正§8.6相对论在GPS(全球定位系统)中的应用相对论在许多人的心目中有如下特点:①新奇有趣;②难度颇高;③毫不实用.下面谈谈特点③.狭义相对论在日常生活中毫不实用的关键原因是日常接触到的速率都太低.一旦涉足高能物理学领域,由于高能粒子通常都有很高的速率,狭义相对论就大有用武之地,而且变得不可或缺.然而,与物理学的其他分支相比,狭义相对论在国民经济和日常生活中的应用似乎还是非常罕见.至于广义相对论,虽然它在近代天体物理学(特别是黑洞和宇宙论)中必不可少,但过去一直认为它与国计民生以及日常生活毫无关联.有趣的是,有一件与日常生活息息相关

天体物理学指引地球天气研究

<正> 一种模拟外层空间流体流动的数学方法在地球上也有实际的应用。 超新星、太阳耀斑和恒星的核生成,看来距气象学所隶属的地球世界颇为遥远。但是一种为模拟恒星对流和超声速喷流这些剧烈过程而发展起来的数学方法,现在也可以模拟看来不规则的普通天气问题。

Two New Solutions of Non-constant-α Force-Free Magnetic Field

Two new solutions for non-constant-α force-free magnetic field are found analytically. Implications of the results to astrophysical solar plasmas as well tokamak plasmas are discussed.     

Charge coupled devices （CCD） photometry and long-term optical variability of gamma-ray-loud BL Lacertae object Mkn 421

Evidence for the long-term optical curve variability and colour behaviour of the BL Lac object Mkn 421 is presented. Our results show that the amplitude of the optical variations of Mkn 421 is only about {\Delta} B=4.7 magnitude in the B-band for its photometric history from 1899 to 2002. The results of optical photometric monitoring of the Mkn 421 from April 2000 to Jan 2002 are provided. During our observation, Mkn 421 shows significant rapid variations and exhibits short time variability of 2.42 hours in the B band. A strong correlation between the B-V colour index and the magnitude in the B band is found. Our charge coupled device (CCD) photometry of Mkn 421 shows that the measured results are in good agreement with the predicted optical variability period of about 23 years.     

Neutron Star Matter Including Delta Isobars

In this paper a new phase structure of neutron star matter including nucleons and delta isobars is presented. Particle fractions populated and pion condensations in neutron star matter are investigated in this model. The existence of the pion condensations can postpone the appearance of delta isobars. We found that both the pion condensation and reduce of the ratio of delta isobar to nucleons couplings can soften the corresponding equation of state. The maximum masses and their corresponding radii of neutron stars are calculated, and the obtained values are in observational region.     

Classical and quantum wormholes with tachyon field

The wormhole equations are presented in the presence of tachyon field. Specializing at some values of ω(the ratio of pressure to energy density), we find a family of classical and quantum wormhole solutions.
