Parabolic subgroups are the building blocks of Artin groups. This paper extends previous results of Cumplido, Gebhardt, Gonzales-Meneses and Wiest, known only for parabolic subgroups of finite type Artin groups, to parabolic subgroups of FC-type Artin groups. We show that the class of finite type parabolic subgroups is closed under intersection. We also study an analog of the curve complex for mapping class group constructed by Cumplido et al. using parabolic subgroups. We extend the construction of this complex, called the complex of parabolic subgroups, to FC-type Artin groups. We show that this simplicial complex is, in most cases, infinite diameter and conjecture that it is δ-hyperbolic. 相似文献

A technique to do step planar extension on polymer melts has been developed using a rectangular channel with lubricated walls and the linear motor of the Rheometrics System Four rheometer. Using this method we probe the stress relaxation of two polymer melts, a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and a highly branched low density polyethylene (IUPAC X), and compare the step planar extensional data to step shear data. Since a step planar deformation is theoretically equivalent to a step shear in a rotating frame of reference, we expect that the nonlinear modulus for step planar extension should be equivalent to that for step shear. Although we find the time dependence of the stress relaxation modulus to be the same in both shear and planar extension, the strain dependence is surprisingly different for the two experiments. 相似文献

Starting from the axiomatic definition of finitely maxitive T-conditional possibility (where T is a continuous triangular norm), the paper aims at a comprehensive and self-contained treatment of coherence and extension of a possibilistic assessment defined on an arbitrary set of conditional events. Coherence (or consistence with a T-conditional possibility) is characterized either in terms of existence of a linearly ordered class of finitely maxitive possibility measures (T-nested class) agreeing with the assessment, or in terms of solvability of a finite sequence of nonlinear systems for every finite subfamily of conditional events. Coherence reveals to be a necessary and sufficient condition for the extendibility of an assessment to any superset of conditional events and, in the case of T equal to the minimum or a strict t-norm, the set of coherent values for the possibility of a new conditional event can be computed solving two optimization problems over a finite sequence of nonlinear systems for every finite subfamily of conditional events. 相似文献

Ample fields play an important role in possibility theory. These fields of subsets of a universe, which are additionally closed under arbitrary unions, act as the natural domains for possibility measures. A set provided with an ample field is then called an ample space. In this paper we generalise Wang's notions of product ample field and product ample space. We make a topological study of ample spaces and their products, and introduce ample subspaces, extensions and one-point extensions of ample spaces. In this way, a first step towards a mathematical theory of possibilistic processes is made. 相似文献

An important tool for the construction of tight wavelet frames is the Unitary Extension Principle first formulated in the Fourier-domain by Ron and Shen. We show that the time-domain analogue of this principle provides a unified approach to the construction of tight frames based on many variations of multiresolution analyses, e.g., regular refinements of bounded L-shaped domains, refinements of subdivision surfaces around irregular vertices, and nonstationary subdivision. We consider the case of nonnegative refinement coefficients and develop a fully local construction method for tight frames. Especially, in the shift-invariant setting, our construction produces the same tight frame generators as the Unitary Extension Principle. 相似文献
