Ill-posedness of the Camassa–Holm and related equations in the critical space

We prove norm inflation and hence ill-posedness for a class of shallow water wave equations, such as the Camassa–Holm equation, Degasperis–Procesi equation and Novikov equation etc., in the critical Sobolev space $H^{3/2}$ and even in the Besov space $B_{p,r}^{1+1/p}$ for $p\in [1,\infty ],r\in (1,\infty ]$. Our results cover both real-line and torus cases (only real-line case for Novikov), solving an open problem left in the previous works ([5], [14], [16]).     

In situ liquid SIMS analysis of uranium oxide

Trace analysis of nuclear materials in solid particles collected in the environment or particles in liquid slurry generated in nuclear material manufacturing processes can pinpoint elemental, organic, and isotopic signatures of nuclear fuel cycle activities and processes. Such information can support nuclear safeguards programs by increasing our ability to detect undeclared nuclear materials, routine activities for safeguarding at declared facilities, and illicit activities. However, trace radioactive material analysis in liquids and slurries is challenging using bulk approaches. For example, one drawback of sensitive analysis such as inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is that sample is consumed or destroyed as a result of the technical approach. We developed a vacuum compatible microfluidic interface to enable surface analysis of liquids and solid–liquid interactions using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). In this work, we illustrate the initial results from the analysis of liquid uranium oxide standard solutions using in situ liquid SIMS. Because the liquid SIMS analysis is almost nondestructive, the same sample can then be analyzed by other analytical techniques or saved for future reference. Consequently, multimodal analysis is possible. Our results demonstrate that in situ liquid SIMS can be used as a new approach to analyze radioactive materials in liquid and slurry forms of relevance to diverse applications.

Spin frustration-related behavior of mixed spin diamond chain

The magnetization of mixed spin-1/2, 1 Ising diamond chain with antiferromagnetic spin exchange interaction has been investigated by using the Monte Carlo simulation. Magnetization behaviors with different antiferromagnetic interactions are simulated under magnetic field at low temperature. The behaviors are studied in two different cases. In one case the absolute value of the interaction between two spin-1/2 atoms is the largest and in the other case it is not the largest. Multiple plateaus of magnetization M, such as plateaus at M=±1, M=0 and M=±0.566 are obtained. The plateaus at M=±0.566 correspond to two metastable states. The M=0 plateau may disappear at some specific values of spin exchange interactions. The spin configurations were checked when the plateaus appear. The dimmer and trimmer states are found.     

Cisplatin-induced alteration on membrane composition of A549 cells revealed by ToF-SIMS

Cisplatin has been clinically used for treatment of solid tumors such as non–small-cell lung cancer for decades. However, tumor resistance may be acquired with losing the antitumor activity of cisplatin. As cellular membrane is the first barrier that cisplatin has to overcome before its further action inside the cells, the membrane composition must play a vital role in the cisplatin uptake and excretion, which further influences cisplatin sensitivity. In this work, we applied time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) surface analysis combined with principle component analysis to distinguish the differences of cell membrane composition between non–small-cell lung cancer cells (A549) and its cisplatin resistant counterpart A549/DDP cells. The decreased phosphatidylcholine content and more abundant cholesterol were observed in the drug resistant cell surfaces, indicating the decreased membrane fluidity of A549/DDP cells. Moreover, we further compared membrane composition of A549 and A549/DDP cells after being treated with different concentrations of cisplatin. A higher composition level of proteins was discovered on all groups of A549/DDP cell membranes. The altered surface chemistry of cellular membranes induced by cisplatin indicates the significance of membrane structures in the drug resistance, which deserves further investigations to this regard.     

Control of LHCD on the HL-2A Tokamak

in order to study non-indutive plasma current production, the lower hybrid current drive（LHCD） experiment on the HL-2A tokamak is carried out. Simultaneously a microcomputer has been used to control the whole LHCD system. During the experiment this year, we can monitor and protect the LHCD system by use of the microcomputer control system, which will imediately switch off the microwave power to be launched into the tokamak if the plasma is disrupted. All this ensure that the microwave is injected into the equipment correctly.     

High Voltage Pulse Power and the Technics for the Capacitor Power-Storage Type

Lower hybrid wave （LHW）, electro cyclotron （EC） and neutral beam injection （NBI） etc. are the important methods of auxiliary heating. They would be devoted to the HL-2A tokamak step by step. In order to satisfy the debug of each system and the need of the experiment, the system should be equipped with high voltage pulse power （HVPP） according to the requirement.     

多层薄膜模型分析光纤光栅的一个新方法

光纤光栅可以看作为周期性高、低折射率相间的多层落膜叠合结构。用波动方法推导了计算这一结构总反射系数的一个新的循环公式。用这一方法计算了均匀光纤光栅布格拉格相位匹配、失配情况和非均匀光纤光栅的反射系数，并将其结果与用耦合波理论、Rouard方法以及基础矩阵方法的结果进行了比较，并检验了这些方法的精度。
