Full cross-diffusion limit in the stationary Shigesada-Kawasaki-Teramoto model

This paper studies the asymptotic behavior of coexistence steady-states of the Shigesada-Kawasaki-Teramoto model as both cross-diffusion coefficients tend to infinity at the same rate. In the case when either one of two cross-diffusion coefficients tends to infinity, Lou and Ni [18] derived a couple of limiting systems, which characterize the asymptotic behavior of coexistence steady-states. Recently, a formal observation by Kan-on [10] implied the existence of a limiting system including the nonstationary problem as both cross-diffusion coefficients tend to infinity at the same rate. This paper gives a rigorous proof of his observation as far as the stationary problem. As a key ingredient of the proof, we establish a uniform $L^{\infty }$ estimate for all steady-states. Thanks to this a priori estimate, we show that the asymptotic profile of coexistence steady-states can be characterized by a solution of the limiting system.     

Photocatalytic Cr(VI) sequestration and photo-Fenton bisphenol A decomposition over white light responsive PANI/MIL-88A(Fe)

Polyaniline (PANI)/MIL-88A(Fe) (Px@M88) composites were constructed through a simple one-pot hydrothermal method. The photocatalytic and photo-Fenton activities of Px@M88 composites toward reduction of Cr(VI) and degradation organic pollutants were explored by white light irradiation. PANI, as a conductive polymer, can improve MIL-88A(Fe)’s conductivity and the efficiency of photogenerated e⁻–h⁺ pair separation. In the presence of H₂O₂, a photo-Fenton reaction occured to boost the degradation efficiency of organic pollutants like bisphenol A. In addition, P9@M88 showed excellent recycling and stability in cycling experiments. Finally, a possible reaction mechanism for photocatalytic degradation was proposed and verified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electron spin resonance determination and electrochemical characterizations.     

The metabolites and biotransformation pathways in vivo after oral administration of ocotillol,RT5, and PF11

Ocotillol, pseudo-ginsenoside RT5 (RT₅), and pseudo-ginsenoside F₁₁ (PF₁₁) are ocotillol-type saponins that have the same aglycone structure but with different numbers of glucose at the C-6 position. In this study, the metabolites of ocotillol, RT₅, and PF₁₁ in rat plasma, stomach, intestine, urine, and feces after oral administration were investigated by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The results showed that RT₅ was easily biotransformed into metabolites in vivo, whereas PF₁₁ and RT₅ were difficult to be biotransformed. Hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, dehydration, deglycosylation, deoxygenation, hydration, phosphorylation, deoxidation, glucuronidation, and reactions combining amino acid were speculated to be involved in the biotransformation of ocotillol, RT₅, and PF₁₁. Based on the structural analysis of metabolites, it was deduced that hydrogenation, dehydration, deoxidation, and reactions combining amino acid occurred on the aglycone structure, whereas deglycosylation, hydration, and phosphorylation occurred on the glycosyl chain. Further, metabolites in plasma, urine, feces, and tissues were different: First, glucuronidation products were found in urine, stomach, intestine, and feces, but not in plasma. Second, the ocotillol prototype was not identified in urine samples. Third, the RT₅ prototype was found in stomach, intestine, feces, and urine, but not in plasma.     

Characterization of embeddings of Sobolev-type spaces into generalized Hölder spaces defined by Lp-modulus of smoothness

We prove a sharp estimate for the k-modulus of smoothness, modelled upon a $L^p$-Lebesgue space, of a function f in $W^k{L}^{\frac{pn}{n+kp},p}(\mathrm{\Omega })$, where Ω is a domain with minimally smooth boundary and finite Lebesgue measure, $k,n\in \mathbb{N}$, $k<n$ and $\frac{n}{n?k}<p<+\infty$. This sharp estimate is used to establish necessary and sufficient conditions for continuous embeddings of Sobolev-type spaces into generalized Hölder spaces defined by means of the k-modulus of smoothness. General results are illustrated with examples. In particular, we obtain a generalization of the classical Jawerth embeddings.     

Regular characters of classical groups over complete discrete valuation rings

Let $\mathfrak{o}$ be a complete discrete valuation ring with finite residue field $\mathsf{k}$ of odd characteristic, and let G be a symplectic or special orthogonal group scheme over $\mathfrak{o}$. For any $?\in \mathbb{N}$ let $G^{?}$ denote the ?-th principal congruence subgroup of $\mathbf{G}(\mathfrak{o})$. An irreducible character of the group $\mathbf{G}(\mathfrak{o})$ is said to be regular if it is trivial on a subgroup $G^{?+1}$ for some ?, and if its restriction to $G^{?}/G^{?+1}?\mathrm{Lie}(\mathbf{G})(\mathsf{k})$ consists of characters of minimal $\mathbf{G}({\mathsf{k}}^{\mathrm{alg}})$-stabilizer dimension. In the present paper we consider the regular characters of such classical groups over $\mathfrak{o}$, and construct and enumerate all regular characters of $\mathbf{G}(\mathfrak{o})$, when the characteristic of $\mathsf{k}$ is greater than two. As a result, we compute the regular part of their representation zeta function.
