Kinetic equations for a finely dispersed rarefied gas suspension

Starting from the Liouville equation, the kinetic equations for a finely dispersed rarefied gas-particle medium are derived. The size of the suspension particles is assumed to be much less than the free path of the gas molecules, while their density is so small that interaction between the particles can be neglected. It is shown that in general the dynamics of this gas suspension can be described by a system of two kinetic equations, which differ radically from the Boltzmann equations. Novosibirsk. On the longitudinal magnetic susceptibility of fractal ferrodielectrics

The longitudinal component of the magnetic susceptibility tensor χ _zz of a fractal ferrodielectric with dimension d _F = 3 − ɛ, where ɛ > 0, is calculated. The magnon dispersion in this case is shown to be a strongly anisotropic function of the parameter ɛ which, in turn, leads to nontrivial frequency dependences of χ _zz .

Application of the R-functions method to the solution of elliptic PDEs (Poster Presentation)

In the current work, the basics of the theory of R-functions have been presented. Applications of this theory were shown on two model problems – Poisson equation and biharmonic equation – in complex two-dimensional domains both with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The solution is performed in conjunction with the Bubnov-Galerkin method. As the basis for approximation tensor products of monomials were taken. The convergence study includes the comparison of current results with the standard finite element solution and the dependence of the number of coordinate functions on the relative error in the maximum-norm. On fluctuations in liquids and gases

The Lagrangian formalism is used to derive a system of nonlinear inhomogeneous dissipative differential equations describing the nonlinear dynamics of interrelated fluctuations of density, δρ, and temperature, δT, in a medium. With these equations, the unstable (with respect to initial conditions) phase trajectory describing parameter fluctuations in the ρ-T plane was obtained. By numerically solving the equations, we show that δρ and δT oscillate in time almost periodically, which is typical of fluctuations.
