bread volume. Larger concentrations of CDs lead to decreasing bread volumes. Bread staling was investigated by texture analysis and low field nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (LF-NMR) measurements, and no effect of the addition of CDs on the staling was observed. Up to 4% CD can, therefore, be added to wheat bread with only minor effects on the dough and bread properties. 相似文献

The steady-state fluorescence emission from the local anaesthetic tetracaine (TCA) in water–solvent mixtures and in the presence of α-, β- and γ-cyclodextrin (CD) was investigated at various pH values. Emission was observed from the locally and the intramolecular charge transfer excited states. The TCA–CD system was found to be characterised by 1:1 associate in every case. We describe a new concept for rotaxane synthesis through intramolecular slippage using π‐conjugated molecules as rigid axles linked with organic soluble and flexible permethylated α‐cyclodextrins (PM α‐CDs) as macrocycles. Through hydrophilic–hydrophobic interactions and flipping of PM α‐CDs, successful quantitative conversion into rotaxanes was achieved without covalent bond formation. The rotaxanes had high activation barrier for their de‐threading, so that they were kinetically isolated and derivatized even under conditions unfavorable for maintaining the rotaxane structures. 1H NMR spectroscopy experiments clearly revealed that the restricted motion of the linked macrocycle with the rigid axle made it possible to control the kinetic stability by adjusting the length of the rigid axle in the precursor structure rather than the steric bulkiness of the stopper unit. 相似文献

The first member of the single‐isomer, dicationic cyclodextrin (CD) family, 6A‐ammonium‐6C‐butylimidazolium‐β‐cyclodextrin chlorides (AMBIMCD), has been synthesized, analytically characterized, and used to separate a variety of acidic enantiomers and amino acids by CE. Starting from mono‐6A‐azido‐β‐cyclodextrin, the cationic imidazolium and ammonium moieties were subsequently introduced onto primary ring of β‐cyclodextrin via nucleophilic addition and Staudinger reaction. The analytically pure AC regio‐isomer CD was further obtained via column chromatography. This dicationic CD exhibited excellent enantioselectivities for selected analytes at concentration as low as 0.5 mM, which were even better than those of its mono‐imidazolium or ammonium‐substitued counterpart CDs at 10 equivalent concentrations. The effective mobilities of all studied analytes were found to decrease with the concentration of AMBIMCD. Inclusion complexation in combination with eletrostatic interactions seemed to account for the enhanced chiral discrimination process. 相似文献
