Quantum theory as a description of robust experiments: Derivation of the Pauli equation

It is shown that the Pauli equation and the concept of spin naturally emerge from logical inference applied to experiments on a charged particle under the conditions that (i) space is homogeneous (ii) the observed events are logically independent, and (iii) the observed frequency distributions are robust with respect to small changes in the conditions under which the experiment is carried out. The derivation does not take recourse to concepts of quantum theory and is based on the same principles which have already been shown to lead to e.g. the Schrödinger equation and the probability distributions of pairs of particles in the singlet or triplet state. Application to Stern–Gerlach experiments with chargeless, magnetic particles, provides additional support for the thesis that quantum theory follows from logical inference applied to a well-defined class of experiments.     

Morse parameters for the interaction of metals with graphene and silicene

We present Morse parameters for the interaction of graphene and silicene surfaces with the atoms of practically important metals Ni, Ag, and Li. The parameters' values are derived from the dispersion corrected density functional calculations. Two possible cases of $s{p}^2$-hybridized C/Si atoms in the unbroken graphene/silicene sheets and sp-hybridized atoms near the vacancies are considered. Proposed Morse parameters' sets reproduce binding energies, bond lengths and oscillation frequencies of metal atoms adsorbed on the hollow positions over the rings of C₆₀ and Si₆₀ fullerenes. They also reproduce well the same quantities for the substituted C₅₉M and Si₅₉M fullerenes (M?=?Ni, Ag, Li).     

Highly Proton-Conductive Zinc Metal-Organic Framework Based On Nickel(II) Porphyrinylphosphonate

The design of new solid-state proton-conducting materials is a great challenge for chemistry and materials science. Herein, a new anionic porphyrinylphosphonate-based MOF ( IPCE-1Ni ), which involves dimethylammonium (DMA) cations for charge compensation, is reported. As a result of its unique structure, IPCE-1Ni exhibits one of the highest value of the proton conductivity among reported proton-conducting MOF materials based on porphyrins (1.55×10⁻³ S cm⁻¹ at 75 °C and 80 % relative humidity).

Purcell Effect and Nonlinear Behavior of the Emission in a Periodic Structure Composed of InAs Monolayers Embedded in a GaAs Matrix

Enhancement of spontaneous emission in a resonant Bragg quantum well (QW) structure with 60 periods of triple InAs monolayers embedded in a GaAs matrix is studied experimentally and theoretically. From measurements of the time‐resolved photoluminescence, besides the QW exciton at 1.47 eV, a specific super‐radiant (SR) emission demonstrating nonlinear properties is found. The SR mode shows a near‐quadratic dependence of intensity on excitation power, while its energy position follows the Bragg condition. It is revealed that the SR mode shows a peculiar non‐monotonic dependence of intensity on direction, with a maximum observed at approximately 40°. The enhancement in the SR emission at a specific direction is correlated well with suggested theoretical consideration of the modal Purcell factor for periodic quantum well structures.
