In this paper we have presented long period fiber grating (LPFG) as temperature sensor. Temperature based sensors have found a number of applications in commercial and industrial fields. In LPFG based temperature sensors, they respond to shift in various peak resonant wavelengths corresponding to various attenuation bands of the transmission spectrum. Temperature effect on the various attenuation bands of a LPFG have been investigated to create a highly sensitive measurement device. The temperature sensitivities of various attenuation bands of a LPFG over the wavelength region of 1.1–1.7 μm, for a grating period of 280 μm period, are obtained by monitoring the wavelength shift of each peak resonant wavelength with temperature increment of 20 °C, ranging from 0 °C to 100 °C.  相似文献

We have calculated cladding modes using both two layer (Graphical solution method) geometry and three layer geometry proposed by Erdogan. We utilize the unifying framework of families of convexity spaces for the treatment of various notions of planar convexity and the associated convex hulls. Our major goal is to prove the refinement and decomposition theorems for families of convexity spaces. These general theorems are then applied to two examples: restricted-oriented convex sets andNESW-convex sets. The applications demonstrate the usefulness of these general theorems, since they give rise to simple algorithms for the computation of the associated convex hulls of polygons.  相似文献

Addition of aqueous hydrogen peroxide significantly accelerates the substitution reactions of hydroxide salts with haloarenes bearing electron withdrawing substituents. A similar effect is observed in the reactions of hydroxide salts with halogenated heteroarenes. Reactions are carried out in water or water-THF at ambient temperature or at 50-60 °C.  相似文献

Three varieties of the closure of a set of iso-(oriented) rectangles, i.e., rectilin-early-oriented rectangles, are introduced. These are uni-directional, diagonal, and rectangular closure. First a strong decomposition theorem for diagonal closure in terms of uni-directional closure is proved. Then time and space optimal algorithms to compute uni-directional and diagonal closure, each running in O(nlogn) time and O(n) space, are described. An O(nlogn) time and space algorithm for rectangular closure is also described. The algorithm for diagonal closure has applications in database concurrency control: an O(nlogn) time and O(n) space algorithm for testing for safety and detecting deadlocks in locked transaction systems is obtained.  相似文献

We report that the p-xylylenediammonium ion (11) acts as a template in the cucurbit[n]uril forming reaction that biases the reaction toward the production of methylene bridged glycoluril hexamer (6C) and bis-nor-seco-CB[10]. Hexamer 6C is readily available on the gram scale by a one step synthetic procedure that avoids chromatography. Hexamer 6C undergoes macrocylization with (substituted) phthalaldehydes 12, 14, 15, and 18-in 9 M H(2)SO(4) or concd HCl at room temperature to deliver monofunctionalized CB[6] derivatives 13, 16, 17, and 19-that are poised for further functionalization reactions. The kinetics of the macrocyclization reaction between hexamer and formaldehyde or phthalaldehyde depends on the presence and identity of ammonium ions as templates. p-Xylylenediammonium ion (11) which barely fits inside CB[6] sized cavities acts as a negative template which slows down transformation of 6C and paraformaldehyde into CB[6]. In contrast, 11 and hexanediammonium ion (20) act as a positive template that promotes the macrocyclization reaction between 6C and 12 to deliver (±)-21 as a key intermediate along the mechanistic pathway to CB[6] derivatives. Naphthalene-CB[6] derivative 19 which contains both fluorophore and ureidyl C═O metal-ion (e.g., Eu(3+)) binding sites forms the basis for a fluorescence turn-on assay for suitable ammonium ions (e.g., hexanediammonium ion and histamine).  相似文献

Human poisoning due to consumption of seafood contaminated with phycotoxins is a worldwide problem, and routine monitoring programs have been implemented in various countries to protect human consumers. Following successive episodes of unexplained shellfish toxicity since 2005 in the Arcachon Bay on the French Atlantic coast, a national research program was set up to investigate these atypical toxic events. Part of this program was devoted to fit-for-purpose cell-based assays (CBA) as complementary tools to collect toxicity data on atypical positive-mouse bioassay shellfish extracts. A collaborative study involving five laboratories was conducted. The responses of human hepatic (HepG2), human intestinal (Caco2), and mouse neuronal (Neuro2a) cell lines exposed to three known lipophilic phycotoxins-okadaic acid (OA), azaspiracid-1 (AZA1), and pectenotoxin-2 (PTX2)-were investigated. A screening strategy composed of standard operating procedures and a decision tree for dose-response modeling and assay validation were designed after a round of "trial-and-error" process. For each toxin, the shape of the concentration-response curves and the IC(50) values were determined on the three cell lines. Whereas OA induced a similar response irrespective of the cell line (complete sigmoid), PTX2 was shown to be less toxic. AZA1 induced cytotoxicity only on HepG2 and Neuro2a, but not on Caco2. Intra- and inter-laboratory coefficients of variation of cell responses were large, with mean values ranging from 35 to 54 % and from 37 to 48 %, respectively. Investigating the responses of the selected cell lines to well-known toxins is the first step supporting the use of CBA among the panel of methods for characterizing atypical shellfish toxicity. Considering these successful results, the CBA strategy will be further applied to extracts of negative, spiked, and naturally contaminated shellfish tissues.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We examined the electrical conduction through single-molecular junctions comprising of anthracenedithiol molecule coupled to two gold electrodes having ?1,0,1?, ?1,1,0? and ?1,1,1? crystallographic orientations. Owing to this jellium model, we evaluated the values of current and conductance using non-equilibrium Green's functions combined with extended Huckel theory. This data was further interpreted in terms of transmission spectra, density of states and their molecular orbital analysis for zero bias. We evinced the oscillating conductance in all three cases, due to the oscillation of orbital energy relative to Fermi level. Our detailed analysis suggested that electrode orientation can tune the molecule–electrode coupling and hence conduction. Anthracene molecular junction with ?1,1,0? orientation displayed favourable conduction, when compared to the other two orientations, thus can provide us an insight while designing futuristic molecular electronic devices.  相似文献
