In this paper, we present a new method for the automated detection of sperm whale regular clicks and creaks based on statistical computations. In the first stage, a spectrogram is computed from the input waveform, followed by a noise normalisation process. A frequency domain filter is then applied, and the energy accumulated in each time frame is calculated. Two-second time-windows are then classified as containing either regular clicks, creaks, or noise based on statistical parameters using a neural network classifier. Finally, previously obtained statistical parameters are used to implement an energy-based detection criterion for the classified time-windows. Individual regular clicks and creaks are isolated by linking contiguous detected time frames. The proposed method was tested on five recordings of sperm whale sounds. Comparison of the detection performances to hand-labelled regular clicks and creaks revealed that this method outperforms two recently reported waveform-based methods when working with the same recordings files. An average percentage of detection of 86.97% was attained for the set of files. This method consumes also little computation time. 相似文献

Studies on reptilian sperm morphology have shown that variation exists at various taxonomic levels but studies on the ontogeny of variation are rare. Sperm development follows a generalized bauplan that includes acrosome development, nuclear condensation and elongation, and flagellar development. However, minute differences can be observed such as the presence/absence of manchette microtubules, structural organization during nuclear condensation, and presence/absence of a nuclear lacuna. The purpose of this investigation was to examine sperm development within the Sceloporus genus. The process begins with the development of an acrosomal complex from Golgi vesicles followed by nuclear condensation and elongation, which results in the presence of a nuclear lacuna. As the acrosomal complex differentiates, flagellar development commences with elongation of the distal centriole. Spermatid development culminates in a mature spermatid with a highly differentiated acrosomal complex, a condensed nucleus with a nuclear lacuna, and a differentiated flagellum. Although the overall developmental pattern is consistent with other squamate species, minute differences are observed, even within the same genus. For example there is variation in the presence/absence of an endoplasmic reticulum complex during acrosome development, presence/absence of a nuclear lacuna, and presence/absence of manchette microtubules within the three species of Sceloporus studied to date. Future studies concerning sperm morphology in closely related species will aid in our understanding of variation in sperm development and may prove to be useful in testing phylogenetic and evolutionary hypotheses. 相似文献

采用HNO3-H2O2和氨水-甘露醇两种方法处理样品,电感耦合等离子体质谱法(ICP-MS)测定血液和精液中的硼。Be作内标补偿基体效应,并用标准加入法验证了方法的可靠性,标准加入法与外标法测定结果相吻合。在测定B的同时,还可进行Cr、Cu、Cd、Ba、Sr、Mn、Co、Tl、Li、Pb、Zn、Sc、Ti、V、As等多元素测定。两种样品处理方法的测定值呈显著正相关(r=0.99919)。方法检出限为0.11ng/mL(氨水-甘露醇法),0.06ng/mL(HNO3-H2O2)。已用于测定某硼矿区血液和精液样品中的硼。 相似文献

In the sperm nuclei selenium is present only in form of a single selenoenzyme, the sperm nuclei glutathione peroxidase (snGPx), involved in processes to secure the structural stability of the nuclear chromatin. As changes in its expression may affect sperm function, its analysis is of interest in the diagnosis of male infertility. A method has been developed which by removal of the other selenium compounds present in other sperm components and measurement of the concentration of selenium in the purified human sperm nuclei by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) allows the quantitative analysis of this enzyme. As the purification resulted in yields in the range of only 150 μg nuclei/ml semen and the amount of purified nuclei in the sample could only be determined by weighing, the main analytical difficulty arose from the accurate determination of the sample masses. The procedure includes preparation of purified sperm nuclei, measurement of the sample mass and direct selenium analysis in the suspensions of the compact sperm nuclei without prior digestion of the matter, using a palladium matrix modifier, a spectrometer with Zeeman background correction and a graphite atomizer with L'vov platform. The detection limit for the determination of selenium was 8.4 pg. The quality control of the results by means of instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) showed the reliability of the selenium determination by ETAAS. The procedure proved to be suitable to analyze selenium and thus snGPx in very small amounts of purified human sperm nuclei. 相似文献

Previous studies on the spermatogenesis of tenebrionid beetles showed the unusual formation of two antiparallel sperm bundles per cyst. In this work we reported this feature also in Tribolium castaneum using light and transmission electron microscopy. The sperm structure of T. castaneum, similar to other tenebrionids, consists of a three-layered acrosome, an elongated nucleus and a flagellum with a 9 + 9 + 2 axoneme, two accessory bodies and two asymmetric mitochondrial derivatives. The presence of two antiparallel sperm bundles per cyst also in Meloidae and Rhipiphoridae suggests that it is a strong trait synapomorphic for Tenebrionoidea. The huge degeneration of whole sperm cells in several cysts of testes during spermiogenesis is also described. 相似文献

A new method of electrochemical probe has been proposed for the determination of Herring Sperm DNA (DNA) based on its interaction with Basic Brown G (BBG). The electrochemical behavior of interaction of BBG with DNA was investigated on Hg electrode. In 0.1 mol L−1 NH3-NH4Cl buffer solution (pH 8.0), BBG can be reduced on Hg electrode with a well-defined voltammetric peak at −0.67 V (versus SCE). In the presence of DNA, the reduction peak current of BBG decreases and the peak potential shifts to a more positive potential without the appearance of new peak. The study shows that a new BBG-DNA complex is formed by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and spectrophotometry. The decrease of the second order derivative of reductive peak current (Δi″p) of BBG is proportional to the concentration of DNA in the range of 0.10-36 μg mL−1. Limit of detection of DNA is 0.04 μg mL−1. DNA of Hepatitis B Virus in serum samples was determined satisfactorily. Additionally, the binding mechanism was preliminarily discussed. The mode of interaction between BBG and DNA was found to be intercalation binding. 相似文献
