Abstract:Anatase TiO 2 nanotubes were prepared from tetrabutyl titanate(Ti(OC 4H 9) 4) using porous alumina as a template. The nanotubes exhibited uniform diameter, but rough walls and consisted of small crystals. They manifest high photocatalytic activity in the degradation of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) with bubbling air. About 30% SDBS was degraded under 20 min irradiation. UV vis spectra and the structure identification revealed that the TiO 2 nanotubes have greater energy gap, less possibility for the combination of electron hole pairs, to give stronger redox ability and higher photocatalytic activity than TiO 2 film.
