Abstract:The anodic differential pulse voltammetric behavior of xanthine (Xa) and its application were studied. In 0.1 mol/L NaOH solution, Xa yields a well defined anodic peak. The peak potential is about 0.6 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). A linear relationship holds between the peak current and the concentration of Xa in the range of 0.05-100 mg/L. The method has been used for direct determination of Xa in urine samples. Its recovery is in the range of 100% -106%. Experimental results prove that the electrode reaction is diffustion controlled and irreversible.
