Abstract:A model potential has been used to describe the effective field experenced by the transition K-electron. Under the Oppenheimer-Brinkman- Kramers approximation, we have developed a new method which is used to calculate the K-shell electron capture cross sections. This method is called the model potential Oppenheimer-Brinkman-Kramers approximation (MPOBK) . In the present method, the effective potential is chosen to make the binding energy of the transition K-electron equal to its ionization potential and the K-shell electron capture cross section is an analytical expression. For H+-C,N,0, and Ne collisions, the present theoretical results are in good agreement with experimental data in the intermediate-high energy region.
