Two techniques of measurements of thin film magnetostriction are compared: direct, when changes of the substrate curvature caused by the film magnetization are controlled, and inverse (“indirect”), when the modification of the magnetic anisotropy induced by the substrate deformation (usually bending) is measured. We demonstrate how both the elastic strength of the substrate and the effective magneto-mechanical coupling between the substrate deformation and magnetic anisotropy of the film depend on different conditions of bending. Equations to be used for magnetostriction value determination in typical cases are given and critical parameters for the corresponding approximations are identified. 相似文献

Natural vibrations in a system of parallel micro-and nanotubes attached horizontally to an elastic substrate are analyzed.
It is shown that several first eigenfrequencies corresponding to flexural vibrations of a single nanotube can be identified
with the use of the linear shell theory within the frequency spectrum of an “integrated system” consisting of a substrate
and nanotubes. This allows the flexural rigidity of a single nanotube to be evaluated. The resultant conclusion is supported
by finite-element modeling based on the three-dimensional theory of electroelasticity. Results of a modal analysis of gallium
arsenide nanotubes are presented.

Spontaneous thermal expansion of nematic elastomers 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We study the monodomain (single-crystal) nematic elastomer materials, all side-chain siloxane polymers with the same mesogenic
groups and crosslinking density, but differing in the type of crosslinking. Increasing the proportion of long di-functional
segments of main-chain nematic polymer, acting as network crosslinking, results in dramatic changes in the uniaxial equilibrium
thermal expansion on cooling from the isotropic phase. At higher concentration of main chains their behaviour dominates the
elastomer properties. At low concentration of main-chain material, we detect two distinct transitions at different temperatures,
one attributed to the main-chain, the other to the side-chain component. The effective uniaxial anisotropy of nematic rubber,
r(T) = / proportional to the effective nematic order parameter Q(T), is given by an average of the two components and thus reflects the two-transition nature of thermal expansion. The experimental
data is compared with the theoretical model of ideal nematic elastomers; applications in high-amplitude thermal actuators
are discussed in the end.

An interpretation of the Gough-Joule-Effect from an atomistic point of view is given by a special investigation of lattice
vibrations using a non-interacting model. The calculations are restricted to crystals with ideal crystal structure built up
of only one kind of particles. Approximate analytical formulas are derived. A comparison between the classical macroscopic
theory and the here presented microscopic calculations is drawn.

An approach to the optimal (from the viewpoint of minimum energy consumption) control of the characteristics of coupled fields is illustrated with the example of an antiplane dynamic problem of electroelasticity for a piezoceramic layer with a tunnel hole. The vibrations in the layer are excited by time-dependent harmonic loads of two types: by the difference of electric potentials applied to a pair of infinitely long electrodes located on the surface of the hole and by shear forces or electric charges continuously distributed on the given sections of the layer base, which are assumed as control actions. The inverse problem is solved by using the solution of the corresponding direct mixed antiplane problem of electroelasticity, with the help of which the optimization problem is reduced to the -problem of moments. The functions of optimal control allowing one, for example, to disconnect the external circuit of the generator of electric voltage are given. 相似文献

Harmonic vibrations of a piezoceramic half-space weakened by a tunnel hole with a system of active surface electrodes are investigated. Based on integral representations for solutions to two types of conditions on the boundary of the half-space, the boundary-value problem of electroelasticity is reduced to a system of singular integrodifferential equations of the second kind. The results of parametric investigations characterizing the behavior of the electroelastic field components on the boundary and in the region of a piecewise-homogeneous half-space are presented. 相似文献

An antiplane mixed boundary-value problem of electroelasticity is considered for a hollow piezoceramic cylinder with an arbitrary system of active surface electrodes generating its harmonic vibrations. The problem is solved using a method elaborated earlier for investigating vibrations of a solid piezoceramic cylinder with a system of active surface electrodes. The scheme of numerical solution of the obtained singular integro-differential equations of the boundary-value problem is based on the quadrature method. Calculation results are presented that describe the amplitude-frequency characteristics of a hollow cylinder and the behavior of some mechanical and electric quantities both within the cylinder and on its boundary. 相似文献
