| Abstract: | The current research and development trends in synthesis of salicylaldehyde including ortho-regioselective formylation, chlorination hydrolysis and reduction methods, are reviewed. The mechanism and process of catalytic ortho-regioselective formylation of phenol to manufacture salicylaldehyde in the presence of Sn and Mg ions is briefly summarized. |
