Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) was used for the determination of minor and major elements present in apple juices. Prior to ICP-AES measurement, samples were diluted with nitric acid or digested in a microwave assisted digestion system. The differences in the measured element concentrations after application of different types of sample preparation procedures are discussed. The direct measurement compared to closed microwave dissolution was found to be the best sample preparation procedure. Prior to the measurements the ICP-AES method was validated and optimized for the determination of elements in apple juices. For diluted apple juice samples the lowest limits of detection (LOD) were obtained for Ba and Cd (< 20 μg L− 1), moderate ones for Cu, Mn, Ni, Fe, Ag, Ca, Cr, Zn, Mg, and Sr (20–100 μg L− 1), and the highest LODs for K, Pb, Na, and Al (> 110 μg L− 1). The results obtained for the repeatability (< 0.9%), the intermediate precision (< 4.5%), the day-to-day reproducibility (< 5.2%), and the overall uncertainty of measurement (approx. 4–7%) for all elements analyzed demonstrated the good applicability of the proposed method. Platinum is emitted to environment by automobile catalytic converters (ACCs), hospitals, noble metal refineries, and other industries. Due to abrasion of ACCs platinum leaves the cars with the exhaust fumes and can thus be found in urban and rural atmospheres. To study the exposure to this element its concentration in urine is determined. Urine represents an often used specimen for monitoring studies, as it plays an important role in the elimination of various substances from the body and in addition it can be collected easily. It is supposed that the Pt-intake depends on the physical activity of a person, i.e. the amount of air inhaled and food consumed. Therefore subjects without and with one or two hip-endoprostheses were selected for this monitoring study. The medians obtained for the Pt-concentration of the urine-samples of these three groups were 3.7 µg/g, 3.3 µg/g and 1.9 µg/g for persons with no, one and two prostheses, respectively. Applying a Mann-Whitney-U-test on these data leads to a p-value of 0.051 comparing the groups with n = 0 and n = 2, and a p-value of 0.052 for n = 1 and n = 2 (n = number of prostheses).  相似文献

For many clinical purposes various artificial devices are applied, which contact human tissue and can thus cause adverse reactions between prosthetic surfaces and body components. Of the many materials applied for orthopaedic joint replacements the most common are cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloys. In these cases considerable amounts of cobalt-chromium-molybdenum wear particles are released from the prostheses which have to be regarded as a cause of long-time problems for the patient.Since these particles are dissolved in body fluids of the surrounding area they are distributed in the whole body via blood. Elevated metal concentrations have been found in blood and urine of persons with endoprostheses. Partly the metals are excreted via urine, but to some extend they accumulate in different organs.Therefore this study dealt with the development of an analytical method for the determination of seven relevant trace elements, namely Al, Co, Cr, Mo, Nb, Ni, and Ti in nine kinds of human tissue (brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, muscle, lymphatic nodes, spleen, body fat) starting with drawing of the sample, sample work up and finally analysis by means of atomic spectrometry. The optimized method was then applied to determine the metal contents in organs of persons (post mortem) with total hip replacements with metal on metal bearing surfaces. Comparison of the data obtained with those of persons without hip-endoprostheses shows that brain and lung are the main targets for elemental accumulation in persons with hip-endoprostheses. Mo and Nb represent the elements with the highest tendency to be accumulated.  相似文献

Abstract  People are exposed to chromium ions from leather materials due to everyday contact with different textile objects. The problem is that Cr(VI) is extremely toxic and may cause contact allergic dermatitis on the skin and may also be a trigger for many diseases. Huge amounts of chromium ions are released by waste waters to rivers after chromium-tanning processes in the leather industry; the presence of chromium is not only a problem for human health, but also for the environment. For this reason it is extremely important to monitor the presence of chromium as Cr(VI) and as total chromium. This study aims to present an appropriate analytical method for monitoring Cr(VI) and the total chromium present on leather materials. Applying this method to chromium-tanned leather samples, it was observed that the amounts of total chromium as well as of Cr(VI) are higher than prescribed and recommended by different regulations. Chromium(VI) exceeded the limit of 3 mg/kg in the majority of tested materials, while the total chromium exceeded the limit of 50 mg/kg in all tested samples. For this reason, it is recommended to avoid direct and prolonged contact of those materials with the skin. Graphical abstract     相似文献

The Platinum Group Elements (PGEs) used in automotive catalytic converters are partly emitted into the air during use and can enter the human respiratory system. Due to the increasing use of automotive catalytic converters, the importance of this problem cannot be overlooked.The goal of this investigation was to determine the concentration of Pt in the urine of individuals occupationally exposed to urban air with heavy traffic. Sector field inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SF–ICP–MS) was used for determination of Pt in the urine of tram drivers. 38 and 34 subjects were investigated in Vienna and Budapest, respectively. Samples were taken from the tram drivers both before and after the shift.The results for Pt were compared to those from a previous study performed by our team. The comparison showed that the concentration medians were 4 times higher than the previous ones. Moreover, the values in Budapest were about twice as high as those from Vienna. A partly significant change could be observed between the two sets of data: before, and after the shift.  相似文献

We introduce a family of q-analogues of the binomial distribution, which generalises the Stieltjes-Wigert-, Rogers-Szegö-, and Kemp-distribution. Basic properties of this family are provided and several convergence results involving the classical binomial, Poisson, discrete normal distribution, and a family of q-analogues of the Poisson distribution are established. These results generalize convergence properties of Kemp’s-distribution, and some of them are q-analogues of classical convergence properties.  相似文献
