GC–MS characterisation and antibacterial activity evaluation of Nigella sativa oil against diverse strains of Salmonella

Salmonella resistance is becoming a worldwide serious health issue in these days; therefore, it is an urgent need to develop some alternative approaches to overcome this problem. Twenty bacterial strains were isolated and purified from different environmental sources and confirmed as Salmonella by morphological and biochemical analyses. Further confirmation was done by 16s rRNA sequencing. Antibiotic susceptibility test was performed by well diffusion assay against different concentrations of Ceftriaxone and Ciprofloxacin. The behaviour of both antibiotics was different against diverse strains of Salmonella. Salmonella strains resistant to both antibiotics were analysed for antibacterial activity of natural extracts of Nigella sativa (black seeds). N. sativa oil was found to be more effective against Salmonella species for which even Ceftriaxone and Ciprofloxacin were ineffective. Gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis of N. sativa oil was also accomplished, exhibiting 10 compounds including thymoquinone, p-cymene, cis-carveol, thymol, α-phellandrene, α-pinene, β-pinene, trans-anethole, α-longipinene and longifolene.     

A coradiant based scalarization to characterize approximate solutions of vector optimization problems with variable ordering structures

This paper investigates some properties of approximate efficiency in variable ordering structures where the variable ordering structure is given by a special set valued map. We characterize $\epsilon$-minimal and $\epsilon$- nondominated elements as approximate solutions of a multiobjective optimization problem with a variable ordering structure and give necessary and sufficient conditions for these solutions, via scalarization.     

Phytochemical Profiling of Lavandula coronopifolia Poir. Aerial Parts Extract and Its Larvicidal,Antibacterial, and Antibiofilm Activity Against Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Infections associated with the emergence of multidrug resistance and mosquito-borne diseases have resulted in serious crises associated with high mortality and left behind a huge socioeconomic burden. The chemical investigation of Lavandula coronopifolia aerial parts extract using HPLC–MS/MS led to the tentative identification of 46 compounds belonging to phenolic acids, flavonoids and their glycosides, and biflavonoids. The extract displayed larvicidal activity against Culex pipiens larvae (LC₅₀ = 29.08 µg/mL at 72 h). It significantly inhibited cytochrome P-450 monooxygenase (CYP450), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and carboxylesterase (CarE) enzymes with the comparable pattern to the control group, which could explain the mode of larvae toxification. The extract also inhibited the biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa by 17–38% at different Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs) (0.5–0.125 mg/mL) while the activity was doubled when combined with ciprofloxacin (ratio = 1:1 v:v). In conclusion, the wild plant, L. coronopifolia, can be considered a promising natural source against resistant bacteria and infectious carriers.     

Exploiting the 1,2,3‐Triazole Moiety to Generate Carbazole Molecular Architectures through Click Approach

Reaction of 3,6‐dichlorocarbazole with propargyl bromide in the presence of a basic medium gave an N‐propargylated carbazole. The latter compound was converted into molecular architectures containing 1,2,3‐triazole moiety through Cu(I)‐catalyzed 1,3‐cycloaddition reaction with different azides. Similarly, 2‐azidomethyl benzothiazole was cliched with N‐Boc‐protected N´‐propargyl glutamate to give the biomolecule 2‐triazolylmethyl product.     

Studies on Azolylacetonitriles: The Reactivity of Thiazole-2-yl,Thiadiazol-2-yl Acetonitriles Toward Electrophilic Reagents

5-Acetyl-2-cyanomethyl-4-methylthiazole, 2-aminothiazole, and 5-N-benzoylamino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl-acetonitrile react with acetone, and malononitrile derivatives in the presence of sulfur to yield the corresponding thiophene derivatives. Also, 4-furylmethylene-2-phenyl-2-oxazolin-5-ones react with thiophenol, and/or thionaphthol to give the thiolester derivatives in one-pot synthesis. The structures of the products were based on IR, 1 H NMR, and elemental analysis.     

Nitrogen dissociation and its excitation/vibrational temperature with hydrogen admixture in 50 Hz DC discharge

Trace rare gas optical emission spectroscopy (TRG-OES) is carried out to determine the excitation temperature, vibrational temperature, dissociation fraction and nitrogen (N) atom density in 50?Hz active screen cage nitrogen plasma, as a function of discharge parameters (current density and fill pressure) and hydrogen concentrations. The excitation temperature is determined from Ar–I emission lines and is found to increase with hydrogen mixing. In a similar fashion, the vibrational temperature of second positive system is determined and found to have increasing trend with hydrogen addition. The dissociation fraction increases with hydrogen concentration up to 40% H₂ in the nitrogen plasma, so as the nitrogen atom density.     

Robustness in deterministic multi-objective linear programming with respect to the relative interior and angle deviation

This paper deals with the robustness issue in deterministic multi-objective linear programming from two new standpoints. It is shown that a robustness notion recently reported in the literature is equivalent to strict efficiency. Corresponding to an efficient solution, a new quantity, robustness order (RO) is defined with respect to the interiority order of the cost matrix in the binding cone. A linear programming problem is provided to calculate the RO of a given efficient solution. The second part of the paper is devoted to investigating the robustness with respect to the eligible angle deviation of the cost matrix in the binding cone. Theoretical results are given to obtain the maximum eligible angle deviation. Finally, the relationship between two above-mentioned robustness standpoints is established. To have a better geometrical view, we prove the results for single-objective LP problems at first, and then we extend them to the multi-objective case. In addition to the theoretical results, some clarifying examples are given.
