There is, at present, no analytic solution that extends Child-Langmuir space-charge-limited emission beyond 1D. Herein, we investigate the characteristics of planar diode electron emission in 2D space with the emphasis on the transition region between the beam and vacuum. Current density above that predicted by Child-Langmuir is observed near the beam edges in a 2D finite element, electrostatic ray-tracing code. The properties of these increased current density "wings" are examined and then discussed in terms of their applications to cathodes which have large reservoirs of free electrons. 相似文献

Using the approach of Rulla (1996 SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 33, 68-87)for analysing the time discretization error and assuming moreregularity on the initial data, we improve on the error boundderived by Barrett and Blowey (1996 IMA J. Numer. Anal. 16,257-287) for a fully practical piecewise linear finite elementapproximation with a backward Euler time discretization of amodel for phase separation of a multi-component alloy. 相似文献

We developed a numerical setup to simulate swirling jet flow undergoing vortex breakdown. Our simulation code CONCYL solves the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in cylindrical coordinates using high-order numerical schemes. A nozzle is included in the computational domain to account for more realistic inflow boundary conditions. Preliminary results of a Re = 5000 compressible swirling jet at Mach number M a = 0.6 with an azimuthal velocity as high as the maximum axial velocity (swirl number S = 1.0 ) capture the fundamental characteristics of this flow type: At a certain point in time the jet spreads and develops into a conical vortex breakdown. A stagnation point-flow in the vicinity of the jet axis is clearly visible with the stagnation point located close to the nozzle exit. The stagnation point precesses in time around the jet axis, moving up- and downstream. (© 2011 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

We consider a model for phase separation of a multi-componentalloy with a concentration-dependent mobility matrix and logarithmicfree energy. In particular we prove that there exists a uniquesolution for sufficiently smooth initial data. Further, we provean error bound for a fully practical piecewise linear finiteelement approximation in one and two space dimensions. Finallynumerical experiments with three components in one space dimensionare presented. 相似文献
