Summary Thermally stimulated depolarization currents (TSDC) of atactic (a), syndiotactic (s) and isotactic (i) PMMA and mixtures ofs- andi-PMMA were measured. In pure tactic PMMA, TSDC peak was obtained at a temperature corresponding to the glass transition temperature of each PMMA. TSDC of mixtures isolated as precipitates from 1/1 and 1/2 (i/sweight ratio) mixed solutions showed a peak which can be attributed to the glass transition temperature of the stereocomplex. TSDC of original l/1 mixture showed two peaks which are ascribed to the glass transition temperature of residual i-PMMA and the stereocomplex. The results suggests that stereocomplex formation occurs ini/s weight ratio of 1/2 independent of the way of preparation. With 9 figures and 1 table  相似文献

Stereoblock poly(lactic acid) consisting of D- and L-lactate stereosequences can be successfully synthesized by solid-state polycondensation of a 1:1 mixture of poly(L-lactic acid) and poly(D-lactic acid). In the first step, melt-polycondensation of L- and D-lactic acids is conducted to synthesize poly(L-lactic acid) and poly(D-lactic acid) with a medium-molecular-weight, respectively. In the next step, these poly(L-lactic acid) and poly(D-lactic acid) are melt-blended in 1:1 ratio to allow formation of their stereocomplex. In the last step, this melt-blend is subjected to solid-state polycondensation at temperature where the dehydrative condensation is allowed to promote chain extension in the amorphous phase with the stereocomplex crystals preserved. Finally, stereoblock poly(lactic acid) having high-molecular-weight is obtained. The stereoblock poly(lactic acid) synthesized by this way shows a higher melting temperature in consequence of the controlled block lengths and the resulting higher-molecular-weight. The product characterization as well as the optimization of the polymerization conditions is described. Changes in M(w) of stereoblock poly(lactic acid) (sb-PLA) as a function of the reaction time.  相似文献

The ABCBA pentablock copolymers (p-d -l -PPS) comprising poly(d -lactide) (PDLA: A), poly(l -lactide) (PLLA: B) and poly(propylene succinate) (PPS: C) were successfully synthesized by two-step ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of d - and l -lactide using a dihydroxy-terminated PPS as a macro-initiator. The pentablock copolymers revealed the high stereocomplex (sc) crystallinity, thermal stability and elastomeric property in their solution-cast films. It was found that the Tg was found to be proportional to the PPS content, whereas the Tm was proportional to their average block length. The thermal resistivity of the copolymer films was found to be as high as 202°C owing to their sc formation. The copolymers also showed improved stereocomplexibility compared to the enantiomeric mixtures of triblock copolymers (PLLA-PPS-PLLA and PDLA-PPS-PDLA) having similar PLLA and PDLA chain lengths. These pentablock copolymers can afford thermoplastic elastomers or flexible plastic materials having a 100% bio-based content, showing high heat-resistive property.  相似文献

Simultaneous solid‐state polycondensation (SSP) of the powdery prepolymers of poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA) and poly(D ‐lactic acid) (PDLA) can produce entire stereocomplexed poly(lactic acid)s (sc‐PLA) with high molecular weight and can be an alternative synthetic route to sc‐PLA. Ordinary melt polycondensations of L ‐ and D ‐lactic acids gave the PLLA and PDLA prepolymers having medium molecular weight which were pulverized for blending in 1:1 ratio. The resultant powder blends were then subjected to SSP at 130–160 °C for 30 h under a reduced pressure of 0.5 Torr. Some of the products thus obtained attained a molecular weight (Mw) as high as 200 kDa, consisting of stereoblock copolymer of PLLA and PDLA. A small amount of the stereocomplex should be formed in the boundaries of the partially melted PLLA and PDLA where the hetero‐chain connection is induced to generate the blocky components. The resultant SSP products showed predominant stereocomplexation after their melt‐processing in the presence of the stereoblock components in spite of containing a small amount of racemic sequences in the homo‐chiral PLLA and PDLA chains. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Starburst triblock copolymers consisting of 8‐arm poly(ethylene glycol) (8‐arm PEG) and biodegradable poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) or its enantiomer poly(D ‐lactide) (PDLA), 8‐arm PEG‐b‐PLLA‐b‐PEG ( Stri‐L ), and 8‐arm PEG‐b‐PDLA‐b‐PEG ( Stri‐D ) were synthesized. An aqueous solution of a 1:1 mixture ( Stri‐Mix ) of Stri‐L and Stri‐D assumed a sol state at room temperature, but instantaneously formed a physically crosslinked hydrogel in response to increasing temperature. The resulting hydrogel exhibited a high‐storage modulus (9.8 kPa) at 37 °C. Interestingly, once formed at the transition temperature, the hydrogel was stable even after cooling below the transition temperature. The hydrogel formation process was irreversible because of the formation of stable stereocomplexes. In aqueous solution, gradual hydrolytic erosion was observed because of degradation of the hydrogel. The combination of rapid temperature‐triggered irreversible hydrogel formation, high‐mechanical strength, and degradation behavior render this polymer mixture system suitable for use in injectable biomedical materials, for example, as a drug delivery system for bioactive reagents or a biodegradable scaffold for tissue engineering. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Di‐stereoblock polylactides (di‐sb‐PLA: PLLA‐b‐PDLA) having high molecular weight (Mn > 100 kDa) were successfully synthesized by two‐step ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of L ‐ and D ‐lactides using tin(2‐ethylhexanoate) as a catalyst. By optimizing the polymerization conditions, the block sequences were well regulated at non‐equivalent feed ratios of PLLA and PDLA. This synthetic method consisted of three stages: (1) polymerization of either L ‐ or D ‐lactide to obtain a PLLA or PDLA prepolymer with a molecular weight less than 50 kDa, (2) purification of the obtained prepolymer to remove residual lactide, and (3) polymerization of the enantiomeric lactide in the presence of the purified prepolymer. Their 13C and 31P NMR spectra of the resultant di‐sb‐PLAs strongly supported their di‐stereo block structure. These di‐sb‐PLAs, having weight‐average molecular weights higher than 150 kDa, were fabricated into polymer films by solution casting and showed exclusive stereocomplexation. The thermomechanical analysis of the films revealed that their heat deformation temperature was limited probably because of their low crystallinity owing to the non‐equivalent PLLA/PDLA ratio. The blend systems of the di‐sb‐PLAs having complementary stereo‐sequences (the one with a long PLLA block and the other with long PDLA block) were also prepared and characterized to enhance the sc crystallinity. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Spontaneous stereocomplex aggregation of diblock poly(styrene)‐b‐poly(L ‐lactide) PS‐b‐PLLA/poly(D ‐lactide) PDLA pairs has been investigated under ambient temperature in tetrahydrofuran solution. First, diblock PS260b‐PLLA165 and PS260b‐PDLA162 bearing similar lengths of respective PLLA and PDLA blocks were synthesized through controlled atom‐transfer radical polymerization of styrene, and a subsequent living ring‐opening polymerization of optically pure lactides, and their structures were further characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and gel‐permeation chromatography (GPC). Subsequently, new enantiomeric poly(D ‐lactide) stabilized core‐shell fluorescent CdSe quantum dots (CdSe/PDLA QD) were designed and prepared as sensitive fluorescence labels to shed new lights on the spontaneous stereocomplex aggregation in THF, which was mediated by stereocomplexation of the PLLA and PDLA chains. Upon simply mixing two individual THF solution of diblock PS260b‐PLLA165 and HO‐PDLA30‐SH, spontaneous stereocomplex aggregation was studied, and the aggregated uniform spherical particles were observed by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) to exhibit average particle diameters of 2.0 μm. Finally, utilizing the prepared CdSe/PDLA QDs as new fluorescent labels, morphologies of the spontaneous aggregates by new diblock PS260b‐PLLA165/HO‐PDLA30‐SH pair were for the first time directly visualized by a confocal laser scanning fluorescence microscopy (CLSFM). These results might suggest alternative ways to simply prepare functional fluorescent particles with tunable diameter sizes and would be helpful to understand the mechanism of stereocomplex particle aggregation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, the poly(L-lactide)/poly(D-lactide)(PLLA/PDLA) blends with different optical purities of PLLA and various molecular weights of PDLA are prepared by solution mixing, and the stereocomplex formation and phase separation behaviors of these blends are investigated. Results reveal that optical purity and molecular weight do not vary the crystal structure of PLA stereocomplex(sc) and homochiral crystallites(hc). As the optical purity increasing in the blends, the melting temperature of sc(Tsc) and the content of sc(ΔHsc) increased, while the melting temperature of hc(Thm) hardly changes, although the content of hc(ΔHhm) decreased gradually. The Tsc and ΔHsc are also enhanced as the molecular weight of PDLA reduces, and the ΔHhm reduces rapidly even though the Thm does not vary apparently. With lower optical purities of PLLA and higher molecular weights of PDLA, three types of crystals form in the blends, i.e., PLA sc, PLLA hc and PDLA hc. As molecular weight decreases and optical purity enhances, the crystal phase decreases to two(sc and PDLA hc), and one(sc) finally. This investigation indicates that the phase separation behavior between PLLA and PDLA in the PLLA/PDLA blends not only depends on molecular weights, but also relies on the optical purities of polymers.  相似文献

Poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐poly(l ‐lactic acid)‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM‐b‐PLLA‐b‐PNIPAAM) and PNIPAAM‐b‐PDLA‐b‐PNIPAAM triblock copolymers with varying polylactic acid (PLA) lengths are synthesized using a combination of ring‐opening polymerization and atom‐transfer radical polymerization. Results of 1H NMR and gel permeation chromatography analyses show that the copolymers have a well‐defined triblock structure and the PLA segment lengths can be readily controlled with monomer feed ratio. Stereocomplexation between the enantiomeric PLA segments is confirmed with differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering. Dynamic light scattering experiments show that (1) the LCST of PNIPAAM in water could be tailored from 32 °C up to 38.5 °C by increasing the length of PLA segments and mixing copolymers of similar molecular weight with enantiomeric PLA segments to induce stereocomplexation, and (2) the LCST of each mixed copolymer system could be tailored within a 2–3 °C range of body temperature by manipulating the ratio of the enantiomeric copolymers in solution.
