Abstract:Polyoxymethylene/organo montmorillonite (POM/Mont) nanocomposites were prepared by melt direct intercalation, and the basal spacing of montmorillonite was detected by X ray diffractometer(XRD). The nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of polyoxymethylene(POM) and POM/Mont nanocomposite were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The Jeziorny, Ozawa and Liu methods were employed to analyze the DSC data. The results showed that both Jeziorny and Liu methods could describe this system very well. The activation energies evaluated by Cebe method were 334 6 kJ/mol and 196 9 kJ/mol for the nonisothermal crystallization of POM and POM/Mont nanocomposite, respectively. Intercalation of organic montmorillonite into POM decreased its activation energy and half time of crystallization, playing a role as a nucleating agent for nonisothermal crystallization of POM.
