First-principles calculations are performed to obtain the dielectric function and loss spectra of bulk PdH(x). Hydrogen concentrations between x = 0 and 1 are considered. The calculated spectra are dominated by a broad peak that redshifts in energy with x. The obtained bulk dielectric function is employed to compute the loss spectra of PdH(x) spherical nanoparticles as a function of x. The dominant plasmon peak in the spherical nanoparticle is lowered in energy with respect to the bulk case. However, the dependence of the resonance energy on the hydrogen concentration is roughly similar to that in bulk.  相似文献

We present a review of the fundamental topics of Hartree–Fock theory in quantum chemistry. From the molecular Hamiltonian, using and discussing the Born–Oppenheimer approximation, we arrive at the Hartree and Hartree–Fock equations for the electronic problem. Special emphasis is placed on the most relevant mathematical aspects of the theoretical derivation of the final equations, and on the results regarding the existence and uniqueness of their solutions. All Hartree–Fock versions with different spin restrictions are systematically extracted from the general case, thus providing a unifying framework. The discretization of the one-electron orbital space is then reviewed and the Roothaan–Hall formalism introduced. This leads to an exposition of the basic underlying concepts related to the construction and selection of Gaussian basis sets, focusing on algorithmic efficiency issues. Finally, we close the review with a section in which the most relevant modern developments (especially those related to the design of linear-scaling methods) are commented on and linked to the issues discussed. The paper is intentionally introductory and rather self-contained, and may be useful for non-experts intending to use quantum chemical methods in interdisciplinary applications. Moreover, much material that can be found scattered in the literature has been put together to facilitate comprehension and to serve as a handy reference.  相似文献

After a survey of the solid–liquid transition, driven by phonon–phonon interactions, attention is next focussed on two phase transitions caused by electron–phonon interactions. These are (i) the Barden–Cooper–Schrieffer pure metal superconducting transition and (ii) the original Peierls instability. These have closely similar forms for the respective transition temperatures, both being related to energy gaps. Spin–phonon interactions are then discussed in relation to spin-Peierls materials. Finally, magnon–magnon interactions are treated in the context of the ferromagnetic–paramagnetic transition in the itinerant electron systems Fe, Co and Ni. Heuristic and phenomenological arguments, plus of course experiment, provide the basis for the conclusions drawn here.  相似文献

One of the innovative technological directions for the high-temperature superconductors has been persued by fabricating the heteroepitaxial multilayer structures such as superconductor-semiconductor heterostructures. In the present investigation, metal/superconductor/semiconductor (Ag/Tl-2223/CdSe) hetero-nanostructures have successfully been fabricated using dc electrodeposition technique and were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies. The measurement of junction capacitance as a function of biasing voltage was used for the estimation of junction built-in-potential (V D) and to study the charge distribution in a heterojunction. The Mott-Schottky plots were measured for each junction in dark and under the photo-irradiation. The effect of laser irradiation on C-V characteristics of hetero-nanostructure has been studied.  相似文献

Metal/superconductor/semiconductor (Ag/Hg-1212/CdSe) hetero-nanostructures have been fabricated using pulse-electrodeposition technique and are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies. The junction capacitance of Ag/Hg-1212, Hg-1212/CdSe and Ag/Hg-1212/CdSe heterojunctions is measured in dark and under laser irradiation at room temperature. The nature of the junction formed and built-in-junction potentials were determined. The increase in carrier concentration across the junction due to photo-irradiation has been observed.  相似文献

We report on a combined experimental and theoretical study of the spin-dependent relaxation processes in the electron system of an iron film on Cu(100). Spin-, time-, energy- and angle-resolved two-photon photoemission shows a strong characteristic dependence of the lifetime of photoexcited electrons on their spin and energy. Ab?initio calculations as well as a many-body treatment corroborate that the observed properties are determined by relaxation processes involving magnon emission. Thereby we demonstrate that magnon emission by hot electrons occurs on the femtosecond time scale and thus provides a significant source of ultrafast spin-flip processes. Furthermore, engineering of the magnon spectrum paves the way for tuning the dynamic properties of magnetic materials.  相似文献
